Sync with Linkedin?

I'd like to get all the avatar photos for my hundred + contacts in linkedin dropped into my apple address book. Any ideas?
PS> Yes, I know I should probably post this on some linkedin forum, but those places usually reply with windoze flamebait. Anyway, I was hoping my friends, the Apple experts, may have done this (or wanted to) already.
Thanks in advance!

  • Iphone takes LONG time to sync with iTunes?

    Hi all,
I have and Iphone 3G with 8GB pretty much stuffed, I have only 200MB free and 1000 audio, 50 podcast video, 60 photo and TONS of apps..
I just check how long it would take to sync with my PC yeasterday... 10 hours... is that normal for a backup and sync? how can I speed up the process?
    thanks

I'm having the same problem. It's definitely the backup portion. I located my backup folder, and it had over 20k files! I tried deleting the folder and backing up again, and have yet to complete a full backup (they're just too long - I'm constantly having to stop the process to take the phone with me). The latest one was 2 hours and only half done (with 8k files in the folder). I did have facebook and linkedin on the phone, so I've removed those and restarted the backup. It doesn't seem much different so far, but I think I may leave it overnight to see what happens. Could it be that the files (like caches or whatever) used by facebook and linkedin are still on the iphone even w/o the apps? How can I clean up my iphone w/o resetting it completely (I don't want to lose the data on there and I don't currently have a complete backup - though maybe after tonight I will).
Any other apps you know of that have this issue? I can't believe Apple just lets this type of sloppy file management occur.

  • Bug in webOS sync with Google

When syncing with Google Contacts, I just noticed a bug:
When importing "Title" and "Company" fields, webOS is incorrectly converting the first letters of EVERY word to capitals in both fields.  While this may SEEM correct, it is not and can have undesired effects:
    Example:
Company: "Bellevue Supports and Services Center" (as entered into Google Contacts on their web site)
becomes: "Bellevue Supports And Services Center" (in webOS after syncing)
Title: "Food and Nutrition Services Manager" (as entered into Google Contacts on their web site)
becomes:  "Food And Nutrition Services Manager" (in webOS after syncing)
Separately, many fields supported on both Google Contacts and webOS ("Spouse," for example) are not being synced.   This is a separate issue from above and should be corrected as well.  I would guess that the same thing needs to be investigated on Yahoo and other services synced with webOS. Someone at Palm should go through each field on supported sync services (Google, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc) and verify that all are properly linked to the corresponding webOS fields.
I realize these are two SEPARATE issues, but thought I'd combine them into one posting.
    Thanks.

I have not noticed the first issue, but I agree that the second issue is a big problem and should be addressed.  I raised this in an earlier thread and someone responded that Palm was aware of it but does not know when/ if it will be addressed:
    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=Synergy&message.id=6910#M6910
I'd also like to be able to move/transfer contacts from one account to another in the same way we can in the Calendar application (i.e., but moving an entry from Palm Profile to Google, for example), but currently we cannot do that -- the only option is to re-enter it under the new account.  Very annoying.

  • I am trying to put the music from my ipod onto my new computer. After installing itunes and connecting my ipod touch a message comes up saying that my ipod is already synced with another library. What can I do to sync it with a new library?

I recently got a new computer and got rid of my old one. I am trying to put the music from my ipod touch onto my new computer but keep getting a message saying that my ipod is already synced with a library and cannot be synced with more than one. How do I access that library on my new computer and if I can't are their other ways for me to put the music on my ipod into my new computer?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

You cannot use ActiveSync for that, but there are SharePoint clients for the iPhone. Windows Mobile 7 natively supports SharePoint with SharePoint Workspace Mobile, part of Microsoft Office Mobile. Android and BlackBerry might also have some apps.

  • My Outlook/iCloud calendar invites to others appear to work on my end and sync with my PC and mobile, but when other people "accept" the invite, it will not populate/add in to their calendar. How can i fix this without turning off iCloud?

My Outlook/iCloud calendar invites to others appear to work on my end and sync with my PC and mobile, but when other people "accept" the invite, it will not populate/add in to their calendar. How can I fix this without turning off iCloud?
I am at a new office that uses Outlook (not Outlook Exchange) which does not sync with my mobile... I just got iCloud set up on my PC to sync my contacts, calendar, reminders, etc... The sync worked (not without flaws, but the other issues seem solvable... I think), so that i can now see all my appointments on both my phone and on my PC. The problem I am having is that iCloud moved all of my calendar items from Outlook into iCloud calendar and now when I send out meeting/calendar invites the recipients may accept them, but the meeting does not get added to their calendar. This is a huge problem and may mean that i need to turn off iCloud.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks!

