Sync music from 2009 iMac to iPhone 5c.

I have a 2009 iMac and a new iPhone5c.  I can't sync my music because I don't have a new enough version of itunes on my iMac.  I can't get the version I need because my operating system is too old.  Can anybody help please? I'm not very good with this stuff, but I can't believe that it's not possible for me to get my music onto my iPhone.  Seems wrong to me.

A couple of thoughts......(you haven't by any chance jailbroken your iPad, have you?)
You might be trying to put too much on at one time.  So.....
1.  Turn off any anti-virus/firewall software and try again
2.  Try to sync less and then sync again with additional music that didn't sync over
3.  Make sure you haven't accidentally checked the music as audio books
After these tips, I'm out of ideas and hopefully someone else will chime in.
Good Luck

  • I tried to sync music from iTunes to my iPhone and when I click on "on this phone" the songs are there, but they are greyed out and have a circle in front of them.  I can not click on those songs and when I eject the phone they are not on the phone.

I tried to sync music from iTunes to my iPhone and when I click on "on this phone" the songs are there, but they are greyed out and have a circle in front of them.  I can not click on those songs, delete or anything and when I eject the phone they are not on the phone.  I tried to re-add the songs and it says it can't add songs because they've already been added.  So HOW can I get the songs to actually ADD to my phone to where I can listen to them?  It's like they're stuck in Sync limbo or something!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

  • I cannot sync music from my iMac to my iPad.

I cannot sync music from my iMac to my iPad.
I have tried rebooting my computer, rebooting and iPad, and nothing works.
I'm using an iMac that runs OS X 10.9.1, iTunes 11.1.4 and my iPad Air runs iOS 7.0.4.  Please help!

I could not get music and videos from the computer to the iPad and vise versa although the computer apparently was backing up the iPad. After playing around with them a bit I finally got the two devices to share media again. i still get the message that the iPad and the computer cannot sync - now that i got them to start sharing again i'm not sure how them "not syncing" is going to affect me as yet.
    Thanks for the effort

  • How do i sync music from old imac to new iphone?

I synced Handels music cd to old imac and nano. Then I bought new imac and new iphone. Never did migration. The new iphone is synced with new imac. I lost the Handel cd and I wanted to get the Handels music onto my new iphone. I want to transfer handels music from old imac (or old nano) to new imac or new iphone. Is this possible?
    Thanks for any input.
    Tim

You cannot transfer it directly to the iPhone, but you can copy the music to the new Mac. If they are on the same network you can drag the folder containing the music from the old iMac to the desktop on the new Mac. Then on the new mac drag and drop that folder onto iTunes in the dock bar. If they are not on the same network copy the folder to a data CD on the old Mac, then put the CD in the new Mac and drag the folder from the CD to iTunes.

  • Syncing music from Macbook Pro to iPhone 4

    Hi,
I'm trying to sync music from my macbook pro to my iPhone but it won't do it..
When I have my phone plugged in, I click on the music tab at the top and then it says Sync Music with a little tick button next to it. I try and tick the tick button but then this appears..
Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
Music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones synced to “Hannah’s iPhone” from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library.
    Cancel or Remove and Sync
    Any Help!?
    Thanks
    Hannah

IS tnis the computer with which you normally sync?

  • Can't sync music from CD's to iphone

I'm new to this but followed the tutorial to load music from my CD onto itunes.  It did it fine, but after syncing it to my iphone my phone still says I don't have any content when I click the ipod icon on my phone.

Alright, if you loaded music from a CD to iTunes and then connected the iPhone, you need to make sure that syncing music is selected before you sync. That, or you can select manually manage music and click and drag songs over to the iPhone. Check with the manual here http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPhone_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf and see if that helps you out. Come back if you need more.
Or, try this Apple Support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351

  • Trouble syncing music from iTunes to my iPhone 4S

    Hello all,
I currently have an iPhone 4S and previously was using a laptop that had itunes installed with my own library and my computer was authorized with my itunes account. My computer crashed and the motherboard was fried so I had to switch to an old computer I used to use 3-4 years ago. I was able to save the hard drive on the old computer and whenever I want to pull stuff from my old computer's hard drive I can hook it up to my "older" computer by USB.
The problem I am having is when I am using itunes and I want to add music to my iPhone 4S it is giving the me circle with the line through it and won't let me add music from my computer's library to the iPhone.
When I try and click on my device tab and click on "my iphone" under the summary tab I try and check the "manually manage music and videos" and click apply but it gives me the following message:
"The iPhone "Nathan's iPhone 4s" is synced with another iTunes library on "NATHAN-PC". Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?"
'NATHAN-PC" refers to my PC where the motherboard crashed and I have all my old data my hard drive that was recovered.
Does anyone know how to change the settings on my "older" laptop to make it so that it syncs with my old iTunes library (on the computer that crashed) so that I am able to add music again to my laptop... and not have to erase my current iPhone music!
    Thanks!

