Sync settings, what does each option do?

When presented with this, what does each option do?
Does 'Sync Local' push my local settings to the cloud, or sync the settings from the cloud to the local machine? Seems like this could be made more apparent... Any time I setup a new machine and get this sort of prompt on first launch I normally hit 'Sync Cloud' thinking it'll then download my settings and apply them, but that never happens - I always have to manually setup the settings again.

Do the DW online docs help?

  • Nokia E72: IMAP Sync settings - What does 'After N...

    hello,
Could someone tell me the difference between 'Manual' & 'After Notification' settings under When to Sync option for IMAP email set up ?
    Thanks
    venks

No one knows; Nokia never documented what it does.  It is in several phones and not documented in any of them.  I was thinking it was for IMAP Idle, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The phone eventually drops the data connection, thus it never gets notified of new mail like IMAP Idle is suppose to work.  Nokia supports swears the E72 supports IMAP Idle, but they don't say how to enable it.  All they do is say contact your mail provider and check the account settings.  They have been told time and time again, IMAP Idle works with other mail applications on the same phone.  The support staff if just reading the phone specs and thinks just because it is listed, it is fully supported and works.

  • Preferences in Leopard, What does each one represent?

just upgraded computers and operating system... tiger to leopard
i notice that that in leopard in root prefs you have com.applelogic.pro .cs and com.apple.logic.pro.plist
and in user pref you have com.apple.reglogicstudio.plist
what does each one represent? which one holds key commands? if i were to trash them all what would happen?
    thanks

the .cs contains Control Surfaces settings. Not much will happen if you don't have a control surface and trash that file. The com.apple.logic.pro.plist file contains all settings you can make in the Preferences in Logic, plus the *Key Commands*.
I am not sure about the com.apple.reglogicstudio.plist though; I believe it is there when you haven't registered yet, as I don't see that pref in my User/Lib/Preferences folder; so I don't know what happens if you trash it.
    regards, Erik.

  • In Firefox Sync, Firefox Home - what does the option "Use Safari" in the app settings actually do?

In the global settings page on the iPad, (this is where users can configure settings for each app.) there is an option for Firefox Home to "Use Safari". What does this setting actually do, or not do?

  • PC Suite - Sync - Settings Dialog Does not Appear

Installed PC Suite. Selected Synchronise and the Synchronise dialog appears. The Settings dialog does not automatically appear as stated in Help. Pressing the "Settings" button does not cause the Settings dialog to appear. Pressing the Synchronise button also does nothing.
Have tried to uninstall and re-install PC Suite, have tried 6.7 and the latest 6.8 on the the website.
The very first time I tried this, the settings dialog did appear, when I started clicking through the settings to choose what I wanted, the dialog froze and eventually the application had to be killed using Task Manager.
    Version info:
    Windows XP Pro Ver 2002
    Service Pack 2
PC Suite Version - 6.7 (also tried 6.8)
    Connection method - Bluetooth

    Hi there,
I have exactly the same problem - i have installed - un-installed - re-installed and used the nokia registry cleaner tool - still with same problems ovccuring. The strange thing is, i have used this device (Nokia 6230i) on my pc before. (Fijitsu Siemens Laptop).
I have tried to get working using cable and bluetooth device - they all function as they should every other way -but will not allow me to click the settings button and sync - the button is enabled, but just does no action when clicked.
I have done as you requested miksu - and it succesfully connects - what now?
    I have:

  • What does the option 'Settings- incorrect waiting time for status' do ?

    Hi All
We had an infopackage that seemed to be hanging this morning . (Yellow Status) I was advised to access the option 'Settings->incorrect waiting time for status' and set the wait time to 7 minutes (from 7 hours). This changed the status to Red.
I then re-ran the ipak and reset the ''Settings->incorrect waiting time for status'  to 7 hours. This made the red process go back to yellow and the run time started going up again.
Can someone explain what is going on. Have I got 2 instances of the same ipak running simulateously. Why did the red one come back to life even thoug I deleted the request in data target for that ipak.
    Thanx

  • What does "each JMS server needs to have its own unique store" mean?

Does this mean that each JMS server needs it's own table? I found this info here:
              http://forums.bea.com/bea/message.jspa?messageID=200022411&tstart=0
I'm attempting to find the root cause of why we're crashing the OS on a highly clustered (14 managed server) implementation whenever a JMS queue (through BEA's JMS JDBC Store) is being hit.
              Thanks!

JDBC stores must be configured to use different database tables (by configuring a different "prefix" for each). Otherwise, they will corrupt each-others data. But I've never heard of this causing an O/S crash. Perhaps you are using native code JDBC drivers that have problems. You might want to try switching drivers, or even simply try switching from JDBC stores to file stores (temporarily) to see if that fixes the problem. You might want to check if you're using a supported JVM, etc. I'm curious about what versions of O/S, driver, JVM, and WebLogic are you using.

  • What does the "option" input of the FIR Windowed Coefficients VI do?

    Here's the LV Help entry:
option specifies whether to scale the FIR Windowed Coefficients. The default is 0.
0 not scaled—Does not scale the FIR Windowed Coefficients.
1 scaled—Scales the FIR Windowed Coefficients.
Well that's....unhelpful. Scales them by what? Why?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sorry, you are correct. I was looking at the data for FIR Filter.vi.
For this one, if you double click the VI icon (this tip works for most VIs with white backgrounds) you can bring up the block diagram for that VI. In this, you can see that when the value is "not scaled" the VI produces coefficients based on the "FIR Windowed (uniform) Filter coeficient.vi" which then passed them to the "symmetric filter.vi".
When the filter is “scaled”, then the program goes through a different process depending on the type of filter. When it is a low pass filter, the end coefficients are scaled by the sum (Coef/Sum). In the high pass filter, it weights the coefficients based on a ramp function and then sends them through an exponential so that looks like:
    coef / abs (sum (exp(ramp*-i*pi*0.5)*coef)).
In short, the coefficients are scaled by themselves and/or the cutoff frequencies (in the case of the bandpass filter)
    Hope this helps,

  • What does the option "can be changed in query navigation"?

