Sync non-ipod to itunes on a mac

I'm new to mac, just bought a mini last wk and love it. I'm having trouble getting my Phillips Go Gear mp3 player to sync with itunes on my mac. It is recognized as a USB mass storage device but not recognized within itunes. I have seen 3rd party software that allows itunes on PC to sync with nonipods, but not for macs. Any suggestions? Buying an ipod is not in the budget.

iTunes can only sync Apple devices, and Apple has gone to great lengths to keep it that way.
However, you should be able to simply drag songs from iTunes to the folder representing the player.

Trying to sync my iPod with iTunes and I am getting this message:"This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the ipod"... I have deauthorized and reauthorized the account and still getting the same error.

Me too...this is stupid, stupid, stupid. Just purchased my 200 (ish) mac and now I am told that my new Mac Book pro is not "authorized".
Which if my 200 macs are authorized. Can someone please tell me???

I've tried all the usual stuff.

Go to Settings > General > Usage and see how much is shown available and how much is in "Other".

Ah I see. That folder would only be there if you had perfomed the earlier steps in that section.

- If they are in an iPod backup then restore from that backup. Note however, that the the backup that had the photos may have been overwritten by a subsequent backup that did hot have the photos on the iPod.See the restore topic of:

- Have you looked on the computer? Maybe they were imported to the computer and then deleted from the iPod. Since the photos were not synced to the iPod they are not in the iPod Photo Cache folder .

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

hmm thats kinda odd! how he managed to do that i dont know I thought the backups were locked per phone or phonenubmers serial. Anyhow IF you have no backup at all then you have lost everything. There is software out there that can recover data on the phone that was deleted.. I would personally click restore on Itunes and restart over. You cant get back what you lost that easy and software that does recover deleted data may not allways work 100% and costs money for the software..

By completely removing all reference to apple or iTunes/iPod/ Safari etc from my computer, it has at last installed.
