Sync photos between macs

With the new photo app is it possible to sync photos between two macs? One computer shows 5500 photos and the other shows 6600 so what will happen if I put both of them on the iCloud?

Only but using iCloud Photo library an having both systems logged into iCloud using the same Apple ID

  • Sync Photos between Mac & iOS

Am I right in assuming it is no longer possible to synch Photos libraries between Mac and iOS without using the iCloud Photo Library?

That's what I've been trying to do. Nothing is syncronized. Where it says "Copy photos from" – earlier I think you could select the iPhoto library, but there's no way to select the Photos library.

  • Syncing photos between ios and Mac

    Hi
How to sync photos between Mac and ios .. iPhoto is confusing .. If I create an album on Mac and share it to ios
Through iTunes I won't be able to add or delete photos to it with ios which is strange .. If I use photo stream album
Created on ios I won't be able to add photos for them with my Mac so how to do such a simple task with iPhoto ?

Not sure what you're asking here. The only connection between iphoto for mac and iPhoto for iOS is a name. Other than that they have nothing in common. So, no you can't manage albums created on your Mac with iPhoto for iOS and vice versa.

  • Organising/Syncing photos between iPad & folder on Mac mini

    Hi folks.
Hoping somebody out there can help, though judging by the sheer volume of complaints I've seen here with similar problems, I'm not too hopeful...
Trying to keeping my problem simple & to the point here:
    1) I regularly import photos (which I have painstakingly re-named) from a designated sync folder on my Mac mini, via iTunes
    2) No matter what I've re-named my photos, they are obviously not organised by name when viewed in the 'Photos' app on my iPad3. From what I have read, apparently they are displayed by modified date... (VERY helpful Apple!!! Not).
    3) Following some tips here, I purchased 'Photo Manager Pro'. However, when I import the photos from an album on my iPad, into 'Photo Manager Pro', all the file names are different, so using its extra organising options is hopeless, as my original filenames are gone! Now, are my photos being renamed from the initial sync between iPad and Mac mini (via iTunes), or between the import between iPads 'Photos' app and 'Photo Manager Pro'???
    So my question(s) are:
    A) When you sync photos between a chosen folders on a Mac, and the iPad (via iTunes), are the files renamed when transferred to the iPad? If they are, is there a way to retain the original names?
    B) Why are the filenames shown within 'Photo Manager Pro' different to the ones I named/imported? (i.e. should say 2013_06_12.JPG, but instead will show, IMG145.JPG for example). Is this a fault of Photo Manager Pro, or the initial Mac/iPad photo sync process?
    C) Is there any way I can EASILY do something as simple as wanting to import photos into iPad, WITHOUT have to use iPhoto to organise things so they at least display in the correct order? (Sorry Apple fans, I do NOT like iPhoto, and want to keep it out of my work-flow...)
ANY help or advice would be truly appreciated, as I'm soooo close to giving up on my iPad now. Something as utterly simple as this should not be so complicated to work around, surely?! On the iPad I miss the drag & drop conveniance of Finder on the Mac, and the ability to just simply hit a menu button and organise things they way I want to see them (being as I own and paid for the gear!). I am stunned it is so 'messy' on the iPad...
    Thanks muchly folks.
    - John

This can be done but its a bit tricky.
If you want to retain files names when importing photos into photo manager pro you need to use iTunes not the "photos" app.
    1) open itunes
    2) click the iPad button
    3) Apps tab
    4) at the bottom of the pane look for "File sharing"  select the PhotoMgrPro icon
    5)  the the pane next to it should now be called "PhotoMgrPro Documents. Click the add button.
    6) Slect the desired images for import, click "add."
I need to manage multiple large collections of sales photos in PhotoMgrPro and I found that importing one collection at a time was the easyest way to manage.
    7) Open PhotoMgrPro
    8) create a new folder
    9) Open it and then click the import button on the bottom left.
    10) Select itunes.
    11) import. ( original file names should be intact )
    12) the images should remove themselves from the itunes que after import.
    13) repeat

  • I can't sync photos from Mac to iPad.

I can't sync photos from Mac to ipad2 and i have read on the support page How to fix it but it won't work

Have the photos been taken with the iPad or have the photos been synced to the iPad Air? Photos synced with iTunes to iOS devices cannot be synced back. See this link:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
If the photos have been synced to the iPad Air, you need an external app as JimHDK recommended. Or mail the photos, which will be tedious. To delete them from the iPad after transferring them, sync again with iTunes, but select no folders to sync.
If the photos have been taken with the iPad Camera, you can connect the iPad Air to your Mac using a USB cable and then to launch Image Capture or iPhoto to transfer the photos. But that will not transfer synced photos.

I'm on Mavericks and iOS 7, but my iBook on Mac is different from my iPhone 5.
Does anyone know how to sync iBooks between Mac and iPhone?
This issue has been puzzled me for a while, hope can find a way out here, many thanks~

    Under iTunes / File / Devices ?
But I did not see my iPhone under this section...
    Only see those 4 options:
    Sync "my iPhone"
    Transfer Purchases from "my iPhone"
    Back Up
    Restore from Backup
Could you describe a bit more precise?
    Many thanks~

  • How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud

How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud?
I bought a new iPhone and i would like to copy my Safari's bookmarks from my iMac (OS X 10.10.3) to my new iPhone (iOS 8.3).
How to do this, without iCloud?

