Sync T/X and Zire 72 ?
Hi all,
I've been using the Palm T/X for a while and my husband has a Zire 72 but has not been using it. My Palm T/X is having ongoing problems with Graffiti so he suggested I start using his Zire 72.
My T/X info is under C:\Program Files\Palm so I created a new folder for the Zire72 and then copied my current files over to the Zire 72 however when we try to sync, it asks if we want to create a new user. I tried giving it the same name but that didn't work.
Is there a way to duplicate my current information over to the Zire 72? I thought it would be easy to simply copy over folders/files and do a sync but I just spent an hour fiddling around with this stuff.
BTW - I'm using WinXP Professional SP3.

Unable to Sync i-Tunes and Apple TV
Hello. I am writing about my inability to sync i-Tunes and Apple TV. I have read a variety of posts in this forum regarding other users' problems with the same issue and have been unable to solve my own based on recommendations, including exchanging my Apple TV for a new one at my local Apple store, which I did.
My Apple TV is linked to my computer through a Linksys wireless router. The Apple TV is able to connect to the internet as demonstrated by its ability to download movie trailers, access YouTube, and get its software updated. It appears in my i-Tunes (version 7.5.0.20) devices list, but each time I click on sync, nothing happens. I get an error message about opening port 3689 because but that port is not blocked. I've shut down my TrendMicro "PC Cillin" firewall and the same message comes up.
So in sum, the Apple TV can link out to the internet but not back to my i-Tunes. Both are running latest software versions. Here's the best part, before I moved a few months ago to my current home, both worked and communicated fine! After I moved and hooked everything back up the way it was, Apple TV didn't work the same (i.e., did not sync with i-Tunes). Thinking it was a problem with Apple TV, I exchanged it for a new one recently. But the new one has the same problem, so it's not the Apple TV unit.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.I had the same problem. I doubt it is the firewall software on your cpu but rather then one on the router itself. On your linksys control panel, go to applications and on the port list enter 3689 to 3689, enter the ip address for your appletv (you can get it from the apple tv or from the DHCP client list under the status tab on the router). Click enable then update. Or, you can simply disable the firewall on the security tab of the router but I would not recommend this. Even after updating, I had to unplug the apple tv to reboot it and then it worked fine.

When you sync the phone with your computer voice memos are copied to your iTunes library with the Genre "Voice memo".
To burn to CD you do it the same way you would any music; create a playlist of the memo(s), the right click on the playlist and choose "burn to CD". -
how do I delete photo ALBUMS from my iPHONE 4?

charles altmanReplying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

I just downloaded four books through iTunes. I tried 5 times to sync the books onto my iPhone. They did NOT appear on my iPhone. Previous books synced without problems. I tired syncing ALL books, and also selected book by selecting the new books. No luck. What do/can I do now. iTunes prevents me downloading again. The books show on the computer. I cannot redownload direct to my iPhone now as iTunes indicates the books are already downloaded.What do/can I do now?
You got the new iphone????? I have same problem. I transferred audiobooks to device to find no audiobooks on device (despite it being in iTunes as if it was). Have you found a solution????? I even tried to change import settings on format transfer but hasn't worked.

My MacBook Pro was stolen last night. I need the serial number. It is not showing up on my devices list. My iPads and iPhones are. I have used it to to sync my phones and pads as well having it registered with apple. Any thoughts? Thanks

SIgn in with your Apple ID, the same one you used to access this support forum.
Hopefully, you will see a list of all the devices you registered with your Apple ID, including their serial numbers. Let me know how this works out.
Edit to add: If you enabled "find my imac" on your Pro, you ought to be able to remotely lock it, or even wipe its memory. Click http://www.icloud.com/ sign in with your Apple ID and click the big green "find my iPhone" icon (nevermind the name, it will find all your devices provided they're running Lion or iOS 5).
Then file a police report and nail the b*****d. -
I have an iphone and it is obviously registered to my itunes so i have all my apps and music on it and my sister just got the new ipod touch and wants my apps and music and so i went to register it to my itunes to sync my music and apps to it just before her birthday but itunes crashed on one of the stages (the final stage i think) of registartion and so i had to close itunes and start it up again but it didnt give me the steps to register the ipod again and now when i connect it i go onto the ipod button and it is just blank with ipod written in the middle with no autofill buttons or sync buttons or any automatic fills and i cant drag music onto it either. Is there anything i can do?
- You need to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and start anew. Is the restore button visable in iTunes? If it is they restore the iPod.
- If it is not visible try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- If the restore button is still not visable, try placing the iPod in recovry mode. See:

I have problem with syncing in itunes and it stared since i installed new version of itunes.it stuck in backup step for houres.what shud i do?
So, in iTunes, when you look at the shuffle's content (in the sidebar) and click on the playlist under the shuffle, over to the right, the songs are in your desired order, correct? Where do you look, or what do you do, that indicates the playlists are in alphabetical order? Are you saying that when you play the songs while using the shuffle, they play in alphabetical order?
If so, when you listen to the songs on the shuffle, are you using the playlist, or are you using the All Songs list? If you are in the default All Songs list, with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order (the middle position), the songs play alphabetically, I believe.
The 3rd gen shuffle uses VoiceOver. If you are in the All Songs list, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to the playlist (see manual linked below for details). When you are in the playlist (with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order), then the songs should play in playlist order.

When I add stuff to my computer google calendar, it syncs with iphone and ipad, but when I add stuff to ipad or iphone, it doesn't sync with the other calendars. How do I fix this?

When I try to sync my iPad and iPhone it will get within the last 3 pictures then stop giving me an APPCRASH error message. Then iTunes will shut down. No matter what I do to increase or decrease the number of pictures it always stops 3rd from the last.

I just purchased a new computer and downloaded I tunes but when I go to sync my iphone and ipad touch my library from my old computer doesn't show up on the new one. Only the purchased itune songs come up. How do I get my original itunes library?
Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If not, and you still have your old computer, then there a number of methods described on this page which you can use to copy your library over : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 . If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

How can I get back to syncing my Ipad, and Iphone 4 the old fashion way
I have installed upgraded itunes, upgraded my Iphone operation system to 5.1, and installed Icloud. This is where the problems all began.
Icloud and I have everything (contacts, calendar events, photos) so messed up, it would take a Apple Surgeon to fix it all. Is there a way to start over and go back to syncing my ipad, and iphone with itunes....it was sooooo easy and all units were the same.
If I connect today, USB to computer and itunes, it will sync however add duplicates everywhere? I just wanna go home ! Removing Icloud from all three devices, Computer, Ipad 2, and Iphone 4Pictures are not stored in iTunes.
Any pictures taken with the device, like with any other digital camera, are designd to be copied off the device to the computer on a regular basis. Via iTunes, pictures that the user chooses to have on the device can be synced back.
As Ralph stated, updating iTunes will not affect the media in the library. That being said, it has always been very basic to maintain a backup of important files. If you do not currently have a backup of your important files, I would strongly encourage you to make one.
