Sync Picts and Video to Audio Track

imported mp3 of song and wanted to build everything else around the song.
for ex, i have a video piece that starts a 1 min and syncs perfectly to audio. then i added pict at 30 seconds, and it shifted the video at 1 minute 5 seconds later.
is there a way to not have it shift what is already in time?

This seems to be the major drawback - making use of iMovie 08 near NON.
I will stay with iM HD 6, FCE and FCP. May be it is Apple way of pushing
uppward and forward.
SO THEY OUGHT TO REDUCE THE PRICE WITH SAME as for the investment of
iLife 08 for the people that goes for FinalCutExpress !!
This was the most disapointing upgrade I've seen so far.

AirPlay Video - Multiple Audio Tracks

Has anyone had problems with AirPlay video, when the video has more than one audio track?
I'm streaming content (both TV shows and movies) successfully from my iPhone 4 via the new Apple TV to my flatscreen TV.
Video that has has audio in more than one audio track (e.g. English, French, etc) plays fine on my iPhone 4. I'm able to switch between audio tracks as usual. But when I use Airplay to send them to my Apple TV, only one audio track will play. Even if I go in, while the video is playing via AirPlay, and switch the audio track, what's playing remains the old audio track.
Has anyone else seen this? I'm assuming it's a glitch in AirPlay that will hopefully be fixed by Apple soon ...

Hey, I had the same problem. I figured it out though. You have to change the settings on your apple tv. Go to the audio/Video settings on the apple tv. There is a setting called "Audio Language". Change it from "default" to whichever language you prefer. You video will now stream in the desired language. It is a bit inconvenient and I wish apple would modify the interface to allow fast language switching. But, at least this will work.

Video embedded audio track names wrong in iOS6?

I have an iPad 1 (iOS 5) and iPad 2 (iOS4) and an iPad 3 (new iPad) with iOS6
For our application we have a webapp that can show video. The video is transcoded to m4v and containst embedded subtitles and languages.
In the iOS4 and iOS 5 device I can maximize the video and select an audio track from the list (Englis, French, Spanish). If I run the same webapp in iOS6 and select the same movie I can select languages as well but they are named "Stereo, Stereo, Stereo".
To make it even worse: i also have an iPod touch with iOS6. If I press the "Language and subtitle" button while playing the movie (again same webapp and movie) the player removes the bottom controls at all, and it is not possible to play/pause etc anymore.
Are these bugs in the iOS6 player? If so, is Apple working on a hotfix update to solve them ?

Additional info that I just found:
the movie runs in an webapp in the video tag
I start the movie with embedded audio and subtitles in portrait orientation of the device
When the movie is playing I turn the device to landscape
Now the subtitle button shows up. Press the subtitle button
The controls at the bottom seem to dissappear
Turn the device back to portrait
Press the Done button
See the Audio / Subitle selection menu popping up shortly above the movie
The controls now are restored.
Seems that the audio / subtitle selection menu is opening behind the movie. This happens in iPod only, it does not happen in iPad with iOS6. It also does not happen with the normal video player App.

When I drag a synchonised clip to timeline, can I turn off the video's audio track only without breaking apart clips?

I have preparred many clips by synchonising them with audio recorded on H4N - and have these in keywords.
When I drag them to the timeline, do I have to break apart each clip item to turn off the video's audio track or is there a shortcut to doing this?

For each clip you can go to the audio portion of inspector and uncheck/disable the tracks you don't desire. That would take longer than Tom's method, but I think the audio won't show up as a blank later on.

For Videos try swiping the videos left and right and see if a Delete button appears. If it does tap it to delete. Otherwise you will have to unsync the videos.

Apple doesn't enable you to copy certain items from your iPhone to your computer e.g.
- songs that have not been bought in the iTunes store
- photos from photo album (only allows photos transferred from camera roll)
This is frustrating if you have lost these items on your computer - e.g. accidental deletion, hard disk failure.
Its not that its not possible - just that the functionality is not included in iTunes. Its an example of Apple prioritising revenues over customer experience - hey they can do what they want with their reputation but should take care not to frustrate customers too much.
However the Senuti (free) and PhoneView ($20) allows you to transfer items either way between computer and iPhone. Ive tried both and they work great. These are for OS X and there are many other applications available online for both Windows/Mac that allow you to treat the iPhone as just a plugged in disk too. You can try iPod Photo Liberator (Mac & Windows) iPodCopy (Mac and Windows Versions) Keith's iPod Photo Reader (Mac only).

