Sync, restore, and issue with Google Calendar

I have several problems: I somehow lost my data prior to Jan1, 08 on my BB 8703 sometime after syncing with Google Calendar (may be completely coincidental). Now I have a dilemma I have a backup from a couple of weeks ago but I don't want to lose all of the new data I've put in lately.
How do I add in the data from the last few years back into my BB? How can I save what I have now? Can I sync with the Google calendar? 2 way? one way? do I sync from before or after I restore?
I'm very confused and worried about permanently losing my data.

There is a brilliant little App called 'Spanning Sync' which does just that! It syncs your iCal to your Google calendar and it is very easy to set up and use. However, it only lets you sync with one Google account per licence. If you need to sync to more than one Google account, you need to buy more licences. I use it very successfully and would recommend it to you without reservation.

  • Sync issues with Google Calendar and e-mail alerts

    Hello,
I'm experiencing a lot of problems with iCal while I'm trying to sync it with Google Calendar. I have correctly inserted my Google account information into iCal, but:
    when I create a new event and I disable the e-mail alert and save it, it automatically turns on the e-mail alert! Is there a way to disable by default all alerts? I have already tried to go to Settings - Advanced and select “Disable all alerts” with no result;
all the events I create into iCal are correctly synced with Google Calendar and I can correctly read them on the web app, but in my android device they don't have the time information (they are listed as all-day events)

GooSync would do the trick - http://www.goosync.com/
Plz be aware that Goosync nor Google Contacts supports all field from your phone so it is not an 100% backup unfortunately

  • Syncing iPad iPhone iMac with Google Calendar, everything you want to know

Ok Guys, I just spent the last 4 hours going nuts with experimentations, trials and errors, and I finally think I figured it out, so bear with me here because it's not that simple. And excuse me for the poor english, I'm from Brazil.
Ok, in the iMac you're gonna set up a CalDAV account with your google login/password. It will work flawlessly and you won't have any problems, it will always update the google calendar and be updated by it. Just remember to use CMD+R to refresh it whenever you want, so you don't have to wait the 15 minutes or whatever you set in preferences.
Now let's talk iPad and iPhone. First of all, you have 2 options to sync calendars with Google, you can use protocol CalDAV or protocol Exchange.
Google's setup instructions for CalDAV (both iPhone and iPad) is here: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=151674
The instructions for both iPhone and iPad for Exchange is here:
    http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740
(just be sure to select calendar only, cause I'm assuming you're using IMAP or other protocol for mail and contacts).
The main difference between CalDAV and Exchange is that Exchange supports push updates, wich is instant, while with CalDAV you have to fetch manually (every time you open the calendar app) or another time setting (like 15 min, one hour, etc).
Well, my experiences revealed that the iPhone and the iPad will sync flawlessly with Google Calendar and the iMac, without any problems, BUT as long as you use Exchange AND Push to update the calendars (CalDAV doesn't support Push, and you need Push so the iPad sync works).
Let me repeat that: IF and ONLY IF you have BOTH Exchange protocol configured and PUSH enabled iPad and iPhone will sync flawlessly. But many people (me included) dont want to use push because a) it has a battery hit b) they don't need instant updates c) it consumes cellular data when you're not on Wifi, and if you don't have an unlimited plan that's not good.
So, if you TURN OFF PUSH with Exchange sync, the iPad will stop syncing properly. Curiously, the iPhone will continue syncing properly.
What I discovered is that, on the iPad, doesn't matter if you use CalDAV or Exchange, the moment you turn OFF push notifications it won't sync manually anymore. And by that I mean that with push off the iPad will not refresh calendar data when you open the calendar app (as it should since push is off and manual fetch is selected).
To sum it up, I discovred that with push OFF in both the iPad and the iPhone (either with Exchange or CalDAV):
    - The iPhone will update both google calendar and the iMac;
    - The iphone will be updated by both google calendar and the iMac and events created in the iPad;
    - The iPad will NOT be updated when you open the calendar app, so it won't see any changes made either on the iPhone, iPad or Google Calendar, but when you create new events in the iPad you will see the data icon spinning so it will send that event to the other 3, but it will not recieve anything.
On macrumors forum people discovered that on the iPad, if you open your calendar, close it, change settings from manually fetch to 15 minutes or whatever, it will sync the next time you open your calendar. But it's unreliable (doesn't work every time), not to mention that you won't want to do that every time you need to sync your calendar !
What about the iPhone ? Well, in my experiences I found out that it doesn't matter if you use Exchange OR CalDAV, it will manually sync with push off every time you open the calendar app. Just a sidenote: the iPhone wasn't manually refreshing with push off as well, just like the iPad, but as soon as I rebooted it started to sync manually every single time and it has been so far. But the iPad didn't sync manually every time even after I rebooted it.
To end it all, how to know if the calendar is manually syncing with Push OFF ? Well, just open the calendar app and after 5 seconds you should see the data spinning logo right next to the 3G or Wifi icon in the status bar. It must happen EVERY time you open the calendar app (you don't even need to force quit the calendar app for it to happen, it must happen every time you hit home and then open the calendar again). If it's not spinning (recieving data) 5 seconds after you opened the calendar app, it's not manually syncing, so on the iPhone you should reboot and on the iPad there's no fix I found so far (besides the unreliable fix of chaning the fetch time like I said before).
Oh, I did all these tests with an iPhone 3GS running iOS4 (don't complain it's not 4.2.1, cause the iPhone IS working, the problem is with the iPad), and an iPad running 4.2.1.
I just hope this thread gets attention because It almost drove me nuts to figure out all these things.
    Cheers,
    Felipe Raul

