Sync Service Error on iTunes?

This error has been with me ever since iTunes 10.5, when iOS 5 first came out, but even though I've upgraded to iTunes 11, the error still persists. I usually ignore this error, but it's been annoying me, because iTunes keeps trying to get my attention and makes the ding noise when an alert appears. I've looked at the Apple Support Archives - which tell me to upgrade my version of iTunes, however I have the latest version. If it helps, I do have Xcode (and other developer tools if any) installed on my Mac. Does anyone have any suggestions or a possible resolution? Thanks in advance.

I get the error "unable to load data class info from sync services" and eventully itunes freezes.  will this article help me?

    Hello there brigidfromca.
Messages can always be pretty daunting when we're not sure where to start. I was able to locate the following Knowledge Base article that discusses the very message you're getting:
iTunes for Windows: "Unable to load data class" or "Unable to load provider data" sync services alert
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2690
It is a pretty thorough document with multiple steps to review, but looks to be great place to start for a resolution for you.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to reach out to us for answers.

  • Keep getting sync service error when trying to connect my iphone 5S.

Keep getting sync service error when trying to connect my iphone 5S. It freezes itunes and I can't do anything else. I see that there is an update for my phone and I need to back up, upload new apps, etc before installing. I plug my phone in and get this error every time. I am using a Win 7 SP1

    Howdy Susie48825,
It sounds like you are getting an error that mentions the sync services when you connect your phone to your computer and so you cannot sync your device. I would use the troubleshooting from the following article that  mentions an error regardign the sync services named:
iTunes for Windows: "Unable to load data class" or "Unable to load provider data" sync services alert
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2690
    Start with these steps:
    1. Check that iTunes is up-to-date
Ensure that you have updated to the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Reset Sync History
Resetting your Sync History is a simple step which may resolve some syncing issues. If this works, iTunes will prompt to Merge or Replace the information on your device when you next attempt to sync. To reset your Sync History:
    Disconnect your device.
    Open iTunes.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Devices tab.
Click the Reset Sync History button, and then reconnect your device.
If this resolves the issue, and you know all of your contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes are on your computer:
Reset the Sync History again using the steps above.
Select the device in iTunes and click the Info tab.
Scroll down to the Advanced section, and under "Replace information on this iPhone/iPad/iPod touch" select Contacts or Calendars.
    Click Apply.
If the issue persists, and you know all your contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes are on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Remove all of the contact and calendar information from Outlook.
Select the device in iTunes and click the Info tab.
Scroll down to the Advanced section, and under "Replace information on this iPhone/iPad/iPod touch" make sure Contacts and Calendars are not selected.
    Click Apply.
There are additional steps to use in the article if needed, but these will get you started.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • How do you get my XP 64bit to recognize my iphone 4? Get Sync Service error

My work computer is an xp 64bit. Finally after getting itunes loaded, itunes now gives me an error stating "itunes was unable to load data class information from sync services". How do I get this fixed...I really need my Outlook calendar on my phone. Please Help...Thanks in advance!

iTunes does not, never has, and almost certainly never will support the 64-bit version of Windows XP. People have reported partial success getting iTunes "crowbarred" onto XP 64, but synching with an iPhone is one of the most common points of failure. You can search the iTunes for Windows forums for "XP 64" and you may find some hints that would point to a solution, but the only sure (and only supported) solution is to move to Vista or Windows 7 if you want to stay with a 64-bit OS.
    Regards.

  • Sync Services Error Message

Hi there since the latest Itunes update to 10.4.1.10 I am getting an error message: Itunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services.
This is happening with both Ipad2 and Iphone4.
    I am running W7 64bit
    Have followed instructions http://support.applew.com/kb/TS2690
Would uninstalling and re installing Itunes help?
    Thanks Muskey

Well, about sync pb, this page just say "don't mess around with Sync Services in APple HD, which I did'nt.
Apart that, I applied the Terminal procedure from Apple KB page.
    No change so far.

