Sync to SharePoint Workspace

When I select Sync to SharePoint Workspace, I receive
‘Unspecified Errors’ for lists or libraries with subfolders.  If the list or library does not have a subfolder, those lists are synced
fine.

Hi Thomas,
Please check if SharePoint WorkSpaces client on other PC machines have this issue, if yes, it may be SharePoint related issue, we can check SharePoint ULS log related error for troubleshooting, if not, it may be an isolate issue to the SharePoint WorkSapce
client on this machine, please check if clearing the WorkSpace cache data could help per the following article.

    Hi,
Is this issue only occur in one client machine? Can other machines installed SharePoint Workspace 2010 works when perform syncing?
As you have reinstalled the 2687364 hotfix and the issue still exists, I suggest you install Office 2010 SP2 to see if it can work:

  • Sync to SharePoint Workspace with Calculated columns

I have a document library (in a SharePoint 2010 site) with a calculated column that will not Sync to the SharePoint Workspace 2010.  Once I remove the calculated column, it syncs fine.

  • SharePoint Workspace not syncing documents to SharePoint Site (2010)

When I try to sync any type of document (i.e. .doc, .docx, .xlxs, etc) from SharePoint Workspace to SharePoint site it doesn't sync.  This is not permissions related if you look at my notes.  I get no error message as well.  Any help is appreciated.
    Notes:
    1. I am able to sync newly created folders from SharePoint Workspace to SharePoint site and vice versa
    2. I am able to sync documents from SharePoint Site to SharePoint Workspace
    Thank you,
    SSC

    Hi  ,
A SharePoint workspace is automatically synchronized with the SharePoint site as follows:
1.All updates you make in a SharePoint workspace are immediately sent to the SharePoint site when you save them.
2.All content in the SharePoint workspace and the SharePoint site is automatically synchronized as frequently as possible, at minimum every 10 minutes, depending on network traffic.

  • SharePoint Workspace: How can I access synced files in Office Document Cache?

I have the following Scenario and I'm struggling on the Office Document Cache, I hope someone can help.
    * Document Library / SharePoint Site on SharePoint Server 2010 holding PDFs, Office Documents, videos etc.
    * We use SharePoint Workspace to sync the document library to Windows 8.1 Enterprise Clients and keep it up to date
    * This works fine so far. All documents are synced to the Clients and are stored in the Office Document Cache.
    * Now the problem: we want to build a Windows 8.1 Modern UI app that lists all documents stored in the Office Document Cache. We already built a similar app that is able to list normal folders stored in the Windows file system... but we can't find a
way to do that with documents stored in ODC.
Is that even possible and if yes, how can we do that? Are there any APIs or methods that we can use?
    Many thanks for any answer!

    Hello jh-work,
Maybe you can find something in the SharePoint Workspace 2010 SDK:

  • Publishing: Sharepoint WorkSpace Vs OneDrive for business

I've SharePoint 2013 on premise with OneDrive for business. I've published SharePoint Site Collection App with Web Application Proxy (WAP). When a user is at home, he can creates files on his OneDrive folder, these files are automatically synchronize with
    SharePoint 2013 server, OK ??
With SharePoint 2010 workspace, I think is different, user doesn't have a specific folder like OneDrive. When user is at home and creates a new file. Is this synchronize to SharePoint server ??? Must I publish something on WAP ??

SharePoint 2010 workspace syncs with SharePoint 2010.  If a user creates a document in a SharePoint Workspace library at home it will sync with SharePoint 2010 the next time they log in to the SharePoint 2010 environment.  If SharePoint is published
through WAP it probably limits the number of ports available. Which will keep the Workspace from syncing at that point.  But when the user comes back on-premises the document will sync with the SharePoint 2010 environment.  Workspace will still work
with SharePoint 2013, but it has been deprecated and will be going away at some time in the future.

  • Cant' Add files to SharePoint Workspace 2010

Hi:  I can't seem to find anything online regarding this problem.  When in a document library in SPW, I click on the Add documents icon and a file browser window opens.  I then select a file from the window and either double-click it or
press the Open button (both do the same).  The file browser window then closes but I don't see that the file was added to the folder.  I've tried this several times with the same result.  What am I doing wrong?
    Gary Michalske

    Hi Gary,
According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot upload documents to the library in SharePoint Workspace.
Was there any error when you uploading the documents?
I tested the same scenario per your post, however everything worked fine.
I recommend to delete the cache files and re-sync the library with SharePoint Workspace and then add documents to see if the issue still occurs.

