Sync photos from Aperture to iPhone 4 problems

I have a couple of smart albums set up in Aperture, when i select them to be sync's with the iPhone, the photos are sync'd in some totally random order it very difficult to locate specific pictures.
Any ideas in how to sort out the sync order please?
Thanks
John

For some stupid reason, pictures from Aperture synced to an iPhone/iPod Touch are ordered by file name instead of date on the mobile device.
If you sort the pictures manually rather than by date within Aperture, it will be ordered correctly in your Album or Event on the iPhone. Either switch it in the pulldown menu or drag a thumbnail to a new place and then back to it's original location and it will change the ordering to manual.
Makes you want to hit your head against a wall sometimes...

  • Itunes will not sync photos from aperture with iphone

I cannot sync images in my Aperture Library with my iPhone 5.  I used to be able to do it, but now, no matter what I ask it to sync, the sync quits when it gets to importing the photos I've selected

Same issue with iMac to iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2. Both with iOS 8.1.

  • Sync photos from Aperture

I would like to sync some photos/albums with my iPhone using Aperture. I went through the following steps:
    1. Imported images from iPhone to a project in Aperture
    2. Created an empty album in Aperture
    3. Dragged and dropped images from the project (from import) to the album
    4. In iTunes I went to the "Photos" tab of my connected iPhone
    5. Selected Sync Photos from Aperture
    6. Clicked on the "Selected Albums" radio button
    7. A bunch of albums/smart albums/projects are listed in the window, including the album I created in step 2 above
    8. I select the album (from step 2 above) but it says there are 0 images in it. When I look in Aperture the images are definitely showing in the album
How do I get iTunes to recognize that the album I create has images, and thus move the album over to the iPhone?

I believe I have it figured out. In the Aperture preferences, under the "Previews" tab, is a checkbox labeled "New projects automatically generate preview." This needs to be checked in order to sync images from Aperture albums to your iPhone.
Otherwise, if that box wasn't checked when you created a new project, when you create an album in Aperture and put images in it, iTunes won't recognize that there are images in there.
Note that if you are importing a lot of photos into Aperture, make sure you give Aperture time to generate previews for all of the images before you go back to iTunes to view that album for syncing. All of the previews have to be generated before iTunes will recognize that the album/project has any images.

  • Syncing photos from Aperture, only first photo in one Event

When I sync photos from Aperture to iPad I find all the photos in "Photo" but only the first photo under "Events". The same happens with iPod touch and Photos in iWeb.
Where is the setting for getting all the photos in one particular event? The photos have been transferred to iPad but not to the Events with the exception of the first one. When I click on an Event in Aperture the particular Event opens with all the photos contained.

  • Changing Sync photos from: Aperture to iPhoto on iTunes

I marked my previous question as solved by mistake.
I still have a problem in iTunes to sync my photos to my iPhone 6. It shows only available "Copy photos from: Aperture".
I would like to switch this back iPhoto and cannot find the way.
    Thank you.

Well, that was an interesting idea, Colin, but it didn't work. I opened iTunes, and then dragged the Aperture repository into it. It seemed to acknowledge it (when I dragged it onto iTunes, the "dragging" icon wasn't x'ed out), but it didn't add anything to the library.
If you try to do an "Add to Library" from iTunes, and then navigate to the Aperture repository, the repository folder is grayed out. It can't be selected. Same for a backup Vault created from Aperture.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. It's always worth experimenting. (Assuming everything is backed up. )

  • Syncing photos from pc to iphone - end up in wrong folders

Every single time i try syncing photos from my computer to my iphone 4s they either end up being multiple and/or theyre in the wrong folders.
And yes, Ive tried deleting the "iPod Photo Cache" thing and re-sync, but it doesnt help at all. They remain in the wrong folders. I seriously dont know what to do, Ive had this problem for too long, and its starting to bother me even more when I get more and more photos.

  • Syncing Photos from Vista to iPhone - a proven method

I, along with many, have had many problems syncing my pictures from my Vista PC to my iPhone. I found a solution. Many said to use a seperate memory device such as a USB flash storage device. i tried this and it didn't work for me. So I used a Memory Stick PRO duo. Some of you might not have a Memory Stick slot in your computers but I do think you can get one at Best Buy or any other retailer with an electronics section. Anyway, once you insert the Memory Stick into your computer you should be prompted to "Open to view files." Do so and make a new folder and label it "pictures" or however you want it to show up on your iPhone. Start clicking and dragging all of the pics you want into this new folder. Now in iTunes, dock your iPhone. Once you see the syncing tabs, click on Photos and change the folder you sync your pics from. Scroll down click on the Computer directory, Memory Stick PRO, and finally the folder you stored the pictures you want on your iPhone. Back in iTunes, leave it "all photos" unless you decided to make subdirectories and whatnot. You should probably make sure all of your photos are in .JPG format. From my little experience, that's the only photo format Apple products recognize. Now this isn't the end-all solution for this problem but it did work for me and i'm not very computer-literate. This did get rid of the distortion problems as well such as the slashes of odd color and so forth.
    Enjoy

Glad you found a solution that works for you, but I wouldn't necessarily assume it's a Vista problem, nor one that is affecting "many" Vista users. I have never had a problem syncing photos from my Vista machine to my iPhone, nor renaming file extensions to make ringtones. I know of at least a half-dozen other Vista/iPhone users in my circle of friends, also with no problems. Maybe it has to do with User Access Control -- that annoying pop-up that wants your permission to make even the smallest changes to your system. I disabled UAC within minutes of using Vista the first time, and haven't looked back. Not saying your issues don't exist -- just that they may be related more to your particular settings & configuration than to Vista itself.

