Sync VoiceMemos from iPhone to iTunes - Problem

Hello. New member here. I have an 8G 3GS iPhone which is getting close to maxing out on space. I have several lengthy voice memos on the phone (30-90 minutes), which I'd like to store on my Mac Mini / iTunes, however, I can't get them to Sync. The iPhone doesn't show up in Finder, so I can't move them that way either. I have called the Apple Tech Support line 3 times, but they were unable to help me (much to my dismay). I have also read several posts on various sites, but none of the instructions seem to work for me. I need to manually manage my music library on the phone because my iTunes libary on the Mac is ~350G. I have tried clicking sync only selected playlists and voicememos on the iTunes Music tab, but all it does is wipe out my phone's iTunes and does not move the voice memos to my Mac Mini. I have even tried deleting the VoiceMemos playlist on my iTunes in hopes that it would create a new one and transfer the files, but with no luck. Help!!!

hi. thanks for the suggestion. it's a consideration, but honestly, between the $1,000 and $300 I spent on the Mac Mini and iPhone, respectively, you'd think that the functionality which is supposed to be inherent in the devices would work! my understanding from other posts and from the apple support line is that this is possible, i just can't seem to get a straight answer on the correct settings to make it work. i'll keep looking. thx.

  • How do I sync voicememo from IPhone to itune?

It works the first time..but I don't know what I did wrong. I was deleting something because it kept transfering the old voicememo from itune to my IPhone. Now it doesn't sync any voicememos recorded on my IPhone or even the old ones I have to Itune. I already clicked "include voice memo", and it shows in playlist, but it doesn't show anything on voicemmo page. It doesn't show "voice memo" as playlist on music page either.
I would like to sync only the new voicememo recorded in my IPhone to Itune. Thanks

I know exactly what you're going through. I may win the prize for having the most number of photos on my iPhone (2,397) that couldn't get downloaded. I have never been able to export photos from my iPhone to any of my Macs using iPhoto or Image Capture. (And yes, all OS and apps are the latest revisions). Nor have any of the popular apps like Picasa2, Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Windows native Camera & Scanner Wizard been able to do it on my Windows machines. BUT, the only 3rd party app that I had any success with was the Tansee iPhone Transfer Photo program. It downloaded 884 photos from my iPhone before that app stopped working, for some reason. It cost $20USD and works on Windows only. You may have better luck than I downloading all your photos.

  • Syncing Apps from iPhone to iTunes with folder grouping

    Hi,
I have close to 200 apps on my iPhone structured into approx 50 folders.
These apps are downloaded firectly from iTunes (via wifi).
Now, i want to sync them to my PC via iTunes.
I used the option "Transfer purchases" for that.
But the folder are not synced.
If choose Sync App options, i am afraid i will loose all my folders and it will really time consuming to create them again.
How can get my folders and Apps from iPhone to iTunes ?
    Regards,
    Ashwani Kr Sharma

Apps are transferred automatically (most of the time, that is!) during the backup that runs prior to the sync (unless you've disabled backup)
If you are syncing your apps, you will see (in the app sync pane) a visual representative of your phone, all pages, and that includes the folders. You will not lose any of them.
Like ChrisJ4203 says, you need to be syncing to the same iTunes library as your Apple ID on your phone, and that iTunes library must be authorized by you.

  • Unable to sync calendar from iphone to itunes etc- message coming up

    Hi,
Since I did an upgrade of itunes on my phone I keep getting this error when trying to sync with my phone and itunes
"iTunes could not sync calendars to the iphone "iphone" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone."
Any advice on how I can sync would be helpful as it is difficult when things arent updated.
    Thanks

    I have the same problem.
After upgrading to latest iTunes I got an error saying "Itunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes". I fixed this by going into programs, found iTunes, right click and click repair (as detailed here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2775935&tstart=0 )
So now I have same problem, iTunes can not sync calendars to the iphone.
I only ever have problems like this after an upgrade. Very frustrating and time-wasting Apple!

  • How can i sync podcasts from iphone to itunes?

