Sync plugin causes firefox to crash on startup.
After I install the sync plugin, firefox crashes on startup. Firefox will work in safe-mode. Furthermore firefox will run once in normal mode after being in safe-mode, but then revert back to crashing until the next safe-mode execution.
I have 4 computers running firefox w/ sync and only one of them displays this problem.
I have uninstalled and then installed the sync plugin.
I have uninstalled and the installed firefox.
I have run firefox -profile-manager and created a new profile.
Thank you for the info regarding the .so and and log file.
When firefox crashes nothing is appended to the log file. So I started looking at the access times on WeaveCrypto.so. When firefox successfully starts in normal mode, the access time on the .so in the x86_64 directory is set. However, when firefox crashes the access time does not get set (ie. WeaveCrypto.so is never accessed.)
I am still confident that this has something to do the extension Firefox Sync 1.5.1 since if it is uninstalled or disabled everything works perfectly. On a side note, this problem is not new to this computer it has occurred with all versions of the extension starting at (I think) 1.3.
It does not appear to be an extension conflict. The crashes still occur if I disable every extension except Firefox Sync.

Latest Flash plugin causes firefox to crash when printing
Firefox will crash anytime I attempt to print a webpage. It doesn't happen in safemode. Disabling the Adobe Flash Plugin removes the problem. The Flash Plugin is the current version from adobe.
Tylerdowner,
Uninstalled and reinstalled Flash. No change. The only thing that seems to consistently resolve the problem is disabling the Flash plugin.
I tried creating a new profile, but when I transfer the data suggested in this:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
I get an error window when opening firefox with the new profile ...something about security settings not working correctly...but I can print every time even though the Flash plugin appears to be installed and enabled. So I assume there is some kind of problem with my current profile. Any suggestions on how to find and correct it or a way to get most of my data into a new profile...that works...would be appreciated. -
Java plugin causing Firefox to crash
I installed the newest Java plugin today and it asked me to restart Firefox. Now it crashes as soon as I open it. It will not open in Safe Mode because it won't stay open for more than half a second. I tried re-installing it and restarting my computer and it's having the same problem. I can't open about:crashes because it won't stay open.
Make sure that you've installed the 32 bit Java version because Firefox is a 32 bit application.

FIrefox repeatedly crashes at startup or just after opening a webpage
Firefox repeatedly crashes on startup or just after opening a new page, I've tried downgrading my browser to FF 18 & the problem still occurs. Firefox won't even run properly in safe mode. I have included the latest crash report: bp-d8715a6c-6208-4420-8df4-cae752130307
Hi Spirax, if your new profile works after a restart or two, you may want to start back up in your old profile and use the Reset feature. This is a lot easier than manually copying data to your new profile, although that is another option.

Google Reader comments cause Firefox to crash.
Clicking the link to add a comment to a Google Reader entry causes Firefox to crash unexpectedly. I've only had this problem since the 3.6.12 update. So far as I can tell, I don't have any problematic add-ons, and my browser is up to date.
This can be problem with one of the fonts that is used on that page and that is corrupted.
You can use the System File Checker to check if font files are missing or corrupted.

I am trying to stream radio shows through the website for This American Life. As soon as I open the site and click on a link, I get the message about an unresponsive script. The next click to tell it to continue or ignore causes Firefox to crash -- the fade to white/not responding thing. The same site runs just fine on IE.

