Sync my music to iPhone

how do I sync my music, which is not all bought on iTunes with my iPhone?

As long as the music is in a format that iPhone can read (ACC, MP3, AIFF, ect), you do it the same as you would music you bought via iTunes. In iTunes, simply create a playlist of the music you want on iPhone. Drag what ever music you want into the playlist. Next time you connect your iPhone to iTunes, select the iPhone in the iTunes Sidebar / Navigate to your your Music / Select the Playlist you created and sync

In my iTunes I have my music organized into playlists. Before when I synced my iPod to iTunes it exactly duplicated the music / playlists exactly as they appear in my iTunes. Now I have more music than my iPod can hold at once, so I've unchecked some songs within various playlists. The problem is that after I sync my iPod, it has all the checked songs, but they're no longer organized in the playlists. Can something be done to fix this?
Delete some of your songs off of the iPod Nano to make more room.

  • How to sync Computer music to Iphone? Answer is in thread

How to Sync computer music to Iphone:
I found a way for you to transfer your, Personal added/Purchased songs without any hassle to your "I" product. Just follow these steps:
Go to your computer/mac's iTunes program, Go to the top left screen to see a little box, Click on it
    Hover over Library
    Click, "Turn On Home Sharing"
Then it will bring you to a page
    Then enter your credentials
    Then click apply
Once you have done that, Switch over to your "I" product. (Easiest to use is the Iphone) And then follow these steps also:
    Go to Settings
Then scroll down a little and click, "iTunes & App Store"
Once you are there, make sure you are logged into your apple account
Then go to, "SHOW ALL" and swipe Music and Videos to the right (which is on)
Then scroll down to, "AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS"
Swipe all of them to on
Then swipe, "Use Cellular Data" to on (Only if you would like to do that, I have it on)
Once that is done, Go to the home screen. Then follow these steps:
    Go to the Music app
Then you should see 3 "***" Or dots with More under it, tap on that (its at the bottom right of the screen)
You should see, Albums, Genres, Compilations, Composers and Shared
    Tap on Shared
You should then see at the top of the list your phone name or ID
Then you should see some other name, That name should be the name (to find it out go to Network on your computer in the folder program, and click on your computers name, then users, then you should see, Public, Default, Default.migrated (<-- I don't know where this one came from but) and then one more, That will be the one you will see on your phone)
Tap on the one that I just explained
    Go to Songs
Your music from your computer will be there, If you have more than a certain amount, It will be placed in categories for easier searching.
I hope that helped anybody looking to find this out.

Good luck. I want to know too. Obviously you cannot download iOS6. The only surefire way I know is to not buy music from the iTunes store. I asked this once before and some guy just wanted to argue about what the iCloud was and if music is there. I just want the music that I specifically tell to be on my phone -- to stay on my phone.

  • ITunes 10.6 not syncing purchased music to iPhone iOS 5.1

I upgraded iTunes to version 10.6 and my iPhone to iOS 5.1. iTunes will not sync purchased music from the iTunes store. In the past, I have been able to sync these purchases via iTunes. Now they appear greyed out on my iPhone 4S.
When I go into the App Store from my iPhone, I am able to download my purchases, but there are many and tapping on them one by one is not something I want to do EVERY time I update my iPhone to a newer OS. I would like to sync from my computer since those files are on my computer and I can play them in iTunes.

I have also tried adding my music into a different playlist and it will still not sync half of my songs.  I have also deleted the Purchased playlist and copied them back into it again... still nothing works
    This is quite silly!

  • Can't sync all music to iPhone ?

    Hello all
I'm currently trying to sync my music which is a total of 2358 tracks to my iPhone 5 (6.0.1)
However when updating my music to my iPhone it only syncs 2331 songs (not a massive differance but still annoying)
So far I have: restored my phone from scratch, deleted all music from the phone and rebooted. checked for updates on both iTunes and iPhone. Restored from a back up and tried dragging and dropping the missing tracks. I've tried the obvious of just pressing the Sync button on the music tab as well. I've made sure that its not syncing only ticked tracks and made sure that the new tracks wern't CP protected. I do work for another tech company so I deal with troubleshooting all the time but I'm baffled by this one!

  • Can't sync iTunes music to iPhone

I'm using iTunes on my MacBook, OS 10.8.5.  My iPhone has IOS 8.1.2.  My iPhone is connected to the Macbook by cable.  Under Summary I have checked Automatically Back Up "This Computer".  Under Options I have checked "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" and "Sync only checked songs and videos.  I only use iTunes on the MacBook to sync my music collection to my iPhone.  Under Songs I have checked "Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres.  Then when I check my music on my iPhone, i find that only half of the genres and none of the playlists have synced. Why can't I do a full sync?  Does anyone have any ideas?  Your help would be very much appreciated.

Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download and get the latest version of iTunes from there.
Interestingly, you told us what version of iOS and OS X you are running, but not what version of iTunes.
Your post says you are using OS X 10.8.5, but your profile (below your post) says OS X 10.6.5.  If OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) is correct, then you can run the latest iTunes (12.0.1).

  • Unable to sync new music to iphone 5; existing songs are becoming unplayable

Ever since I downloaded iOS 7.0.3 I have been unable to sync new music to my iPhone 5. Now some existing songs in my music library on my phone have become unplayable. Red circles containing red squares have appeared next to those songs. If I choose a specific album to play, it will skip through every song without playing any of them & put those red circles/squares next to every song. Those songs can no longer be played on my phone, even though they look completely normal & play just fine in iTunes on my PC. Has anyone else run into this problem?

