  • Sync two folders with same pictures

Everytime i synce my pictures to my iphone it creates two folders of the exact same pictures one folder is called Photo Library and the other is Pictures which i named on my computer how do i get it so there is only one folder????Thanks

The reason is because you're syncing a folder that has a subdirectory called "Pictures." For each folder inside the one you're syncing it creates a seperate album. In addition, "Photo Library" contains all your photos in one single set.
In other words, if you want to avoid duplicates, do not have any subdirectories in your Photo folder. In your case, sync your phone to the "Pictures" folder and you should be fine.

  • Simple backup - sync two folders

I want to create a very simple backup process for a folder (with subfolders) to an identically named folder on an external drive.
Right now I am just copying the folder with automator - but it takes several minutes as it writes each and every files regardless of whether it is new or not..
Can I get it to sync the folders so that it only copies over new (or modified) files?
I did find an action to do this in the apple downloads but it required Leopard.
    thanks

    Hi Joseph,
Might try one of these instead...

  • How can I sync two folders? 10.5.8

I have folders of data from External Hard Drive, Mac Book and Flash Drive that I would like to sync easily. Look slike there is an app for Yosemite users. Is there anything that you know of that I can download and use?

You don't say which iMac variant you have. The pre-2006 iMacs in this forum cannot run any Mac OS higher than 10.5.8, so you are maxed if you have one of those. You can tell if you are in the right forum by doing  "About his Mac"from your Apple menu and looking at the entry for "processor."
If the processor type is "PowerPC" followed by "G3," G4," or "G5," you are at the max already, and in the right forum.
If it says "Intel" you have a newer Mac than this forum serves, but can run at least Mac OS 10.6.8 and likely higher. If so, you buy Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for US$29 and install it. If your processor allows you to run Lion 10.7, you can buy it from the App Sore within Snow Leopard. Note: if you use certain older program versions of non-Mac software like Office 2004, these will not run under Lion.
The forum for Intel iMacs is here:

  • How can i delete photos in a folder from my Iphone 4s.  when it was synced, the photos went to two folders and not to the camera roll

How can I delter photos in a folder from my Iphone 4s?  When I synced the new phone from the Itunes, the photos went to two folders and not the camera roll.

  • 5.1 update - Now I can't sync my music and it lost two folders of "spoken" category

5.1 update - Since updating I can't sync my music and it lost two folders of "spoken" category in music folder. Refuses to sync it though I see and can play it on my computer. Help! Any solutions?

I realize this is a dumb question, but as I said, I am not computer savvy.  After the download was complete, no pop-up box occurred prompting the install, so as you said, I clicked on start to try to search for the download of it.  What do I look for to find the download of the new itunes version?  I am embarrassed to be so dumb about this and appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

  • Can I sync my Camera roll to two folders

    Hi All,
What I am trying to do is to back up the photos I take with my iPhone 3G's camera to any folder, and have another folder, that contains other images, back up to my Photo Library on the iPhone so that I can have them when I am away from my Windows XP Pro computer.
Should these two folders, the one that back ups my images on the iPhone and the one that has all other photos be in the same folder structure?
    Thanks for any help
    Wassim

I am having the same problem. But in Image Capture my iPhone (iPhone 4 ios 5) will no longer show up as a device. It does not show up as a device in finder either. It does show up in iTunes, though. In anticipation of icloud and in an attempt to avoid having duplicate photos in my iPhoto (because I already had this problem syncing with iPhoto through USB), I deleted all my iPhone photos (and videos) off of my Macbook while keeping them on my iPhone; only to find out that iCloud will only sync new photos that I take after setting up iCloud.  So now I have no way of getting the photos and videos that I had captured prior to ios 5 and iCloud back on my Macbook.

  • I've downloaded a language course on to my iMac.  It is in two folders on the desktop.   There is no corresponding app, so how can I transfer it to the iPad ?

I've downloaded a language course on to my iMac  - where it sits on the desktop in two folders.    I want to transfer it to the iPad, but syncing doesn't work when I click the folder and then the sync button.     There is no app for this particular course.    The audio consists of a number of MP3 files.   How can I make it useable on the iPad ??

Launch iTunes on your computer and from the menu at the top go to File>Add to Library and then navigate to wherever the files are located on your desktop. Create a playlist in iTunes if you want to and then sync the playlist to the iPad. Play the files in the Music App on the iPad.

