Sync only iPad apps to iPad ?

Hello,
I have over 400 iPhone apps in my iTunes apps Library.
When I plug in my iPad, it wants to sync to the Library. However if I click Sync Apps - it selects all 400 of these apps, and would install them on the iPad if I let it. There appears to be no way to "Select All" or "UnSelect All" so it would appear the only way to not sync the iPhone apps to the iPad would be to individually click off each of the 400 apps tick boxes?
This is sheer madness!
There must be an "un-select" all option?
I only need to enable 5 or so iPad apps on this iPad.
Thanks
Paul

After you connect the iPad, check the Sync Apps box ONCE and wait. Wait. Wait. Apparently it takes awhile for iTunes to import or discover all the apps. (Mine were all checked to begiu with, and grayed out.) If you have lots of apps, it will take awhile. Finally, the Apps display un-grayed, though all apps were still checked. Then, I checked the Synch box (it worked!) and unchecked all the apps except those I wanted synced to my iPad. All works fine now. This takes patience and time, which we're not used to on a PC. If something doesn't happen right away, I tend to click, click, click, end task, relauch, etc., thinking there is a problem. Just imagine the old Hour Glass up there for 10-20 minutes (the more apps the longer!) ... the first time only. This worked for me and hope it helps others.

  • Sync only 1 app without loosing all other data

    Hi
I am having trouble syncronizing only 1 app from my macbook to my ipad 2. After browsing and reading similar issues i can't seem to find a thread with the same issue as me.
As i said, i am trying to sync only 1 app from my macbook to my ipad 2, the problem is, as soon as i check the "SYNC APPS" box i am getting a warning about how all apps and their data will be deleted (see attached image)
Deleting and replacing the apps them selves would not be a problem, i am however concerned about loosing all the documents i have in one of my apps as it would be extremely time consuming to put them back the way they are.
As a side/history of the issue not, if it was a free app i would just re-download it, but it was a rather expensive paid app and when i go back in the app store to try and download it i am only getting the option to purchase it (i think maybe because it got a huge update). I really do not want to pay for an app that i have already paid for once.
Is there any way anybody can see to transfer the app from itunes on my macbook to my ipad without loosing the data and files within any of my other apps?
Thanks in advance for your help

You do not have to sync the iPhone apps. You can select the content that you want to sync to the iPad and to the iPhone. You do not have to sync your entire iTunes library to either device. I copied this from another discussion explaining how a user and his wife can share an iTunes library but still sync only the content that they want to sync to each device.
First turn off auto sync in iTunes. Launch iTunes on the Mac and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing. Click OK and then quit iTunes.
Connect one of your devices to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading.
Click on a tab in iTunes - Apps for instance.
Click on the Apps that you want to sync to that device.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Follow the same procedure for all of the other tabs in iTunes ..... Music, Photos, Movies and so on.
After you have finished making all of your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
When you are done, eject the first device and do the same thing with the other device. iTunes will now remember the sync configuration on each device.
You can change that configuration any time that you like by following the steps outlined above.
If you want to continue to auto sync, turn it back on in the iTunes preferences as described above.
Something like this should work for you as well.

  • How can I sync only certain apps after a restore instead of all of them?

I've been serisouly frustrated with iTunes trying to find a way to sync only the apps I want to sync. But iTunes insists that I sync every single app I have downloaded in the past to my phone and I don't want all of them on there. Now after restoring I have a bunch of apps on my phone waiting to sync and now have to either restore again or individually delete all 155 of them. Are there certain settings I'm missing here?  Please help!!

Thanks for the help I did not receive
    Hey, glad I didn't help.
I mean, you waited a whole 38 minutes for someone to volunteer their assistance.
    FYI:
    Select the iPhone in iTunes.
    Click the Apps tab.
Click Sync apps and tick the apps you want to sync.
    Click Apply at bottom.
    You're welcome.
    After literally digging for forever.
Something less than 38 minutes is forever? (time it took to post first question, find answer, get upset and post 2nd time).
Oh, and thanks for posting how you resolved the issue so others (who may not get an immediate reply) will know how to solve a similar issue without getting upset.

