Sync only a group on iPhone via iCloud

On an iPhone 4s, how do I sync only contacts of a group?
In AddressBook I have "All contacts" and I created a group called "IPhone" and I want to sync only this group in my iPhone via iCloud.
Is it possible? I don't see any option but maybe there's a workaround somewhere
iPhone 4s, iOS 5.0.1, OS X Lion 10.7.2
Thanks

Ok, I've figured out what's happened but I don't know how to correct it. This is what I did: when I joined icloud I named the email account eg  [email protected] when I should have used [email protected] could someone please explain how to change it. I have tried to open a new account on icloud called [email protected] but it tells me I have already done that but the emails to that address are not coming to my phone only if I look on my PC. Any suggestions very gratefully received

As the name suggests, I'm a PC.  Everyone keeps telling me to make the leap to apple for a laptop too & then all my devices would work beautufully together.  But it's not an option at the moment.
I'm really struggling to get my calendar syncing properly via iCloud across a PC, an iPhone & iPad.  I've figured out a few of the problems but the biggie that remains is around meeting invites.  My husband & I send each other meeting requests to ensure that we know what each other is doing.  If he sends me an invite, I can accept it in Outlook on  my PC & it drops into the Outlook default calendar, but it will not appear in the iCloud calendar on Outlook & therefore doesn't appear on my iPhone & iPad.
If I attempt to send him an invite from iPhone or iPad, he cant even see it properly on his PC/Galaxy/Nexus.
I have my own IMAP domain & don't want to abandon it for Gmail.

  • Syncing contacts from Mac to iPhone via iCloud

Ok, second time to type this up, as the program cannot remember what I typed (I changed my devices).
My wife and I shared our mobile me account on our MacBook pro.  She logged in with her account, and I had mine.  I updated to lion.  No problem very smooth.  Then I set up my wife with her own iCloud account and purged her account and her iPhone 3GS of the mobile me account.  Still, everything worked out great.  My wifethen notified me that she has no contacts which messes up a lot of stuff.  No problem.  I transferred the address book data to her part of the computer.  Not an easy task considering that it was 31mb and I no longer had the ability to drop it into iDisk.
Ifigured that iCloud or a simple sync would put all the contacts back on.  No joy.  A sync would not restore the contact database.  It says that iCloud is syncing it.  how long does it take?  And why can I not simply syn it through iTunes?  But iTunes gave me an error and would not sync it.  So, what am I doing wrong?  Her address book has all her contacts, and so did data is there.

Why won't iCloud recognize my contacts?  That is the question I intended to ask. I checked iCloud.com, and it does not show any of the contacts in the address book that are in the address book.  Did the usual check and turned on everything in Preferences that I know of.  Still, it won't see it.  Trying to go through iTunes.  Maybe I missed something there.

If your phone is turned off or not connected to the Internet, you will be unable to locate it. Last known location is only stored for 24 hours.

  • MobileMe Contacts Sync - only some groups ?

    Hi,
I know I can sync only selected groups via iTunes. But what about through MobileMe wireless Sync ? I have several big Groups I really only need on my home iMac and don't want to clutter up my Contacts on my 3G.
When I go to the MobileMe preferences I can only find a single button for Contacts, nothing to select individual Groups.

Pretty sure MobileMe doesn't offer that....
Just FYI: the price of MobileMe includes one-to-one chat support--the link will show up at the MM support site after a little pause or following some links.

The advantage of asking them is that hopefully it gets tracked as a feature request. You can also send feedback at

  • How to sync only one group of contacts

I have created a "Group" of contacts in Address Book that are just those that I would like to carry on my iPhone 4. How can I set-up/sync only that group. Also, the bluetooth system on my auto, grabs the whole contact list, rather than the group that is "up front" on the iPhone.
Normally, I sync my iPhone thru Mobile Me, and when I try to sync through iTunes, I get a message warning me that this could create duplicates.  Of course, I would like to avoid this. Would appreciate suggestions.

    Page 10 of the manual:
"You can sync contacts with applications such as Mac OS X Address Book, Microsoft
Entourage, Yahoo! Address Book, and Google Address Book on a Mac, or with Yahoo!
Address Book, Google Address Book, Windows Address Book (Outlook Express),
Vista Contacts, or Microsoft Outlook 2003 or 2007 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync
contacts with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync contacts with only one
    application at a time.) "
Are you trying to sync with two different applications?

  • How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud

How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud?
I bought a new iPhone and i would like to copy my Safari's bookmarks from my iMac (OS X 10.10.3) to my new iPhone (iOS 8.3).
How to do this, without iCloud?

You might be able to use Google Calendar to do what you want.  Set up a Google account on the web, set up the MacBook to access the Google account, including calendar, then set up the iPhone the same way.  While I'm using MAvericks, I am also using Google to manage my calendar, since I don't particularly *like* iCloud... And I came from Android to iPhone, but I haven't like iCloud since it was called MobileMe.
Oh, and as for sync to iTunes, can't you just use a direct conenction to the computer (either WiFi or cable) to keep the music in control?