    Hi all,
I have created several variables so far, but I never activated this option. I have always ignored that option and everything works fine.
But now I tried to rebuild some variables from other developers and saw this option activated. So before I just copy them, I need to know, what "can be changed in query navigation" really does. I already have read the SAP Help documents but still don't have a clue about the functionality. Thank you for answering!
    Best regards
    T. Duong

If you choose the Can Be Changed with Query Navigation option, after you have run the query, not only are you able to select the values that you specified in the variables screen, but you are also able to use other values as dynamic filters for the query .
This function is not possible if you are using the variable as part of a structure in the query definition. The system ignores the setting Can Be Changed with Query Navigation in this case.
    Hope it helps.

  • Mooing and heat fixes: what does each method do?

My black MacBook used to have both the whine & mooing + it was hot. (I started with a black MacBook with idle CoreDuoTemp of 66~69C.)
So I searched and searched and tried a LOT of things posted on this forum.
Now I actually understand WHAT these tricks do, so I thought I'd share my experiences AND ASK, "DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY BETTER/OTHER METHODS?"
    1. Unplug the battery trick
Others have found that unplugging the battery causes the CPU to operate at 1Ghz, lowering the temp. However, the CPU will be stuck at 1Ghz even when you load it.
I finally found out what this does by using Apple's free developer tool Reggie SE. (Don't fool around with Reggie SE since it can kill your computer) For some reason I cannot understand, unplugging the battery trips the "Thermal trip indicator."
The exact words from Reggie SE when the battery is unpluged:
"Thermal trip indicator event is active. This indicates that the processor is above the recommended operating temperature. This bit is read-only and cleared once the temperature drops below recommended operating temperature".
Effectively, the CPU thinks that the temperature is unstable and automatically fixes your freq to 1Ghz.
So this fix is definitely a result of a bug from Apple. My best guess is that they didn't write the parameters inside the ACPI drivers to handle such an event since they don't expect users to run their MacBook minus the battery.
    2. Delete the IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext trick
According to apple documentation, "The MacBook uses an advanced system management controller (SMC) to manage thermal and power conditions, while keeping the acoustic noise to a minimum. The SMC is fully independent of the operating system."
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/HardwareDrivers/Conceptual/MacBook0605/Articles/MacM42DeveloperNote.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP40004263
So why does trashing a file (last time I checked, file-on-harddrive=software) change things? Because the CPU throttling is controlled by OSX.
Inside IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext, there is a section describing CPU throttling. It's a bunch of characters that I can't decipher, but what IS interesting is that it is the exact same setting for the Macbook, Macbook Pro, and the updated Macbook Pro.
When this file is trashed, some users (including myself) will notice that the "mooing" disappears. What actually happens is the CPU throttling is disabled, causing the CPU frequency to be fixed at 1.667Ghz. Normally, the CPU will throttle between 1.5Ghz and 2Ghz. The operating temperature INCREASES and the mooing disappears since mooing only occurs over a very narrow temperature range. This also gets rid of the CPU "whine," for reasons related to CPU throttling that I don't understand.
With this "fix," my CoreDuoTemp went from 66~69C to 71~73C. If you have a 1.83Ghz macbook, the numbers are probably different.
Anyway, we can probably agree that we'd rather get rid of the mooing by LOWERING the temperature rather than INCREASING it.
    3. Removing the plastic piece covering the vent-fix
If there is a plastic cover on your vent, the solution is simple! But I think this is a minority event.
    4. Reapplying thermal paste
I have not personally tried this method, although I agree that it should work. But it'll only work if Apple screwed up when they manufactured the MacBook, i.e. used inferior paste.
    5. Re-seating the heat sink
This works the same way as #4 - by properly distributing the thermal paste and making a good thermal contact at the CPU/Heat sink interface.
    http://discussions.apple.com/profile.jspa?userID=396441
Joe said that his seat sink was a bit "loose," and that he tightened the screws. Well I checked mine and the screws were fine.
    So here's what I did:
    1. Very slightly loosen the 4 screws holding the heatpipe in place (1 rotation)
    2. VERY gently push down on the heat sink and wiggle it around in an effort to evenly spread out the thermal paste
    3. tighten the screws.
That lowered my idle temp from 66~69C to 59~63C. Since my particular MacBook mooed at 66-69C, the mooing is now GONE! And now I have a cooler laptop!
    6. Use less mem-persistance programs.
I noticed that running apps like little snitch and sizzling keys (or any kind of app that runs in the background) increases the temperature by a degree or two. This really isn't a fix though, since that's like saying "don't use your computer if you want to keep it cool."
    7. Disable a core (use as single processor)
Well this isn't a very attractive options since I paid all that money to get a dual-core laptop!
What's worse, disabling a core doesn't decrease my temperature at all, even though I thought it should work. If anyone has evidence contrary it'll be interesting.
Well, does anyone have other ways to lower their MacBook temperature and/or get rid of mooing?

    http://cnscenter.future.co.kr/resource/rsc-center/presentation/intel/spring2001/ epis102.pdf
This is the pdf from Intel Developers Forum, that descript what effects on the processor temperature. As you can see from the pp. 17-19, the surface flatness is the significant factor, so the other way of decreasing the temperature is to check if the cooler basement is flat and, if it's not, to polish it.