    Here's my situation:
I have an iPhone 5c that I have always synced with iTunes on a laptop that belonged to my workplace. But I have left that job now, and with it, I have left the laptop. I now want to sync that same iPhone 5c on my iMac at home. This iMac has an iTunes that has NO podcasts on it ...
But when I prepare to sync the phone in iTunes and I click the podcasts tab and check the "Sync Podcasts" checkbox, it asks if I want to delete all the podcasts on the iPhone. I definitely *don't* want to do this ... I want those podcasts on the iPhone to be part of my backup on the computer. Many of these podcasts are older and no longer available for download from their original sources.
Is there any way that I can achieve this? It's not like I paid for any of these podcasts -- it's all free content, so I'm not breaking any copyright issues here.
    Thanks for any help....

  • How do I sync music from iphone to itunes?

I lost all titles from itunes when I upgraded to the new itunes. Apple allowed me to download them again (thanks Apple). However, there is music on my phone from CDs uploaded prior to the loss of the titles. They exist on my phone but not in the pc. How do I sync music from the phone to the pc?  I miss the drag/drop method!
    K

You would have to use 3rd party programs. Try youtube, they would give you tutorials and the name of the program. There was one program I used but it deleted after I got all my music out my iphone.

  • Syncing apps FROM IPHONE TO ITUNES!!!

The Iphone allows you to download apps onto the phone __from the phone__ but I can't find how to sync those apps I bought via the phone with apps in my Itunes library...???!~!!! It appears as though I will loose those apps if I upgrade my software version.

And after transferring purchases from your iPhone and confirming all 3rd party apps on your iPhone are now in your iTunes library, select Sync Apps under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and make sure all apps currently installed on your iPhone are selected below. Select Apply.
Now after downloading an app direct with your iPhone, the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.

  • Syncing Apps from Iphone to Itunes and vice versa, quick question.

Hello, so I had a small question to ask about transferring apps from both the iphone to itunes.
Basically, I downloaded an app from the app store ON my iphone.
I've made a lot of progress and have a lot of data in this app.
The(Sync app) box was never checked on my itunes, so I transferred my purchases from my iphone to my itunes, and now i've downloaded a few more apps (over 20mb) ON itunes that I want to put on my iphone.
Thing is, when I click "sync apps" it gives me a warning saying something along the lines of "Apps in itunes will replace all in iphone, including data"
Now, i've already transferred my purchases, so all the apps from my phone are on itunes, but if I sync, will I lose the DATA in my apps on my iphone? Or will the data remain in those apps?
Basically, will syncing my apps replace my settings/data/progress of the apps I have on my iphone?

There is no data in the apps themselves. Your app data is stored in the backup file iTunes creates. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
From Page 179 of http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iphone_userguide.pdf, "You can reinstall an app and restore its data as long as you backed up iPhone with iTunes on your computer. (If you try to delete an app that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.) To retrieve the app data, you must restore iPhone from a backup containing the data."
So, make a backup before you click the "Sync apps button. Then, you may have to restore your phone from that backup to reload the data.

  • Syncing Apps from iPhone to iTunes and back

I've transferred my apps from the iPhone to iTunes by clicking on "Transfer Purchases" That's all good so now they both have the same apps.
I've installed the latest ver of iTunes so ultimately it allows us to re-arrange the pages of apps on the iPhone through iTunes.
When the checkbox "Sync Applications" is unchecked I can see my apps as arranged on the iPhone, when I check it everything is different. That's not what I want as it tells me my settings will be copied from iTunes to iPhone.
What I want is for it to recognise my latest apps setup on my iPhone and THEN allow me to re-arrange it from iTunes before syncing.
    How can I do this?
Extra info: This is for my MBP, I've synced it with my PC and I think that has the latest settings I'm not too sure.

