Sync songs details problems

Hello,
I have recently bought an iPod touch 4, who replaced my iPod .
After updating everyhing needed, I started syncing all of my songs to the new iPod.
The problem is the many details about my media is showing incorrectly. For example, some songs will show when looking in the Songs list, but will not show when clicking on their Artist name through artist list.
Another problem is that when changing names of artits, songs, etc, and then syncing, it does not update it on my iPod.
It's important for me to say that I never had this problems with the old iPod (pressing Sync would immediately update all the changes I have made).
Thanks in advance!

I have found the solution. In the settings, under "Music", there is an option that organize artists by their album. I don't know what exactly is the purpose of it, but I turned it off, and the display went back to the way I knew it on iPod 3.

  • Having a problem with iTunes 10.7 update and syncing songs to my iPhone 4

Can anybody help me out please. I just recently downloaded iTunes 10.7 and whenever I try to sync songs to my iPhone 4 it freezes for about 5 minutes. I go onto my phone to check if the songs have been synced and it says they're there, however, they won't play. Instead of the song name being in a black coloured font it's kind of in a white/grey coloured font and you can't do anything with them. Does anyone know what the problem is? I tried uninstalling iTunes then reinstalling it but that hasn't worked either. I've also tried to reset my phone to its default settings, although the same problem occurs.

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

  • Problems syncing songs selectively

When I first got my iPod Touch, I started syncing my entire iTunes library, then change my mind and cancelled because I wanted to do it selectively. By this time, I had a lot of unwanted music so I went to Settings and deleted all my data and settings to begin again.
I then went to iTunes and UNchecked every single song. To start syncing the songs I wanted, I checked the songs of one artist only. But my iPod Touch refuses to sync them. When I turn on my iPod, iTunes no longer opens. When I open it manually and try to sync.... it says it's doing it, but doesn't. HELP PLEASE!

    Hello jap0nica,
Since you are only wanting to sync songs and videos with tick marks, make sure you have the *Sync Only Checked songs and videos* option ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab as well.
If that is already the case, what configurations have you made from under the Music tab?
As for iTunes no longer opening, have you checked to make sure the *Open iTunes when this iPod is connected* option ticked from under the Summary tab?

  • Possible bug in iTunes 10.6 - keeps re-syncing songs

I have several hundred MP3s of very old songs from the 1910s and 1920s which sync to my iPod without problems.  When I acquired an iPhone 3GS with more limited capacity, I set iTunes to "convert higher bitrate songs to 128Kbps AAC".  This worked fine under iTunes 10.5.  Now that I have "upgraded" to 10.6, iTunes keeps re-syncing and re-converting some -- but not all -- of the higher bitrate songs.  Apparently iTunes is flagging these songs for re-syncing, which takes  hours since they all must be converted to 128Kbps.
I tried to detemine whether the file type, ID3 tags, sample rate, LAME encoder version, etc., were to blame.  In all these cases the re-syncing occurred with some songs but not others.  I then began to notice that the re-synced songs are monaural, single channel, while stereo songs do not keep re-syncing.  As an experiment, I used the menu option "Convert to AAC" on one song.  That song synced and then did not re-sync.  Examining the original and converted files in Audacity showed that the conversion did not add a channel, but the bit depth changed from "32-bit float" to "16-bit PCM" and the bitrate went from 320 constant to 128 VBR.  The menu option "Convert to iPod or iPhone version" is grayed out, and in any event I don't know what it does.
At this point I'm frustrated.  I don't want to load up iTunes with duplicate songs, and I don't want to delete my higher bitrate files.  I have no idea why iTunes should favor one file format and reject another.
Audacity can convert individual songs to dual channel but does not have a setting to batch-convert channels.  I don't know of any other utility that will batch-convert single channel to dual channel; I tried Switch and Max, and while they have a setting to export stereo, they don't seem to convert mono to stereo (joint or otherwise).
Can anyone explain why this is occurring? Any suggestions for batch-convert utilities or other workarounds?

