Sync session not starting

Trying to sync iPhone 4 to iTunes as I do most days - today I keep getting a message saying 'the sync session failed to start' - can't find a reason why or how to fix it

Wifi or USB?
Most likely an issue with the latest backup

Once that is done re-sync again

  • Why my iTunes  said my sync session cannot start?

I started the itunes to back up the phone and suddenly it said my sync session could not start? What is that mean? How to fix it?

    Hey Baby Boop,
I found an article that addresses that same error message and goes over steps to resolve the issue. First, I would try simply restarting the computer and the iOS device, and that may resolve the backup issue. After restarting, attempt to restore again.
If that doesn't work, then go through all of the steps in the article. You need to be logged in to the computer as an administrator to complete the steps. If you're not sure if you have administrator access, contact the owner of the computer or the system administrator (if it is your personal computer, you should).

  • Sync session not working

When I try to sync my phone and computer it says that the "sync session has failed to start" How can I fix this??

I have exactly the same settings in Options (in both computers)
for history, these 2 add-ons and all other stuff in Options. The only difference is that on 1 pc sessions can be saved and closed tabs can be reopened, on other main pc they stopped to work. + no any other add-on that does similar things works on this pc.
It is also interesting that I can reopen closed visited sites from History Panel, but not by pressing the Button. For now I only manually bookmark links to a temporary folder.
Recently (some 2 month ago) I pressed x and Firefox closed all tabs without saving them without displaying save & quit pop up.
    so I changed 4 settings in about.config
    browser.tabs.warn on close true
    browser.warn on quit true
    browser.warn on restart true
    browser.show.quit warning true
but the problem with sessions appeared only 1 week ago.
So I guess the problem is not with the History settings or other settings. Seems that something responsible for button or for storing info about tabs/sessions got corrupted. :(

  • Ipad2 will not sync--sync will not start

I asked to erase and sync with my office workstation and it will not sync
    "Sync session failed to start"
What do I need to do?

Quit Tunes, restart your PC, and restart the iPad and try again. That is the easiest thing to try first. Sometimes it works so it is worth a shot.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

I have a problem where I can not sysnc , I get a comment that the sync is not able to start as a session can not be made. The Iphone is clearly shown but I have reloaded every bit of software. Why is it so difficult to get help from Itunes.

    Hi Shelady,
Try downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes from the first link below. If that doesn't do it, the suggestions in the second article should resolve the installation issue.

  • IPhone sync with Outlook fails with sync server not starting

    Hi, Community -
Up until a few days ago my iPhone synced beautifully with Outlook 2010 under Windows 7 on Parallels (running on Yosemite, MBP late 2014).
I don't know what changed but I cannot sync the two anymore. I keep getting error messages. Either a Windows error message saying that Mingler.exe stopped working or an iTunes message saying that the iPhone could not sync because the sync server did not start.
    I have tried the following:
    Reset the sync history
Uninstalled and re-installed iTunes (several times)
Tried to restore to older backup versions (I keep backups of the iPhone backup files)
    Synced with other iTunes installations
Restored the iPhone to a state about two weeks old (when syncing still worked)
    All to no avail.
The Mingler.exe crash report under Windows gave these details:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
      Application Name:    Mingler.exe

(Yes, I know ... I should not expect support on Windows issues here ... but by now I am pretty sure it is an iTunes issue.)
Could anyone please help? I really need my calendar and contacts updated on my phone!
Thanks for any help you can offer.

OK ... I am not going to go into the depths of how a company that makes such nice hardware cannot get its act together to write decent software, too. I'll also spare you my anger on why I need to sync my iPhone on a Mac throgh Windows in order to connect to the most widely used office suite worldwide. I guess I am just disappointed at the inferiority of Apple's software and simply cannot bear the ravings of clueless artsy users who believe they know something about computing because they are proficient Photoshop users. Phew. Sorry, venting ends here and now.
In the meantime I managed to solve the above problem myself. I hope my description is helpful to other users encountering similar issues (and Google tells me there are many).
My solution is based on the rationale that after all steps described in the initial post the problem must lie with iTunes. And it did.
Here is what I did to fix the issue on my Mac running Windows 7 on Parallels:
Uninstall iTunes and, importantly, also all other Apple software (Bonjour, Apple Mobile Device Support etc.) from Windows using the Control Pannel utility 'Programs and Features'. The interesting thing is that uninstalling all Apple software will not remove all directories involved in mobile sync! I conjecture this is the source of the observed sync issues.
Remove all software registry entries with Apple Inc. and Apple Computer Inc. as author
    I deleted entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE.
Manually remove the directory C:\Users\__UserName__\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\SyncServices\Local
This will result in the loss of all iPhone backup information you have collected in the past. The manual removal of this directory is crucial because it does not get removed automatically in the uninstall process.
Restart Mac OS and Windows (just to be safe)
Reinstall the latest version of iTunes
Reboot your iPhone (just to be safe)
Connect the iPhone and sync it by overwriting calendar and contacts on the iPhone from the Mac (choose the appropriate sync options in iTunes)
These steps worked perfectly for me and I am now able to sync my iPhone with my calendar and contacts from Outlook 2010 again.
Do let me know if this was any help with your sync issues.

