Synced Computer Grayed Out - Vista

I keep having a problem showing my entire library from my synced computer. The synced computer under settings-computers is grayed out and therefore doesn't show everything (I have itunes set as custom sync and show only synced items is unchecked). It was working 2 days ago and then I turned off my computer. When I rebooted, no connection to my synced computer BUT I can sync content from Itunes ALL the time. I tried disabling all services except Bonjour and ituneshelper but no go. Anyone else have this problem? My only work around is to boot up in XP and choose shared library, which works great.

Does anyone know how the apple tv actually finds your synced library? I'm thinking since I can sync from itunes that my computer can obviously find the apple tv through my network. But the other direction seems to have problems. Does it have something to do with bonjour service?

  • I am trying to sync my new iPod classic and "Sync" is grayed out

I have tried everything. Updated iTunes, verified my User id and password, nothing is recognizing the "new" used iPod. When I plug it in to the PC, iTunes is not automatically turning on. When I open iTunes, I go to Devcies, but "Sync" is grayed out. Also, the iPod has started to "Connect" to PC and then automatically starts the "OK to Disconnect" without me doing anything at all. I am floored at this point and don't know what else to try. My old iPod was the original Classic from like 2005ish and it's hard drive just went wonky. I never had an issue with it and iTunes at all.

    Hello Aerogenous,
I know having a device you can't use can be frustrating. I have located an article that will walk you through a series of troubleshooting steps:
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339
Warning: Because restoring erases all the songs and files on iPod, back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library. If you use the Nike + iPod Sport Kit, see this document for more information.
After you perform the restore, you should attempt to sync your content again. Keep in mind that iPods are meant to sync with one computer and one iTunes library.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • TWO WAY Sync is grayed out. Cannot two way synchronize BB.

    Outlook. BB.
When attempting to Configure Synchronization Settings for ASC II importer/exporter, the only options given are ONE WAY Synchronization either to or from the device. The one I want to pick:
TWO WAY Sync is grayed out.
How can I ungray the two way sync to be able to sync my outlook/tasks/address/tasks.
I will synchronization with a USB port, not through a wireless connection.
    Thanks for any help.

Hi, When using software Desktop manager to do a backup and/or restore, I have to disable the wireless syncrhonisation in the blackberry first to enable the 2 ways sync.   Usualy, you can not use wireless  and usb cable sync., so as an example, let`s say you want to sync the adress book. go into your blackberry and into your adress book application and press the "application" button, go into "Options" and change Wireless synchronisation to "No"
After that you should see the 2 ways sync.
When completed, do not forget to put back the wireless synchronisation to "Yes" to enable it back.
    hope that helps.

  • Sync Apps Grayed Out

I can no longer control the sync of apps through iTunes. The Sync Apps checkbox is grayed out. Restrictions are off, so it should not be an issue of the iPad not allowing apps to be installed from iPad or iTunes (I read on a post that this sometimes has this effect). I prefer not restore the iPad and go through the settings again. That seems to be a bit drastic, and some users have reported that doesn't work all the time, nor is it a guarantee this problem won't arise again. There must be a simpler workaround. Any help appreciated!

David, I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 3G. I've tried all of the suggestions above to no avail. I've tried them in different combination without any success. The apps are still grayed out. Any suggestions?
I have exactly the same problem and nothing is working.  This is rediculous, I can't sync any of my apps.

  • Mobile Account Sync Is Grayed Out

    Dear Friends,
One of our users started having problems using account syncing, they had contracted Flashback and asked to have their OS reinstalled. The system is bound to AD and things worked for a while and then they installed VirusBarrier X6 and made some changes.  At first the sync wouldn't work and now the option is grayed out for all users on the computer from the Preferences Pane. We have unbound and rebound the system and tried a permissions repair.  What might be blocking this service from running? Thanks!

I have the same problem with my ipod nano. I downloaded tunes from my old pc. ITunes does not recognise it from my new pc and I cannot sync.

