Sync to Iphone3G via itunes7.7 and Exchange (via outlook2007)

Hi, I've tried to scour the board for similar issues so i hope I'm not duplicating here...
I connect to my exchange server via outlook 2007. Right now, both my contacts and my calendar sit on the server side. I am attempting to sync my calendar and contacts, but I'm having issues. Here are the symptoms:
1. Under the "Info" tab, the "Contacts" section shows the various different contact groups that I have on the server. I CAN sync all contact groups onto my Iphone, and changes made on the fly are working well.
2. Under the "Calendar" section, I can see one selection called "Calendar" (as I only have one calendar on the exchange server). I have tried selecting it explicitly, as well as choosing "All Calendars". I've tried to toggle the "do not sync events older than..." setting. I've tried to toggle the "Advanced" section to replace information on this iphone.
When i hit the "Sync" button, it take quite a while to finish (it looks like it's doing something). When it's finished, i can see that my contacts have been synchronized, but my calendar still shows up empty. (this is true both ways: iphone is not reflecting my outlook/exchange calendar, and my outlook/exchange calendar is not reflecting changes/events entered on the phone).
I've tried the steps outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692 , but to no avail... (there are some steps that are not possible to do - i.e. b/c it's on exchange, i cannot attempt to sync under a different user). It also suggests to delete all calendar items, but this is not possible (i have hundreds of business critical items in there). Most of these items are meeting invitations which i would like to keep track of on my phone.
I've also seen this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7671152 where it seems to be the same issue, but no resolution was posted.
Any ideas will be much appreciated.

I can't get my iPad Reminders app to sync with MS Exchange server To Dos. All I see are Tasks and only the incomplete Tasks. Are you able to see ToDos as well as Tasks?

No, you can not directly attach one drive to two computers at the same time, period. In particular, you can't use it for Time machine this way.

How to sync up apple contact book and exchange contacts

I have a bunch of contacts in my Apple Contact book but am using Outlook for Mac 2011 for email, contact management, and calendar. I have read that you have to sync your Apple contact book to your exchange account rather than directly to the Outlook for Mac 2011 programs so you don't create duplicates (contacts coming from the Apple address book AND the Exchange server). However, I can't find anything that tells me how to sync the Apple Contacts with my Exchange account. I figure at that point once synced, my exchange account will push the new contacts from the Apple Contact book back into Outlook for Mac 2011 making everything whole.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response. I do have the exchange service added and am only bringing the contacts down from the exchange side into the Contacts portion (not syncing mail, calendar, etc). It has seemed to create two different "sections' in the Apple Contacts Address book (Please see screenshot). I was hoping to somehow merge/sync these two so I am always working out of one directory. When I create a contact in my Outlook for Mac 2011 it dumps it in the "Exchange" section and up to my Exchange server. However, when I create one on my iphone and sync the phone with this system via usb cable, it puts all new contacts created in the "On My Mac" section thus not moving it to my Exchange or Outlook for Mac 2011 causing new contacts to only sync with different sections based on where they were created.
(As a side note, I have to sync via the firewire cable due to having over 10,000 contacts. There was an issue with the previous release of IOS that caused massive problems with syncing over the air with that many contacts. I've never fully recovered and have not had the hard to do over the air syncing again, hence the tethered sync).
If there is anything I can do to get this rolled into one Address book that syncs from phone all the way through to Exchange server, I would appreciate any additional direction. I've also included a second screen shot to show the difference between the Exchange contacts total (10,660) and the All on my Mac contacts total (10,774). Ideally they would both say 10,774.

Yes, if the AirPort Express is an 802.11n model. This version of the Express support the configuration as a wireless Ethernet bridge. Apple calls this configuration a ProxySTA.

Syncing music between macbook, iphone and iPad via iCloud

Question: I downloaded an album to my Macbook. I thought since I use icloud that it would be available on my iphone and ipad, but it isn't. How do I get it on those devices? Thanks.

You will need to enable automatic downloads on the iPad and iPhone in order for the songs to be automatically be available

This only works for purchases made once this is enabled.
For previous purchases launch the iTunes app on the iPad or iPhone and select more and then purchased to download.

How do I Sync Contacts with Windows Live and Exchange on same phone?