well, I couldn't wait till next week to sync the little ol' iPod again, so did it today today, and yes... the re-syncing problem is definitely caused by the monaural files. or rather, the fact that the syncing program in iTunes is configured in such a way that it keeps looking at these files as 'new' and in need of syncing, or something like that... so, if there's anybody out there who knows how to get this info to the right man at Apple, please don't keep us in the dark...
it probably is fixed easily, but before that happens it'll probably have to go through heaps of red tape... we'll sit it out 'till then, just sitting there, in our gloomy rooms, handling the mono to stereo thingies, doing our thing... sniff...lol

  • ITunes will not sync songs onto iPhone, troubleshooting methods not working

Simply put, songs will not download onto my iPhone.  I have tried every method that I could think of to solve this:
    -restarting phone and mac
    -updating iTunes
-taking off all the music from the phone and redownloading
-rechecking the little check thing that says I want that song
    -restoring my phone
-going onto the individual tab to sync and syncing from there(which leads to a whole other problem, because that deletes songs(story for another thread))
-manually dragging songs onto my phone icon dropbox thingy
-making sure the songs are the proper files
... and still nothing has worked.
When I go on my phone menu when its plugged into iTunes, and then go to the 'On Device' section, it shows that the songs are there, but they are faded out with this little circle thing next to them(I don't know if this is significant).
I'm at my wits end, I just don't know what to do.  I don't understand why iTunes is refusing to do something as simple as sync songs.
Any ideas? Thank you for any help you can provide!

    UPDATE:
I finally figured it out (though I'm not sure this counts as 'figuring it out').
So, what worked for me was unchecking the check box thing next to the song and syncing the phone.  After the sync--behold!--, the songs were in my phone.  I don't know if this is another glitch or not, but I'm running with it.
I wanted to post the answer so that other people who may have had this issue can hopefully resolve it.

  • Ipod Will not Sync - Songs skip wont play

    Hi,
I am using windows vista 64 and ITunes 8.
Whenever I attempt to sync my music (especially LARGE play lists) iTunes will pause wait ages, even tho the ipod is already attached it will reattach itself (ie windows will ask again if I would like to use it for ready boost) then it will start to sync. Everything appears fine but the music will not play. When I attempt to play a a song it will skip around and play 1 second of the start of the song then the a bit from the middle then the start again then either crash the iPod or just skip to the next song.
    - I have tried this on 4 different ipods (all 4'th gen) all of which I know work
    - My music is currently being stored on a windows home server and I access it over a network.
I have reinstalled iTunes 5 times. It used to work fine with itunes 7.7 this only has happened since I upgraded, and yes I know the first release of iTunes 8 was faulty...
Any Ideas? I have been trying to sort this for 3 weeks now....

Same here. At time I will end up with a message saying ITunes cannot read the Ipdo please restore...Between those episode, the only way i have found to sync & read complete songs was to sync song by group of 3 or 4...if i try to sync larger group, i will end with song that stops on the Ipdod after 30-40 sec...This problem has occured for more then a year and Imn very tired to reload my 60G 3 songs at the time...:(

  • IPod Classic 120GB won't sync songs

My iPod recently began having issues, such as not playing songs that should've worked, skipping over them, etc. So I chose to restore it, and now it stops syncing songs at around 3 GB worth of music, and I'll either get error 1303, 53, or 69. I sync manually, no photos or anything besides music. When it gets to around 3GB full, the sync will start going really slow, and I can hear a weird crackling sound coming from my iPod, as if it's trying too hard, and then the error message pops up after this goes on for a while.
Here's what I've tried so far:
    - 5 R's
    - Disk Mode
    - Turning off UAC
    - Using the Administrator as the account doing the sync
    - Using different usb cable
    - Using different USB ports
    - Using different laptop/desktop
    - Updating Itunes, Ipod, & Windows Updates
Everytime I see a "solution" in a thread, I try it, and not one of them has worked. I've also heard it is a hard drive issue, relating to Itunes 9.0.3, which I've been using. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2298386&tstart=15
If nobody has an answer, at least can someone tell me how to convince Apple to send me a replacement? My iPod is still under coverage of the warranty.

