Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing

Apple has posted a new technical note outlining procedures for dealing with contact and event synchronization anomalies when the following conditions apply, and a reset has not resolved the issues:
• your issue does not involve MobileMe
• you have already reset MobileMe
• you've already performed the Reset Sync History procedure
Recommendations are categorized by their relationship to calendar data and contacts, and links to each procedure can be found in the technical note.

These errors seem to be due to syncing via iCloud and iTunes Apple advises to use one or the other, see reference link: If you see duplicate contacts after setting up iCloud Contacts - Apple Support.
Before correcting these duplication errors I highly recommend backing up your info. see reference link:
Archive or make copies of your iCloud data - Apple Support  to backup your info.  Make sure to backup iCal, Address Book, Mail, etc. before and after de-duplicating.

  • Alternative "Cloud" for Contacts and Calendar Sync

After trying and giving up on Mobileme i am looking for an alternative to sync my OUTLOOK calendar and contacts between Home PC (Outlook 2003) Work PC (Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007) and my Iphone, I really dont care how its done but i just want real time sync if possible (Paid or Free).
Thank you in advance for any help.

    Mark,
If you have an Exchange Server you should use Active Sync, this gives you real time calendar, contacts and mail sync to your works mail server. You can then configure you home PC to connect to Exchange using Outlook Over Internet (OOI) access, this way everything syncs up to Exchange.
A common mis-understanding is that people assume your home PC has to be part of your work Domain for OOI to work, this is not true as long as you import the security certificate from the server.

  • Does iTunes 11.1 now sync with Outlook 2013 for Contacts and Calendar?

Previously I could sync and iPhone 4/4S with Outlook 2010 Contacts and Calendar but it stopped working when I moved to Outlook 2013.
Does anyone know if this has now been fixed with iTunes 11.1?
    Thanks.

  • Does Office365 EWS provides Push Notification service for Contacts and Calendar Events?

Even though there are REST API's for performing PUSH and PULL operations for Office365(online), I am still looking the old EWS approach where in I want to subscribe for PUSH notification service for Contacts, Calendars and Mail Boxes.
Can any one suggest if there is a way to achieve this.

I posted an answer in your Stack Overflow post.

  • How do I use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?

We are attempting to use SharePoint 2010 in combination with Exchange 2010 to implement shared calendars and contact lists throughout our organization.  We are able to connect the lists to Outlook 2010, but have been unsuccessful in viewing
the calendars and contact lists from our mobile phones.  How do we use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?
In trying to answer this question, we have come across a few different possibilities, all of them falling just short of a long term solution for us.  After doing research, we found that Active Sync will only show the default folders of the account.  To
solve this, we downloaded an Add-In for Outlook (CodeTwo FolderSync) to synchronize folders and synchronized our SharePoint list with a new Contact list in the default folder.  The issue we came across with this method is that the Add-In we are using
is not capable of automatic synchronization.  There is a button and it must be clicked after every update is made, which is not ideal for our solution.  We then went to the company (CodeTwo) and found server side software (Exchange Sync) that they
offer which will automatically synchronize the folders.  After installing that on the Exchange Server, we now are running into the issue of not being able to locate the SharePoint lists on the Exchange Server.
Does anyone happen to know how we can get to the SharePoint lists from the Exchange Server?  Has anyone else been able to use shared contacts lists and calendars from SharePoint on their mobile phones using Active Sync?  If so, are we in the right
direction with what we have found so far?
    Thanks,
    Brad

You cannot use ActiveSync for that, but there are SharePoint clients for the iPhone. Windows Mobile 7 natively supports SharePoint with SharePoint Workspace Mobile, part of Microsoft Office Mobile. Android and BlackBerry might also have some apps.

  • HT1692 Have recently installed itunes and outlook on a new computer.  Have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, Help!

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit
My phone is a 4S runing iOS 6.1.3
Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer.  Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro.  I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty.  Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup
    Can anyone help please?
    thanks in anticipation

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

  • Contacts and calendar syncing independent of iCloud Drive?

I assume contacts and calendar syncing is independent of the use of iCloud Drive?
In other words: on iOS7 and older, you cannot use iCloud Drive  but you can sync contacts and calender with iOS8 devices (and Yosemite). Correct?

    Hey lexvo;
That is correct. For more information on iCloud Drive and iCloud Contacts, check out the following resources:

  • Why arent my contacts and calendar syncing

i just got a new macbook, i turn on icloud on all my devices but other then pictures, nothing is syncing onto the macbook.... what am i doing wrong, or not doing?

Are you using iCloud? If so, did you somehow log into www.icloud.com and accidently delete Contacts and/or Calendar entries? Or did you uncheck iCloud as a source for Contacts and Calendars in those applications? Maybe only 'On My Mac' is selected in those apps and that is empty for Contacts and Calendars.

