Sync Play count between iPod & iTunes when manually update selected

Hello,
I use manual updating on iTunes simply because I have so much music, it wont fit onto my iPod, so I manually select the songs I want on.
I have been reading and find that doing this stops the iPod and iTunes from updating the Play count and Last played. Doesnt this sound a bit daft?
People have played suggestions such as creating certain playlists that are automatically synced with the iPod, but my songs are all in playlists.
Is there any addon or way that you can get the iPod and iTunes to automatically sync that part so it updates? Without turning on automatic syncing?
Thanks

Playcounts only sync if you are syncing. They don't if you're manually managing your music. Sorry.

  • Won't sync play counts from iPod and IS automatically updating

Well, the subject pretty much says it all...for some reason when I connect my iPod it won't sync the play counts. Searching for other posts on this I see that you have to be set to automatically sync everything but it IS doing that (meaning, not having "manually manage music and videos" checked and having "sync music" and "all songs and playlists" checked, yes?). So when I connect it, it syncs and seems to do everything it should be doing except the play counts. I use Last.fm so this is really bugging me! What should I do? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Syncing play counts between two computers

Is it possible to sync play counts (and other settings such as favorites, playlists, backups, etc) between two computers?
I purchased a new computer for school, but I am interested in continuing to use my old one as well.  The old one is where my info is accumulated of course, but I would like to add my counts, playlists, ratings etc. from my old computer onto the new one, and hopefully sync them between each other as well.
As unnecessary as this sounds, I am wondering if it is possible and how it can be achieved.  Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you

iOS devices sync to one computer.
It is not possible (at least not easily) to sync to multiple computers.
What you can do is copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the existing computer to the new computer.  Then everything in iTunes on the new computer will be exactly as it was on the old computer.
There is no syncing, at least not within iTunes.
Other programs do exists that will allow you to sync specific folders between multiple computers.

  • How to sync play count between new iPad and Mac?

I recently get a new iPad, and I listen to music on it a lot.  I would like to sync the "recently played" and "play count" with my computer, as I can with my iPhone, but it doesn´t seem to be doing that.  I have the ipad fully updated, and my computer too!
Any ideas how to do this?
On another note, my iTunes is allways above the other windows, I have checked my preferences and asked to NOT do this, but it persists.  Any ideas here?

Forgot to mention, I am NOT using itunes match

  • IPad not syncing play counts

    Hi,
My iPad isn't syncing play counts when I connect it to my PC.
I use the 'manually manage music' feature to put music on my iPad, usually about 10-15 albums to listen to at a time.
But after I've played them, the play counts don't update when I sync my iPad with my PC when I want to change my music.
They do update on the iPad itself, but won't update on iTunes on my PC.
This means I have to manually update my play counts in iTunes, which is very frustrating and time-consuming.
Has anyone had this issue before and did they find a solution?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,
I might be able to help you with this. I do not have an iPad but I can tell you that I also use PowerBooks and PowerMacs that are running Mac OS 10.5.8 (Leopard with updates). I have the same problem with my iPhone 5 and what it comes down to is the version of iTunes that is supported on the older Macs that use the PowerPC processor instead of the newer Intel based systems. The last version of ITunes to run on the PPC based Macs including iMacs and iBooks is not capable of syncing with the newer iPhones and I am fairly certain that will apply to your iPad as well. You also will not be able to use ICLOUD on you iMac as well. I hope this helps you snd if you have any further questions please let me know.
    Cheers,
    Dr. Matt

If you have manually manage set, you do not sync.
If you want to sync, select the content desired to sync and sync.
This is all covered in the User's Guide.

  • Manually Managed Ipod - Syncing Play Count with Itunes Library

I've had a 80gb 5th Generation Classic for 7 years or so, ive always manually managed it. Now that i've bought an iphone 5 with enough storage for my itunes library i want to transfer my music onto my new phone, so i don't need to carry round an ipod and iphone!
However my play counts in my library are all very low as i don't play music on my laptop too often.
Is there a way to get the play counts off my manually managed ipod on to my laptop to put on my phone? I would really like to continue my play counts from my ipod to my iphone.
    Much appreciated.