Same thing happened to me. I took the ipod back yesterday to the apple store and I got a new one. However, I'm still having the same problem. I think that something is wrong with the settings or itunes 9 itself. Going to keep checking.

  • ITunes sync with cable problem (WiFi sync works OK though)

When I connect my Iphone 4S to iTunes (win 7 premium 64bit) and sync songs/images, they end up all halfcomplete and glitchy on my iphone.
For example: Songs are incomplete and glitchy (begins in the middle of the song when played etc.)
Some images are totally black, or half glitch pixelated etc.
Ive tried with another cable/USB-ports, still same problem. Thinking about trying another computer but since the iphone can only sync to one iTunes at a time, its quite inconvienient..
When I WiFi-sync it syncs OK though.
Any ideas what could be wrong? Computer, iphone hardware etc?

Plug your phone in with the cable - then in your device menu, you'll see "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi" as an option in Summary page under Options.  The rest will be history.

  • HELP: iTunes 6 unable to sync songs with ipod - hangs freezes crashes

    Hi,
This has been posted before, but a search of 500 messages have turned up no solutions. Anyone who has any idea of a solution please help.
    PROBLEM:
iTunes 6 and ipod 5th gen unable to sync songs or manually move more than 50 songs at a time to ipod. It hangs / freezes / crashes when updating the ipod. It will stop at 50 songs, 100 songs, sometimes even 2200 songs - out of 8000.
The "Beachball of death" comes on, and there is no way to force quit or stop the now frozen update. The only thing that gets a response is pulling the ipod from the dock or powering the computer down manually.
    TRIED:
    1. Repair permissions
    2. Update ipod with latest ipod update software
    3. Restore ipod " " " " '
    4. Used Activity Monitor to see where program hangs - no added info, it will stop randomly at different songs, and next time around it will pick another son to hang / freeze at
    5. uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Preferences pane
I am at my wits end with this..... will try anything.... even Voodoo at this point as long as you tell me it worked for you!
Anyone ever solved this long standing problem (which seems to be present with iTunes 7 as well) ?

  • Can't sync songs to ipod - help?

I've been having trouble with syncing songs to my ipod. I inadvertently lost all my songs, but they agreed to restore them. So far, so good. All the 50+ songs that I'd purchased from itunes in the last 2 years were restored --- but to what? My "library?" While all those songs appear whenever I plug in my ipod, there is no way they will sync back onto the ipod. Should I burn all those songs to CD's and then try to sync them? Apple suppost says they can't help me any further.
    Wicked Witch in Indiana

    Ummm.
If your iPod says it is connected to another library, it should ask you if you want to replace all the songs on it. Click "Yes."
There is really no need to open up an old Library file.
To delete music from iTunes and iPod, simply hilight the song(s) you want to delete, press the delete key, and make sure you click "Move to Recycle Bin."
If this has nothing to do with your problem, please post back, only a with little more clarity.