  • Trouble syncing Mail folders/subfolders

Hi to anyone who reads this.
Not sure where to turn for help right now. Apple Tech Support says this is a .Mac problem; .Mac says it's an Apple Tech Support issue. I'm in the inferno.
Like a lot of people, I download a lot of e-mails from the server and put them into folders and subfolders (and sometimes sub-subfolders). Some folders are important; others are not. It is critical that I have access to these important folders over the holidays when I'm not at my iMac. I have a .Mac account, so I should be able to do that. But when I try to sync, the folders don't show up (or...worse...only a few of them show up). For those of you who want to read on, please do.
I initially tried this sync with my folders about two months ago. It didn't work -- it wasn't critical to me then, so I didn't pursue it. What happened then was that I dragged the main folder(s) with several subfolders (and lots of e-mails) from where they sat in my mail program to below the globe icon for my .Mac account. The colorful ball whirled for quite a while. Then I went to the .Mac site, opened my mail and found only a few of the folders and subfolders had transferred. I was frustrated, but I stopped worrying about it.
Fast forward to today. I have a very strong need to have access to those e-mails while I'm away. I have tried to sync many times in the last day. Most recently, I have manually sync'd everything, so I know the sync works for my iCal and address book (although strangely, the automatic one looked like it worked, but it didn't). Nevertheless, the calendar and address books are completely up-to-date. I double-checked that the memory wasn't a problem. It's not. I even increased the storage allotment for mail to 700.
Trying everything I could think of, I went to the .Mac site, opened my folders, deleted the old (incompletely transferred and NEVER effectively synchronized despite autosyncing) folders from a few months ago and started over. (By the way, not that it matters, but the main folders under the globe icon are white, not blue, and the subs are blue...not sure what that means.) I have tried in many ways to get the folders I created in my Mail program to transfer to .Mac by placing them under the globe icon and then pressing the sync button. Nothing seems to work.
Help. Do you know what is wrong? Do you know what department at Mac should be helping me? What else do you need to know to help answer this one? I really need those e-mails -- far, far too many to resend to myself to put on the server over the holidays. Hundreds!! All very important for a conference I am planning.
Thanks so much!!! By the way, I'm a 10.4.3 user. I wish I could tell you whether this happened before or after the upgrade this fall, but honestly, I just don't remember.

the easiest is to use Migration Adssistant (it's in Applications/Utilities). It lets you transfer all your user settings, not just Mail. If you are interested in Mail ONLY, copy the entire folder /users/username/library/mail and the file /users/username/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. when you start Mail after that it will look just as it did on the old computer.
and once that is accomplished is there a way I can keep both mail accounts in sync?
if you use an IMAP email account, this is automatic. if you use POP, it's impossible.
I would like to be able to file or delete an email on one computer and have the same action take place on the other computer.

  • Best Way To Synchronize Two Folders Via FTP?

What's the best way to keep two folders in sync via FTP? Also, why is this site turning German? Will there still be a website in English?

sitecopy in AUR may be helpful (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=11319).  You may also want to look at conduit and multisync-gui in AUR.

I hear archlinux.de will be in English as a replacement...
    Thanks for that!
Also, I sure hope there will be an English site. There are many Germans who know English, but not many non-Germans know German. It was a stupid move to switch to German as an official language.

  • With Muti-clip gone from FCP X, is there a new way to sync two cameras with FCP X

With Muti-clip gone from FCP X, is there a new way to sync two cameras with FCP X

I film with two cameras then copy the files from each camera into their own folders. I then use ClipWrap to convert the MTS files into AIC.  If the recording was one long contiguous session, many cameras will split the MTS files into 2GB chunks.  ClipWrap will Convert Multiple to Span to reassemble them properly.  With the AIC .MOV file from ClipWrap, I then use FCP X to Import the MOV files from camera 1 and camera 2.  I prefer to do it that way versus using FCP X Import from Camera.  I then move the clip from camera 1 onto the timeline in the "primary storyline" (FCP X terminology).  I drag the camera 2 clip above the camera 1 clip and line up the audio from the two cameras while that audio is still attached to the video so everything stays in sync.  FCP X has a way to automatically sync two soundtracks, but I have not gotten around to that yet.  With camera 2's clip attached to camera 1's clip as a "connected clip" above the camera 1 video, I then do an edit to go between the cameras as seems best to me.  When the connected clip of camera 2 video sits above the camera 1 video, it will take priority over the camera 1 video.  I then split camera 1's video clip taking out sections when I want to go back to the camera 1 view. Of course I can trim camera 2's clips until I get it the way I want it.  Since FCP X uses the magnetic timeline concept, and camera 2's clip is "connected" to the camera 1 clip, as you split and trim camera 2's clip, everything will stay in sync across the two camera "tracks".  When there is no camera 2 video above the camera 1 video, camera 1 video will be seen.  When camera 2 video is above camera 1 video, camera 2 video will be seen instead.  With a single editing pass, I can then do all the editing I need to go back and forth between two cameras.  The same concept is expandable to other camera "tracks" as long as you are using vertical position in the timeline to determine which camera is seen when.  If you would like for it to look like a multi-camera track composit like before FCP X, you can simply select all your clips and make a compound clip out of it.  You will then see the multiple camera clips side by side in a single "track".  Double click on that "clip" in that "track" to go into the structure and editing individual "tracks" around if needed.  Think of a compound track as what a sequence used to do.  Anyway, there may be other, and easier ways to do this, but with a single edit through my recording, I can easily and visually cycle back and forth between camera views.  It's just that things are called differently now ... and, as of this time, we do not have a single button camera switching function to let us view multiple cameras simultaneously and switch between them using a keystroke for each camera.  Still, I have a way to do it, and it has worked very well for me, in fact I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I could do multi-camera in post.  Hope this at least gives you one option.  Others may have a better way.  Best wishes.