We use Exchange 2007 at the office for our corporate email. I also use Windows Live for personal email. Everything works great from the iPhone. I'm able to get both Exchange email and Live email via "push" on my iPhone.
My question surrounds how to sync my Windows Live contacts to my iPhone. Can anyone guide me in getting this achieved? Right now, the only contacts getting synched are those in Exchange. Note that we use IMAP and not POP3 for Exchange. Not sure that it makes a difference.

To achieve this, you need to export your Windows Live address list to an XML file.
Go to people.live.com, select Manage followed by Export. In iTunes, you can then select to sync the XML file.

Receiving Image via socket and creating via byte[]...

I�m trying to send a WebCam SnapShot to my Midlet running in a PDA via socket..
The method used to send the Image is:

Simultaneous import of video via firewire and audio via in-line audio port

I have a converter that takes the S-video and audio input from my DVR then converts both to DV format, and then outputs via firewire. I hook the firewire up to my G5, open iMovieHD, and the application recognizes that as a camera and imports wonderfully.
Well, the audio comes through with a MAJOR buzz or hum. It's probably the converter, but the buzz/hum is not enjoyable.
So, I removed the audio from the converter, and the video converts wonderfully in iMovie without the audio. I have the audio coming in through my audio line-in.
I start to import my video, and iMovie starts recording the video. But I want to record the line-in audio at the same time. But when I switch to audio to turn on the input from the line-in, the video stops capturing.
When I start to capture audio first, then switch to capture video, then the audio stops capturing.
Is there any way that I can capture the video via firewire for one "track", and my line-in audio for the other "track", and have them play simultaneously in iMovie during capture??

i don't think you can do that. it sounds like your issue is electrical. try turning the plug around on each piece of gear in the chain & listen for the buzz. if it's not heard you've found the cause of your ground loop. you can also pick up some of the 3-prong orange or grey electrical adapters from Lowe's or Home Depot to see if you can "lift the ground" to get rid of the buzz. i'd try one on the convertor 1st. one last thing, do you have any flourescent lights in use on the same circuit or in proximity to where you're doing your transcoding? these are notorious for inducing 60Hz hum in audio & video gear.

The option to sync an email account under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes transfers the email account settings only from your computer to the iPhone's Mail application so you don't need to manually create the account. Email account mailboxes and messages are not included with the iTunes sync process.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. Email account mailboxes and messages are not kept synchronized with the server with a POP account. With an IMAP account, all server stored mailboxes are available with each email client used to access the account along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account. All server stored mailboxes are kept identical with each email client used to access the account.
The sync process for contacts and calendar events with a supported application on your computer is a bi-directional or true sync process.

Block a specific address via WiFi (and allow via Ethernet)?

Does anyone know of a way to block incoming connections from a specific IP address ONLY when using WiFi, but allow incoming connections from the same IP address when using ethernet?
Basically, like a micro-firewall. I've found myself in a situation dealing with a bug in our backup software (Retrospect—a once excellent Mac backup solution, now complete junkware that I wouldn't suggest touching with a 10-foot-pole) where it's trying to back up clients when they're on WiFi and the backups fail because it can't sustain the minimum speed threshold set.
There are two bugs I'm dealing with. 1) Retrospect Server is supposed to be IP-specific on the client side, but a bug is causing it to ignore the IP and just see "clients"; 2) Retrospect Server is supposed to "retry" backups again 30 minutes after a failture, but another bug is resulting in Retrospect not seeing the threshold failsures as a valid failure and thus doesn't attempt the retry. As a result, I'm having to manually monitor our mobile devices and manually push backups requests to them throughout the day. Very annoying, and a complete waste of time.
So, if I can find a way, on the client side, to block incoming pings from the server when on WiFi, but allow pings from the same IP when on ethernet, it'll solve my problem.
Ideally, I can do this command-line, without any third-party installations (so the users themselves don't notice anything, so I can push out through ARD, etc.).

All I want to know is whether the customer got their car back by us or they got it from the garage. I have outlined 4 scenarios
11112 customer gets there car back no issues..
11113 customer gets there car back on the second attempt.
11114 customer keeps not being in so we ask them to pick it up from the garage cust picks it up from garage.
11115 customer keeps not being in so we ask them to pick it up from the garage, but for what ever reason we end up dropping it off anyway.
The desired output to did the customer get there car back by us.

I was hoping someone could help me with this, what is more annoying is that the dates are all jumbled up. How would I go about writing the SQL to create my desired out puts?