Firefox consistently crashes at startup
Firefox is consistently crashing at startup even in safe mode. Only Firefox is giving me problems, Internet Explorer and other programs works fine.
One of these two things usually happen:
The first is that it will slow the computer to a crawl and then Werfault will close the program. This usually happens when I first try Firefox after booting. Under Event Viewer it generates the following two Application errors:
Event 1000 - Faulting application firefox.exe, version 11.0.0.4454, time stamp 0x4f5ecc44, faulting module MSVCR80.dll, version 8.0.50727.6195, time stamp 0x4dcddbf3, exception code 0xc0000006, fault offset 0x0003a7f7, process id 0x1674, application start time 0x01cd092f8d05a15e.
Event 1005 - Windows cannot access the file C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.6195_none_d09154e044272b9a\msvcr80.dll for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Firefox because of this error.
Program: Firefox
File: C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.6195_none_d09154e044272b9a\msvcr80.dll
Additional Data
Error value: C000009C

The second thing that consistently happens not long after the above is if I try Firefox it will instead generate the crash reporter and show this:

Oddly enough, if I screw with it long enough it may start to work and when it does it will start up and work fine from then on until I shut down my PC. Once it's boot up again, the consistent crashing returns.
I've searched Google and have tried everything to no avail. I've done clean installs of Firefox, system restore, chkdsk for both system files and bad blocks, registry cleaner, uninstalling all versions of Visual Runtime C++, full scan for malware/virus, etc. and nothing has worked. Help please. That can be a problem with accessing the secmod.db file in the profile folder.
Rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) in the Firefox Profile Folder in case there is a problem with the file.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Adobe Flash XI repeatedly causes Firefox to crash
I'm running Firefox 20.0.1 on Windows 7. Flash XI frequently, but not always or consistently, causes a particular website to crash and sometimes causes Firefox to stop responding. Sometimes when Firefox stops responding I have to use the Task Manager to shut it down; other times it starts responding after a few seconds. The website is an important one I visit daily so there may be others I'm not aware of. The problem began two or three months ago (I always install updates). I can't force t to happen. When it happens I can get one of two prompts: "A script on this page... or A movie on this page... is causing Flash to run showly" followed by the options of waiting or stopping the script. Any suggestions?
Install Flash Player in Safe Mode.
Shut down the computer.
Press the power button. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be pressed as soon as possible after startup, but not before the startup sound.
Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Startup will take longer than usual.
Login to your account. Launch Safari.
Enter this address in the Safari address bar manually. Click Enter.
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Follow the prompts. Install Flash Player.
Once done, quit Safari and restart the computer from in the menu bar. -
I disabled extensions per Firefox instructions and discovered that 'firefox gui element capture plug in 1.0' is the one causing my problems. Problems being Firefox either crashes or refuses to open an additional window, and then crashes.
I am not sure why this started happening, however please update to version 32.0.3 when its available.
The places we can troubleshoot is in the Applications menu under preferences.

Firefox 7 crashes (on startup) when running on Win7 as standard user.
Upgraded from 6.02 to 7.0 (automatically) on Win7. Running as standard user, FF 7 crashes on startup. Running with admin rights, FF starts up ok. Was running 6.02 as standard user with no issues. Disabled all plug-ins, and same result. Submitted this without the crash ID as well, but now have figured out how to supply it. Cannot see how to startup FF on win7 in 'safe' mode. Shift key during launch doesn't work. No menu items for 'start ff in safe mode.
Here's a workaround for users using Oracle ESSO version 11.1.1.5.0 on win7. The workaround removes the startup of the v-GO helper object for mozilla.
Note that this also means no SSO support for FireFox.
1st - on installation of ESSO - try turning off the Mozilla helper (custom install).
A registry fix will also work
(Try at your own risk and backup before editing the registry.) YMMV for this workaround and other versions/flavors of SSO/Tivoli/v-GO and Windows.
Key is
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Passlogix\Extensions\AccessManager\StartupApps]
Remove the line starting "MozHOPath"
Restart v-GO SSO or reboot -

Is Java 10.15.2.3 causing Firefox to crash?
Firefox keeps crashing when trying to open a Java applet. We have uninstalled and re-installed Java, tried older versions of java, uninstalled and re-installed Firefox, tried older version of Firefox, updated plug-ins, enables and disabled different plug-ins, and tried every other troubleshooting suggestion we could find, but we have yet to be able to open a Java applet without Firefox crashing. This problem is only with Firefox, it does not happen with Chrome or IE.
