Sync with Entourage

I use Entourage as my contact management application and a key factor in buying my iPhone was the claim that it synced with Entourage. But the calendars don't work at all. In syncing, the process hangs up on the calendering function for hours, then shows no data on the phone itself. Any suggestions? I suspect the main problem is the very weak iCal program required as part of the process. Very immature program.

Hey Dave,
First verify Entourage has been updated and the steps needed to sync have been taken.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305938
Then reset the Sync History in the iSync aplication as described here.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iSync/2.0/en/isc39.html
Lastly, Did you modify or install any applications that may have altered the SyncServices folder?

  • How to clear all details in iCal before syncing with Entourage?

Deary me! I have been back and forth to iCal and Entourage trying to find which would be best. I have decided that Entourage will suffice - although not perfect by any means. In the meantime I have completely jammed up my iCal and daren't not try syncing Entourage yet otherwise I will never understand it and my iphone will be full of toot! Anyone know how to clear all details in iCal before syncing with Entourage? (Happy Sundays!!)

Answer .... delete all calendars in iCal but leave the Entourage one there! Don't delete that as there will be big trouble!

  • Problems Syncing with Entourage!!!

I used to have a t-mobile MDA, and I switched to an iPhone in September because I was told that it would sync with Entourage on my iMac (unlike the MDA). At first, it worked fine, but now it's a complete mess. My entourage calendar is completely fine, but then as soon as iCal opens up to sync, it makes duplicates (or even quadruplicates) of all day events, resurects deleted appointments from the dead, changes times on appointments, and sometimes, completely deletes everything. It then dumps all this back into entourage (or deletes everything from entourage), overriding the sync settings even when I have it set not to sync the two programs at all. I have spent hours on the phone with apple, and hours at the genius bar. we've updated everything, installed patches, and completely reinstalled the operating system, iCal, and sync services. Can anyone help? I desperately need the calendaring to work, or else that was 400$ down the drain to switch to the iPhone. Will upgrading to Leopard fix the problem?

    applenewbie821,
Entourage syncs with SyncServices, and the data is read from there by iTunes.
iTunes 7.3 and later also include SyncServices as a middle place for syncing with Outlook. The data is read from Outlook's PST file into SyncServices, and updated from Syncservices into the PST file. Then iTunes reads it from SyncServices, and updates it back to SyncServices. Since iTunes is the only thing that uses SyncServices, the option to "Reset Sync History" shows up in iTunes preferences on a Windows-based PC.
Entourage needs to be 11.3.5 or later. If you have Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac, then the update is free download from Microsoft. If you are using Office .X, you will need Office 2004 for Mac. if you have 11.3.5 or later you will have a SyncServices option in Entourage. Entourage will send the data to SyncServices, and read updated data from SyncServices. Then iTunes read it from SyncServices, and updates it back to SyncServices. .Mac, Entourage, iDisk, iSync, and many others use SyncServices. iSync is the front end for reseting Sync History.
iCal and Address Book also read from SyncServices and will show the same data.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Not syncing with Entourage

Lately when I delete an email from Entourage on my desktop, it remains on my iPhone until I manually delete it. This just started happening -- when I first set up the phone to sync with Entourage and Mac Mail, when I would delete an email it would disappear off the phone immediately.
I just restarted my phone and it seemed to go back to working normally. Is this just something that happens from time to time, and restarting is the key? Or is there something I can do to avoid having to delete the same emails twice? It would appear that everything is set correctly in the preferences of both the iPhone and Entourage, so maybe this is just a one-time glitch.
    Any thoughts? Anyone?

    Hi:
In case anyone is interested in how i resolved this issue:
i decided to check the veracity of the Entourage database by verifying and repairing the database, even though Entourage was otherwise behaving well. The verification resulted in some found issues, and the repairing took the database from being 5.9GB to about 3.5GB, which was interesting. I then toggled off and back on again the sync services to iCal, whereupon iCal became re-populated with my calendar data.

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I would suggest following this tutorial so you can setup your sync with Entourage.

  • Contacts sync with Entourage

Since I downloaded the latest iPhone update the next time I connected to sync all the contacts with Entourage they were removed. If I add in a new contact it does sync. On the iPhone (iTunes) Tab Info there is no option to select groups which I believe was originally shown as is still shown for Calendars. Any thoughts??? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. Entourage contacts will not sync to iPhone lost everything on iPhone. The itunes option to sync with Entourage 2004 is gone?

