You should copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

How do I sync my iphone to a new mac without loosing the app data?

You must first sync the iPhone with the old Mac as you normally do, then move the entire iTunes Library from the old Mac to the new one.
An iPhone can only be synced with one computer at a time. When you first sync the iPhone with the new Mac, you will "erase and sync". This will erase the entire phone first, then sync it with the content you moved from the old Mac.

bought a new macbook air because my old computer is formatted. I want to sync my iphone to my new mac, so I can save the data on my iphone without losing data. how can I do?

You need to copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  it simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.

  • I have just synced my iPhone to a new mac, however i have lost all photos plus my work emails, certificates etc. I am being asked for a password to restore settings but cannot remember this - can i get a password hint. Or any other ideas what i can do

    Hi Bob
Thanks for the input.  Interesting that it ran on my computer for a
while (about 2 days) before it first started bleating.  I suppose if I
had to upgrade, it would be to the Mac version.  Everything else I
have tried on Parallels works, even Steinberg's Wavelab, which I
    thought would be an impossibility.
I shall persevere.  I am just appalled at the level of support that
Adobe provides, plus the fact that their website just plain doesn't
    work.

  • How do I sync my iPhone to a new mac?

I bought a new iMac and would like to use my Iphone with this mac now. But when I try to sync my Iphone with the mac, I only have the option in iTunes to replace the contents of my Iphone with that of iTunes on my new Mac, what would be nothing. So my iPhone would be erased and that is of course not what I want. How do I do this correctly?

    It depends on the history.
If you used to sync the phone to iTunes on a different computer, you could copy across the iTunes library.
If you don't have the music anywhere except on your phone, you need a utility like Ecamm's Phoneview to get stuff from the phone to the Mac

  • Help! Syncing my iPhone on a new Mac after my old Mac died

My old Mac Pro died. It's at the Apple Store right now getting a quote for repair.
I have an iPhone 3GS with the new 4.01 OS. I'm syncing it with my Macbook Pro.
When I try to sync my apps, I get a notice that mny existing applications will be replaced with apps from this (MacbookPro's) iTunes library.
I want to sync my iPhone and have my existing iPhone apps download to the Macbook pro so that I will not need to re-download over 100 apps and re-organize them.
How can I do this? How can I make the Macbook pro my new primary computer for my iPhone without having to erase or redownload my apps?
    Thanks
    -----------S

Well, the BEST way is to restore the new computer from the Time Machine backup of your old one. If you can't do this the FIRST thing you should do is go out and get a USB drive, connect it to the new MBP and wait for Time Machine to create a backup.
If you can't do that, make sure iTunes is the latest version, and is authorized to your iTunes store account. Then connect the iPhone but do not sync. Go to the iTunes File menu and choose "Transfer Purchases..."

  • I have just bought a macbook pro, converting from a pc. How do i now sync my iphone with my new mac without losing everything from phone?

I would like to find out i can connect 2 iphones to my new macbook pro.  They were both synced with my PC.  I have transfered my libary from the PC to the mac but dsont want to lose everything from iphone.

    This is always fun.
In iTunes you will need to take some steps.
First connect to the device to the computer.
Click the Store button at the top - Click Authorize this Computer- enter in your Credentials for your AppleID
    Once your computer is authorized
Click File at the top left of the screen and then click Transfer Purchases.
    Once that is finished
Click on the name of the iPhone under device
Click the Info tab above the phone in the middle of the screen.
Check the box's for the content you want to sync,
    Contacts- Addressbook
    Calendars iCal Calendars.
    Dont need to do mail,
Sync notes - if you want.
Anything in the Advanced section DO NOT TOUCH.
Click apply at the bottom right,
Once that is complete you should be able to sync with this comptuer***
    ***Note***
Any music that was not purchased from the iTunes store will not transfer only Music Purchased from the iTunes store will transfer..  - so no CD's or Torrented, Downloaded from the interwebz,,
If you want those types of music to transfer you will have to setup a Wireless shared Folder, or a USB/External drive to transfer it over.

How do I get my Mac to "back up" my info off my iPhone that has been synced with a PC before?

Instead of ansering since this is asked daily, I would suggest doing a quick search here for something like "new computer" and you will find it answered many times.

  • How do I sync my iphone with my new mac?

I have used migration assistant to get stuff over but what about my SMS, Pictures, music, etc....because when I plug in my iphone it says that its synced with another library and i have to erase all the stuff to sync with my new one....
how do I change this so that when i plug in my phone i can still have my sms and pictures? thanks..

Disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer. Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

  • ITunes for Mac don't recognize my Apps (copied since PC). How can I sync my iPhone with my new mac?

    Hi,
i'm new with Mac, and i Have a doubt..
I read that to transfer itunes information (apps mainly) since PC to MAc, you just had to copy the itunes folder and paste it in Mac (Music)..
wel.. i did that, but then when I opened iTunes in Mac, it didn't recognize any application.. and I don't know why...
searching and exploring, I realized something...
the folder where my apps were in PC was Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile applications..
and, searching on internet, i look that all the people said that in Mac, the folder is Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications..
could be this the problem that i Have????
if I change all my apps from one side to another, could itunes recognize it??
thank you very much for your help.

The Apple store will move your content from your old computer to your new one.
You can call Apple Support and they will walk you through it.
You can type " move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.

  • Ipod transfer to new comp when old comp has crashed?

so my laptop that had itunes and all of my music crashed along with the hard drive and unfortunetly lost everything on it.
My ipod has my entire music library, but how do I transfer all those songs, even those that weren't purchased from itunes, from my ipod to my brand new laptop?
Is this even possible to do without ever having access to your old computer again? I also don't want to clear all the songs on my ipod when I plug it into my new computer... please help!
      Windows XP Pro

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation, also it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    TuneJack Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I recently purchased a new mac computer and would like to sync the music off my iPhone to my new mac. However, my phone and my new mac have different apple Ids.The PC which my phone is synced and has the same apple ID but does not let me transfer the music

Hi I recently purchased a new mac computer and would like to sync the music off my iPhone to my new mac. However, my phone and my new mac have different apple Ids.The PC which my phone is synced and has the same apple ID but does not let me transfer the music. Home sharing is not working. How do I successfully transfer and sync the music off my ipone 4 to my mac book pro if they have different Apple IDs? Thanks!

What do you mean the PC won't let you transfer the music? Save your entire iTunes folder (this is assuming that you have all your music stored in your iTunes folder) to an external hard drive. Connect that hard drive to your Mac. Copy the iTunes folder to your computer. Hold down the option key while launching iTunes on your Mac. Select the library you just copied when it ask you to select which library you want to open.
