Sync Palm Treo 700p to iPhone

Is it possible to sync my 5yr-old Palm Treo 700p to my new iPhone? If yes, please tell me how to do it.
I did sync the Palm to my MacBook Pro and then to my new iPhone. But it only transferred the contacts and phone numbers, no addresses, no email, no notes. I have 2500 contacts in my Treo/iPhone. It would be impossible to enter the missing information by hand.

Notes can be synced with the Mail.app Notes feature on your Mac.

  • Disable/Delete Web application on Palm Treo 700p

I am trying to figure out a way to disable or delete the web application on my palm treo 700p.  Does anyone have a solution for me?
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Alltel)

Okay, I see what you mean - The best way is to call your provider and have them block the data network. This is good if you have kids, now  you can do it yourself but you most likely be editing the network preference and may lead to unwanted results. Though if you go to preferences and go to network you will see a connect or a disconnect depending on the recent connections made, hit disconnect and no connection will be made until you go to any application that uses data.

  • Palm Treo 700p and QuickBooks 2009

Before I upgraded to QB 2009 Pro, I used to use QB 2007 Pro and a little program called Time to Time. I also have a Palm Treo 700p (Palm OS) The Time to Time program would interface between QB and the Palm pilot and would allow me to select a customer, start time keeping, document what I did and then I could stop the time. When I hotsync'ed, it would copy the data down to my pc, I ran the Time To Time program to transfer the data straight into QB.
Now after I've upgraded to QB 2009 Pro, my Time to Time program won't work and the company doesn't exist anymore so I'm looking for another program that I can do the same with - keep track of my time, hotsync the data into QB 2009 Pro.
    Can anyone suggest anything?

  • Palm Treo 700p Cannot install. Windows Vista looking for Drivers

Installed Palm software and synced on my Dell with no issues.
Went to install on 2nd PC with Windows Vista Home.  Issues.  Got new download for Vista 32 and downloaded off site.
Same error puts me in a circle.  System finds new hardware.  Looks to install driver.  Can't find Drive on CD or Hardrive and so keeps in loop.  Cannot finish 1st "sync" without driver so install does not complete.
    Please advise:
Can I use the Palm device on two seperate PC's (One on NT running fine..now adding Vista Home).
How do I get the drive installed?
How do I be sure NOT to overwrite the data on the Palm when I sync the 1st time on the 2nd pc.
    Thanks

Hello jpmill2 and welcome to the Palm forums.
    1. Please make sure that your Windows Vista account is a member of the Administrators group.  I would also be sure to check that antivirus software is disabled during the install process.
    2. You can use the Treo 700p with more than one computer.  I sync my Treo with my office PC running Windows XP SP2 and my Vista Business SP1 machine at home.  (And a Mac, just for good measure.)
    3. The USB driver for the Treo 700p is obtained by installing Palm Desktop 4.2 (bundled on the Treo 700p software disc) or by installing Palm Desktop 6.2 by ACCESS for Windows [Vista].  You should install the software first, and then connect the Treo after the install is complete. If prompted to HotSync during the install, I aways Skip it.
    4. If you Skip the HotSync during the Palm Desktop isntall, you can create a new HotSync ID on the computer with the same name as the HotSync ID on your Treo.  Then set the conduits to Handheld overwrites Desktop and then sync.
    Hope that helps,

In Palm Desktop, click the drop-down list of Hotsync IDs and select Edit Users.  Never done it myself, but if all you want to do is change your Hotsync ID's name, that should do it.

  • Ical-created entries sync with Treo 700p, but not vice versa

I had this problem with my Treo 650, too. Every calendar entry I create in ical will sync to my Treo 700p, but everything I create in my Treo does not sync to ical.
I don't get error messages, but can't figure out why it is only syncing one-way. When I enter the missing appointment on my iMac, it then creates a double entry on my Treo 700p.
Any idea on what's causing this and how to fix? Is it a problem with the different categories that I have set up in ical? In isync, I indicated that anything created on the Treo should be put in ical under "unfiled."
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

The 'unfiled' category on a Palm device is not equivalent to the Unfiled calendar in iCal, into which all Palm-initiated calendar and task entries are placed during synchronization, unless you have selected another calendar into which they are to be placed. iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit do not recognize categories or transfer such labels to records from one device to another.
If you have made no selection, the Unfiled calendar is selected for you by default, and created if it does not already exist. It is in that calendar alone—or, in your alternative selection—that Palm initiated entries will appear. Subsequent to iSync release 1.5, I found the Unfiled calendar feature so fraught with problems as to be useless.
For calendar color and category support, contact photograph and category support and the synchronization of extended information for contact, calendar and tasks data, you'll have to use the Missing Sync for Palm OS instead:

    VersaMail
Which type of VersaMail user are you?
I'm new to VersaMail and ...
My company uses Microsoft Outlook and supports Exchange ActiveSync
    My company uses Lotus Notes
My company or personal email provider uses POP3 or IMAP
I already use VersaMail on another device and ...I want to transfer my settings to my Treo 700p smartphone
Setting up a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail
If your corporate email system uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you may be able to use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync on your device. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync works with the Calendar, Contacts, and VersaMail applications on your device to directly download calendar events, contact information, and email messages from the server - without going through your desktop PC.
First, get this information from your IT department:
Microsoft Exchange 2003 mail server If your corporate mail system does not use this type of server, you cannot use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Mail server name The name of the mail server that provides wireless access to your mail system. Some companies do not give out this information because they do not want wireless access to the system. If you cannot obtain the server name, you cannot use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Proxy server Your IT department can tell you whether a proxy server is used and, if so, the name of the server. VPN requirement Some companies require a virtual private network (VPN) for accessing the server. Note: If you can't use Exchange ActiveSync because your email system doesn't meet all the requirements above, you may be able to use Good Mobile Messaging (formerly GoodLink) or Sprint PCS Business Connection instead.
If you set up VersaMail to work with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Calendar and Contacts information automatically synchronizes directly with the Exchange server, along with email messages. You cannot choose to synchronize Calendar and Contacts info with Palm Desktop software or Outlook once you set up VersaMail to work with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account. If you do not want to synchronize Calendar and Contacts info with the server, do not set up VersaMail to work with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account.
Now you're ready to set up Exchange ActiveSync in VersaMail
On your device, press Power/End to wake up the screen, and then press Center to turn off Keyguard.
Press Applications and then select Email.
If you see the "Initial Setup" screen, select Continue to begin the setup.
    Enter the basic account information:
In the Account Name field, enter a descriptive name. This can be anything you wish, such as "Work Email."
Select the Mail Service pick list, and then select Exchange ActiveSync.
    Select Next.
Enter the account username and password:
Enter the username you use to access your email. In some systems, this is your Windows username (such as "John Doe"); in others, it's something else. Get this information from your IT department.,
Select the Password box, enter your email account password, and then select OK. Again, in some cases, this is your Windows password. Talk to IT about this password.
    Select Next.
Enter your email address and Exchange mail server name. Select Next.
    Select one of the following:
Done: Finish and go to the Inbox of the account you set up, where you can begin getting and sending email.
    Advanced: Set more mail options.
Test Settings: Ping the Exchange Server and find out if your settings are correct, without downloading email yet. You'll see a message that states whether the test was successful.
Optional: If you selected Advanced ...
    Select any of the following:
Port Number: By default, the port number setting is 443. You may need to change the port number if you choose not to retrieve incoming mail over a secure connection.
Use Secure Connection (SSL): By default, this box is checked, meaning you can retrieve incoming mail over a secure (Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL) connection. Uncheck the box if you do not want to receive email over an SSL connection.
    Select Next.
Optional: If you selected Advanced ...
If you use a proxy server, enter the proxy server name and port number, and check the box if your server requires authentication. Check with your system administrator for this information. When you have finished, select Done.
Optional: If your system requires a VPN connection for email ...
A VPN connection enables you to log in to your corporate mail server through the company’s firewall (security layer). You need a VPN if your device and your company’s server are located on opposite sides of the firewall.
Check with your company’s server administrator to see if a VPN is required for accessing the corporate network. Your device software installation CD may contain a link to download VPN software for the device. If it does not, you need to purchase third-party VPN software. Learn more and install VPN.
Once you download or install the software, you set up a VPN connection in Preferences on your device.
After you set up a VPN, you need to connect to it in order to retrieve email messages from your corporate mail server. You must do this each time you open VersaMail to retrieve messages from the server.
Go to Applications and select Email.
    Open the menus .
Select Options, and then select Connect VPN.
Enter the username and password you use to log in to the VPN.
    Select OK.