  • Doesn't seem to sync with Entourage or .mac, no calendar list

I use Entourage. It's set up to sync with .mac and iCal. My Entourage calendar shows up fine on my iPhone. In my iCal, it only shows a few of the Entourage entries and doesn't show anything in the calendar list. iTunes, sync properties for the iPhone show 3 calendars, Entourage, @Work, @Home. If I add something to iCal, it doesn't make it to Entourage. On the right it shows it's the Entourage calendar and publishes on .mac whenever there is a change. When I first bring up iCal, it shows nothing until I change the view to a different Day, Week, or Month. iCal seems to be very disconnected for some reason.

Any solution on this problem? I'm experiencing the exact same problem on our 2 GHz iMac Core 2 Duo.

  • Sync with Entourage 2004

I am trying to sync my BB Bold with Entourage 2004. First I used pocketmac which was just about useless as it would either not complete the sync or make duplicate entries in both calendar and contacts. I have tried Missing Sync and while the sync always finishes it does makes duplicate entires on the device. I have totally cleaned up Entourage so there are no dups on the desktop. Can anyone suggest how I can successfully sync the Bold to Entourage ?? Thanks

The push descriptor indicates that your machine is trying to push—or, send—data to an Unfiled calendar that does not exist elsewhere. 'Elsewhere' could be in the truth database on that machine, at .Mac or on another synchronized machine.
It's clearly not on your local machine in iCal anymore. If you reset the truth database by using the Reset Sync History… option in iCal, it should no longer be present on .Mac, if you subsequently synchronized. If you opted instead to Reset Sync Data and pushed records from .Mac to your machine, it is likely that it once again resides in your copy of iCal. If you opted to Reset Sync Data and pushed records from .Mac to your machine, it will not be present in iCal.
The most reasonable explanation, given what you have described and the error dialog you printed, is that this Unfiled Calendar exists on another synchronized Macintosh. If that is the case, you must also delete it from the copy of iCal on that machine.
If you don't have another synchronized machine in your pool, I can give you a terminal command that will completely obliterate your truth database and require that you start all over again, reregistering all of your clients—including Entourage—and starting all over.
You should, by the way, disable Entourage synchronization to isolate it and temporarily simplify your synchronization pool, until you have resolved this issue. Do not simply delete the Entourage calendar from iCal, for that will result in the deletion of matching records in Entourage itself during the next synchronization event.

  • Palm IIIc - Trying to sync with Entourage on a G5 Tower

I am certain this issue has probably been ansewered in the past, but I would like to know the process I must follow in order to sync my Palm IIIc with my Entourage contact list.
Also, I would like to know how to send programs down the line to this device.
I tried to use the instructions I was directed to by Palm's web site. But, I keep getting the following dialog box:
    Application Launch Failure
The application "HotSync Manager" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "4<HotSync Manager><HotSync Manager><HotSyncLib.PPC>"
I used to use this device with my old G3 iMac. I bought the USB kit so I could use it then and it worked like a champ. It has not been used in a few years. I took it out the other day and thought I would use it again. But, this problem has me perplexed.
I am running Tiger (OS X ver. 10.4.3) on my G5 (single CPU 1.8GHz "late 2004") with 1.25 GB of RAM.
I probably need to update the OS version on the Palm IIIc. But, until I can get the communications working, that is academic.
If someone who has lots of experience with syncing devices like this could provide me with a sequence of events I must follow in order to make this work, I would really appreciate it.
Like I said earlier, I would like to be able to sync my Entourage contact list and appointment schedule with this device. Also, I would like to be able to download Palm software from my G5 to the handheld.
    Thanks!

    I had Entourage configured incorrectly.

  • BB not syncing with Entourage

My bb is not syncing to Entourage - however ical and entourage are speaking when I create a new evert they go in both calendars.
Any solotions, Ive been to Mac, MS and BB support and no one can give me and answer.
    Regards,
    B

I think I'm having similar trouble. Just downloaded new Mac Desktop Software to be able to sync BB Curve 8330 with MacBook Pro and updated phone software also. Every time try to sync get error with no message or code on Calendar and Address sync "A sync error occurred. Please retry the sync." .... then puts a green checkmark like worked fine but have no addresses or calendar events transferred. Simply transferring from iCal and Mac's Address Book... very frustrating! Was using PocketMac but it wasn't syncing over newly-added contacts for some reason and was goofing my computer's calendar all up. Why can't things be easy and just WORK?
    Would like advice also please!!!!!!!!
    Thank you!