  • How to auto sync new ipod apps to ipad?

    Hi,
I have automatic sync turned on for my ipad, and it syncs some of my newly downloaded apps. However, it doesn't auto sync others, which I have to manually click install for. I have a feeling these are ipod apps which it therefore doesn't associate with my ipad.
How can I automatically sync ALL my new apps?
    Thanks in advance,

iCloud is your best option, see http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf#page17 to see how to set it up and the system requirements.

  • Some air ipad apps are ipad 2 only - why?

Im trying to work out what works on the ipad 1 and what doesnt. Clearly some apps say ipad 2 only, but why is this. A game like Machinarium  doesnt work on the first ipad - why? What is or isnt supported. Im guessing stage 3d requires ipad 2 or higher but what else?  thanks for any help you can give

I'm not worry. I'm developing a new app and obviously the New iPad is covered. It's just another one more screen, nothing more. I'll crop the graphics for two kind of resolutions (to avoid the problem mentioned above):
< 1280x800 (iOS smartphones, iOS iPad 1-2, Android smartphones, Android tablets)
    1280x800 <--> 2048x1536 (iPad 3, SMartTVs)
And I'll redraw the images to adapt the graphics to the device

  • I used to be able to sync only certain apps but now there is no tick box to select which ones how do I do this now

    Hi
The tick box seems to have disappeared from Apps when syncing - just bought a new ipad mini and don't want all my apps on it but without the tick box I'm not sure how to select only the ones I want.  Can anyone tell me how I now select only certain apps.

    Hey Maggiely,
Thanks for the question. The following article may have the answer to your question:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Add apps to iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12115
Select Sync Apps, and click Install next to the apps you want to sync. If you have iOS 3.1 or later, you can also do the following:
    - Drag apps from the list on the left to the Home screen on the right.
    - Arrange your device’s Home screens by dragging app icons to where you want them to appear.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How to buy an iPad app on iPad as a gift?

Hi, is there anyway you can buy an iPad app on your iPod touch as I want to buy it as a gift! Thanks

Well, if you read the information under Details tab, it will tell you if it can run on iPad. Problem is generally the person will have to use a cheazy 2x feature to zoom it on the iPad to fill the display.

  • HT3621 How do I sync my video app on iPad with iPod Touch?

Both the iPod Touch and the iPad2 have the video apps.  I have lots of videos on my iPod Touch that I'd like to sync with the iPad so that the iPad2 would then have a copy.  Both contain the 6.1.3 IOS.  Can I do this without having to just download fresh?

It these are videos that you purchased from iTunes you will have to download them again (if they are available for free downloads using the same ID) or transfer them to iTunes and then sync them to the iPad. If these are videos that you shot with the iPod Touch camera, you can use a WiFi Photo Transfer app like WiFi Transfer to send the videos to the iPad.

  • Is there a way to set the default view for the App Store to only show Apps for iPads when the Store is launched?

I'm a new iPad owner and would like to set the default view for myself to show only Apps for the iPad when I launch the the App Store app. Showing apps for iPhone seems a waste of real estate for me and time spent searching for a particular app since I do not own an iPhone.
    Thanks for any assist. :-)

    Hi ..
That's not possible as yet but you can provide feedback to Apple here.

  • Syncing contents of apps to iPad

I have several organizational apps that I downloaded onto my zippy new iPad, after using them for a long time on my iPhone. The apps themselves downloaded, but not the contents of the apps. It takes a heck of a lot of time to get all that content reloaded -- AND what happens if either phone or iPad crashes? How do I get all the content of the apps to sync?

When you sync, iTunes make a backup of the apps and their associated data. If your iPhone/Touch/iPad crashes, you can restore from the backup. If you get a new device, you can restore from the backup and get all your apps and data.

    Hi!
We have an app which works on ipad 1 but fails to install on ipad 2 and 3. I seems not the UDID problem: we can find device's UDID at filename.ipa/.........../embedded.mobileprovision file.
Where the problem can be? Maybe Air SDK 3.2 doesn't support Ipads > 1 ?