  • Sync session not established

I have been trying for days to sync my iphone 3 to outlook 2007. When I connect the cable I get an error message stating that sync session could not be established. When I cross the boxes for calendar etc in the info, it does not remain crossed when I click on "apply". I have also tried mobileme as an alternative and whilst this does sync contacts it does not sync calendars and notes. My local apple store couldn't find a solution. Any one have any ideas PLEASE?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Shaun

Yes, my phone says the same thing. i don't know what version phone I have, I am guessing its a 3.1. I got it in 2008, 1st version I think. But it seems like my outlook is syncing but the error message, how do I get rid of that?

  • UPS Sync will not start (tries then fails)

Trying to setup UPS in my 2013 Enterprise QA environment, and the Sync process wont start.
I successfully configured this in Production, so I am not sure why its not working in QA.  I am pretty familiar with the process of setting up the SA.  AD permissions, local admin, no PowerShell Profile set.... Using the Harbar guide to creating

  • I can't sync my 2nd generation iPad with my Mac. It says that the sync could not start

I tried syncing my iPad with my Mac and once it starts to sync a message pops up saying that my iPad couldn't be synced because the sync session failed to start.
    Help!

I can't thinl what may be causing this, are you attempting to set up your Email through Settings? That would be the way to go if you aren't.
If they didn't work, or you are already trying to do so, then download the "Yahoo Mail" App from the App Store and use that, I know it's annoying but thats what you may have to do.
Hope I was of assistance :-)

  • Active Sync does not start as domain user with no Administrator rights.

    Hi all,
Searched the forums and the net but can't find anything about this.
    Situation:
In a domain where users only have standard users rights I installed on a PC as a domain admin Active Sync 4.5
When I logon as a user the Active Sync software can not be started.
I disabled the firewall and even set full rights permission on the Active Sync directory both didn't help out.
When I m logged on as this user I can choose to Start the program as a different user.
This only works when I Start it with the domain administrator account.
I hope that I do not have to give that information to this user to make this software work.....
Anyone had the same problems? Anyone a idea?
    Thx in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Aartjan

    try this:
    1. make sure you install "activesync" from local harddisk (not from network), and do not delete the setup file after
    installation
    2. local in as "local administrator" and connect your PDA and make sure it can sync, I did not create a profile and just leave PDA connect as "guest" for now
    3. log off and re-login as "domain user", connect with USB should work
    4. if they still cannot communicate, run "ActiveSync" from start menu
    it works for me

  • WiFi sync will not start automatically when plugging in charger

SInce upgrading  my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to IOS6 and downloading the latest version of iTunes, plugging the charger into the devices no longer triggers the WiFi sync. I can initiate the Wifi sync manually from either the device or iTunes.
Is this related to all of the messages out there with users having Wifi greyed out?

I am having the same problem. It only works once in a while. I had to turn on Airplane Mode and sync using the cable. I found that workaround in this thread:

  • Dbus session not starting up [solved]

    hi there!
installed a clean arch system with gnome....
then I use "exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session /opt/gnome/bin/gnome-session" in my .xinitrc but dbus doesn't work
I mean, it DOES start up, but it doesn't create any entry in the /tmp directory, causing applications to fail with the error "Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-c2TVYkyXKU: Connection refused"
I've tryed with both the user and the root, starting dbus at hand, but in NEVER creates an entry in the /tmp directory
    any hint?

solved it by rebooting (ohhhh dear... windows way ) thank you
