Sync Notes Problem

I running all current software on my iPhone 3G (version 3.1.2) and iTunes (version 9.0.2) under Mac OS 10.6.2 on a new 21.5 iMac. I synced my iPhone today and all newer notes on my phone were replaced by my older notes on my computer. Only Sync Notes was checked, not Notes under Advanced section of 'info' tab of iTunes which, if checked, would cause a similar result.
Is this a new bug? This isn't the result I expected. I thought the newer items on my phone would replace the older notes on the computer. All newer notes seem to be lost for good.
Your help would be appreciated.

  • Ipod touch 1G (3.1.3): notes problems+disconnects when i check 'sync notes'

Hi everyone, I got this ipod touch 1G and recently upgraded it to the 3.1.3 firmware. Lovely update to the clock and the calculator, but it screwed my notes!
First thing i noticed was that I couldn't open many of my notes; it returns to the home screen when u tap on a note. The notes that could open, opened up to the wrong note! (select note A: note B opens up!)
second thing i noticed was that I could no longer WRITE any notes. This is a major problem for me. New notes just don't get written and i am ejected to the home screen again.
3rd thing: cannot delete existing notes.
4th when i check 'sync notes' in itunes(9.0.8), it just refuses to sync when it reaches notes, saying that "itunes could not sync notes to the ipod because the ipod disconnected"
    Have tried:
Restarting itunes +doing hard restart on ipod touch. <fixed the sync notes option unchecking itself.
Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance!

I have the exact same problem.
Would really appreciate if anyone could help me get access to my notes again.
    Please and thank you

  • HT4191 I was sincronizing my iPad by using the INFO Section by: Other Sync notes with Outlook Advanced Notes. The result was a huge problem, because it erased the notes in my iPad and added other notes of my commpuerte into my iPad. What can I do to?

I was sincronizing my iPad by using the INFO Section in iTunes when my iPad was connected by: Info>> Other >> Sync notes with Outlook >> Advanced >> Notes.
What I wanted to do, is pass the notes in my iPad to my computer (Outlook) in order to have a backup of that information. Nevertheless, what the sincronization did was eliminate all the notes that I had in my iPad and incorporate new notes from my computer.
Is there any way to restore my old notes? Is there a "trash" in iTunes were I can find that set of notes?
I do not think I have a backup of my iPad, therefore I cannot use that option. Does any one have any solution for my problem??? I would really appreciate some help.

Not as yet, and the proper answer is for Microsfot to update O2011 for iCloud, they have a statement noting that iCloud is not supported (Mail is) but no timetable for a fix.

  • Problems Syncing Notes

Every time I try to sync my 3G with my macbook I get this message- ITune could not sync notes to the IPhone"**** IPhone" because the Iphone disconnected.
My phone hasn't been disconnected and continues to charge.
    Please help!!!!

    Hi and welcome...
Try resetting your iPhone. Hold both the sleep/wake and Home buttons together for at least 10 seconds.
The red shut down slider will show up at the top of the screen and then disappear. Keep holding the buttons. The screen may even go black, but don’t let go of the buttons until the Apple logo shows up. When it appears, let the buttons go and the phone will start up normally.
Restart your MacBook. Connect your iPhone and try syncing Notes again.

  • How can I sync Notes from Outlook with my iPhone

Calendar, Contacts and E-mail works great, but I live by the notes in Outlook. I switch from Blackberry to iPhone. I am using notes to store quick account info and notes from users while working. When I am back to the office I sync everything with outlook so I can have backup in case something happens to my phone. Any chance somebody developed App that can be used to sync notes between Outlook and iPhone, or even ITunes and iPhone?

I think I solved my problem. Contacts in Outlook have Notes section. I just created another set of contacts and rename that contact group "NOTES". I copied all my notes from notes folder in outlook to this new contact group and now my notes are syncing using exchange active sync just like my regular contacts. Problem solved without any third party application.

  • How do I sync Notes between iPhone and Macbook, preferably using a cable?

I was running Lion before I upgraded to Mavericks.  I would sync notes via iTunes using a cable.
My understanding is that you have to use WiFi and iCloud with Mavericks, which if true is a really dumb limitation and a problematic one.  I do not have WiFi at home and often not when traveling.  But I do have a cable and my Macbook.
Is there no way to sync Notes with a cable?

At a standstill on a solution so I retried other suggestions I have found on various threads.  I have done this specific process multiple times but luckily this time it worked.  What helped was - on MBP went to Settings > iCloud then unchecked Notes.  Said ok to delete Notes from MBP (my most recent version is on my iPhone).  Waited about 5 min then went back to Settings > iCloud checked Notes, said ok to merge and now my Notes on iPhone and MBP are the same.  Will have to see what happens.  I had my phone connected to MBP vis USB and used wireless during process.  Hope this helps with your problem also.

iPod touch 2G. Not syncing, not restoring, not switching on. iTunes 10.4.1. Help Please!

