Sync to beat in Logic Pro when remixing

I am doing a remix of an AIF file of a old tape original. The tempo varies dramatically... Can I assign new parts to sync to beat over the original AIF file, denying the grid and tempo settings?
I know there is some way to do this. I was cutting and matching manually - A TOTAL PAIN.

But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are.This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. Syncing Battery 3 with Logic Pro 7

I'm new to Logic Pro and let me just say that this is the best production prog I have ever used..
That aside.. I've had Battery 3 for sometime now and would like to learn how to sync it up with Logic..
Can someone explain how to do this?
I also have FM8.. will that sync up as well?
I've never sync up 2 apps b4.. so be gentle when explaining.

Open Logic
open arrange window
select or create an Audio Instrument track (not an Audio track)
On the left side of the screen above the fader control you will see 2 input and output slots (it has "I/O" above it)
The top one is the input slot. Click hold til you get a pull down menu.
Select Stereo>AU Instruments> Native Instruments>Battery
The battery window will open just like using it as stand alone. Select your kit. Anything you write/play/record to that track will play with that drum kit sounds
If you can't see Battery 3 then you may be using an Intel Mac but not have the Universal Binary upgrade for Battery installed.

Dropping beat into logic pro only puts 1 minute of a 3 minute beat help

Im taking a beat from iTunes and dropping it into logic pro x but the beat is 3 minutes long and logic pro will only take about 1 minute of the beat how do i stop it from cutting the beat that short

Either you can reinstall from the DVDs you got as part of the Boxed set of Logic Studio 2/Logic Pro or.. if you purchased Logic Pro via the app store, download it again by going to the App Store app on your new Mac and going to the purchased tab which, after signing in using your Apple ID and password, will allow you to download Logic once more.
Note: In regards to the DVD boxed set... Some of the modern Macs no longer come with DVD/CD drives built in so you should make DMG images of your DVDs using your old Mac and the Disk utility... and store them on an external Hard Drive which you can then contact to your new Mac and install Logic from
2) You can select several regions at the same time and move them as you wish..
If you hold down the option key you will actually be able to make a copy of them and when you move them the originals will still be left in place..

I have two macbooks from 2007. Both have logic pro 8 on them. I'm scoring to film but neither machine can run the video and audio together without having
serious audio skipping and video freezing. My Question is can I sync the two machines together where one machine is used for composing/scoring and the other just playsback the video in sync with the audio? I can't afford a new computer with a processor that could handle these tasks together so I'm hoping that this option would suffice.

I think Logic Node might help with your processing issues. Essentially you can link your computers over a gigabit ethernet cable to divide up the load. I happen to have Logic Pro 9 so it might not work the same for the previous version. Consult your manual and see if that could help you out. Best of luck : )

Logic Pro when recording audio and midi takes, the regions sometimes become confused. The midi tracks line up with audio tracks.

When recording midi and audio tracks simutaneously the midi tracks don't always line up with the software instrument channel. They may show up on the audio track. Sometimes they appear white instead of the normal green. Any suggestions?

Can I open Remix Tools 2 in Logic Pro's Loop Browser?

I have no problem opening up GarageBand's Jam Pack Remix Tools 2, but can only figure it out through "Import Audio File" and it's in the form of one extremely long list of files.
Is there anyway to open up this Remix Tools 2 in the same fashion of opening up "Jam Pack Management" that came with Logic Pro when I bought it? That looks a lot more organized and I'd rather click on "beats" or "bass" versus scrolling down the listen of Remix Tools 2 in alphabetical order trying to find each "beat" or "bass" contained in every file.
I'd like to open this up Remix Tools 2 through "Audio" -> "Loop Browser" but don't understand the means to get it there or if it is possible even. Any help would be grateful.

How to sync logic pro 9 to akai 61 mpk

I just bought an Akai 61 MPK and I need some guidance in syncing the MPK to logic pro 9. Is there a simple method of doing this? I tried to use the learned feature but with no success. Thanks in advance for any help or point me in the right direction.

If you bought it via the app store then you can always download it again via the Purchase tab in the Mac App Store..... using the same Apple ID you used to buy iot in the first place.. You cannot buy it currently on the Mac App Store.. but if you previously bought it from there you can download and install it again...
if you bought it as part of Logic Studio.. (DVD version) then you will have to reinstall it via those DVDs)
I dont recommend trying to re-install it via TM backups... That always seems to cause issues...
Note: If you are planning on upgrading OS X to a laster version.. don't.... unless you absolutely have to as LP9.1.5 or at least 9.1.8 and SL 10.6.8 is still the most stable and best performing combination to date. LP9 and Yosemite is currently really a no go at this time.. due to many issues.