You might be able to use Google Calendar to do what you want.  Set up a Google account on the web, set up the MacBook to access the Google account, including calendar, then set up the iPhone the same way.  While I'm using MAvericks, I am also using Google to manage my calendar, since I don't particularly *like* iCloud... And I came from Android to iPhone, but I haven't like iCloud since it was called MobileMe.
Oh, and as for sync to iTunes, can't you just use a direct conenction to the computer (either WiFi or cable) to keep the music in control?

how sync mail between mac book and iphone

usually it an effortless process, you just need to set up your accounts on both. Exchange and imap will do the work for you, pop account may require some additional settings changes on mac. Setting that are necessary to change with pop account can be found here.

  • ICloud has never synced PHOTOS between two Macs.  Why?

I have an iCloud subscription.   A couple of thousand on a macBook.  And i have an iMac.  I am running the latest OSX on both.  I have set BOTH devices to sync photos to iCloud.  But it just doesn't do it.  It syncs other material [notes, calendar etc] perfectly happily.  What am i doing wrong?

Are you referring to new photos added to iPhoto or Aperture, or photos that were there before you turned on Photo Stream in the iCloud settings? Note the following quotation from iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
You can add older photos to Photo Stream by dragging them to the Shared - iCloud icon in the left side panel in iPhoto.
When do photos upload to My Photo Stream?
When you turn on My Photo Stream on your devices, all new photos you take or import to those devices will automatically push to your photo stream.
iOS devices: New photos that you take automatically upload to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and connect to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream doesn't push photos over cellular connections.
Macs: Any new photos you import to iPhoto or Aperture automatically upload when you connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Or you can change your iPhoto or Aperture preferences so that only photos you manually add to My Photo Stream upload.

  • Can't sync photos between iPad and Mac OS X since updates

Just updated OS X and iTunes, now got message that "iTunes will no longer sync photos to iPad" - sounds like Apple is trying to force me to pay for iCloud photo sharing. Any way to avoid that? I loved the previous easy sync approach.

    Have a look at this:

  • Sync tool between mac and windows

    Hello there,
Is there any software that allows to sync files between a windows machine and a mac?
    Thanks
    Philip

    www.dropbox.com
Dropbox gives you 2GB of space and will sync files to both Windows & Mac OS X machines. I use it to keep files I need for work synched between my MacBook, iMac and Windows 7 and XP machines. Works like a dream. Any file changes made when not connected to the internet will sync at the next connect, and it does a decent job of managing conflicts.

  • Exchanging photos between mac air and iPod touch

I have recently switched to using mac.  I want to find out how to transfer pic from ipod touch to mac air and from air to ipod touch without using the itune sync.
Also, before i used the sync. in itune to transfer pics from mac to ipod touch before and now I have three photo album on my ipod touch that i can't delete. Can someone please tell me how to delete them?
    Thank you!

You can use "photostream" in iCloud, but the photos will only stay a certain period of time in the cloud.

All other syncing and erasing of synced pictures has to go via iTunes, only photos taken with the iPod can be deleted inside the camera roll.

  • Syncing photos from mac only syncs folders

    Hi,
Im having some issues with my iPhone 6 plus 128 GB and MacBook Pro 15"
In total i have around 24.000 pictures on my MacBook Pro 15" that i would like to synchronize to my iPhone.
The issue being that when i sync the photos only the folders are synced to the phone, but the folders are empty, no pictures.
Everything else - music, movies and so on - syncs fine to the iPhone.
So this is what i've tried so far:
    - Placed all the photos in folders and used the folder from iTunes instead of iPhoto
    - Used iPhoto (in iTunes) to sync the photos
    - Sync only 1 photo
    - Tried another user on the MacBook, same issue.
    - Syncing using iCloud (this worked, but i don't have the space for 24.000 photos using iCloud)
    - Syncing using wire and wireless
    - Erase and restore iPhone from new (this allowed me to sync photos once, but after the first sync it would only sync folders again)
Im thinking some of the next steps might be: Trying another computer, but im not really near any other computer at the moment so other options and steps would be nice!

    Allrighty,
So i tried from another computer (windows) and the issue still persists. Do you have any clue on what i should trie next?

  • Google cal sync issues between mac and iPhone?

Just noticed this morning that my iphone is not syncing with my mac calendar and google calendar, but only for past events with just one specific calendar? I seemed to have lost all the previous events up through today for that specific cal? New events seem to be created OK, but if I change the event to a different calendar on my iphone, it duplicates it on my mac and google calendar showing the event in bith the original cal and the one I swithched it to. I checked google sync and cal div and all the appropriate calendars are selected. I did also have icloud cal selected on my iphone which I unchecked. I just updated to 10.8.2 on my mac a few days ago and it got hung up during install...had to hard restart the mac. Dont know if that could have something to do with it? Anyone else having issues with this?

You should ask in the MobileMe forums as this forum (iSync) has nothing to do with syncing Macs to MobileMe.

  • Sync photos between my wifes iphone and my own

My wife and I each have an iphone 4 and we are constantly takign photos of our new baby.  I am wonderign if there is any way to get them to synchronize so that we both always have the most recent photos from each others phones?
We have never synced photos with ituned before.  Coudl we both just set itunes to sync photos and tell it to sync to a shared location on our home network that we both have access to?
any ideas here would be appreciated.

I have to apologize for my hasty answer.  I thought for sure that I had learned along the way that you could share photostreams.  This is how it was with MobileMe galleries, and I not only assumed because of that fact that it would also be the case with iCloud, but I was sure that I had heard of the functionality specifically regarding iCloud. Now that I'm looking for it I don't see it. I can't see Apple not including this function, but for now it may not be possible.