I too have just encountered this problem with the slight difference that when trying to sync entire music library, the only things that make it across to my phone were my most recent additions to the itune library (all from cds).
I am currently trying a manual sync, but selecting all the genres which so far seems to be working.  For some reason that does not seem to include all the music, so watch this space!!!

  • Syncing music from 2 computers to iphone

I have my ipod synced with one computer and my iphone to another. I want to get the songs from my ipod onto my iphone, but when I try to do that from either computer it says that if I sync that devide to that computer it will erase all items on the iphone or the ipod. Is there an easy way to tranfer music from the ipod to the iphone without losing any stored music?

It's the same as an iPod, it will only sync to one library. As soon as you attempt a sync with a different computer, it will prompt you to either not sync or sync and lose all music already on there. No way around this.

  • Can't sync music from iTunes 11 to iPhone 4 since getting iOS 6.1

    IPhone 4, iOS 6.1
Basically, plugged in my phone to put a new cd on, and as it started I noticed the 'other' bar was huge and iTunes was saying my phone was 6gb over capacity and was still trying to sync apps I'd deleted a month before, so stopped the process thinking it was damaging my phone.
I then, thinking the phone had backed up, deleted all pictures to make some space and tried to sync again. The same happened.
Next I decided to update the iOS to 6.1 and try again. This is when I started not being able to syncs anything. Music, film, photos, tv shows, nothing.
The sync will start and the phone capacity bar shows will show how much space will be taken up and the sync skips to the end and nothing has been synced. In iTunes in the music view under devices on tje left the files are greyed out with the sync in progress icon next to them.
I have also got a 'connection has been list to the iPhone' error message which I really don't understand as they are connected via USB and the phone is still mounted in iTunes.
Since then I have tried every different connotation of settings through iTunes to no avail. I've backup and restored, I've restored to a new phone but with no results at all.
I have read 20 or discussions on The Apple forums and it seems that loads of slightly different solutions have worked for lots of different people and I also know many people are completely unaffected by this, but I use my phone more as an iPod than phone.
It's proper frustrating, especially when Apple release a software update for iPhone 4S users but not iPhone 4 owners.
Oh and today it also seemed to be flakey in terms 3G connections.
Oh and since Christmas I haven't been able to use home sharing as it won't finish connecting, it just stops!

    Everything is Sorted!
The release of iTunes 11.0.2 and iOS 6.1.2 for my iPhone 4, seems to have sorted everything. I can now sync music, films and photos between my MacBook and my phone.
I was dubious about blindly doing the updates but decided they couldn't really mess up any further functionality so I went for it and it's sorted now.
Look in to, and take the gamble, it's up to you.

  • I can't sync music from iTunes Library to iPhone

I've just set up my iPhone and whilst the iPhone syncs all my email, calendars etc, it doesn't sync with the music already in my Library. I've tried manually syncing but a 'no entry' sign comes up. I've unchecked all the music, tried almost everything but my iPhone is still saying no content is downloaded.
Can anyone offer some help or assistance please?
    Many thanks
    S.

Do you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and if so, what else is selected under the Music tab?
If you want to manually manage music and videos, this must be selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. You can transfer music via syncing or manually. You can do one or the other, not both at the same time.

  • HT1386 Please help...No matter what I do, I cannot sync my music from my iMac to iPhone 5...desperate!

I have upgraded to an iPhone 5 and I just cannot sync my music onto the phone. It synced with my iPad no problem (which I got after the iPhone 5) but it WILL not sync with the iPhone? I bought iTunes Match to see if that was why and that is just even more of a nightmare without constant wifi...Please help!?!?

Thanks for your suggestions Amy_lou, I have tried everything. Eventually it synced, I got in my car, plugged it in and it would not play. I switched the phone off and back on and low and behold, there was no longer any music on the phone (by which time I was cursing apple and ready to throw it out the window). A friend (a i guru) has had a go, looked up some stuff but no luck. I think it will have to be taken in to an istore. Really not happy with the iPhone 5.
Thanks again for your suggestions. Carys.

  • Sync music from itune library to iphone

when I tried to sync my music library from my computer (not a mac) to my iphone, I kept getting a message that my computer is not connected to the internet. Somehow, the itune cannot detect that my computer actually is connected to the internet.

Yep, sync makes the content of the iPod/iPhone the same as the library or the selected playlists that you choose for it. New or updated files are copied from the library to the device. Stuff that hasn't changed is left alone. And if you delete any files from the library then the matching files are removed from device next time you sync.