The rule is
IF we drive the car to the customers house and the customer gets the car then everything is great we get a Yes.
IF we drive the car to the customers house and the customer isn't in and they have to pick it up from the garage then we get a No.
IF we drive the car to the customers house and the customer isn't in and we take it back to the garrage and then they call us up and say can we drop it off again later. WE will then drive the car to the customers house and the customer gets the car then everything is great we get a Yes.
Also they don't always follow in a pattern, as you can see the driver may notes the driver is getting food etc during his journey.

Running via https and/or http ?

Hi all,
The applications you are all working on, do you run them in a secure link? I have just read that Oracle recommends running Apex app's using https which is definitely what I need to do for most of my pages. Is that possible with the embedded webserver or will I need to configure a separate webserver? Is it straightforward/recommended to run some pages via http and others via https?
I'm using 11g and 3.2.

but I suppose you could read that as only applying to pages containing sensitive data, as anyone would recommend.
Thanks Andrew - you've answered my question that it is possible to use the embedded/bundled server to switch from http to https depending on the page ID, that's what I want to do. It's a public facing app. yes, and will contain some pages of sensitive data that the users would expect to use via a secure link.

Able to connect via airport but not via ethernet since fresh install

New format and reinstall of OS X. Software update to 10.4.5. Now I need to use ethernet and I get an error. I did NOT have ethernet attached when doing the install.
This used to work before the reinstall. I have tried different cables and different ports attached to the D-Link router (I use DSL).
Other computers on the net (iMac G5 via ethernet and Windows via Wireless) have no problems.
I have tried the network assistant, renewing DHCP lease (which does not work), manual config, ifconfig up and down and even tried to reapply the 10.4.5 update but to no avail. I have even rebooted (Ugh) several times.

I would attempt to find a Windows machine to set it up as Samsung's Mac software is abysmal.
However I have found this step by step on an Amazon review, I don't know if it will work:
1. Setup the physical printer machine according to manual. Then connect it your Macbook via USB. Make sure the printer is powered on and verify the Macbook is powered on with wireless network Access.
2. Insert the supplied software CD and double click on the CD from your desktop.
3. Double click and execute to Mac_installer folder >Installer OS X icon.
4. Complete the license agreement and installation steps.
5. This will be a standard install without the wireless option. This is your only option. You will not be given a chance to do the wireless installation like in the Windows version install.
6. Enter in the admin password to install the software.
7. Once the software confirmation screen pops up to confirm your installation was successful, proceed to DISconnect your USB connection to you Samsung Printer.
8. In case you missed it, Disconnect the USB connection between your Samsung printer and Macbook.
9. Navigate to Applications > Utilities >Print Setup Utility (For Mac OS X 10.5 - 10.7) Navigate to Applications > System preferences > Print & Fax.
10. Click Add on the printer list (For Mac OS X 10.5 - 10.7, click the PLUS sign) and new display will pop up.
11. On the "Default" Tab of the pop up display, select or highlight the Samsung printer. In the printer name column, it should be listed as "Samsung ML-2160 Series (NNNN)", then in the Kind column, It should be listed as "Bonjour"
Note: DO NOT select the Samsung Printer with the "USB" in the Kind column. This Samsung printer - USB option should only be selected if you intend to print from USB.
12. Click ADD, then select continue to create the print queue.
13. Now open up any word document with text and print a test page.

Other PC can access internet via cable but not via wireless.

Hi, I am new here. But I have a question hopefully someone can help to answer. I juts got myself signed up for one of those portable USB modem that you can use anywhere and you use a phone sim card to access the internet. I connect the usb device to my desktop computer and use a linksys wireless router to connect to other pc in the house. My problem is that the internet can be access by other pc's if I connect the other pc's via a network cable but no internet all if I connect via wireless. Any reason why it work via cable and not via WIFI? Is it the setting inside the router that is not set correctly. I pretty much left the setting on factory default except for the wireless network name. Any help to explain why this is happening is much appreciated. Thanks. Alex

Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: - Open
an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on
the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' to select the
extracted/uncompressed .img or .bin file and click on "Upgrade"-Wait for few seconds ....
It shows that "Upgrade successful" After
the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back
to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Reset the router for few seconds ....
Reconfigure it ....

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you can't do this on a computer, which would be much easier using drag and drop, then you will need to share the contacts with yourself in order to move them to the iCloud account.
