Sync photos (edited in iPhoto)

When I edit a photo in iPhoto it creates a new photo in a modified folder. Which photo is sync to apple tv ?

Can you tell me when iPhoto is open, which photo is restored within time machine ? Edited or original ?
want to know which photo is restored when I use time machine with iPhoto open.
I understood that if you want a photo edited restored, you need to open in finder the modified folder and then use time machine. Is this the way to restore edited photos ? Because using time machine with iPhoto open I think I can only restore an original photo. Is this right ?
Can you tell me when I restore a photo (using time machine) from within iphoto when the application is open, which photo is restored ? The original or the edited ? I tried several times to restore a photo with iPhoto open and the photo that is restored comes without any rating or flag (I confirm that is backep up, I can see in iPhoto within timemachine)
What is the best way to restore photos ? For instance to restore a mail I use with Mail open. But with iPhoto is different ?

  • Can you sync photo editing from iPhone to Mac

I synced some iPhoto events from my Mac to the new iPhoto app on my iPhone. Then I edited some pictures, red-eye removal and warm/cool balance. Is there a way that the changes to my photo can be copied to iPhoto on my Mac because it doesn't seem to work automatically through syncing.

Connect your iPhone with the cable.
In iTunes, select your phone under Devices and go to the Photos tab on the right.
There you can say "Sync photos from iPhoto" and also select which events you want to sync.
So the photo's sync. But what does NOT sync, is the editing of photo's on your phone, such as red-eye removal.

  • Syncing photo's from iphoto adds another 'photo library' without deleting 'camera roll' photo

    Hi there,
I found that I can add photo's (without deleting my existing camera roll) to my Iphone 4 from my girlfriends mac to my iphone by syncing from iphoto and selecting the photo events or folder I want. Then pressing 'apply' adds a new photo library to my phone with these selected pics in them. In this cercumstance I can only delete these photos using the same process by de-selecting them in 'sync from iphoto' and again pressing 'apply' There is no function / icon in my actual iphone to delete this library or even individual photo.
However when I try this exact same process on my girlfriends Iphone 4 (same model) the 'apply' function threatens to delete all photos from her phone, leaving her with ONLY the ones selected / checked.
Just in case it is part of explaining this I have tried this logged in on my account and hers but both have the same results in every combination. There appear to be two different set of rules going on here within I-tunes I would prefer to be able to add photo's without deleting existing ones but I would also like to be able to selectively delete these photo's once on my phone without going back to connect to tha mac.
Can anyone explain if this is possible or am I asking for 'my cake AND eat it' ?
Why are ther differences in our phones governing rules in Itunes?

Thanks Winston, you are correct "sync". In fact I found the answer in a slightly different way. There is a check-box in the photo's tab that provides for syncing photo's before any media. Therefore this will in fact create the necessary space on the ATV for the photo's by moving other media content from syncing to streaming.
Of course the alternative, as you point out is to limit what actually gets synced in custom sync.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

  • Syncing photos from different iPhoto accounts

On my iMac, my wife, daughter and I all have our own accounts on the machine which means we have 3 different iPhoto collections and you can's see one from the other.
Any way we can sync all three iPhoto collections to a single iPad?

You can sync from different folders if they are all sub-folders beneath a main one. If the main folder you are syncing from has sub folders they will show in the box below "Sync photos from folder". For example you may choose to sync from My Pictures and inside My Pictures you have folders for different subjects. You can choose which of those subject folders you want to update to the iPod or you might want to make a folder in there especially for iPod photos. You can drag these folders into an order of your choice.
Here's a simple "How To" on downloading photos from a folder and sub folders on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Inside this folder create as many other folders as you want (or drag and drop existing ones from other locations on your hard drive)
3 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the appropriate folders you just created. (not necessary if you are using pre-existing folders already containing photos)
4 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
5 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
6 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
7 Choose the radio button "Selected folders"
8 Tick the folders you want to go on the iPod and click Apply
When you go to Photos on your iPod you'll see each of the folders you have chosen in the menu and you can choose whichever one you want to view.

  • Photo editing in iPhoto 5.0.4

I have been using iPhoto 5 for two years now. It seems very limited as to what it can do for photo editing. Is there a software package that can be used on the Mac, such as Adobe Photo Deluxe? I have been trying for the last two years to put a name or names on an actual photo, and seem to be unable to do that with iPhoto. I am running an iMac 1.8 GHZ with 512 MB SDRAM. OS X 10.4.9. I have seen Aperture but, from it's description, it looks like I would need a more powerful Mac to use it. Am I wrong in believing it wouldn't work with my system? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kaye

I can agree totally with PhillyPhan re: Photoshop Elements 4.0 for a Mac. It probably retails for @ $70 and well worth it.
Adobe Photo Deluxe is a Windows software so you can't use it on your Mac. Aperture is like killing mosquitos with a sledge hammer, you really don't need this and you would also need additional RAM to run it properly.
With all that said, you should be able to rename your photos in iPhoto. You can open a Photo, to at the source list (bottom), click on info button, highlight name and change the name this way...