  • Sync Palm treo with Mac and Windows

Have a Palm Treo 650 for both personal and work use. Unse a Windows box at work and a Mac at home. I can sync the Palm with my Mac, and I can sync it with Outlook in Windows, but doing this leads to problems, especially multiple entries in both calendar and contacts.
What I'd like to do is set the Palm up to sync with Outlook on the Windows box, and have it overwrite the data on the Mac when I sync at home. I can't find options for this in iSync 2 (merge data or overwrite device).
    Any suggestions?

  • Should I trade my Palm Treo for an iPhone (what features will I lose)?

I have a Palm Treo and am thinking of switching to an iPhone but am worried about certain features that I will lose by making this move.
Can anyone let me know if these features that I will lose are correct, if they are a big deal and if there are any other featueres I am missing:
    -No cut and paste ability
-No notes/memos and tasks synching with Outlook (is this correct)?
-Much harder to use keyboard on the iPhone
-Problems with synching with Outlook compared to the more reliable Treo (is this true)?
-No video camera on the iPhone (is this true)?
    Thanks for any information.

Despite the features the iPhone lacks, as you have listed, it is well worth the upgrade because of the features it excels in. It blows the Treo out of the water! I have owned a couple of Treo's and the capability of the unit is limited. The internet and the ability to search and obtain information is limitless on the iPhone. For one the video quality that you would get from the Treo is garbage and you can't do anything with it but view it on the worthless unit. Cut and paste is a useful option but there is ways to work around the ability. There are many app's that are not only fun but very useful. From networking to file transferring and of course gaming to pass time. I am obviously bias to the question at hand and the only true answer you will find is to search the discussions, support, iTunes and almost all of the other resources and support that Treo does not offer.

  • Palm T|X Upgrade to Treo 700p and Revert Back to T|X Due to 700p Problems. Now I Can't Update the T|X

Here's the story. I am a long-time Palm power user and I have rarely been stumped but I am very stumped right now. I have used my Palm T|X for several years without any sync problems. I upgraded to a new Palm Treo 700p (Verizon) so I can carry one device instead of a PDA and a cell phone. I initially migrated my data from the T|X to the Treo 700p with no major issues. The Treo 700p worked fine for a couple of weeks until I started using the camera. After I started taking pictures and storing them in the on-board memory, wierd things started happening such as screen freeze-ups, screen white-outs, and processor delays. After talking with other Palm users, I was informed that this behavior is typical of the 700p when pictures are stored in on-board memory and that I should move the pictures to my SD card.
I moved the pictures to the SD card and perfomance improved. However, after another week or so, the freeze-ups started again. Everyone that I know who has a 700p or 700w reports the same issues so I'm starting to believe that the 700p has design flaws or bugs that were never fixed. Due to the frustration and productivity losses that I sustained with the Treo 700p, I decided to revert to my trusty T|X.
I initially started using the Treo on 8/12/2009 and I synchronized the T|X to the desktop before synchronizing the data to the 700p. On 09/16/2009 I started trying to re-synchronize the T|X. I did a hard reset and memory clear on the T|X so all of the updated data in the desktop could come over to the T|X without duplicates. However, when I synchronized the T|X, my data was only updated as of 8/12/2009 even though the palm desktop has data updated up to 9/16/2009!!
Please explain what is keeping all of the updates from coming over to the T|X. Thanks for the help.

Are you sync'ing the 700p to the same username in Palm Desktop as the TX?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device. The TX does not have a camera and you are sync'ing the backup folder for theTX that does not have a camera app. to the 700P.
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding Upgrading from a previous Palm OS handheld.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=12926
I would suggest exporting the data from the current username, create a username for the TX and import the data to that username and only sync the TX to that name. You will need to rename the backup folder in the current username to backup.old, hard reset the 700P and sync to the current username. You will need to hard reset the TX once you have the data in Palm desktop in a seperate username to remove the backup folder contents on the TX.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

  • Treo 700p sync on Macintosh

Has anyone been able to successfully sync a Palm Treo 700p (Verizon) with a Mac?

I was able to successfully sync the Treo 700p (Sprint) on a MacBook Pro 15" by installing the latest Mac Palm Desktop Software (not available for 700p yet, so I downloaded the 650 version) and followed installation instructions, restarted, then opened iSync. In iSync, I enabled Palm OS Device under the Device Menu and then opened Hot Sync (in Applications folder) and in "Conduit Settings" double-click iSync conduit and check off enable for this device. Now your Treo will show in iSync and you can set your settings in iSync and click Sync (need to press hot sync button on Treo if using Bluetooth connection). Hope this helps!
