Sync photos with 60GB iPod

Hi,
I have just bought a new 60GB iPod to replace my old 20GB first generation iPod. I am having trouble to transfer my photos from iPhoto to my iPod. I go though the preference menu and choose copy all photos from my iPhoto folder but then nothing happens.
Pls help....

Hi Jens,
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Try selecting Copy selected Albums only and then picking which ones you want. You might want to look at iPod 101: Put Pics on My ’Pod. It says:
"Tunes displays how many images are about to be copied to your iPod at the bottom of the dialog. If everything looks good, click OK to begin the copy process. Depending on how many photos you have and whether or not you opted to include full-resolution images, this may take a while.
Now any time you add images to your synced folder or album, iTunes will automatically update the pictures on your iPod whenever you connect it to your computer."
Is your iPod set to sync manually or automatically?
Jon

  • Problem syncing photos with Apple TV and iPod

Ever since I connected my Apple TV I have had problems syncing photos with both my iPod and my Apple TV.
The Apple TV gives me an error (no desciption) when I try to sync photos. The iPod gives me an error 39.
iPhotos is working fine. I rebuilt the library using the rebuild library feature and this has not fixed the problem.
I also rebuilt my iTunes library without success in fixing the problem.
How does it sync? Is there some kind of syncing file I need to delete that may be corrupt?
Does anyone have any ideas about what I could try?

    Just a suggestion,
for a speedier and better informed reply, post your question in the AppleTV forums.

  • Can no longer sync photos to my iPod Photo

Without any change in hardware, but AFTER installing iTunes 7 via Software Update, I can no longer sync photos to my iPod. (I have had no problems syncing music, pictures, contacts and calendars since purchasing an iMac G5 "iSight" 15 months ago.)
Music appears to sync correctly, as do calendars and contacts. But after trying to sync photos, iTunes stops with the following message: "The iPod 'my iPod' could not be synced. The required file cannot be found."
I have Restored my iPod and attempted to sync, but receive the same message.
I REPLACED my iPod's hard drive! Upon syncing, I receive the same message.
I deleted iPhoto Library/iPod photo cache folder and was then able to sync photos to iPod, BUT upon reopening iPhoto, and a forced reindex (?) of pictures resulted in about 1/3 missing.
After restoring the iPhoto Library from a backup, syncing the iPod results in the same original error. Deselecting syncing photos in iTunes removes photos from iPod, but upon syncing, same error message.
Restoring iPod again, results in same error message.
Does anyone have a solution? What required file is missing?

I too had a problem. iTunes wouldn't sync any photos nor list my iPhoto Albums.
I created a second iPhoto library and then added some photos and created several albums to see if iTunes could see the new iPhoto library. It did see the new library. I then started to add photos to it. I finally found the offending files - 4 .avi files - that for some reason when added to the library caused iTunes to balk. I removed the files and all is well. I even have other .avi files in the original library and iTunes responds normally - just those 4 caused the problem.

  • I am having trouble syncing photos with lightroom mobile. Lightroom (on computer) tells me that it's syncing but nothing appears on my I pad. Any comments?

however when I try to sync my older ipod with it and upload some new music to it, Itunes keeps telling me that all the previous songs will be erased
Yes, that's correct. If you don't have the songs that are currently on your iPod also in your new iTunes installation, they will be erased from the iPod if you sync it. Best to start afresh by first transferring all the music on your iPod back to your new computer/iTunes library.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Once all the music is safely back in your new iTunes library, you can sync your iPod as normal.

  • Help! Trouble syncing photos to the iPod touch

I have just downloaded pics from my digital camera, and I have having trouble syncing them with my iPod touch. They are all jpg files. I get an error saying:
"some (all) of my photos were not copied to my iPod because they cannot be displayed on my iPod."
Is there a certain style or size the photos need to be?

You will need to free up some more space. Regardless of the size of the photos you are trying to transfer to the iPod, you need more free space than 500mb to accommodate the photo cache.