  • ITunes is not consistent while syncing songs and tones with iPhone 6

    Hi
I had iPhone 4 but 2 years ago, I had severe problems while syncing songs to my iPhone. The iTunes would miss some songs while syncing. In next sync, some songs were added but some other ones went missing. I was very frustrated with the dependency of iPhone on iTunes. Since last 2 years I was on windows/android and decided to go back to iPhone (6) hoping that things would have been better in these last 2 years... however, had a lot of disappointment.
    1. Note that I have a new laptop (Windows 8) with fresh install of iTunes. There was always problems while installing iTunes as I had to install in "adminstrator mode".  After installing, whenever I run itunes as "administrator" it lets me tweak the preferences of itunes easily, but does not allow me to add any mp3 songs to a playlist. I have to then shut down the itunes and run it normally: it allows me to add mp3s to playlist.....
    2. I have a work laptop which I use to sync work related device (iPhone 6 mentioned is never synced with this work PC) and have a different iTunes login. With this work PC, I never had problems with iTunes install or syncing to iDevice
    3. While syncing my home PC to iPhone 6, I can always see iTunes tries to transfer some songs which I know were already there on iPhone a few minutes ago. It is also "moody": it will sometimes say that "xyz" ringtone cannot be synced as it was not found!
    4. The iTunes frequently hangs while trying to sync (on step 1 of  5 of sync)
    5. I got so frustrated I had to delete all songs, from iPhone (took a while!), completely uninstall iTunes, remove iTunes library from "C:\users\"username\Music" folder, reinstalled iTunes, painstakingly created the whole library, synced. This time it was a success
    6. Apparently, 2 years ago with my iPhone 4, the same problems used to occur (I had another itunes account and different PC then).
My past is haunting me again! Please help. I am so afraid to do another iTunes-iPhone 6 sync as I fear selective loss of songs...... Please help! I have already spent 5 hours (out of 48 hours that I had been associated with iPhone 6 since its release on 19 Sep), on problem solving, reading articles and am so frustrated with iTunes sync issue that I am ready to sell this phone although very nicely made by Apple. On Android, I simply add songs to SD card and use a player called Folder Player that makes a playlist of folders with music in it. There are so many "behavioral" problems that I have come across on different forums and wonder why Apple cannot fix them?

    Hi Pamela85
Can't say much about Mac, however I discovered an issue in Windows PC that my profile did not have full access to C: drive (admin rights). Consequently, iTunes had difficulty with getting into the right mode where it could make changes. I have created a partition (D Drive), have installed iTunes there. Doing some experiements; will revert back in due course of time after doing some rounds of sync....

  • Export song details to windows explorer

I am trying to make the song details such as album name and artist show up in the media properties of the itunes media folder in windows explorer in windows 8.1. All the information shows in iTunes, and although I have consolidated the library and ticked Keep Media Folder Organised under Edit > Preferences > Advanced, the information is not showing. In explorer nothing is Read only and the "Allow this file to have contents indexed in addition to file" check box is ticked for all songs. The only songs that I am having this problem with are ones that have been imported from a CD.
    Thanks!

    MeerCat Man,
iTunes does not process tags for WAV files.  It stores the Artist, Album, etc in the library (and displays them in the normal fashion) but they are not part of the file and will not be available if the file is viewed outside of iTunes.  Pls consider converting the WAV files to AIFF, which has the same full uncompressed PCM encoding as WAV, but also allows tags and artwork to be embedded in the file.
Regarding the Convert ID3 Tag command, right-click the iTunes library entry of the MP3 song, and the command will appear in the contextual menu.  (It will not appear when you right-click the library entry of a WAV file, for reasons that are apparent per the previous paragraph.)
Let us know how it goes.

On my phone, next to each of those songs, theres a cloud with an arrow going through it. How do I delete those songs? I can't delete the songs from my computer because they aren't in a specific playlist, they just got randomly added to my songs on my phone.

I just found out that I am having the same problem!! It is driving me nuts. Now I know why I am running out of space on my iPhone. It's ghosting the others songs, until you see them when you go to sync. Hopefully, someone has an answer. I have gone through every HELP subject and discussion board I could find on the situation.

Windows Explorer will display tag properties for mp3 & wma files, not aac (m4a) or wav. It is possible for mp3 files to contain multiple tags but only one will be displayed. Try inspecting the problem fils with a third party tag editor to see if you can tell what is going on. For mp3 files, provided all the details that you want the file to have are displayed in iTunes, you can try using the right-click option Convert ID3 Tag > None a few times followed by Convert ID3 Tag > ID3v2.3 which may well help.