  • Sync only specific groups for contacts mobileme on iphone

How do I only sync specific contact groups via mobileme on my iphone 3G?

With over 4000 contacts in my Address Book this is an important issue for me.
I am currently syncing my all my contacts via MobieMe having set up 20 or so Groups in address book. I have split my contacts amongst the Groups which makes it easier to sort/search on my iphone. It is also a **** of a lot quicker to search for a name in a group than looking for it amongst 4000 entries in 'All Contacts'
Some of my Groups change on a daily or weekly basis. For instance if I have a list of people that I know I want to call during the day, one group is called simply 'Calls', other groups my relate to Key Contacts and Key Projects, people that I am currently working with. When I job is done , I remove them from that Group but they remain in their Sector Group.
I found a App called ABContacts which displays the Groups, but also adds either the contact name or Organisation name beneath the key data. Handy
The only way to actually select specific groups is to sync your contacts with iTunes and select the groups that appear in the Sync Window. To do this you must first switch off Contact syncing with MobileMe on the iPhone. Make sure you are uptodate on MobileMe before you do this and back up your iPhone prior to doing this as you will lose all your Contact info of your phone prior to syncing Contacts with iTunes/AB
    Hope that helps
    Regards
    Dewi

  • Can I sync my iPad and iPhone via iCloud

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I searched and could not find a solution.
I, obviously, did not set up iOS5 correctly because I now have two sets of Contacts on my iPhone.  One is called Contacts from my Mac and the other is called from iCloud.  I guess I was confused by being able to sync over Wi-Fi and also being able to sync with iCloud (maybe).  Below is what I'd like to be able to do.  Can I?  If so, how?
My Mac runs Snow Leopard. ( I rely on too many Apps that run Rosetta to upgrade now.)  My iPhone and iPad have iOS5.  Can I sync my iPhone to my Mac using Wi-Fi?  It seems the answer is yes as long as the iPhone is plugged into a power source and both devices are on the same network.  Does the sync'ing occur in the background or do progress bars show up on the Mac and the iPhone?  Can I use a PowerMat as the power source or must it be receiving power through the doc connector?
It appears that while I can sync the iPhone to my Mac, I can still back up the iPhone to iCloud.  Is that correct?
If I do not plan to enter new data on my iPad, can the iPad be set up to receive contact and calendar updates from iCloud. i.e. iPad either pulls updates from iCloud or sync's with the iPhone data that's backed up in iCloud.
I think what I'm trying to do is have all 3 devices current without installing Lion in my Mac. I recognize that new data on the iPad will not sync to my iPhone, but that's OK.

Are iPhone and iPad both use the same Apple ID for iCloud?
    Are they both on Wi-Fi?

  • TS3999 Calendar on Mac Powerbook Pro with Mavericks not pushing events to iPhone via iCloud.  I've followed all the troubleshooting suggestions and nothing works.

I input my events on the Calendar on my Mac after I upgraded to Mavericks.  Created the iCloud account, followed all the troubleshooting instructions (turning off and on, checking accounts, etc.), but the calendar does not sync/push events to my iPhone 5.  The only events that show up are birthdays from Facebook (go figure!).  At my wit's end trying to figure out what's wrong because I really need to view my calendar on the phone for work.!  Help?

If you calendar is now syncing new events to iCloud, let's rebuild your iCloud calendar.  Do the following:
Select each of your calendars on the left sidebar on your Mac and back them up as you did before, by going to File>Export>Export and saving the .ics files to your desktop.
Delete each of your calendars on your Mac by control-clicking on them and selecting Delete.  Go to icloud.com and confirm that your calendars are no longer there.
Add a calendar back to your Mac by opening the calendar application and going to File>New Calendar>iCloud and giving it the name of one of your calendars.  Repeat for each of the calendars you deleted.  When you are done, you should have empty calendars for each of the calendars you delete earlier.  Go to icloud.com to confirm these empty calendars appear there too.
In the calendar application on your Mac go to File>Import>Import and navigate to one of the .ics files you saved earlier.  When asked where to import it, click the drop-down list and select the empty iCloud version of the calendar you are importing, then Import.  Wait until the spinning progress wheel stops at the top of the left sidebar.  Repeat this for each of your other calendars.
Check the calendars on your Mac and on icloud.com to confirm that all your calendar events appear now.  They should also now appear on your phone.  Then add another test event to the calendar on your Mac and confirm that it appears on icloud.com and your iPhone now.  If so, everything is now working properly.

  • Can't restore my stuff on iPhone via iCloud backup

My iPhone was stolen a few weeks ago - and of course I immediatly locked it via Find my iPhone on icloud.com. Now I have a new device, but my iCloud backups are not displayed in the setup process (only pretty old ones from my 3GS). Is this because the old phone is locked?

Fixed it. I figured out that the "new" phone I bought from a friend was still running iOS5.x and therefore couldn't display iCloud-Backups made with iOS6. I think that's a bug Apple should fix - they should at least display the latest backups when trying to restore and then give the advice to update the OS... But now I'm back on track and happy to have all my data back :-)