I've been trying to figure this out for the past couple days, but on my iPod touch 5. It seemed to happen for me after I updated to iOS 7.0.2 a few weeks ago. Have you tried the solutions that other people have posted on other discussions? Nothing else seemed to work for me except a full system restore. I'm in the process of my second restore right now. iTunes shows it's downloading the apps, but my problem was with the songs, so hopefully they work after all this... When I go into my music on my iPod touch, they all have the red circles next to them. I'm not sure if they're still downloading or not. It all started with not downloading a few albums to not downloading any of my songs.
If all doesn't work, I might have to try what this guy did(check link). Though I'd rather not lose all my plays and have to start over, but I'm not even sure that's going to work. If it's caused by a bug I surely hope Apple gets their act together and fixes it soon.

If you haven't yet, check the other discussions on this topic and see if any of them work. Good luck.

  • Cannot sync all music to iphone 5

On my new iphone 5, all the songs in the playlist do not sync, only the ones purchased that have a check next to them.  The other songs will not allow me to check the boxes - how do I get the entire playlists to sync?

I have had this problem.  Many posts on the forum, I have spent hours trying to fix this with those suggestions and no luck.  Thought apple might get their act together in 8.1.1 update but I have not heard of that fixing this issue.
Temporary fix is to uncheck the sync of music on iTunes and sync your phone so that all music should be off...then go to the Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage (Under storage tab not iCloud)>Music then Edit and delete all songs.  For some reason there are often songs remaining on your phone even when you have told iTunes not to sync music.  Be aware some of these syncs can take hours.
At that point your music app should show no music.
I have turned off iCloud sync and iTunes match (not sure if that was necessary.)
Go back to iTunes and sync the music you want by checking playlists, etc. (This takes at least 2 hours for my phone given the amount of music I have)
***The key after doing this is not so sync your phone again.  This stinks because you are not backing up but every time I sync my phone to iTunes after getting the music back on initially it has messed up the music files and some music starts to disappear.  I have (every several weeks) done the above process just to have a valid backup.
I am VERY frustrated.  Forget my iPhone 6+ bending, this issues and the time spent is almost enough for me to leave the iPhone...despite having iMac, Macbook pro, apple TV, iPads...

  • Can't sync all Music to iphone 4s

when i look on my iphone i am missing albums that i have on my actual library.
i have my whole library ticked and each and every song, i removed all music off it and tryed syncing it again and it popped up saying '36 items could not be synced. see iTunes for more information' then when i open ituns it doesn't give me any information whatsoever
please help, if it helps i restored my phone from icloud around 4 days ago when i got a new iphone due to warranty.

Unless you've got the iPhone working in manual mode, you can't just drag-n'drop. You need to create a playlist and then tell the iPhone to sync that play list. (If you don't just want it to sync as much music as it can).
What's more, you can refer these articles about transferring iPhone music to iTunes:

Hope that can help you a lot.

  • Unable to sync any music to iPhone

I have an iPhone 3GS which I recently upgraded to 3.1.3. I am unable to sync any music to the iPhone, either playlist or by artist. I used to have a bunch of songs on the iPhone, but I only had part of my music library and wanted to replace some of the songs with different ones from my library. I had previously synced via playlist, but decided to sync by artist instead of having to put together a new playlist just for the purpose. I never did get it to sync to the new set of songs and in the process it removed all songs from my iPhone, leaving me with nothing.
The current behavior has me select which artist or playlist to sync, and then attempting to sync with the phone. iTunes goes through the normal "Syncing iPhone do not disconnet" with the gray striped bar, and the iPhone itself reports "Sync in Progress". After everything says "OK to Disconnect" I do so and then click on "iPod" from my phone. It says that I do not have any music.

I should mention that this has been an ongoing problem since some time after installing the previous OS update (3.1.2?) and so is not unique to the latest OS.

  • HT1296 My iphone 4s is registered on my mac boo pro. Is it possible to sync my music from iphone to laptop without losing music content on iPhone

When I try to sync the music from my iphone 4s to mac book pro, I get a message that suggest that if I continue, the contents in my iphone will be replaced with whats already in the itunes on mac book pro (in other words my iphone 4s music collection will be all lost).  Is there a way of syncing the 2 devices without losing any of the music.  I seem to manage to sync other items like calendar, contacts, photos, books etc.

If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

  • Sync doubles music on iphone

    Hello
    Here's a strange one:
After updating to the previous version of iTunes (the one which underwent the first major redesign), and my iphone to IOS 7, there's lots of inconveniencies occurring.
    The funniest one is this:
When I connect the phone and sync it with itunes, it says something like
    "17,25 gb / 2230 tracks of music"
then I make some minor changes (add or remove a playlist/album for example) and the usage drops to
    "9,38 gb / 1395 tracks of music"
the sync goes on, most of the time flawlessly, and as soon as it is finished, the file-count jumps back up to the higher number...
See the screenshots for a better insight...
Any ideas what could cause it?

Does anyone know why ipod music will no sync up with your Macbook computer???
Because iTunes isn't designed that way.  Only songs purchased and downloaded on your phone will sync back to your computer.
We're you not keeping regular backups of your computer?

  • I am unable to sync my music from iphone to mac, why?

When I connect my ipone to my mac in order to sync, it does appear as a button in the navigation menu; However I've been able to successfullz sync photos, but NOT Music

It may seem simple, but restart both devices.
on the iPhone hold the sleep and home button until the phone rests (soft reset), then restart the iTunes app. Then plug the phone back in then sync again.