Instruments in Logic Pro 9 Library will not load: I try to add a new instrument on a project and get a "cannot be found" error.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
As a faculty member in the School of Music, I have just acquired a copy of Logic Pro 9.1.8 through my University. The programs and instrument packs were installed by our IT department and show as being fully installed on Logic Pro when I search for additional content through the Logic Pro tab at the top of the screen. The window shows that all 6 Jam Packs, Logic Pro & Main Stage Content (Essential and Additional) GarageBand content, and Surround content is installed. However when I try and add a new instrument on a project, most of these instruments cannot be found. I get the following error:
Audio file “KB_pizz_f_C1.wav” not found!
I then press the Continue Tab, and it looks for the instruments in an empty file that Logic creates in the Music section of the hard drive. I have investigated the sounds by going through the MAC Hard Drive>Library>Application Support>Logic>Sampler Instruments folder, and tried to copy the sounds into the Music>Logic folder created by the program. That does not work either. Even attempting to go into these Logic Pro instrument files one at a time has proved fruitless. I am told that the file cannot be opened.
The files appear to be installed, but cannot be accessed or opened. They all have that translucent grey appearance when I attempt to click on the icon. This is true for about 80% of the files in the instrumental library. Whenever I create an instrument, the EVP88 Electric Piano is installed by default. There are a few instruments that I can successfully replace this default instrument with, but a majority of the instrumental library remains unavailable. Can anyone help?

You might try a different way of adding the video files to the web page. This demo page has one where the file does not load until the play button is selected: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. This demo page has 9 short videos on it using that method: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes. Just add a screenshot of one of the movie frames or any photo you want and add the Play button on or below it.
You manually upload the movie file to your server so iWeb is not involved in the uploading the file at any time.
Similarly this demo page, QT movies via iFrame, has a method that has you manually uploading the file to the server and linking to it via iFrame code. That page also has other similar methods.
Another method is demonstrated in Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site on his Video page. Here you also upload manually.

HT2375 Logic Pro 9 wont open up anymore.

I was making a beat using Logic Pro and recently installed a plug in called Maschine. One of the instruments suddenly stopped making sound. It wasn't muted and the volume was up. I tried closing Logic and reopening it, but now it wont open. I just get a pop up box saying "The application Logic Pro can't be opened. -1712" Why is this happening and what do I do?"

Please post up the full crash log so someone here can take a look/see at what might be causing the crash....

Why does the logic pro 9 upgrade not work on OS X 10.8.4 ?

Just decided to upgrade to logic 9 from my 8 (an upgrade from 6!) but I also have Protools on my computer (dont hate). Tools 11 needs 10.8.4 but the logic 9 update refuses to work with 10.8.4 ...BTW pro 8 is still working well on my system, but 9 has some additional cool featurs etc
Additionally an upate to Logic X loses all my 32bit plugins so...I am staying with 8/9 for a while ..any help to get 9 functional??

It is the installer that's quitting, or Logic Pro when you try to launch it? If the latter, download all the available updates, either through Software Update or the standalone downloaders;

IPhoto added my logic pro icons how do I remove them?

iPhoto added all of the icons and images from Logic Pro when I purchased Logic Pro. I don't want these types of images managed in iPhoto, i.e. program icons and internal images for software.
I've heard that if I delete them from iPhoto it will erase them from the hard disk, which could cause some problems with Logic Pro.
How can I get these photos out of iPhoto and stop iPhoto from doing this in the future? Thanks

You can delete the photo from iPhoto without removing them from where the originally came from, the Logic Pro application. It appears you accidentally dragged the LP app into the iPhoto window or onto the iPhoto icon in the dock and imported all image files in that app into your library.
Drag the icons in iPhoto to the iPhoto Trash and empty the iPhoto trash bin. If you're running iPhoto 9 or later those image files will end up in the Trash bin on the Dock. Empty the Trash bin in the Dock and they will be removed from the hard drive.

How can I buy logic pro 9?

I have been running Logic Express on a dual G5 pro for a long time, and have had a used "late 2007" intel Mac Pro on standby for a few years. Time hasn't permitted the rebuild of my studio until now.
Now I want to buy a later version of Logic Pro for the intel mac pro than the Logic Express I had. Logic Pro X requires Mac OS X 10.8, which in turn requires an "early 2008" intel Mac Pro or later, so I can't buy Logic Pro X. But Logic Pro 9 was sold through the App Store - which only offers Logic Pro X. I can't buy a used Logic Pro 9, nor can I buy a new one.
How on earth do I go about buying any version of Logic Pro, when my mac is older than five years?

It's not available on the App store anymore, but you can buy it on ebay for next to nothing since the launch of LPX.

Logic Pro free upgrade?

Is it free to upgrade Logic Pro when a new version is released? I want to buy Logic but I don't want to waste $200 if a newer version will be released within a few months that I would also have to buy. Thanks for your help.

You might want to call Apple on that one, this is a User forum, we would only be speculating. Everyone knows a new version of Logic is coming out, probably in the next few months but honestly, no one knows when and if they did they can't say. Usually if you purchase the softer and a new version comes out in a certain time frame the upgrade would be free... but I don't think anyone knows how long the free upgrade window is going to cover.