  • Sync problems with my ipod touch

My ipod is 2 weeks old. syncing with my PC worked fine until yesterday when I put a CD into itunes and tried to sync it with my ipod. No sync high lighted therefore it wont sync can anyone help ?

I can't understand this question, can you clarify?
By 'put a CD into itunes' did you mean you were viewing a CD in itunes or you had imported the tracks from the CD into your itunes library?
On what screen were you seeing 'no sync high lighted' and what does that mean?
Do you sync your entire library automatically with your ipod, do you need to select tracks to be automatically synced, or you manually manage your ipod's library?

  • Is it possible to make photos with the Ipod nano 5G?

Is it possible to make photos with the Ipod Nano 5G?

No. But you can take a photo of the video with your Mac.
With the iPod connected to your computer, click on the iPod, open the DCIM folder & move the video file onto your desktop. Play the video & when you get to the part you want to take a picture of, put Quicktime on pause. Take a screen shot (appleshift3) or (appleshift4 for cross hair cropping) of the paused video.

  • Syncing Photos with reduced size

Initially when I sync photos between my computer and iTouch, there is an option of whether to keep the original size of those photos. After I switched to a different folder to sync photos with iTouch, I do not have that option from iTune. can someone help? How I can make that switch?
    Thanks,

This isn't a direct answer, since I'm not running Photoshop Elements on a PC, but what you describe works perfectly with geotagged photos coming from iPhoto on my Mac. Photos taken in Texas and parts of Europe west of Greenwich show up fine; photos taken in Tunisia do also. I wonder if there's something funky about the EXIF information for the photos that don't show up? For whatever it's worth, here's the data from one of my Tunisia photos that DOES show up in Places on my iPad:
    -- GPS IFD -- :
    GPS tag version : 0,0,2,2
North or South Latitude : N
    Latitude : 35°40'55.67"
East or West Longitude : E
    Longitude : 10°6'11.74"
    Altitude reference : Sea level
    Altitude : 60.2m
GPS time (atomic clock) : 7:10:10
    GPS date : 2009:04:17

  • Syncing photos with correct orientation

I know this has been mentioned in a few threads, but there hasn't been a satisfactory answer so far.
Just to summarise - when you sync photos with your iPhone, the EXIF rotation/orientation information is lost and photos are always displayed in the 4:3 orientation, and never 3:4 if required.
As near as I can tell, Apple just haven't bothered coding the orientation information (or creating a 3:4 thumbnail, I'm not sure how the ithmb format works exactly) when it is creating the photo database for syncing with the iPhone. Yet it works fine with iPhoto...
I've trawled through the Apple support pages and can't find any mention of this or how to get Apple to address such a serious problem. It's very frustrating syncing my photos to my PC, only to have them lose their orientation when syncing them back to the iPhone.

Probably the best that you can do is submit this to Apple's iPhone feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
If this is bothering enough people, maybe they'll make that change in future revisions.

  • HT2311 I cannot update my current iTunes 10.6.3 to 11.1 as required to sync photos with my iPad. I am trying to download 11.1 on my MacBook which has O

Can anyone advise how to dowload iTunes 11.1 onto a MacBook which already has 10.6.3? I get the message that 10.6.3 is the latest version when I try updating directly through the iTunes icon/app. When I go online and find and download 11.1 it does not come on my laptop. I need 11.1 to sync photos with my iPad.

Click here, buy the DVD, back up your data, install it, and run Software Update twice.

You can only sync with one computer. I would backup to one computer and then restore from backup.

  • How to sync photo with flickr ?

I used to sync my photos between iphoto and flickr, and I can't find a way to sync from "photos" with flickr.
    Any solutions ?
    Thanks,
    David

Sounds like in order to get those on the computer you might need to use an APP or 3rd party software to get them to the computer.
if you sync photos with itunes it will take them off and delete them because the photos are not on that computer anymore
