Sync without album artwork

There is not enough space to sync my Ipod.  I had downloaded the album artwork and I believe that is what is taking up the space.  Can't figure out how to sync without the artwork or how to remove the artwork so my music will sync.  Any suggestions?

Hello bkmonkey1012,
The option to allow or disable the syncing artwork to your iPod was removed as of iTunes 9.  So now there is now way to not sync the artwork with your content unless you remove it from the content in iTunes.

  • ITunes will not sync all album artwork to my iPhone

Ever since I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5, some of my album artwork will not sync to my iPhone even though it's on my iMac. Songs that I have gotten from places other than iTunes, such as CDs, sync their album artwork to my iPhone without a problem. Songs that I have purchased from iTunes after updating my iPhone sync their album artwork as well. The only songs that will not sync their artwork to my iPhone are the songs that I've purchased from iTunes before updating to iOS 5. Any suggestions?

You have to turn your iPhone on otherwise it wont work.

  • How Can I sync iTunes album artwork with album folders on my Mac

    Small Issue,
I just got a new macbook pro and uploaded copied the iTunes music folder from my PC, to an external hard drive then to the "music" folder in the Finder on my Mac.  I then went into iTunes and added my library via the "add music" link (or something like that)
All the music upload and most of the album artwork was missing.  I clicked "Get Album Artwork" and it replaced most of the album artwork
Here is the issue I need help with...
Some of the albums, which have album artwork inside iTunes, do not have album artwork if I go to the album folder in the finder.  Is there anyway to get this artwork to sync up with the folder?
I ask because, I am kinda anal and like the artwork to show up if I play a song from the spotlight (I like playing music that way)
Am I going to have to manually add the album artwork into the finder folders?

    Hi bill,
Here's an Apple Support article that tells you how to restore your IOS device from a previous backup on iTunes:

  • How to sync without losing artwork

I turned on match on devices and now with itunes it's a pain to get artwork sync between itunes on imac and my ipod touch, The ipod loses a lot of album artwork. What did apple di with itunes? can't now drag an album to ipod touch and get it there with artwork. Please fix this. thanks

I have the same problem, and would love to see the answer.  Indeed, I have three computers - two of which have Itunes Match turned on.  I have two Iphones.  The Iphone with Itunes match turned on has most, but not all of the artwork.  On the Iphone which I have not turned Itunes Match "on," all artwork is now missing.  There are a lot of bugs in the Itunes Match.  While there is much good, this application has a long way to go.

  • Sync without Album Art

I've been having the (-69) error message pop up almost everything I try and sync. It gets to the second song in an album and stops when I manually sync it. When it had worked, it only synced the songs but not the album art. Recently I've tried it said that it didn't recognize the album art.
I was wondering if there is a way to sync without the album art.

    Hey there,
To be quite, honest no, but I have heard of a few possible reasons why. More than often, it has to do with a music file that has become corrupt (as in it is unusable or broken). Several people have had this issue over the years, and not too many solutions have appeared for it. Here is the one Apple support document relating to this issue, if you wish to continue looking into it. Not sure it will help, but it may provide a pointer or two.