  • How do i sync photos from my iPhoto to my iPhone camera roll?

I want to sync my 'last 12 months' album only iPhoto into my iPhone camera roll. But whenever i try it makes it a separate album.

    You don't.
Camera roll is temporary storage for pics taken with the iPhone.  You should be importing these to your computer regularly.
When you sync photos from your computer, they go into the Photo Library under the folder name that you chose to sync.

  • Photos edited in iPhoto not syncing to iPod

Using iPhoto 8.1.2, iTunes 10.6.3, iPod touch 3rd gen iOS 5.1.1, iPad 3 OS
I have an album in iPhoto that I synced to my iPod touch.  Then, I edited photos in this album and tried to resync to iPod.
The edited photos are still appearing as unedited on the iPod/iPad.  I tried removing all photos from the iPod/iPad and resyncing, restarting etc.  Still can't get the edited photos to update on the iPod/iPad.  I also made sure the iPod Photo Cache folder was emptied before syncing.
Any idea on how to get these photos to update on my iPod and iPad?

That test confirms that the problem lies in your original library.  Threrefore  apply the two fixes below on it as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How can I get photos edited in iPhoto to update previously uploaded images in photo stream?

As soon as I import photos to iPhoto on my mac they upload to photostream, which is great, exept when I edit them (for example to remove red eye) they don't update on the photostream so when I look on my iPad they are the origanal photos. Can anyone tell me if there is a way of refreshing the pictures on the photostream with the latest edit. I have tried editing the photostream version but it takes me to the version in my iPhoto library which has already been edited. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    You can't do this.
Photostream is simply - and only - a replacement for importing. Once the file is imported them that's it. Photstream has no further role.

  • Why can't I export photos edited in iPhoto 08?

Hi, hoping for help. I posted elsewhere but think it was in the wrong place.
I have labouriously edited some 700+ photos with the intention of exporting them web sized to a desktop folder where I intend batch watermarking them before importing them into iWeb.
Unfortunately, every time I attempt to do this the uncropped/rotated photos get exported. I tried doing it by album, event and directly from the library to no avail.
    I'm using 10.5.8 and iPhoto 7.1.5
    Suggestions would be appreciated.

How are you exporting the photos? What settings are you using in the Export window?
Are you able to drag an edited photo via the thumbnail to the desktop and get the edited version? If not try rebuilding the library as follows:
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options. If you have enough room on your boot drive make a backup copy of the library before rebuilding just in case.
    Then try exporting again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • IPhoto 11 - Saving/Exporting Photos Edited in iPhoto 11

I just updated to iPhoto 11 from what I think was iPhoto 09. In my previous version of iPhoto, I would import photos from my camera, edit (crop, straighten, adjust, etc) and then I would FILE/Export photo in .jpg format to my hard drive for backup and upload to flickr.
When I follow this same procedure in in iPhoto 11, the edits that I make in iPhoto do not save to the exported photo. The application just exports the original file w/o edits.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a fix?
    Thank you,
    Charles

I am exporting as a JPG. I think I figured out the problem. In the old iPhoto I could export from the Edit menu. On this new version, I have click on the Photos button and go back to the screen that shows the whole event and export from there.
It's a pain and much less efficient but it seems to be working.

  • How good is RAW photo editing in iPhoto '08?

Can it compete in any way with Aperture? Is it worth it? I was settled on Aperture until this came out. It has some feaures that make it seem a little Aperture-ish, or Aperture-lite.
I don't do much RAW editing, but I up the saturation, play a little with contrast, batch-adjust white balance sometimes with the eyedropper and/or lift and stamp (this could be a deal breaker)...stuff like that.
Is the editing intuitive? Is the quality good? Is it worth it? I didn't like the editing of RAW in iPhoto '06, by the way...
PS: do I break the terms of agreement if I post a similar question in the Aperture boards?
    -Scott

    Scott:
Unless you have an external editor that you use for RAW editing, I believe iPhoto creates a jpg version of the RAW file on import that that's what you'd be editing. iPhoto 7's editing tools have been improved over V6 but I have no experience with Aperture. I believe it saves edits in tiff format.
Posting in the Aperture forum would be acceptable.
    Do you Twango?

  • Error message when syncing photos/videos in iPhoto between iMac and iPad/iPhone 4S.

I repeatedly get a message saying that "224 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information or for details".  I'm trying to figure out why this is happening and I can't figure out where in iTunes I can get the details the error message references.  Does anyone know how to diagnose?
Please note: this is not a space/capacity issue.  I've already eliminated that as an issue.
    Thanks in advance.
