Welcome to the discussions,
You can sync your calendar and contacts to more than one computer, quoted from this thread and posted by DaVBMan : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10706918&#10706918
You CAN sync data (contacts, calendar, etc) with multiple computers.
You just cannot sync media (music, movies, apps, etc) with more than one computer.
It is best if you go into preferences in iTunes and turn off Automatic Sync so it doesn't try to sync when you plug in.
Then on the one you don't sync media with uncheck the boxes that say you want to sync music, movies, etc. Just leave the checks on for Address book syncing.
But before you start, don't forget to back up. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Good luck

  • Why can't apple let us sync two computers over bluetooth?

I am extremely annoyed that mac won't let you sync two computers via bluetooth, when you can easily do it with phones and pdas. It seems to me that it takes the exact same technology to do so, and the only reason mac does not let you sync two computers is that they want to force you to pay $100 for a .mac account. Very Microsoft-like of them. Apple advertises that you can do this function as part of the OSX, but fails to mention it requires additional cost. I hope they provide this in the future.
I've heard a new program, spanning sync, may work, but that is just for your calendar.

    1) Apple always advertised its computer to computer sync'ing as ".Mac sync" (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/dotmacsync/) so I don't see where they "fail to mention it requires .mac" or put that "in the small print no one reads"
    2) Peer-to-peer sync'ing leverages many conceptual problems that sync'ing with a central server does not have. It takes a lot of effort to have proper, reliable, secure, yet simple-to-use peer-to-peer sync'ing. It becomes even worse when more than 2 peers are involved, and becomes a total nightmare when there can be cycles in the sync'ing swarm. Apple took the simpler, reliable approach. Of course, Apple can put money to provide some peer-to-peer solution but it's likely not worth the money yet for Apple.
    3) Third parties can provide peer-to-peer sync'ing in no time (if it were that simple) since Tiger, thanks to Sync Services... yet there isn't many solutions out-there... however, maybe you should take a look on VersionTracker. You might find what you want:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/index.shtml
Remember... sync'ing is never that simple.

  • Syncing two computers via network session

    hi
this topic started out in another thread, really should have it's own though...
so i want to sync two computers via a "network session".
one is a G4 (dual 800 running logic pro 7.2.2) the other is my macbook pro running logic pro 6.4.2.
basically all i am using the macbook for is to playback a quicktime movie...
now i have successfully got the network session going in "Audio Midi Setup", but for the life of me can't get the logic on the macbook pro to slave up. even though mtc is set up and the logic 7.2.2 is set up to send mtc via the network session.
if anyone has any ideas...please feel free...
    cheers, warner

    really?
    cool.
have been researching this a little bit (not that i have the time - just got curious).
there are a couple of relaly interesting apps out there that can take MTC and play video. one in particular was very interesting....check this out:

  • Sync two computers with one documents folder?

This is a question re: a imac and a powerbook.
I am looking for a product that can update the most recently edited files in my documents folder on both computers automatically...
Often, I use the laptop remotely and need updates to the desk top and vise versa so that the folder being duplicated is a mirror on each machine...
Is this a possibility with some product currently on the market, two computers one set of folders?
Optimally I would like it to happen automaticall but a wired version would be OK too...
When machines are tethered the more recent folders update on either machine.

    Hi Elin,
Here's a Dropbox tutorial which keeps two Macs synced: http://thenextweb.com/apps/2011/09/21/how-to-use-dropbox-to-sync-your-documents- folder-between-macs-for-free/
What's not clear is if it will allow you to disconnect the two Macs and then sync after reconnecting them.
iCloud is something else to consider.

  • How to sync two computers to a iPhone 4

I have two computers. In my home computer (iTunes) I have all my music.  In my office computer I have Outlook and all contacts, notes and tasks.  How do I sync both contents to my iPhone 4?

Is your Outlook based on Exchange?  if so, just setup an Exchange account on the phone.

You can share files via Airdrop. Not sure if that's what you're really looking for pertaining to a way within the Mac OS.

  • HT1495 can you sync two computers to one ipad?