  • Cannot sync photos from Aperture using iTunes

Yesterday I took 16 photos using a Canon 5D Mark III and uploaded them into Aperture and created a new project to hold them. The I wanted to transfer them into my iPhone so I went to iTunes, connected the iPhone via USB cable and in the left hand side bar under Photos I clicked "Sync Photos", selected "Chose photos from Aperture" and "Events from the last 3 months" and in the events list that appears below, the new project appears checked. The I clicked on Sync and left the iPhone and the MBP connected overnight and it stayed in Step 7 of 7 Importing Photos....
Any ideas on why I have not been able to import that project from Aperture into the iPhone using iTunes?

Make sure everything is installed and up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
Also, try syncing from a different folder with photos. See if that one works.
Finally, see if this works/applies/gets you anywhere...
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes

  • Sync Photos from Iphoto to Iphone 3GS

Hello I'll really appreciate your help:
When I try to sync mi iphone, if i have the sync photos from iphoto feature activated in itunes it shows, at the end of the sync the error message (The sync could not be completed because an unknown error -50) and the photos doesn't appear in the iphone, even when the files have been transferred. I've tried rebooting and even restoring the iphone and the problem persists, I was using this feature without any problems and it begin to happen a few days ago without any particular reason.
    Thank you!!!

I just saw this error -50 on my old click-wheel ipod tonight.
To fix it. I plugged in the ipod. On the ipod setting tabs, click on Photos.
Change it so no photos are synced.
Then change it back and browse to a new photo folder.
Also you can try using Windows explorer to delete the sub-folder

  • Syncing photos from Aperture to Apple TV

I have first generation Apple TV to which I sync music and photos from an iMac using a wireless connection.
Until recently I used iPhoto. Now I have installed Aperture and cannot get this to sync.
The dropdown menu says "Sync photos from:..."
    iPhoto
    Choose folder…
    Pictures
Aperture is nowhere to be seen.
How do I get Aperture to appear in the menu?

Syncing works by copying selected content to the tv HDD, after which you no longer need any connection to itunes to be able to play this content.
Selection is made either manually or automatically in your sync options within itunes depending on which you choose, automatic sync will sync things like the most recent unwatched items for you.
Anything that isn't synced to the tv can be watched through the streaming of content from your itunes library on your mac/pc, so for streaming to work, you need itunes to be running.

  • Possible to sync photos from Aperture to iPod via iTunes?

When I used iPhoto, I set iTunes to sync photos from the iTunes Library with my iPod. Now that I use Aperture, there is no equivalent option to have iTunes look at the original photos in Aperture and copy them to the iPod so I can view them.
I can copy a Vault from Aperture to the iPod, but that's like copying any other data file -- it is stored, but photos cannot be viewed.

  • How do you sync photos from icloud to iphone

I went to the apple store and had to restore my phone since i was having issues with it and now i've lost all my photos.  I was told not to restore from icloud since this will cause the issues i was having to come back.  How do i sync photos from iCloud without doing a restore onto my iPhone??  I have an iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4

The restore from backup process is all or nothing, there is no way to selectively restore data. These photos, the one's you're missing, where they only in your camera roll?

  • Problem syncing photo from Aperture

I have a picture in my Aperture library (JPEG image) that displays OK in Aperture but when I sync the album to my iPhone, it appears as a black square. I have removed the entire album when syncing in iTunes, disconnected the phone, reconnected the phone to iTunes and ticked the box to add the album back to the phone. Still, the image in question is a black square.
I have also removed the photo from the Aperture album, quit Aperture, added the image back to the album and re-synced the phone but it still won't display properly.
    Any ideas?

This is the same problem I am having. And it was a problem with 3.0.1 also.
As FM said "I can not mark 'Selected Folders' in iTunes. It appears Sync phots from the folder that I want, but 'All folders' is still marked."
There appears to be no way to change from "all folders" to "selected folders". All relevant buttons are grayed out.
I would love to attach a screenshot to clarify …

  • How do I get photos from aperture to iPhone?

so far, photostream seems to be working fine as far as moving pics from my iPhone to Aperture 3/iPhoto.
After the IOS5 update, I realized I have none of the pictures on my phone I originally had.
Is there a new process to get pictures from Aperture / iPhoto to my iPhone or is it the same plug and sync routine?
    Thanks

I think the original poster may have the same issue I'm facing...
iTunes does not sync Aperture pictures to the iPhone if they originate from Photostream! That is, in Aperture I have events like "Jan 2012 Photostream", "Feb 2012 Photostream" and so on. But those events do not sync with the iPhone via iTunes! That's why the photos that originally used to be on the Photostream, but have since deleted because they have become more than 30 days old, are no longer on your iPhone.
I've been trying with AppleCare to sort out the issue, but so far they don't seem to know what's causing it. I think it's probably a bug in either Aperture or iTunes.