  • Problem when Syncing Music: Album Artwork Mixed Up on Ipod Touch

I have a 64gb iPod touch, 4th generation. I sync my music over usb to the iPod through itunes with my entire library. Over the past year I have been having an issue where the music album artwork will be mixed up or sometimes dissapear/not show. Not all of my music does this, mind you, but only some of it. I have a lot of music so it's hard to say what percentage of it but it seems to be at random. I don't mean random as in it changes everytime but that there doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason behind which tracks/albums get their artwork mixed up. I have no videos on the ipod either.
So I've tried many things. I've reset my iPod Touch, always made sure the music app didn't appear in the bottom tray after double clicking(when I sync) and even tried setting my library up on my new computer (it used to be on my old one). Also I've gone through my mp3 collection and cleaned and synchronized all of the tags(between albums, ID3v1 & ID3v2) and album artwork with Mp3Tag. Everything is flawless (I have OCD, hah). Also everything appears correct in iTunes and I'm only having the issue on my iPod touch.
Here is a breakdown of what I've noticed but can't explain:
    1.Reset ipod, reinstall iOs,
2.Sync library with iPod touch, everything is fine,
3.Add a few more tracks to the iTunes library,
4.Resync iPod Touch(here I've noticed something weird. Now the ipod resyncs some of tracks that are already on my iPod Touch and when I look at those tracks in the music app the album artwork is mixed up or sometimes gone.
So I don't really know what to do. I've looked through every forum and website looking for a fix and tried everything I can think of or suggested so far. Any help would be appreciated. I should point out that this problem is merely cosmetic and all the tracks play fine. But I bought a $400 iPod Touch and it can't even do the one thing that made it famous properly. I don't know, these electronics are expensive and things like this are helping me to lose faith in Apple. I've already bought an android phone over lack of faith that the iPhone would display my music correctly. I know it seems silly but an organized library is important to how much I can enjoy my device.
Thanks, hope you guys can help!

  • ITunes 12 syncing incorrect album artwork

When syncing music from iTunes 12 to my iPhone 5s, several songs have incorrect album artwork. I have attempted completely deleting all music from my phone and reinstalling this content, however; this error is still occurring. The correct album artwork is appearing in iTunes.

In certain cases where the same album title is used for more than one album or sort values are used to try to group different things together I have seen the artwork index on an iPod classic get out of sync so that say the 20th album shows the artwork from the 19th and the 50th from the 48th etc. Can't say I've noticed it on an iOS device, but this type of issue is fixed by populating tags consistently as described in Grouping tracks into albums.
Assuming everything is otherwise correct in iTunes this method will normally sort things out.

  • Apple iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.1 won't Sync all Album Artwork, some missing

Since upgrading to iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.1 from an iPhone 4 some of my Album Artwork won't appear or show up. I've read many other Apple Community Forums about the same similar issue however haven't found a resolution to the problem. I hope to make this public and find a way to fix it. All my music is 152kbps at 44100Hz and every album is fully ID3 Tagges along with all accompanied by an album artwork of exactly 600x600px. I cannot understand why some (about 10 - 12) albums artwork won't appear.
    Please help! Any appreciated, thankyou!

I have the same problem. Had my phone replaced today and still doing same thing.
Only thing different lately is that Telstra unlocked my phone

  • Synch without Album Artwork

How do you transfer or synch music to the iPod without transfering the album work from iTunes

On the Classic, when connected to iTunes there is an option to not show artwork (I think it is on the "Music" tab of the iTunes info for your iPod). De-select that option and re-sync. If you manually manage the iPod contents, you may have to delete everything and re-copy the contents back to the iPod after you've changed this setting.
Any reason why you're doing this? If its to save space, keep in mind that artwork is only about 1% of the size of your media files. Also, removing artwork will not free up "space" on the display ... you'll just see a gray square with a music note.

  • ITunes can't find apps on iPod Touch and doesn't sync album artwork

    Ugh.  Here I go again.
I have an iPod Touch (4th gen), 2010 MacBook Pro, all the latest operating systems and updates.
My iPod Touch crashed a bit and so I wanted to sync it again (using the USB cable, not wirelessly).
    (1) Suddenly, there was no music on the iPod Touch.  I managed to get that fixed.
    (2) After a couple of syncs, I was repeatedly getting the message that the iPod Touch apps "could not be synced because the apps could not be determined."  A couple of plugging and unpluggings allowed iTunes to "find" the apps, but this is weird.
    (3) And now, what's bugging me -- and this happened a year or so ago -- very little of the album artwork synced over to the iPod Touch.  I have 600-800 albums.  All of the artwork is correct on iTunes.  About 10% of the artwork transferred over to the iPod Touch.  (Then I synced my iPad, and all the artwork is correct on the iPad.)
If I remember correctly from last year, eventually -- after many successive syncs -- the album artwork made its way correctly over to the iPod Touch, and maybe I'll hope for that this time.
Does anyone have a more direct solution?  Checking and unchecking some boxes on some syncs?  (It takes a good chunk of time to sync over my music, so I don't really have to time to delete and sync repeatedly just as shots in the dark.
Any ideas?  All thoughts welcome. Thank you!