We just got an ipad for traveling and have two home computers, mine and my husbands. Can we synd them both to the ipad for our trip? Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

No you cannot sync with two computers. "Sync" being the key word. You can use an iPad with multiple computers for the purposes of transferring music.
You can read more about it here.

  • Syncing two computers with same short name

Hi folks, esp. Dancing Brook ,
So, I have a computer at work, a laptop at home, and a Palm PDA. Since both computers are mine, they have the same short name. I only make iCal entries on my work computer (plus anything that I enter in my PDA, of course), but like to have the latest iCal data on my laptop too. Here's my question:
I only have iCal on my laptop for the convenience and as an extra backup. Since, however, it shares the same short name as my work computer, do I have to worry about sync issues? E.g., if my laptop iCal has old data, could it overwrite the new data if I sync it after I sync my work computer?
I've read that changing the short name of your computer isn't a great idea, FWIW.
    Thanks,
    PL

Don't know. Wouldn't think it would be a problem as it is too likely to happen (ie same name on both computers). But you could setup a new account with a new name on the laptop if you don't want to experiment. I would just backup and experiment, or set up two new users, one on each computer along with a trial .Mac account.

  • Syncing two computers to play music at the same time

    hi!
i have two imacs in my house one upstairs and one downstairs is there a way to sync them together with bluetooth so that if i play music it comes out through the speakers on both computers?

Temporarily, move the AirPort Express to the same room as the Time Capsule and power it up for a few minutes.
Then, hold in the reset button on the Express for 10-12 second and release. Allow a full minute for the AirPort Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
I have seen some bugs already with OS X 10.9.3, so we will have to see what happens on your end.
On your Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click on Other WiFi Devices
    Click on AirPort Express
The setup utility will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network and then suggest that the Express will be configured to "extend" the Time Capsule wireless network.
Enter a device name that you want to use to identify the Expess and clck Next
The utility will set up everything for you. When you see the message of Setup Complete and you see a green light on the Expess, click Done.
Now move the Express to a location where it can pick up a strong signal from the Time Capsule. It should be no more than half way to two thirds the distance between the Time Capsule and upstairs location where you want more coverage.  You may need to experiment a bit with the location of the Express for best results.

  • Syncing two computers to a dual account setup on a third computer

We have 3 computers, with the third being used with dual accounts when we travel. Is it possible to sync one computer with my account on the 3rd, and then sync the 2nd computer with the other account on the 3rd?
    Hope this makes sense!

I think so. I have two accounts on the same computer syncing with others (and themselves). I had to set up both independently, so I'm pretty sure that the fact that they were syncing with the same profile is not relevant.

  • Syncing Two Computers to 1 iPod

I just got a new 80GB vieo iPod, imported my library from my mini and synced it to my TiBook at home...no problem. Then I purchased a song on my TiBook and can't get it to synch with the iPod. I have both computers "authorized". Any ideas on how to sync it backwards onto the iPod?
This seems so simple, yet it's driving me nuts.

  • Wirelessly Syncing, Two Computers?

Wirelessly syncing suggests that I can sync with 2 computers because if you plug into both computers then it will remember that computer, although I cannot sync the music from 2 computers, only one. Why can I sync from both computers but only recieve music from one? In other words, can I have my Macbook Pro and my iMac both give music to my iPhone?

  • How to sync two computers with two different languages (english, german) without having entries like "Recently Bootmarked" in both languages?

On a PC i have Windows 7 in running in German, and Firefox also in german. My MacBook Pro is running in English, so Firefox also does.
When Firefox is syncing, both language phrases are synced. The English version adds "Recently Bootmarked" and "Recent Tags" ... the German Version adds "Kürzlich als Lesezeichen gesetzt" und "Kürzlich verwendete Schlagwörter". These entries are the same, only language sensitive.
    How can i fix this?

    Hi Carolyn,
    Thanks for this.
Do you think there is any way to get the content of the libraries onto one account?
Would home sharing work just to facilitate the movement of the tracks?
    Thanks again!