As already mentioned, you can only sync to one computer at a time. To be able to go back to your computer, disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone and right click on it in the device list and choose Backup. Transfer your purchases the same way after that. Then sync your phone. All media content will be erased during this process, but you can restore your phone from the manual backup you made before. • Play position in audible audio books not syncing back from iPhone to iTunes

Hi everybody. I hope I don't open a redundant thread, but i couldn't find one that has this topic.
Anyway, I am syncing some audio books from audible to my iPhone. When i start playing them on the phone, the play position is in sync to the position in iTunes. Now let's say i listen one hour on the phone and then sync again.
Contrary to what i expected, the further advanced play position from the phone is NOT synced back to iTunes but the old position from iTunes is synced again to the phone. So the next time I access the audio book on the phone I start where i started in the first place.
Is this a bug or have I missed some setting wheresoever?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

I have seen others complain about it. For me I never listen via PC (only phone) so I haven't had an issue yet. Though I do when I stop listening look at the time and chapter/file I am at and go over to Notes and jot it down. Due to reboots or other issues, it has lost where I was but with my notes, I can quickly get back.

  • Sync photos from iphone to itunes

I am trying to sync/import photos from my iphone to my brand new mac.
Once connected between my mac and my iphone on itunes, i am checking the box to synchronise photos.
before proceeding, I get a warning message saying that the photos on my iphone will be deleted (i have approx 2'000 ones there) and replaced by the ones on my new mac (i have none there). I understand that I will lose all my pictures, properly organized, on my iphone.
I want to do exactly the opposite : import the photos and photo libraries from the iphone to the mac.
How can I do this with iTunes ?

Using iTunes to transfer photos from your computer to the iPhone is optional. You can import photos from your phone to a computer and not sync any photos to the phone via iTunes if desired. It does not overwrite photos taken on the phone and left on the phone.
Each time you sync (if you choose to sync photos at all) it will set the synced photos on the phone to match the current settings in iTunes (i.e., it will add any new photos from the folders/albums you have chosen to sync, it will delete previously synced photos if you change the settings to no longer sync some folders/albums).
I'm not sure what it is that you are trying to do but you may want to consider using iCloud Photo Library. It allows you to automatically have all of your photos on your Mac, on your iPhone, and on iCloud. No iTunes required, no usb cable importing required. More information:

  • HT1296 how do i sync contacts from iphone to itunes

Attempting to reset iphone, I need to save contacts to itunes account

You do not save them to iTunes. They are either saved as part of the backup, or they are synced to a supported application on the computer or to iCloud. Also, a reset on the phone will not affect data. You would not need to worry about saving anything, unless you are doing a restore, which will delete content from the phone.

  • How to sync things from Iphone to Itunes

Hi! i have a LOT of photos, contacts, calaendar things, notes and music and ringtones
How do i sync these things to itunes/my computer (I run windows 7).
How do I get my photos onto itunes? nd how do I get them arranged into albums?
How do I get my contacts into itunes? andhow do I back up my 'notes' and voice recordings?
And how do I email apple for advice?

How do i sync these things to itunes/my computer (I run windows 7).
Sync what things? Some data is transferred only via the iTunes sync process, and some data can by synced with a supported application on your computer such as with contacts, calendar events, notes, and Safari bookmarks. All options are available under the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
How do I get my photos onto itunes? nd how do I get them arranged into albums?
iTunes does not store photos. iTunes is used as the sync conduit between the supported application on your computer and your iPhone for contacts, calendar events, notes, and Safari bookmarks, and iTunes is used to transfer selected photos or selected folders/albums of photos from your computer to your iPhone.
Photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera, which is not done with iTunes. When there are photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer.
How do I get my contacts into itunes? andhow do I back up my 'notes' and voice recordings?
iTunes does not store contacts. As already provided, iTunes serves as the sync conduit between a supported application on your computer and your iPhone for syncing contacts. With Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with syncing calendar events and notes.
Your iPhone voice recordings can be transferred from your iPhone to your iTunes library on your computer via the iTunes sync/transfer process. This is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. An iTunes playlist will be created automatically when doing so which is named Voice Memos.
And how do I email apple for advice?
Apple doesn't provide support for the iPhone via email. You can visit these user to user discussions area which is provided and moderated by Apple to ask fellow users a question - there are some very knowledgable folks here. And Apple provides technical support documents here also.

Or you can call AppleCare for telephone support, or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