  • I have tried everything! ("service error/reinstall itunes")

Just for reference, I'm getting 2 error messages (Using Windows XP and iPod color). One, when I try to connect my iPod my PC recognizes it but I get this error message when I open iTunes:
The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software.
Then, when I try to install either software update pack for my iPod I get the "iPod Service Error" message.
I have attempted every solution on this page and NOTHING worked. I've also tried some of the suggestions posted on this message board. I'm trying to be patient, but my next-to-new iPod is now almost entirely useless. Oh, and now that I've attempted to install iTunes 5, it won't let me revert to the earlier version of iTunes on the CD that came with my iPod.
Does anyone know if Apple is even planning to provide a fix for this?? I haven't seen so much as an announcement... considering all the errors Windows users have been having, you'd think they'd take down the Windows iTunes download link and fix the problem sharpish.
iTunes / iPod were working perfectly on this computer before I upgraded to iTunes 5. Please help!
    Thanks.

The old adage of "don't try to fix it if it isn't broken" is highly relevant in this area!
I think that's fair in most cases, but I'm of the opinion that something released officially by Apple (and not in Beta) should work. Especially when I paid them $400 for a piece of equipment that is more or less useless without it.
It's just absurd to me that they could release something that has a number of serious problems, and not all of them easily fixable. And, on top of that, not even addressing the problem or giving us any avenue of live support. I don't have the time to go scrolling all the message boards and help topics in search of an answer... it should have worked in the first place. My iPod is less than a month old, and I can't even update it. Unacceptable.
That said, I've definitely learned my lesson with Apple's updates and will certainly follow your recommendation in the future.
Oh, and yeah I tried the clean uninstall too. Got rid of everything AND the kitchen sink. Quicktime too. Reinstalled from iTunes website... no. Clean unstall again. Reinstalled from Quicktime website... still no go. Tried everything on that help article I linked to above. Tried to reinstall older iTunes. Tried to update iPod software. Tried to reinstall older iPod software. Tried starting and stopping all processes/applications that anyone mentioned on the message boards. Made sure my Windows XP had installed all updates.
    I'm about to go mad.

  • Updater "ipod service error" and itunes "reinstall itunes"

I got my ipod exchanged just recently from a regular 20gb iPod to a color/photo ipod. I downloaded the newest iPod updater and the newest iTunes. I go into the updater program and a message comes up saying "iPod Service error". When i plugged in my unit to my computer, iTunes shows a message "the software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod software.
Here's the problem. I went to Apple's online help and went through all the possible solutions it had (reinstall iTunes, Disable conflicting system services and startup items, disable conflicting system services and startup items and reinstall, resintall the COM interface for the iPod service) and none of them worked.
What do i do? because I've spent the whole week trying to figure out what's going on. I've repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled both the updater and iTunes. Anyone have any answer to this?

It might be a total pain, but you might do best if you call Apple Support if you can... Hopefully you didn't get a bad 'Pod.

  • Sync Services errors

My iMac locks up now and then... and when I look at the logs, I find the last items logged were errors involving sync services. Errors like this. Are these routine? Could they lock up MacOS?

  • "iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services" error?

I am getting this error everytime I plug in my iPhone. I've tried solutions from all over the internet but none seem to work. One solution mentions a SyncServices folder in \AppData\Roaming\ but that folder doesn't even exist for me. I'm thinking its a problem with my hard drive set up as I have moved my \Users\ folder off my SSD to save space and put it on my other larger drive. I've tried installing iTunes on both drives and that doesnt work. Anyone have a solution for this?

    FMSupport wrote:
Got it working. For anyone else having this problem: I first unistalled everything that had "Apple Inc." as the manufacturer from Add/Remove Programs. I then deleted all "Apple" and/or "Apple Computer" folders from all three AppData folders (Local, LocalLow, Roaming). Then I deleted all Apple folders from the ProgramData folder on the root of my drive, rebooted and reinstalled iTunes.
Does doing this remove all of the users music?
No, but it will remove certain user preferences and any mobile device backup sets. If the library is a non-standard location it will need to be reselected by shift-starting iTunes to choose the correct library file.