  • Sharepoint Workspace 2010 scanning entire subnet on port 2492

We use Sharepoint Workspace here to sync Sharepoint sites locally to each PC. Some of those machines but not all will scan their entire subnet for port 2492. This is creating a lot of security alerts for us both because of the scanning behavior but also
because we block port 2492. I have read that this port is used for Sharepoint Workspace and I am fine with the client connecting to the server on this port but why are some of the clients scanning all over the place on this port?
Is it possible to configure Sharepoint Workspace to not use 2492 and instead use it's fallback ports of 80 and 443?
If the scanning behavior is due to a setting can we turn that setting off with Group Policy or a registry key or something?

    Hello DEngel8956,
As far as I know there is no configuration for this in Groove itself.
Maybe there is some additional information about this in the MS-GRVSSTP open specifications documentation:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc313096(v=office.12).aspx
It is interesting that it doesn't happen on all the machines. Maybe there are some different firewall configurations on those machines? Like you already stated, you need 2492, 80 or 443:

  • Sharepoint Workspace 2010 woes

Hello,  I have been trying to use the SharePoint workspace 2010 to upload files to the SharePoint site so my team can access the files remotely.  I have been running into an issue where I am not able to view the files that I upload via the workspace
on the site, even after I sync them.  The folders are visible but none of the files are.  The files are viewable from the workspace.  If I upload any files to the site, I am able to view them on both the workspace and the site itself.

Do you have the right link or enough permission to access SharePoint to sync the content from the website?
"I am not able to view the files that I upload via the workspace on the site, even after I sync them.  The folders are visible but none of the files are.  The files are viewable from the workspace"
In logic, When there is connectivity, the changes made to the local copy of libraries and lists are automatically synchronized with the corresponding items in an associate SharePoint site. SPW 210 treats all local changes as high priority and initiates an
immediate synchronization with SharePoint. When there is no connectivity, changes made in SharePoint workspaces are stored locally. The changes made offline are synchronized automatically the next time the user connects to the server.
Analyze 1: Do you meet the requirement? Regarding the software requirements, a SharePoint Workspace in SPW(SharePoint WorkSpace) 2010 can synchronize only with a site running on Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, SharePoint Foundation 2010, or SharePoint
    Online servers.
Analyze 2: Does it only happen when uploading the file? What's the kind of documents you want to upload? SPW 2010 does not support all SharePoint sites. And not all content types of SharePoint lists and libraries as shown below are supported in SPW 2010
either. Calendar, survey, and Wiki are, for example, non-supported types.
There is a lot of factors may causes this, you may visit the link below to get the more reference about this issue.

  • This list is too long to be synchronized with SharePoint WorkSpace

    Hello,
I Have a List with 30500 items in Sharepoint Site Collections. When I synchronise this Lists using on SharePoint Workspace I get this message " This list is too long to be synchronized with SharePoint WorkSpace".
    Someone Can help me.
    Best regards,

SharePoint Workspace has a maximum limit on lists of 30,000 items.  The only way to sync the list you are trying to sync is reduce the number of items in the list.  You can see the limit documented here:

  • FIM Sync and SharePoint Foundation 2013

I'm looking into syncing to SharePoint via the FIM synchronisation engine, not using the FIM Portal at all. There's a connector(MA) for SharePoint but it requires UPA, User Profile Service, which isn't in the foundation version.
I want to use foundation so I was thinking of using the PowerShell MA and the Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell namespace. I'd only be syncing users into a simple list. Does this seem like something that's doable? I'm thinking I might run into problems with
remoting since the SharePoint libraries are on the SharePoint server not on the FIM server.