    - What happens when you try to sync and restore?
    - If iTunes is not seing the iPod see if restting the iPod will either fix the problem or allow you to see it in iTunes so you can restore the iPod
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

  • Sync Notes on Iphone with Notes in Mail?

Is this possible? I don't seem to be able to get these to sync. Anyone done this or is this a future enhancement?

I found this tip in Macworld magazine:
"Sync Notes -- One of the major limitations of the iPhone’s Notes application is that you can’t sync it with data from any program on your Mac. There’s a workaround, however. Each contact has a notes field. So you can create a fake contact and paste any info you like in the notes field for that contact in Address Book. One sync later, all that information will be at your fingertips".
As noted this workaround applies to 'contacts' on your iPhone. I was wondering if you could apply this principle to your problem?

  • ITunes could not sync "notes" to iPhone 4 because iPhone canceled the sync?

My iPhone 4 arrived and it activated fine and the setup / sync with iTunes went fine, except with NOTES within Mac Mail -- I keep receiving the following error message via iTunes
    QUOTE:
iTunes could not sync notes to the iPhone " _____ iPhone" because the iPhone canceled the sync.
    END QUOTE.
I've never had this happen with iTunes and/or any of my previous iPhones. Anyone else having this problem or know how I can resolve it. I've turned on my MobileMe syncing and so far that hasn't updated the notes from my Mac over to my iPhone 4 either. HELP!

I have nt had this issue yet, as I have only had the iPod touch for a few weeks, since moving from a Windows based phone and laptop using Outlook, where everything just worked..unlike this **%^$ Apple system.  OK I have had the mac for a year or more now, and just about getting used to it, it is only since the Smart Phone died that I thought I would give an iPhone a try...but I managed to get a itouch cheap...but new ( less than 6 months old)
Only this morning I realised that I missed the notes that I used to reply on with Outlook and and the Win Mobile phone.
So began looking to see why the few notes I created on the Apple mail app were not on the itouch.
This lead me to this thread, and seeing mention of the  'Mobile Me ' account
From what I understand Mobile Me is another e-mail account?  is it free? or a paid for service I seem to thin kit was paid for and never looked at it any further .  I already have  5 e-mail accounts, and did not need another one!!
So can someone explain to a newbie like me what is the best way to create notes on the Mac and have them sync to the itouch...preferably with out having to spend yet more money on this Apple millstone round my neck
    Thanks
    Neil

  • Syncing notes with Outlook 2010

When I attempt to sync Notes with Outlook, all the notes at both ends i.e. the PC and iPad revert to a date some weeks ago.  If I change the same note on both the PC and iPad I would expect a sync conflict, but again the note reverts to a copy (from somewhere) that is several weeks old.  If I change either end and sync, again, the notes revert.
    How can I fix this?

Ok, well after looking at everything, I decided that the best solution was to uninstall an App called "Tango", as it seemed to 'mess' with contacts directly, and I only use it with 1 person, so switching back to Skype (plus Tango sends/shares lots of personal
info, location, and keeps changing it's access rights and doing stuff when you're not looking - I'm sure some people love it, but for me, it's a belts and braces get rid of anything that might have 'contributed' to this issue).
Found my un-sync'd contacts and emailed them to myself, then deleted the Exchange active-sync account. Checked what was left, found google had managed to sync some stuff, cleared that up too!
RE-created the account on the S4 - only need the email and password, as it finds the server and sets itself up automatically (I guess it did that previously).
All is now working, after about 5mins the data had been re-populated and it sync's new changes instantly. But I will monitor from time to time to check that new contacts or added numbers etc do sync. My best guess is that some index or other data became corrupt.
Just one of those things (or had I been tango'd?!).
On the Truncating Notes Issue, the S4 (realised that it's running Android 4.3) does chop a note but only if edited, at 1001 chrs. However unlike others, it seems to only truncate the note if you actually edit the note field, so adding a phone number or removing
one, leaves the note field intact!
To summaries other devices behaviour with the Contact record Notes Field:
    - iPhone 3GS (on iOS 6.1.3) truncates at 32,777 chrs (so pretty big notes!)
    - Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8020 - Android 4.1.1) chops at about 1,000chrs, even if just adding a phone number to the contact - so not even editing the notes field
    - HTC One X (4.2.2) at 5,122 chrs (when editing any part of the contact)
I hope this might help someone in the future if they have similar problems ...
    cheers

  • Syncing notes on Macbook Pro Error Message

I've tried to sync Notes from my Iphone and Ipad to my Mac with Lion. Each time I check Notes in Icloud preferences, I get error message "System Preferences quit unexpectedly". I cannot sync my notes onto my Mac. Can someone try and help me. Thanks. Jay

You could try sigining completely out of your iCloud account, then back in but it probably won't help if it's a problem with OS X rather than with iCloud.
If you want to try, go to System Preferences>iCloud, cick Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then sign back in.  This deletes the iCloud data from your Mac but not from iCloud.  Your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in, after a brief delay as it redownloads.
Otherwise, you might want to post this question over in the OS X Mountain Lion forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_mountain_lion.