  • Sync Services error while Syncing with Mac & Entourage 2004

    Hello All,
I got an error '.Mac Sync Error' screen while syncing from Entourage 2004, v11.3.3 for Mac. OS X 10.4.10. Some data did sync, but the entries that did not are apparently untraceable. It said, "You can't modify a record that doesn't exist."
I tried wiping the old Addressbook on the Mac side to eliminate any corrupt
data. The first sync with Entourage and subsequent sync gives the same
error. Funny but my iPhone syncs great with Addressbook and doesn't give a
similar error. It may be that this error is on iCal instead. How do I find the error from the number given?
I checked the database in Entourage with Database Utility and no errors were
found. I also backed up the database and compacted it just so I'd have a
    copy.
The database does somehow get duplicate information to Addressbook with
subsequent syncs which end up duplicating entries on both Addressbook and
Entourage. iCal seems reliable but I don't know...
    Henry
    (Also posted in Newsgroup:microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage)

The push descriptor indicates that your machine is trying to push—or, send—data to an Unfiled calendar that does not exist elsewhere. 'Elsewhere' could be in the truth database on that machine, at .Mac or on another synchronized machine.
It's clearly not on your local machine in iCal anymore. If you reset the truth database by using the Reset Sync History… option in iCal, it should no longer be present on .Mac, if you subsequently synchronized. If you opted instead to Reset Sync Data and pushed records from .Mac to your machine, it is likely that it once again resides in your copy of iCal. If you opted to Reset Sync Data and pushed records from .Mac to your machine, it will not be present in iCal.
The most reasonable explanation, given what you have described and the error dialog you printed, is that this Unfiled Calendar exists on another synchronized Macintosh. If that is the case, you must also delete it from the copy of iCal on that machine.
If you don't have another synchronized machine in your pool, I can give you a terminal command that will completely obliterate your truth database and require that you start all over again, reregistering all of your clients—including Entourage—and starting all over.
You should, by the way, disable Entourage synchronization to isolate it and temporarily simplify your synchronization pool, until you have resolved this issue. Do not simply delete the Entourage calendar from iCal, for that will result in the deletion of matching records in Entourage itself during the next synchronization event.

  • Just updated to IOS 7 and two issues:  First when I connect my iPhone to my computer I get this error message:itunes was unable to provider data from sync services".

Just updated to IOS 7 and two issues:
First when I connect my iPhone to my computer I get this error message:itunes was unable to provider data from sync services".  I'm not sure what this really means...
The second issue is when I try to select "Manually Manage Music"
The iPhone "My iPhone" is synced with another iTunes libary on "MY-PC".  Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?  An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time.  Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
So... I don't want to do that, but I do what to be able to Manage my music.  I'm not sure what it means by being synced to another iTunes unless it means to an older version of itunes?
    Anyone have any ideas?

I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. See if this support document helps you out. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535

  • How do I fix this error message. Itunes was unable to load provider data from sync services. Reconnect and try again later.s

Why do I keep getting this error msg everytime my phone tries to sync to my pc,after I click ok it syncs as it should. If I don't click ok nothing happens.
This is driving me mad, apple support couldn't fix the problem after resetting sync history, totally un installing itunes.re-downloading itunes and installing again, same thing happens!. I am the administrator.
Also my Toshiba laptop randomly freezes, only when my phone is plugged directly into the USB port, I then have to do a hard reset to get it working again.
    Any ideas,
    Please HELP!!!!!!

I fixed this annoying problem once and for all. Copied all files & everything else onto an external hard drive, opened a new administrator account, deleted the problem administrator user account.Copied everything across into the new account.
Re installed itunes in the newly created administration account. Problem solved!!!!
After copying and pasting files, renaming files and reading endless pages in forums and nothing worked but this!!!!!!!
Unfortunatelety I had already lost all my contacts, text msg and photos before, because I thought my phone was syncing to iTunes but wasn't because of this "sync services error" I've been getting for months.

  • ITunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services-Solution

Hello all. I recently upgraded to iTunes 9.1.1.12 on a laptop with Windows XP Pro and the latest iPhone OS (as of May 16,2010). Right after that, I started getting the "iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services" error message. After I dismissed that window, it would go ahead and indicate that it was synching for a minute or two, and then indicate (in iTunes) that it was backing up the iPhone. This will run forever unless cancelled and the phone would not synch.
After reading various solutions that worked for others (install Mobile Me, reinstall itunes, run diagnostics, all with numerous reboots in between), this is what worked for me:
    1) Open up Windows Services, and stop the Apple Mobile Device and iPod Service, and mark them as manual (as opposed to Automatic).
    2) Deinstall iTunes
    3) Delete the c:\program files\common files\apple folder (and all sub folders within). This is where the services are stored, and when I did all of these steps without doing this step, it didn't fix my problem. By deleting this folder, you insure that the iTunes install reinstalls these. You should see the services that were stopped in step 1, running again after the install is done. Note: I don't use Safari or QuickTime on my laptop, so I can't say whether or not this step would have any impact on those apps.
    4) Reinstall iTunes.
    5) Connect the iphone to your computer.
    6) At this point, I still got the dataclass error, so I immediately cancelled the synch.
    7) Run the diagnostics for the iphone (connectivity and synch).
    8) At this point, two DOS windows launched, and I did get another error about being able connect to the synch server.
    9) Closed the error message and disconnected the iphone (the phone at this point did not indicate that a synch was occurring).
    10) Reconnected the iphone and, voila, it's been working fine ever since.
Hope this helps someone else out until Apple deals with the 9.1.1.12 (and .11) issues with synching.

Either do Windows Control Panel → Administrative Tools and then picking "Services" or typing "Services.msc" in the Run command on Start menu.

  • ITunes 10.5.3, Unable to Load Class Data from Sync Services, Crashes Repeatedly

Ever since iTunes 10.5.3 on my Windows 7 x64 box, I've been having serious problems keeping iTunes running:
    1)  Any time I connect my iPhone or iPad, or any time they attempt to sync over WiFi, I get the 'Unable to load class data from sync services' error.  It's worth mention that the iPhone or iPad do actually then proceed to sync correctly, and all media / data is synchronized successfully, as far as I've been able to tell.  I've reset sync history, restored the iPhone and iPad, manually moved the SyncServices directory, set both the iPhone and iPad up as new, completely uninstalled iTunes and the mobile device software, re-installed, and *nothing* I do fixes this issue or even seems to impact it.  Uninstalling iTunes 10.5.3 and reinstalling iTunes 10.5.2 resolves this error.
    2)  iTunes 10.5.3 has serious crashing problems on my machine, though I've searched through forums and found a lot of other people with the problem.  In my case, sporadically as iTunes access the iTunes store (for example, I can always make it happen by subscribing to the Diggnation podcast and telling it to refresh the podcast), I get a full application crash which generates the following event in the event log:
Faulting application name: iTunes.exe, version: 10.5.3.3, time stamp: 0x4f14cc3d
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17651, time stamp: 0x4e211319
    Exception code: 0x80000003
    Fault offset: 0x0001280c
    Faulting process id: 0x564
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cce78789dc009a
Faulting application path: D:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\KERNELBASE.dll
    Report Id: ecc77400-537a-11e1-b809-00248c196007
Again, uninstalling iTunes 10.5.3 and re-installing iTunes 10.5.2 fixes this issue as well, but I really shouldn't have to do that.  Is there any actual solution to these problems other than dowgrading to an older version?
Yes, I'm running current malware protection (and my system is clean) and yes, I've already checked any other obvious culprits to make sure I don't just have a corrupt library or file somewhere that's causing it.  My Windows 7 install is completely up to date from a Windows Update perspective and also from a driver perspective (even including the motherboard and chipset drivers).  I made sure to do a system file integrity check (sfc /scannow) and it confirmed my install of Windows isn't suspect, but beyond all that I was able to reproduce these failures on a completely separate machine running Windows 7 x64, without any of my media library or data on it -- iTunes 10.5.3 just seems to be bad news on Windows 7 x64 for me, even though I know there are definitely people are using it successfully.  I don't get any other application crashes for any other applications, and I've never had an issue like this with any previous version of iTunes...
Last but not least, in case it matters, I'm running iOS 5.0.1 on both the iPhone4 and the iPad2.  The iPhone4 is the GSM AT&T model and the iPad2 is the CDMA Verizon model.

OK, I've given up.  Uninstalled iTunes 10.5.3 permanently.  It's a shame, 10.5.2 works perfectly but 10.5.3 is a complete and total cluster for me.
Anyone with the same problems who hasn't done this already, just uninstall iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Service in your Add/Remove Programs, then re-install iTunes 10.5.2.  You won't lose your library or any settings or apps, it will just go back to working again.
I wish Apple would acknowledge this so that I'd at least know it would be fixed in the future.
