Sync settings for iphone and itunes

Question

I am trying to sync my iphone and everytime I do my playlists drop songs.  I would prefer the device to push from the iphone and not vice versa.  How do I set this?

YOUwould think that setting up playlists in iTunes that even if you then delete a playlist or a song on the iPhone, the original playlist should stay there! WRONG! This is the 2nd time I went to play a song on my iPhone and suddenly the iPhone told me "No Content". The song's data had disappeared, but the playlist was still there. here is the first thing I discovered. DO NOT DELETE THE playlist if you want it to still exist in iTunes. As soon as you delete the playlist, the next sync with iTunes will DELETE THE PLAYLIST in iTunes. The songs seem to stay in iTunes, but the playlists disappear along with the songs assigned to them. Weirdly if you list your songs on the iPhone by Song, rather than playlist, they all still show up! If you try to play one, the iPhone starts going down the alphabetical list trying to find a song to play since the one you previously found out was gone, is still gone and can't play. Once the iPhone finds a song to play it will stop running down the list. If you stop the song that is playing and look at the list by song again, you will see all the songs in front of the one being played that are missing have a red circle with a red square next to them. If you try to delete any song with a red circle/square iTunes will crash. Relaunching iTunes  all the songs that had the red circle/square are gone and the last song in the play by song list is the one that the iPhone was able to play last. When this happened I lost 97% of the songs on my iPhone. I deleted the playlists just to clean up the iPhone and the next sync - all of the playlists I had deleted were gone in Itunes. The songs were still in iTunes, but the playlists were gone! I suspect the code is designed for listing by song since this is the "first" or "default" lising in iTunes. The other organizations of songs - playlists, artists, etc are added. If songs are disappearing FROM iTUNES as well as playlists, then Apple has a serious problem. I have seen similar complaints for 5 years! Come On APPLE FIX IT already!
