Sync will not finish

when syncing my iphone, the syncing gets stuck on the final step, stating " waiting for data to load".

wifi has been fairly reliable for me (connected via "n" to an AEBS dual-band), although i am not syncing anything to the appletv, only streaming.
when i previously used a netgear router and the appletv was connected via "g", then yes it was pretty poor but that was probably more to do with the netgear router to be honest (and i gave up trying to use "g" and went to ethernet).

IPad syncing will not finish

My iPad will not finish syncing. It has been on step 7 of 7 for hours and still says "Waiting for items to copy". This has been a consistent problem for about a month... sometimes the final step is syncing music and sometimes photos or movies, regardless it seems like it alwasy stalls out on the final step of the syncing process. It's possible that It hasn't worked since moving to iOS 5 upgrade. It appears that everything is correctly moving from laptop to iPad... but I have to eject iPad to make it stop syncing and some of my apps are crashing too. Any ideas?

If you are syncing over WiFi - rather than ejecting the iPad - just try quitting iTunes if the sync will not finish. Restart your computer, and restart the iPad and see if that helps.
I had a similar problem and that is what worked for me.
The other thing that I have noticed - and maybe this is the wrong way to do this - but with WiFi syncing on my iPad - if I eject the device after the sync - iTunes does not want to recognize the device again when I relaunch iTunes. If I just quit iTunes after I sync, I have no problems with my iPad being recognized in iTunes when I launch it again.

Syncing will not finish

I am trying to sync my phone, newly upgraded to OS 4.2.1, and it will not finish syncing. iTunes states "finishing sync" and phone states "sync in progress" but it never finishes. Finally I just disconnect phone, but each time I connect phone to iTunes it does the same thing.

If you use CA Antivirus and Windows XP, then it is LIKELY CONFLICTING.
The solution that I was given that worked for me is:
Development are currently working on a fix for this issue, in the mean time, the following is a tech support work around which will get you up and running again. This change involves disabling the content filtering component of the firewall.
1. Click on start and in the RUN box type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
2. In the device manager click on the menu view and click on "show hidden devices".
3. Now in the device manager list look for "Non Plug n Play drivers" and expand it.
4. Under non plug n play drivers look for KmxCF and double click on it and in the KmxCF properties window click on the tab driver and change the startup type to "Disable"
5. close the device manager and restart your computer.

Ipad will not finish sync itunes 11.1.3

I have iOs 7.0.4 and Itunes 11.1,3,8 and the sync will not finish - it gets hung up on the " waiting for items to copy" function and will not seem to finish. Any suggestions are welcome. Apple really needs to get a handle on this problem, it seems to be chronic with this version of iTunes.

And yet many are having no problem at all.
If you are syncing wireless, try synching connected with cable, or visa versa.
If iCloud is set up properly it does not create conflict unless given conflicting instructions. The content in iCloud depends on your Apple ID.   You must use one as iCloud can only sync to one account at a time.   If you have books purchased on more than one ID, you must authorize them on your iTunes accounts get them to sync.
Check the settings in iTunes on the computer.   Turn off auto sync in preferences.   Highlight the device and bring up summary page.   Go through each page and make sure boxes are checked for any content you want added.

IBooks have been a pain.   Only solution I found was to delete all books, then select and sync books back on to the device.
If you find significant bugs in operation.
First try.....reset all settings
If that fails to help....Backup to computer (not the cloud)   Restore to factory.   Restore from backup

It was telling you that you needed Mac OS 10.6.8 or later, not itunes 10.6.8

I have been to the apple store and checked with my internet provider and my security provider and my itouch still will not finish syncing.
After trying for several minutes it freezes my computer.

They said everything looks like it should work. They uninstalled all components and reinstalled them in order according to your web instructions and it didn't make any difference.

Nevermind, tried a different cable and it started working. There is no visible signed of damage on the cable and very odd timing on when it failed.

The memory you exhausted may not be on your iPad. It might be in iTunes (your computer) or iCloud.

Installed latest versions of itunes and iphone (5S). Sync starts, but will not finish. Stuck for two hours + on "Finishing sync".
Turned phone off and back on. Rebooted windows 8.1. No effect. Same problem.

Iphone 4S automatically updates my apps. Open Table will not finish installing a new update. It will not let me delete the app (and there are no restrictions on in settings). I cannot open the app. I have no idea how to get it to finish the update. I have the latest IOS on my iPhone. Help! I love Open Table and want to be able to access it.

If you can't update from the phone itself, please try updating the app on your computer and sync it from there.

I also have the Mcaffe security centre so on the face of it we have very similar situations and I had not problems.
You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:

And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts.