Could you paste some lines before "MainEngineThread is returning 1603"?
    Maybe there would be something.
Have you tried to restart server and then run installer once again? Maybe there is any restart pending (I don't know - update or another installer)

  • Project Pro 2013 and syncing with SharePoint Online 2013 (Office 365)

    Good day,
I am experiencing some challenges with a Project Pro master project file and syncing to SharePoint 2013 (Office 365).
    What works
Individual projects can be synced to SharePoint without issue. Once synced, the site start page presents the Project Summary gant, clicking the Tasks link takes me to the tasks. Project files are stored in the Site Assets directory in each SharePoint site
    (one site per project file).
    What doesn't work
When I create a new project (and sync it to a new site), then add two (2) existing project files that reside on SharePoint and then sync to the new master project site I
don't see any content in the Project Summary gant, nor do I see any tasks in the task list. I can't figure out if this is not supported or if I've done something wrong. There are no error messages or indicators that I've done something wrong,
short of the master project projects not showing up on the master project site (nothing in the project summary gant and no tasks).
Some help would be greatly appreciated. Being able to render a master project is crucial to understanding timelines for many projects in a single view.

    Steven,
This is by design. Inserted Sub projects will NOT show in the Master Project Tasks list. You will only see tasks inserted directly at the Master Project Level.
Moreover, if you set up a dependency between Master project Task and Subproject task, then the sync will not work. All in all, there are limitations for this process, which is where Project Online/Project Server needs to be considered.

  • Cannot checkin/checkout html, js, txt, and jsp files in MS Sharepoint Workspace 2010

I am having issues checkin/checkout html, js and jsp files in Microsoft Sharepoint Workspace 2010. I can access (checkin/checkout) any files in the actual Sharepoint site, but when I am synchronized to the site in Sharepoint Workspace 2010 I cannot access
html, js, and jsp files. When I try to checkout a html file, a message pops up saying:
"Can not perform this operation. This document has been checked out or may no longer exist."
Could this be a synchronization issue, or was Sharepoint Workspace 2010 not design to work with html, js, txt, and jsp files?

  • How to Export SharePoint Workspace 2010 Lists to Excel

We are using SharePoint WorkSpace as our primary inter-office business repository.  Note, we are NOT on a local version of the SharePoint 2010 server, but rather utilize the cloud service on a subscription basis.
The problem we ran into is that there is NO option to grab items in a custom list and select Excel, CSV, XML, etc. as option for export. the ONLY option we have available is the SharePoint WorkSpace 2010 archive format (*.gax).  This looks like it is
    in some propietary binary format...
I am fairly certain in 2007 and the old "Groove" there was an option to do this?  Am I missing something here?

  • SharePoint Workspace 2010 still installed after upgrade to Office 2013

I'm working on a deployment of Office 2013 in a corporate environment.  Using the OCT, I've customized a package which is working well on machines that don't have previous version of Office installed.  However, many of the existing machines currently
have Office 2010.  After executing the Office 2013 package, we're noticing that while the upgrade works, SharePoint Workspace 2010 and the Office 2010 Tools still exist in the Start -> Programs menu.  I also see Office 2010 in Add/Remove programs
(along with the new Office 2013).  The OCT is specifically set to uninstall previous editions of Office during the upgrade (which is the default behavior).
I'll seen a couple of other posts like this on the forum, but unfortunately no answers.  How can I *completely* uninstall Office 2010 (including SharePoint Workspace 2010 and the Office 2010 tools) during the upgrade to Office 2013?  This
corporation doesn't need SharePoint Workspace 2010; my guess is that it was included by default with the Office 2010 package that they rolled out in the past.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
By default, the uninstall option in Office Customization Tool (OCT) will not remove SharePoint Workspace 2010 as SharePoint Workspace is no longer include in Office 2013.
Try to create a separate Office 2010 .msp file, set Microsoft SharePoint Workspace and Office Tools to "Not Available" and deploy it
prior to the installation of Office 2013.
Or you can do an Uninstall upgrade. Basically, use the /uninstall [ProductID] command-line option to uninstall Office 2010 from the user's computer first and then after that is finished, install Office 2013.
Here is a great example of how to perform an uninstall-upgrade for enterprise deployments :
http://blogs.technet.com/b/odsupport/archive/2011/04/06/how-to-perform-an-uninstall-upgrade-to-office-2010.aspx (Note, the steps are wrriten for Office 2010, but it holds good for Office 2013.)