An update: I am seeing the CalDAV account sync more frequently than the 15 minute interval I have Fetch set to, sometimes as soon as 5-6 minutes. This is however going in/out of the calendar app multiple times... Every once in a which it will update.
I've found no pattern as to what triggers the sync. It doesn't seem to matter if I go into another app or not, or whether I close out the calendar app from the task menu. It's just totally random.
You might say, "what's wrong with just letting it fetch every 15 minutes as it is schedule to do?" Well, most of the time this would be ok, but there are occasionally moments when a decision must be made and an up-to-the-minute current accurate calendar is required for this to happen.
At this point, I'm going to have to keep my priority/vital calendars syncing via Exchange/push, and use CalDAV/push for the less vital calendars and at least have control over calendar colors with those.
Also, just wanted to mention that all the above testing has been over a stable wifi connection, rather than 3G or Edge, in case it makes a difference. (I don't think it does.)

  • How do I sync my iphone 4 with google calendar

Can you please help me? Google calendar is able to put new dates into my Iphone cal. How do I get my existing dates synchronised with google Calendar?

    1) Is there any way I can disable my cellular data transfer? I dont have an unlimited data plan, so I would like to enable mobile data only when I want to use it.
You can disable this only on airplane mode. It is best to actually have a data plan because it costs varying on provider. Some are a nickel each MB making it $50 a GB and people rack it up to 5GB or higher sometimes.
    2) I have synced my contacts with Gmail. It shows me all my 1600 contacts. Is there anyway I can make my phone show only the contacts with a phone number?
You can't filter out contacts unless it's in groups. You would have to go on your contacts on gmail and have non-phone contacts moved to a new group or removed completely.
    3) My WiFi turns off when I put my phone on standby and it goes to mobile network by default. Only when I take it off standby, wifi comes back to life. Is there any way I can change that as I want WiFi to be connected all the time?
WiFi mode is on 24/7 only by a wall charger or computer-always-on USB sync. When the iPhone is put on sleep mode, the WiFi stays on (if) the charging outlet provided is left on.
    4) How do I sync google calendar with my iPhone calendar?
Go to settings>mail>add mail>exchange>Gmail account info>(server: m.google.com) and then it'll ask calendar/contacts choices and mail is required to be disabled.

  • Sync Calendars like "Calendar", "Home", and "Work" with Google Calendar

When I go into the iCal program on my mac, I have three calendars that I assume iCloud/iCal creates automatically for you. The ones that are showing up for me include: "Calendar", "Home", and "Work". All of these three calendars are under the iCloud subheading. Under the Gmail subheading, I have my google calendar. I would like to be able to sync these three iCloud calendars with my google calendar, as when I create a new event in iCal, it does not show up in Google Calendar. How can I make this happen? Also, when I create an event from Google Calendar, it shows up on iCal and all of my iOS devices, however, it does not show up in iCloud.com's calendar. Why is this, and how can I fix it?

    theappleone wrote:

You can't.  That's not how it works.
In the iCal app, indiviudal calendars exist either locally on you Mac or in the "cloud" on a server like iCloud, Google, Yahoo!, Exchange etc.
Logging on to your iCloud account at icloud.com will only gain you access to your iCloud calendars much as logging on your Google Calendars account will only gain you access to your Google calendars.