  • Contact and Calendar sync problems on iPhone and iPad

Here is the deal. I have an iPhone and iPad. Everytime I sync one, then the other I get the message that the iPhone or iPad is sync'd with a different user. I am the only one on this PC and only one account. And the Contacts and Calendar are unchecked for sync every time. I have to manually check them. It is like my iPad and iPhone do not like to be sync'd to the same Apple account. I want information for contacts and calendar to be the same on both. Advice????

Synced with a different user, or with a different iTunes library?
You are syncing contacts and calendar events with which supported address book and calendar app on your computer?
The iTunes account has nothing to do with syncing contacts and calendar events with a supported address book and calendar app on your computer, but it does have something to do with syncing iTunes content.

  • Looking for reliable sync for contacts and calendar

Does anyone know of a reliable app that will sync contacts and calendars between my droid and my pc?  I use outlook (not exchange).  I have no problems syncing gmail and webmail.  I tried Missing Sync but it won't bring contacts from my phone to my pc and it really doesn't sync.  It creates duplicates on my phone while bringing nothing to my pc.
The operative word here is reliable.

Hi.  I have my Microsoft Outlook synced to my google calendar which syncs to my iCal on my MacBook which then syncs to my Droid!  LOL, a lot of different calendars but I use my PC for some things and my Mac for other things but I want them all to work together and it does with the google calendar. You can go to google, read the calendar section and it's pretty easy to set up.  I have bells and whistles going off for birthdays and appointments but I never miss an event.
    Good luck!

  • Using Exchange and Sync for Contacts and Calendars etc.

I recently bought and iPhone 3Gs and I sync it through my microsoft exchange service. Then when I connected it to itunes I accidently synced the same contacts and calendar through it. It basically created a seperate contact list and calendar on the iphone. So my question is:
How do I delete the contacts and calendars on my iphone but not have it delete the contacts on my computer without resetting the iphone and loosing all my other files, music, pics, and data? I only want my exchange contacts and calendar on my iphone.
    Thanks,

When you add an Exchange account and turn Calendar/Contact syncing, you are given the option of keeping the data currently on the phone, or deleting it. So, if you delete the Exchange account and re-add it, you should be able to choose the option to delete the content currently on the iPhone, leaving only the Exchange information.

  • TS2776 Any ideas why my Outlook 2010 is syncing with iCloud for e-mail but not for contacts and calendars?  I am not a novice user and have done all the obvious things. The situation is odd because the original calendars all came from Outlook in the first

I use iMac, iPad and iPhone but also an HP laptop. I have used Macs since 1986 so I am not a novice. I set up my iCloud account, moving from MobileMe recently and everything works fine on my Apple devices. The bizarre thing is I can see all my e-mail accounts via iCloud in Outlook but the contacts and calendars are not syncing in Outlook even though the original calendar material came from Outlook (the contacts data is all from the iMac). I've tried all the obvious things and read most of the articles on the Apple Support website. All the relevant boxes are checked on the iCloud dashboard on each device but I just wondered if I was missing something obvious. I'm sure some of you will have had the same expereince and solved it. Can you help me?
    Thanks in anticipation!

  • How to do one way synch from PC to phone ONLY for contacts and Calendar

Does anyone know how you can synch only ONE WAY - from Outlook on PC to Iphone? I want no information to change in Outlook Calendar or Contacts. I don't want the phone to make any changes to Contacts or Calendar on PC. Thanks!

You've posted this in the *Mac OS X Technologies > iSync* forum.
iSync is a Mac-only application for syncing Contacts and Calendars from the Mac Address Book and iCal to mobile phones and PDAs.
It has nothing to do with the iPhone, Outlook or Windows PCs.

  • Sync data between third-party contacts and calendar apps, and the native apps, in 10.9.3+?

I've had to refrain from updating my Mac Pro from 10.8.5 to 10.9 owing to the removal of SyncServices.  I then read that SyncServices was re-introduced on a limited basis in 10.9.3.
It seems unlikely, but I'd like to know whether or not SyncServices in 10.9.3 re-enables the syncing of data between third-party contacts & calendar apps and the native apps, and thereby enables syncing of contacts and calendar info between third-party apps and iOS devices over USB via iTunes.  This is the method I use exclusively by choice in 10.8.5, and I will not change it to a cloud-based solution under any circumstances.
If it is not possible, is there a third-party workaround?  My calendar app on the Mac Pro at the moment is BusyCal, syncing with Week Cal on the iPhone, but I'll happily buy a new combo of apps if it means I can upgrade to Mavericks and retain USB syncing.
EDIT: a solution which permits syncing of a third-party calendar app on the Mac Pro with a third-party calendar app on the iPhone over an ad-hoc wireless network would also be acceptable, I suppose.

Well, that's pretty disappointing.  I guess Apple believes Internet is free and everywhere.