I am replying to my own post here as I seem to have fixed the problem.
I do have some calendars that are shared. Some of those are shared with users who have time zone support turned on. So i activated time zone support on my iphone, then deleted my icloud subscription. I then signed in to icloud again and voila... problem solved.
It is a weird one as the other calendar views were always fine and when you opened an event that appeared in the wrong day (on list view), the correct date of the event was shown in the information...
one more bug in a complicated system I guess

  • Why does my ical on my ipod touch not sync with my ical on my desktop if I put in an event on the ipod calendar?

Why does my ical on my ipod touch not sync with my ical on my desktop imac ical?
It will if I put it in on my desktop though.
    Please help,

Probably because you did not tell the iPod to sync the calendar in iTunes.

  • Looking for a notetaking app that syncs with PC

I use playbook for mobility but PC for work.  I am looking for a (simple) note taking app that will allow me to sync with PC - preferably via dropbox. I used to use cintanotes on PC but that doesn't sync to PB.  Looked at Evernote but seems bloated and some adverse reviews.  Some others exist by seem to have issues also - eg Simplenotes.  Anyone out there found a good working solution?

  • My 2nd gen IPOD touch will no longer sync with itunes.

My 2nd gen IPOD touch will no longer sync with itunes.  it tells me it cannot read the contents of the ipod then it says the ipod software server cannot be contacted.  Any suggestions?

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem
    Then try restoring again.

  • Ipod Touch 4g will no longer sync with iTunes - help!!!

I have an iPod Touch 4 and am using the latest version of iTunes 11.0.2.26 but can no longer get my ipod to sync with itunes.  When I click on Sync I get the message 'waiting for changes to be applied' then 'finished' but it does not sync.  I have completely restored my ipod and have uninstalled iTunes, Apple Update, Quicktime, Bonjour, Apple Mobile Device Support before reinstalling iTunes.  All my music in iTunes is from my own library rather than purchased from iTunes.  It all used to work fine and I feel I've exhausted all my knowledge in fixing this and need some assistance.  Can anyone help?

Seems like you've tried the most important steps in troubleshooting, so that's good.
What I'm wondering is: when you deinstalled iTunes and all those other things, did you do it in a specific order, according to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 for windows Vista/windows 7 or http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925  for windows XP  ? I don't see Apple Application Support in the list of components you deleted. I would recommend removing everything again in the specific order using the article you need and trying again to sync.
Also: try creating another user account on your computer and syncing again, because sometimes software issues are user-wide.
hope this helps, keep me posted

  • My Ipod Classic will no longer sync with my MAC.

The message says that for it to sync with the new library, it will have to remove the old one. I don't want to loose my songs, and don't know what to do! It shows that I've purchased the songs on my itunes library, but it doesn't show on my ipod classic!

Syncing is iTunes keeping your iTunes library (or a defined portion of the iTunes library) "in sync" (the same as) the library on your iPod.  And iTunes syncing of content generally goes in one direction only, from iTunes library on computer to the iPod.  That's why, if you want to sync it to a NEW iTunes library, iTunes is warning you that the existing library on the iPod will be replaced.
So, you cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library.  Once your iTunes library is consolidated with ALL of your songs, you can sync your iPod to it.
NOTE:  If you have songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store on the iPod, you can re-download them at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.  The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS.

  • IPod Nano Sync with Mac, but iPod formatted for Windows

I finally changed to the Mac platform and all my iPods and iPhones were synced with a Windows based computer. While my iPhones were not a problem, my iPod Nano (4GB 2nd generation) seemed not be recognized by my iMac.
I can't seem to get my iMac to show the iPod under Devices to reformat it. Anyone have any advice to give?
I have plugged it in to a my Windows based work laptop and it seems to work fine. However I don't sync with that machine and I have already sold my old Windows based computer it was synced to.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have three iPods: 40GB iPod photo, 2GB black iPod nano and 1GB iPod shuffle. Each one has it's own playlist to auto sync songs from (technically, the 40GB iPod is synchronized manually, but the other two have playlists to sync automatically from). They each have different names so iTunes knows they're each different. So, you shouldn't have any trouble keeping just two iPods separate with your Mac mini or iMac.