  • Issues with Google Calendar subscriptions syncing.

Until today, the calendars I subscribe to on Google Calendar were showing up in my Calendar app (and by extension, Notification Center). Now they're gone, and I didn't change any settings. • Is anybody else having issues with Google Calendar events showing up incorrectly on weekends only.

My Google Calendar syncs with my iPhone and it seems that since the last IOS upgrade, weekend events are showing up incorrectly.  For instance, an event that should be Sunday 7pm until Monday 7:30am shows up on the calendar view from Sunday 7:30am until 7:00pm.  When I click on the event to edit it, it says that it is Sunday 7p-Monday 7:30a (which is correct); it's just displaying in the wrong timeslots on the calendar view.  My Time Zone is set correctly, and this is only happening to events on the weekend.  Other events that are identical show up correctly on weekdays (Monday - Friday).

    So, don't use youtube.

  • Syncing Samsung Note II with Google Calendar

    Hi All.
I had a problem where info I added to my Google Calendar on my PC would go to my phone, but entries in my phone would not sync to Google.
I seem to have found a solution: Google will only sync to Google if you enter it in the Google Calendar app on your phone. If you enter info on the built in calendar app, it will sync with the Google Calendar ON THE PHONE but NOT to Google Cloud (or whatever it is called).
I didn't know the difference between the two, and thought, if they are both synced on the phone, why not to Google? Well, just because, it seems! ;-)
So, the Google Calendar is the one you must use on the phone if you want it to sync. And the Google Calendar is the BLUE one; stupidly (IMHO), they are both called "Calendar" under apps. The green one is the Samsung model; when you tap it, it comes up with a brown border. When you tap the Google Calendar -- the one you need to add events into to have them sync -- the border is blue by default.
Hope this helps anyone else having problems!

Ann154 is right and I provided the steps below. I recently got a replacement for my Note 2 from the insurance. The Samsung Calendar App on my phone displayed all entries in my Google Calendar (online) and would display new entries I added via the Samsung Calendar app. However, my Google Calendar wouldn't display any entries added via the Samsung Calendar app.  Very annoying, but here's a simple solution (assumes you've already linked your gmail calendar to your phone):
    Solution:
    Open Samsung Calendar
Hit menu button to open popup list
Select "Calendars" from the popup list
Select "Display" button in the bottom left
Scroll down to the section for your Google Calendar, make sure your gmail calendar is checked and check any additional gmail calendars that you want to display in your phone's calendar (e.g. weather, moon, etc.)This section will have the Google logo and your gmail address
Scroll down to the section for your Samsung Calendar, UNCHECK your Samsung calendar. This section will have the Samsung logo and your gmail address
Select "Done" button in the top right
Select the back arrow in the top left to go back to your calendar
Now, all entries you add in your Samsung Calendar App will be displayed in your Google Calendar.
I hope this helps someone else who's having this problem.

  • Calendar having Issues with Google Calendar (2-factor auth. enabled)

I have enabled two-factor authentication on my Google account.  I have added that account to Yosemite's accounts and enabled the Calendar.  I have generated an App password from Google and have entered that one as my password. The calendars show up in the Calendar app.  After a day or so, the calendar stops syncing and I get this error on Calendar app:
My calendar list also shows up this warning message and when I click it shows me the warning above:
If I get another password from Google, the problem persists.  The only way to fix is if I do the following:
Remove the Gmail account from my computer
Add it back again and enter a new password generated by Google
    Enable calendar support
This is something I cannot be doing every day and frankly it is quite annoying.  I believe the problem lies within Calendar app losing its authentication with Gmail

Unfortunately, I already tried this several times prior to posting here.  The system won't let me add the same account more than once, and continues to prompt me for a password multiple times for each service.

  • IPhone Calendar - merging two calendars and connecting with Google

I've spent all morning trying to sync my iPhone Calendar with Google Calendar. I've synced it with CalDav but in the process it seems to have created a new calendar on the iPhone and hasn't synced any of my original iPhone calendar entries onto Google. Can I merge the two calendars on iPhone?
Also I'm not sure how the two calendars communicate with each other. Do they just sync when I connect my phone to my computer or can I make them communicate whilst not connected? I'd rather they didn't connect permanently as I understand this drains the battery.