Taking off all the music and then putting it back on took care of the album art, but I'm still getting all kinds of funky behavior -- iTunes can't find the apps, then it can't find the iPod altogether, and it's adding duplicate songs somewhere.  It said it was going to load 3,232 songs, but I ended up with more than 3,400.  Weird.

  • Album artworks messed up. Any way to restore without erasing device?

I found this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20901279 thread already, and this is not a good-enough solution.
    I have an Ipod touch 5th g.
After upgrade to ios7, it went all insane - I could not sync it with my iTunes. I was "okay, major upgrade, let's reset it".
After reset, everything went fine til now (I reset device on 20th september or so, it makes about 3 months).
Today, after morning re-sync, my album artworks (&some artist artworks) are messed up.
Most of my music is from iTunes store. Some (15%) is from my old CDs.
    What should I do?
Reset is an option, but it stinks (e.g.: any iDevice is a thing that supposed to 'just work')

Well okay, I've unsynced/synced the device and waited a week.
For most time it was O.K., however after 2nd purchase my album art is all messed up again.
    Unsyncing again.. Feeling somewhat strange.

  • Option to NOT sync album artwork?

I used to have the option to not sync the album artwork, just the songs. But i can't find that option anymore. The artwork is taking up too much space on my iPod Gen. 2 and I want to free that space up for songs. Help please??

That option has been removed from iTunes. I seem to recall that there is some way to not sync it that involves jumping through some hoops. You're best bet would be to use the Search Discussions box up to the right and search for it. It has been discussed quite extensively.
    Best of luck.

  • Album Artwork

    Ok...I'm not an idiot.
I've had my iPod Video since December 2006. When I add music, I always download the album artwork if it's available. If it is not, I scan in the CD cover (as a jpg) and import it. I've done this ever since the first CD I imported. It's cool being able to see the artwork on my iPod.
I noticed this week that all the new CDs I imported did NOT sync the album artwork. All the music is there, but NO album artwork - although the artwork is showing up in iTunes. It is not showing up on my iPod. I've done nothing different.
Any suggestions on why this is happening now, after 9 months?

Here's how to setup multiple playlists for your iPods:
    1. Create a new iTunes playlist for each one of your iPods. This may be a good opportunity for a Smart Playlist.
    2. Configure the iPod Options in iTunes so that each iPod only gets updated with a specific playlist.
"I have all the songs from the library I want, some of which overlap with my wife's and kid’s, saved into a single playlist. I have all the songs my wife wants on a separate playlist and the kids on their own playlist. If you select all songs in the library and uncheck them, nothing will write onto the iPod under AutoSync. BUT, if you then click on the correct playlist, select all songs and check selection, they will be checked both in the playlist AND in the library. Switch the correct iPod to AutoSync and, poof, you can AutoSync your iPod with only the checked songs. Repeat the procedure with the other playlist and you can AutoSync two iPods on the same computer. Now there's no Johnny Cash or Kidz Bop on my iPod) and we're all happy." ~ Kenneth

  • Cover flow / album artwork

i cannot sync my album artwork or cover flow from itunes to my itouch. any ideas? do i need to re install all my songs and stuff to get it from itunes? thanks!

Well, first make sure that you enable your iPod to sync Music. Then, get a picture of the album art you want. Right click and "copy image". Then open up iTunes and right click on the song you want to put the album art on. Then, click "get info" . There are tabs at the top. Click on "artwork". Right click in the white space and press "paste". If there's already a picture that you dont want, you can click on it and press the delete button. You can also click "add" to add a album artwork picture.
    Damha.

  • Black Album Artwork on my Nano

    Can anyone help please?
Artwork seems ok and visible on itunes library but showing black on the nano...

The only successfully way I found was to go into iTunes, delete the album artwork from the albums which will appear black on the nano, save the info setting (without album artwork) and then just replace it again.
This is a transmission problem. Maybe you shouldn't use images bigger than 500 x 500 px.
Note: All Artwork will be converted to a BMP file. It doesn't matter if the original file was JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG or something else.
