Sync my iphone calendar with MobileMe for the first time without deleting?
I never used iCal, I only us the calendar on my iphone to remember appointments. Now I just got MobileMe and I want my iphone calendar to sync with mobileme (obviously for the first time). But when I turn on MobileMe calendar sync on my iPhone, I get the message that if I save that setting, all my events will be deleted from my phone!
How can I start using MobileMe on my phone without losing all my events/appointments??
And what's the logic behind this behavior? I don't get it.

This is the expected behavior. When MobileMe Push is enabled on the iPhone, it replaces the existing information with what it finds on me.com.

Did you by chance have photo stream turned on? If so then they might be there. When you restored your phone it deleted everything and they will be unretreivable from your computer.

i plugged my iphone into my computer for the first time to charge it and was in a hurry and walked away, when i returned the add apple i tunes account information screen was up.....
my problem is, all my pictures got deleted from my phone, all my contacts got deleted also......weird thing is it put pictures on my phone from another phone and also txt msg from another phone...... has this ever happened to anyone else? if so,....do you know how, or where the pictures got moved to? and if they were deleted, is there a way to pull deleted pictures form a phones memory?? thank you any body that can give me any assistance....i really need it...It can't do that by itself. You had to click through several prompts telling it to restore it from a backup of an old phone for that to happen.
If the phone was not backed up to iCloud before this happened, or to another computer, then the data is gone. There is no way to recover it. -

To resume use of your device as quickly as possible, turn it off, move it to a cooler environment, and allow it to cool down.

IPad 2 starting for the first time without itunes ?

I just bought an iPad 2 for my brother in India. :-). A brand new iPad 2 in a white box from best buy. I have couple of questions and hope the forum members would help. Thank you.
1. As i unboxed , i pressed the Home button, and the iPad screen didn't show the connect to itunes logo,instead led me thru' a series of steps like registering for itunes/apple password and it just started on its own. It works fine though ,however i found this to be weird to start without connecting to itunes. Is this considered "normal" for recent iPad 2's to start without itunes ?.
2. What kind of travel adapter would you suggest for use in India /240V ?. I was suggested to purchase a world adapter kit from apple store for $39.00 ,but i would use only one adapter and the rest wouldn't be of any use ? Could you suggest an adapter to use in India ?Sunnyr wrote:

As of iOS 5, it is quite feasible to start up, configure and use an iPad without connecting to iTunes. My New IPad has NEVER been synched to a computer. -
I have an iPhone 4 that has been activated over the air, "PC Free" and have used it for a month without ever connecting it to a computer. I have downloaded several apps, taken a few pictures, and even downloaded a few songs. Now I want to connect to my computer and sync and backup. Will I loose all my data?
Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise her phone will be wiped during the following sync.
If she has data on the phone she wants to save, back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to her new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing. Transfer the purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

After syncing with icloud for the first time, all my contacts disappeared
Recently for the first time I signed up for Icloud and tried to sync contacts with it, but after this procedure all my contacts disappeared from my iphone, i treid searching online for the solution but couldnt get back my contacts, when I logged in to icloud.com, even contacts list was empty. Any help regarding this will be appreciated.
I have had a similar problem, except all of my text messages are gone too! My contacts have slowly started to come back, but it appears that my most recently added contacts are gone, and my messages are also gone still.