Hey, apologies for not getting back sooner, ive been working away.
I've just tried the script out and i appear to be having some issues.
When i script more than a handful of songs (15+ ish), i get the following error:
    Line: 136
    Char: 53
Error: The track is not modifiable
    Code: A0040203
    Source (null)
and consequently none of the stats are transferred over.
If i script in small batches i seem to be able to script and also focus in on the song that appears to be causing the issue, and the error pops up again when i only script the suspect song. However the stats also get scrpted over from the song. I then pick the next 10 songs or so and script and carry on. With over 7500 songs this is a long long exercise.
Do you know any reason for the above error, and is there anything to solve it?
I must point out im scripting from my iphone 5. My ipod was left at work so ill try that tomorrow night. The itunes version im using is the latest build, 11.0.0.163
    Cheers.

  • Syncing ratings between iPod & iTunes

Is there any way to sync the ratings between my iPod and iTunes? I keep my song collection on an external drive at home so I usually rate songs with my iPod when I'm at work (via the same laptop).

    I got it now.
You are Manually manage music and play the song on the iPod thru the laptop at work.
Set the iPod to Auto sync at home and select the playlists (or all) you want on the iPod.
When you get to work, plug it in and tell it NO to sync the library on this computer to the iPod.
You should now be able to use it fine in iTunes.
When you get home, plug it in and it will ask if you want to auto sync. Click OK.
iTunes makes it sound as if it will actually erase everything on the iPod & pu tit back on. It doesn't.the music again. It doesn't really do this.
It should however, sync the ratings.
If you make any other changes to the songs (names, comments, etc.) those will not get sync'd to the computer and will get deleted from the iPod and the original songs put back in place.
Some other fellow does the same here -> http://www.feaverish.com/bygones/183

  • Copying Play Count from iPod to iTunes?

Hello, is it possible to copy the play count of songs from iPod to iTunes? I do not have my iPod syncing with iTunes (and do not want to have that feature enabled). Also, I do not merely want the play count to be overwritten, but added onto.
    Thank you,
    Victor Ly

Thanks for replying. I do not use autosync because the songs on my iPod do not come from a single computer, but the four computers I personally have and two other ones (my girlfriend's and another friend's). Also, I have a Nano and my song collection is way more than my Nano can hold. Just the music I have purchased off iTunes won't fit onto my Nano.
If anyone knows of an alternative way, please let me know. Is there anyway I can turn autosync on for the play count update and not have it do anything else? Thanks.

  • HT1386 i am trying to sync songs onto my ipod touch when i have no songs at the moment but my itunes is telling me i have 544 songs which i dont. how do i solve this?

i am trying to sync songs onto my ipod but itunes is telling me i have no more memory because i have 544 songs when i have no contex in my music. how do i solve this?

Assuming the songs play in iTunes
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • How do I stop a synced iPad from adding play counts to my iTunes?

I organise my parents' iPad 3 with iTunes, they're playing music on it and their plays are automatically added to my iTunes play count. For several reasons, I don't want this to happen. I can't find any setting to disable it though. Can anyone help?
    OS: Windows 7
    iTunes version: 10.6.3.25
    The new iPad, iOS 5.1.1
    Thanks!

My girfriend and I used to share a desktop. What we had to remind ourselves to do, was to make sure the correct AppleID is being used when we'd each sync. In other words, this was the best way to keep our music seperate.
    Now, for your play counts...
Get on the desktop with your AppleID being used on iTunes. Right-click on each song your parents have 'overplayed' (or just which songs you don't want reflected as your plays)... scroll down on that right-click menu to "Reset Plays". This will set the songs recent play count to zero.
Once you've done this to all the songs necessary, sync your device with your AppleID.
Now, from now on... DO NOT let your parents sync their iPad on your AppleID. Make sure they use their own.
If your parents are anything like mine... but its best to keep our music libraries segregated.

  • ITunes not syncing play counts from iOS devices

I realize this is a small thing to some people, but my music-listening abnd playlisting habits are fairly OCD and are depenedent on play count tallies....
Long story short, I updated my iTunes software the other day to 10.5.3. Now, when I plug my iPad (1) and iPhone(4s) in to the iMac to sync, the playcounts and last played data does not appear to by syncing. Is anyone else having this problem?
I actually spoke to someone at applecare, and they suggested selecting "homesharing updates playcount" in preferences, which I did, but that does not appear to affect anything when I amsyncing directly from the iOS devices. I have not started using itunes match yet, partially because of concerns about play counts, so I am still syncing the old-fashioned way, with a cord.
    Any help would be appreciated.