  • IPhone calendar changes not syncing with Entourage 2008 Calendar

    Problem:
    Entourage-->iCal-->iPhone works
    iPhone-->iCal works
But if I create a calendar event in the iPhone, it will sync to iCal, but will not show up in Entourage.
To effectively get your i-phone sync working with Entourage and Mobile Me with Snow Leopard:
    1. Switch off all syncing on i-cal and entourage.
    2. Back up Entourage main identity to your desk top (you may need to import the data later) - Go to File / Export / select Items to an Entourage Archive/ all items / Do not delete items on Entrouage / save to desktop. Close Entourage.
    3. launch iCal and delete all the calendars - if this is the only cal create a calendar and call it whatever say temp and then delete the Ent cal
    4. Launch Entourage go to prefs sync serv turn on Calendar sync and choose combine - this will create a new Entourage cal in iCal
-delete the temp cal in Ent if you made it
-If you loose your calendar or contacts in Entourage go to import data and select the back up you made earlier.
    5. turn on syncing in i-cal
    6. Switch off your i-phone and then switch it back on.
    7. Do a test in i-phone and it should work!

I had the same problem, and then all my calendars stopped syncing either way. They picked a beautiful time to do it, too... right as I was leaving on a business/pleasure vacation where I was making on the fly appointments. grumble
However, I fixed it tonight. Here is what I did.
    1. Back up (export) all your iCal calendars. (not just good practice, you'll need them later) Make sure iCal is closed.
    2. under ~/Library/Application Support/iCal delete everything.
    3. under ~/Library/Calendars delete everything
    4. Sync your phone.
At this point you should have your phone overwriting everything in iCal. If your problem is ONLY syncing from phone to iCal you should be good to go, if you can't sync either way, you'll need to:
    5. Drag all your backed up calendars back to iCal. In theory they will sort themselves out, but you might have some duplicates between stuff you've created on your phone and in iCal.
I don't know if this will keep the problem from occurring again, but at the very least, I was able to test out my ability to create events on either side, and it works.
I kept hoping that the last iPhone update would solve this for me, alas!

  • Sync with Entourage? Help anyone?

I need to sync my iPhone with Entourage. Does anyone now any app or trick? THX J

Since the latest iPod Touch/iPhone update has occurred, my Entourage Calendar is no longer being kept in sync with my iPod Touch. I've tried everything, and examined every setting to no avail. I used to love getting a reminder on my Touch, or even being able to look at my calendar on my Touch to see what's coming up. Now when I look at the iPod Touch calendar it's empty. It seems to be a change that Apple made because I had no trouble syncing Entourage before the latest iPod Touch firmware. It seemed to break the calendar syncing.
Previously, I have experienced lots of trouble with Entourage. Here are two things that have happened:
    - Duplicate calendar entries for some unknown reason.
    - Calendar entries that were posted as 1-day event such as birthdays were changed from 12 midnight to 11:59 PM to 11 PM on the previous day screwing up every single birth date in my entire Calendar.
I'm not very pleased with Entourage, but finding another piece of mail software for the Mac that looks after the calendar and contacts hasn't been fun. Apple Mail is nice but it's lacking features.

  • Iphone Sync with Entourage

Just started playing with the phone and so far it looks great. My contacts and Calender are in Entourage and I know the phone is suppose to sync with it, but it is not a choice within the itunes menu...any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You're certainly correct, but users familiar with Entourage and synchronization have been aware of this for quite some time. Although I understand why you might choose to stay with Office X—and an older release of Entourage—expecting an iPhone to work with Entourage X is somewhat akin to expecting an iPhone to work with Mac OS X 10.3, because a users other applications and devices do.
In fairness to you and others, I believe that Apple should have explicitly stated the minimum requirements for Entourage to interact with an iPhone, and not simply referred to it in generic terms.

  • ICal won't sync with Entourage!!!!!!!!!

    Hi
I have a new iPod nano and was trying to sync my calendar.
To be clear iCal is NOT my main calendar, Entourage is but I have to sync Entourage to iCal in order to sync my calendar to iPod.
Well I have done this and if I press sync then iCal gets populated BUT when I close iCal it loses all the meetings!!!!!!!
I have to re-sync every time, and when I open iCal it is empty EVERY TIME.
One thing I have noticed is that there are no calendars in the left hand pane and I cannot add any!
Any thoughts or ideas out there please people?
    Cheers.
    Robin
PS I did have this under another title but a kind poster pointed out I may get better luck with this title rather than the one I had.

    Hi Robin
I got my iCal and Entourage to sync by going in to Entourage preferences and choosing the Sync Services section. Choose which option you want (I chose to merge data). Once this is done, you should be able to view both calendars within iCal. The sweet thing is that if you update your work calendar, in either program, it shows up in the other one within about 30 seconds.
    Hope this helps!