Video/Stereo Audio tracks won't edit together

My video and audio tracks no longer edit as a (linked) unit.
For example, when I select a clip in the timeline and apply the razor tool it only affects the video track....then I must also select the audio file and apply the razor tool again.
I notice this is now a condition with any FCP project I open...so I am guessing it is a Preference issue. Somewhere along the path, I must have changed something...but haven't found the way back and I am sure there is a simple solution.
I am using FCP 4.5
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Your clips are coming into the Timeline unlinked. Click the link toggle button near the upper right corner of the Timeline window and then bring your clips in.

N95 Video - bad audio tracks!

hello again,
i have an annoying problem:
- i can use and correctly play videos from the N95 (mainly i use quicktime pro)
but now i just realized, that with another beloved program (proshow) there is a loud tucking sound if the video/audio is played. we could track this down to wrong or missing information in the codecs being used and/or are corrupted.
so it seems to be that some perfect programmed players with integrated codecs can handle this missing informations, but not every program can do so :-(
any other person having this problem? is there even a solution? will nokia make an update to correct the audio-track if it is corrupt?

Sources with 5.1 and 2.0 audio tracks in file

I have a quicktime file that contains 8 audio tracks - the first is 5.1 (i.e. 6 channels), the second is 2.0 (i.e. the stereo downmix of the 5.1).
Tracks 3-8 are mono iso channels
Is there a way of PPro correctly interpreting the tracks as such?
Currently it defaults to presenting them as 3 x 5.1 tracks and modifying the audio channels offers the options of them all being 5.1 or all stereo or all mono etc

looks like when changing the audio channels its all or nothing, so all 5.1 or all stereo/mono. i was able to make a multichannel sequence and then modify the audio channels of the video clip. i set the audio tracks to 1, then made the audio channels 5.1 and brought in just the 5.1 track, then made it stereo selecting ch7/8 and brought in just the stereo track. i changed the mixer to send the stereo track to ch7/8 for export too. but now on export it wants to export as 5.1 or multichannel 8 mono/stereo. so even while getting it configured for the timeline, the export isn't smart enough to export 5.1+stereo... maybe im missing something, or premiere is really crippled for audio.

Trouble with Premiere timeline moving up and down multiple audio tracks.

I have a project that has multiple audio tracks, aver 40. Only a portion of them are visible even when I use the new side scroll, I don't know the official name but the scroll on the side that Increases or decrease the size of the track so you can see the waveform. Even when I hide the video tracks and the other preview panels I still can't see all my audio tracks. How do I scroll up and down so I can see the tracks that I want to work on. You know, like in every other program I have ever used.

I feel like there's a bit of egg on my face. Rereading your message and messing with the horizontal bar I realized for both horizontal and vertical bars I grab in the center and drag left or right, up or down. There's a short cut for scrolling up and down your timeline tracks, hold down ctrl/cmd and then use the scroll wheel on your mouse, and that's what I was doing for my project last night. Ah growing pains of learning a new workspace.

Can the arrangement of Video 7 Audio tracks be changed in Elements 11

I am accustomed to Prem. pro where the video tracks are grouped & the audio tracks are grouped in a different group on the timeline.
Can this be done in Elements 11?

Only to a degree. In PrE, one can display either Audio Tracks, or Video Tracks, or both, grouped as they are, with Video Tracks and Audio Tracks next to each other.
Personally, I like the PrPro layout better, as I nearly always work on Video first, and then Audio later on. However, many PrPro users beg for the PrE layout. I find it occupies a lot of real estate, and really like the separation much better.
I am going to Move this thread out to the main PrE Forum, so that others can comment, as they will likely not see it here.

Er, how are you supposed to edit the video to an audio track as in making a music video where the video has to be lined up to the audio track?
Why is there no timeline? This looks like a big step backwards if this function is gone.

Syncing two clips to one audio track

I am shooting an interview with two cameras; one camera is connected to a lapel mic, which is the main source of audio. To synchronize the second camera with the audio of the first camera I clap my hands loudly to cause a spike in the audio of both devices as a guideline to where I should "mark in" the clips; I know it is probably amateurish, but it works...usually. In this instance, when I try to "mark in" at the same points using FCP I am unable to set at the exact fraction of a second, resulting in one piece of footage 1/4th of a second ahead of the other.
Is there a way to adjust the audio to be editable at 1/60 of a second (current setting is 1/30 of a second) or a recommended method of synchronizing two video clips to one audio track?

Update:
I just noticed that the two clips are synchronized at the beginning of the 25 minute video footage, but begin to de-sync about 1/4 to 1/2 of the way through the footage.