If you are having trouble syncing your iPhone 5s with Google calendars, here is a solution that worked for me. I do not use gmail, so following Googles instructions did not work.
Tap Settings on the Home Screen.
    Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select Add Account.
    Choose Other.
Tap Add CalDAV Account under Calendars.
Type "https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user//www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user" (substitute your email, and without the quotation marks).
For user name, enter the email address that you use to sign in to Google.
    Enter your Google Calendar Password.
Enter "Google Calendar" in the description field.
    Tap Next at the top.
If you get an SSL error, click Advanced and make sure SSL is On.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to sync my Tungston E with Google Calendar?   if so, how do I do it??  I have IE 7...

Goosync is ota and can't be synced with a cable. Which requires internet access for the Tungsten E which doesn't come natively on the device.
Do you meet that requirement of having a means of connecting your device to the internet?

  • Have thunderbolt and need to sync ical with google calendar in order to use.  Any suggestions?

Have a thunderbolt and MacBook.  Need to sync ical with google calendar as thunderbolt supports google calendar.  Any suggestions?

I think we may be talking about two different things. Thunderbolt is the new two way display port on Mac Book Pros and Apple displays.
Thunderbolt (originally codenamed Light Peak) is an interface for connecting peripheral devices to a computer via an expansion bus. Thunderbolt was developed by Intel and brought to market with technical collaboration from Apple Inc. It was introduced commercially on Apple's updated MacBook Pro lineup on February 24, 2011.
Thunderbolt combines PCI Express and DisplayPort into a serial data interface. A single Thunderbolt port supports hubs as well as a daisy chain of up to seven Thunderbolt devices; up to two of these devices may be high-resolution displays using DisplayPort. You can move data to and from peripherals up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and up to 12 times faster than with FireWire 800.

  • Palm Pre no longer syncing with Google Calendar

I've had my Pre for 4-5 weeks, and when I first got it, I configured the calendar to sync with my Google calendar.  Everything worked fine.  At some point, it stopped syncing.  If I add something to the calendar through Google, I don't see it on my Pre and if I add an event on the Pre, it never shows up on Google.  Obviously I tried the sync now option to no avail.  I'm not sure if this happened around the V1.1.0 update or not.  Is anyone else having issues syncing with Google Calendar?

    Hello Bartman,
You may want to try removing and re-adding the gmail account to the Pre.  If this doesn't work, try creating a test gmail account and add it to the Pre.  This will tell you if it is your email account or the Palm Pre.

  • Deleting event in iCal 5.0.1 not syncing with Google Calendar

When I delete an event from iCal, it does not sync with Google Calendar.  However, when I create an event in iCal, it syncs just fine with Google Calendar. Creating and deleting events from Google Calendar syncs fine with iCal.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

12/13/2011 - call to google tech support
Recent support call with Google: iCal deleting events still broken.  this is big for us.  We have users that have accounts for and/or subscribe to multiple calendars, and took a while to teach them to use iCal, so web based calendars will be foreign to them (even though I like the web based).  There is no timeline in place according to Google Tech Support.  I feel like the issue is really Apple's issue, so Google is waiting on them to fix, this type of urgency(or lack of) is right up their alley.  Oh well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on alternate calendar apps for Mac?  Specifically for google calendars?

  • IPhone will no longer sync with Google calendar

3 days ago my IPhone 4 stopped syncing with Google Calendar. I'm not aware of making any changes. I've done homework & and followed these steps:
-- Synced with ITunes: not syncing with ICloud; not syncing calendar
-- redone the Google Mobile setup procedure for my IPhone
-- limited my IPhone Calendar choices to only Google, i.e nothing checked for "All on my IPhone"
-- Set the time zone to Houston
Nothing doing. There are other folks with this problem, but 1 or more of the above worked for them...
Any ideas? I sure appreciate any help.

After installing iPhone 3.0 and iTunes 8.2 several weeks ago, my Outlook calendar sync stopped working. I have tried every hint or trick I could find to no avail. The iTunes SW never reports errors, and I cannot determine just where the SW problem exists. I have cleared my iPhone contents and performed a restore/reset from iTunes. I re-installed iTunes several times, including the latest version (8.2.1.6) today, but nothing works. I spoke with an Apple Expert with no success; pleasant and empathetic, but with no troubleshooting skills. He suggested a replacement iPhone, which makes little sense to me.
I have a colleague at work whose Outlook calendar sync also stopped working after installing the latest SW. Does anyone have insight in this situation?