  • I have Windows 8.1 on my PC. Ever since downloading the latest version of i Tunes 11.1.4 it will not recognize any of my i Pods (3). Never had any problems syncing until this latest version of i Tunes.Manual sync is "grayed out", any ideas ? Thanks

I have Windows 8.1 on my PC. Ever since downloading the latest version of i Tunes, it will not recognize any of my i Pods (3) and therefore am unable to sync any music from my i Tunes to the i Pods. I've tried all the obvious things like resarting the PC as well as the i Pods tried different patch cables but the i Tunes software will no longer recognize my i Pods. I have automatic sync selected, but I even tried to manually sync by clicking on devices under File but the sync icon is "grayed" out. When I look under Preferences and click on devices the serial numbers of my i Pods appear and are correct but again will not recognize the i Pod when plugged in to the PC. Bottom line I'm dead in the water....appreciate any suggestions....thanks

  • Why are the songs downloaded from my computer grayed out and won't play?

Why are the songs that I downloaded from my pc not playing on my iphone and grayed out?

    Hi sweatt,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You may find these steps helpful for resolving the issue you're encountering:
    iTunes Store: Troubleshooting iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4054
Songs containing DRM (Digital Rights Management) may not appear, or may appear grayed out in iCloud. This can occur if your computer is not authorized for playback of that content. Try authorizing your computer, then manually update iTunes Match.
To determine what Apple ID your computer needs to be authorized for, locate and select the song in your iTunes library.
    Choose File > Get Info.
In the Summary tab, locate the Account Name field in the right column and write it down.
    Click OK.
Choose Store > Authorize this Computer.
Type in the account name from the Summary field and its password. Click Authorize.
Choose Store > Update iTunes Match.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • Can't Connect to My Other Computer - Grayed Out Icon

For some unknown reason I am unable to connect to my other computer. I see an icon for it in my finder window, but it looks grayed out. When I click 'connect', an alert box pops up saying that it's contacting the IP and "Timeout in X seconds". It counts down to 0 and nothing happens.
File sharing is on. I've restarted the computers. No firewalls. Bot h are able to connect to the internet. Very simple setup. What's wrong?

  • IPod Nano shows up on "my computer", but "sync" is grayed out in iTunes

This is my second iPod that has has the same problem on two different computers.  I have run diagnostics, and the only test that fails is the one to sync. I have went through all of the help steps located there, and still cannot get it to work.  Since this is the second iPod, and the same thing is happening I'm guessing it is not the iPod.  The first one was a 3rd generation, this one is a 4th generation Nano.  I would appreciate any help as I have done everything possible and nothing seems to make a difference.  Thanks

Did you try reformatting it then?  If so, what happens when you tried?  What happens if you try connecting the iPod to your PC in Disk Mode?

  • Sync option grayed out

I cannot sync my iPad to my PC. I've gone through preferences, and the "prevent iPods, iPhone, and iPad from syncing automatically" is unchecked. Currently, there is no backup on this computer.
What do I need to do next, to get this computer to sync with my iPad?

I figured it out! I had the iPad hooked up, before loading iTunes. I unhooked the cable, and hooked it back up, and the icon came up on the top right of iTunes.
I'm backing up my iPad right now!

  • Apps won't sync from iTouch to computer.  iTunes recognizes the iTouch and the app content, but the content is grayed out on the computer screen and won't allow me to sync.  My iTouch is version 4.2.1 with 6.8GB  capacity.

I am on vacation and away from my home computer.  I installed iTunes on a computer I'm using at my son's house to enable
me to sync my iTouch, since it has become unstable when I am playing games and continually closes and reverts to the home
    screen.
My son's computer recognizes my iTouch and my apps appear on the screen but they are all grayed out and will not allow me
to sync.  Can anyone help me please?

Your iPod can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. If you try to add content to it from another computer it will erase the contents of your iPod and replacement it with the contents of the new library.
In regards to the unstableness, have you tried a hard reset to see if that makes a difference?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