  • Can't sync two photo albums

    Hi,
I'm trying two sync to photo albums from my Windows 8 PC to my iPhone 6, I have two folders 'Jacob and 'Jacob2'.
I can sync either one perfectly fine but when I come to sync the 2nd folder it replaces the first one I synced.
In short, it's only letting me have one folder on my iPhone. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

Your help has been amazing guys, I don't know what I'd do without you all.

  • Syncing two mail accounts

    Hello,
Was wondering if it was possible to sync two email accounts (in essence, the main one I'm using, and to sync that to a backup account), either using Apple Mail or some other mac application. When I'm talking about syncing two email accounts, I don't mean the same email account on two different machines... I mean to sync the folders/contents of [email protected] to [email protected]
Obviously, I could do this manually by copying everything from email1 to email2, but we're talking about 100 folders totally 10+ GBs. These accounts are hosted on OS X Mail Server.

It looks like you didn’t transfer ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist, which is where all the account settings are stored.
That said, synchronization of local mail data between computers by means of a file synchronization utility is a really bad idea if more than one computer is allowed to access mail between synchronizations.
Mail uses a global Envelope Index file to keep track of every message within the ~/Library/Mail/ folder. If this file is modified on both computers between synchronizations, there is no way a file synchronization utility can handle the situation properly.
Another more subtle and dangerous issue is that Mail may use different *.emlx sequence numbers to name the same message on different computers, or worse yet, the same sequence number to name different messages. The only thing a file synchronization utility can do about it is create duplicates of some messages while overwriting (i.e. losing) others.
Mail data “synchronization” at the filesystem level can only be done reliably if it’s a one-way operation, i.e. if the entire contents of the Mail folder on one computer are overwritten by the entire contents of the Mail folder on the other. You should think of the ~/Library/Mail folder as if it was a monolithic entity.

  • Was wondering if it is possible to sync the folders in mac mail on my imac to my mac book pro rather than recreating them

was wondering if it is possible to sync the folders in mac mail on my imac to my mac book pro rather than recreating them

There are two standard protocols for receiving email, POP and IMAP. In the POP (Post Office Protocol) when messages are "read" by your email client (Mail) they are downloaded and stored on the reading computer and deleted from the POP server. When you are using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) the messages remain on the IMAP server until they are deleted. IMAP was created for exactly the situation you are trying to achieve. For example Apple's iCloud (formerly me.com, formerly mac.com) uses IMAP protocol. So whether I access my email on my Mac, my iPhone, my iPad, or via webmail I have access to all the files in all the various mailboxes automatically because they are all seeing and using the same online mailboxes. If I delete a message on any of the varioius devices it is deleted on all of the various devices.
Whether you can use IMAP protocol or not depends on your email host and whether they have an IMAP server or not. Many ISPs do not offer IMAP because they do not want to bear the expense of the additional disk space required to store the IMAP messages. As I mentioned before Apple's free email service is by default IMAP. Google Mail offers a somewhat non-standard IMAP service. It works with Apple's email client, Mail, but it is just a bit "different".
Personally I resisted using IMAP for years. Largely because I had always used POP and was comfortable with it. Once I got an iPhone and needed to synch my email between my computer and iPhone I realized IMAP was "the only way to go."

  • Sync two macs

    Hi all,
I have an intel imac and thinking of buying a macbook, is it possible to sync the two automatically so both machines are almost identical?
    Chris

I use ChronoSync, and it works very well. You would run it on one of your Macs. As long as the other Mac is accessible on the local network (wired or wireless), it will keep two folders in sync. The sync works both ways, so if you update a file on the iMac, that update gets synced to the MacBook. If you update a file on the MacBook, that update gets synced to the iMac. If you happen to update the same file on both Macs between a sync, ChronoSync asks which one you want to keep. The sync can take place manually, or on a defined schedule.
You can even use it between a Mac and an Windows PC.