  • HT4191 Sync Notes Between Devices

I just purchased my new iPhone 5 to replace my retro 3GS.  I also have an iPad and use the Notes feature on both the phone and iPad.  I cannot figure out how to transfer my Notes from the old phone to the iPhone 5.  I backup to iCloud.  I have an iCloud mail account.  I do have Notes turned on to backup to iCloud on all three devices.  I have backed up all three, but the Notes don't transfer.  The calendars transferred with no problems at all.  I have tried everything I know to do with no luck.

my point is some engineer has added an unneeded step and limiting point to the iCloud sync feature.
    Photostream doesn't require @me account
    Numbers doesn't require @me account
    Calendar doesn't require @me account
I know your answer is factually correct but Apple is missing the point.
And it's not "either you create an @me.com email address to sync notes or you don't sync notes" it's either Apple responds to the market desires or I use some other companies applications and systems.

  • Help! iCloud synced notes disappeared!

    Hi,
I am hoping that someone can help and knows if there is a way to recover my iCloud synced notes which disappeared yesterday afternoon. A bit of history first:
I am running 10.7.2 on my Mac and iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. Prior to activating iCloud a few weeks ago, I was syncing my Notes across my Mac, iPhone and iPad via iTunes and everything worked great.
Once I upgraded to iOS 5 and activated iCloud, I selected the option in iTunes to sync my Notes via iCloud. This created two sets of notes on each device; the iPhone Notes app had two accounts, iPhone and iCloud; the iPad Notes app had two accounts, iPad and iCloud; and the Mac Mail app had two accounts in the Notes section, On My Mac and iCloud.
I realized that only the Notes created in the iCloud account of the respective devices would sync via iCloud. Following advice I had read here on the Apple Support Communities, I set the iCloud Notes account as the default account for both my iPhone and iPad, and moved the Notes in the Mail app on my Mac from the "On My Mac" account to the "iCloud" account. I did this a couple of weeks ago and everything had been working great; I now only had one Notes account on both my iPhone and iPad, and everything was syncing as one would expect between my iPhone, iPad and Mac.
At least everything was working great until yesterday afternoon; I opened the Notes app on my iPhone and was startled to find the app read "No Notes". I next opened the Notes app on my iPad and actually saw all of my Notes for half a second before they all disappeared and then it too read "No Notes"! I next opened the Mail app on my Mac and also had no Notes. Finally, I logged into iCloud.com and opened up the Mail app to also find that I had no Notes.
Has anyone else experienced this? Why would this have happened? I had initially backed up all of the Notes when I first made the switch to iCloud a couple of weeks ago, expecting some initial trouble with the first sync. But everything has been running smoothly for about 2 weeks, I hadn't made a backup since. Isn't iCloud supposed to be my backup? Does iCloud make a backup of itself that I can access to get all of my Notes back from yesterday morning? I am also Syncing my Calendar and Contacts via iCloud, but if this could happen to my Notes, I am afraid that it could also happen to my Calendar and Contacts.
I realize that many, if not most, of software errors are actually attributable to user error, but in this case, I do not see what I possibly could have done wrong. I don't think it's even possible to delete all of the Notes from my iPhone with one click, is it?
If there is no way to recover from a loss like this, the iCloud service is worthless. Hopefully there is a way for users to access an iCloud backup/snapshot of thier data so that losses like this can be prevented.
I do make nightly backups of my Mac via SuperDuper to an external HD, so I should have backups of my Mac's Mail app, as well as iTunes generated backups of my iPhone and iPad from when all of my notes were on iCloud. I was thinking of loading these backups while I was offline and recovering my Notes that way, but I do not know if iCloud data is available locally while offline. Does anyone know if iCloud Notes can be accessed on your Mac, iPhone or iPad if the device is offline?
    Any info/insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bruno

I got a little carried away in my post… I found a solution, but I still lost a few very important notes.
I talked to Apple about 30 minutes. It seems the problem comes from updating the content of my iPhone and synching it using the cable…
Fortunately, I managed to rescue older notes by running Time Machine in Mail.app. An older version of my iCloud notes were saved there. I copied and pasted them.
For the future, I will regularly make a copy of my notes in a local folder in Mail.app.
Don’t just rely on iCloud assuming it is a perfect way to save your data…
    Fabien
