Synch Songs on 2 Different Computers- How

I understand that you have to delete songs from your iTunes library and re-synch to get songs off your phone. However, I have a couple of questions here
1. What if my PC crashes and I loose all data/ have to reinstall the OS [a not-so-remote scenario on windows OS]. Would it mean the next time I synch with iTunes [after OS reinstall], I have to create a new playlist, and the existing song on iPhone will be deleted
2. Lets say i have a Computer at home and another at my workshop, and both do not carry essentially the same songs. Will this mean if I try to synch with iTunes on two different computers [w/o the same songs/ playlist in both] - what gets saved on to the iPhone from one computer gets deleted when synched to the other one?!

Correct, unless you maintain a backup of your iTunes library along with all other important data. This no-so-remote scenario is one of the reasons why maintaining a backup of all your important data is so important. There are several reasons why maintaining a backup is important regardless the platform, but even more so with a Windows PC due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.
iTunes includes a backup option stored on CD media, but there are other options available.

In regards to iTunes content and for photos transferred to an iPhone, an iPhone can be synced with iTunes on a single computer only. Contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks can be synced with multiple computers.

You can transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Since these songs were purchased with the same iTunes account, you can download the song that is not in your iTunes library on the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with. Or you can download the song or songs direct on your iPhone.

  • Downloading songs from two different computers, and not recognizing songs

On my home computer, I downloaded about 40 songs onto my IPod from CDs. Then, I installed the program on my work computer, and purchased four songs from ITunes. When I plug my IPod into my work computer, it is not recognizing the songs I downloaded from my home computer. However, if I plug my IPod into my work computer, I can listen to these four purchased songs, but once I try to listen to them without having it plugged into my work computer, only the songs I downloaded from home are on the IPod.
Has this happened to anyone else who has tried to put songs from two different computers onto their IPod?

Just to elaborate a bit, you need to copy the purchased files and put them on your home computer.
Don't burn them as an audio CD as you will lose quality when you re-import them.
You can use the Shuffle (instead of a CD) to do this

  • How to share songs on 2 different computers in same house

I am trying to share my itunes songs with my other computer in the same house, is this possible to do ? please can anyone guide me ? thanks

Sync is about synchronisation to Lightroom Mobile, the iPad/iPhone app, not about synchronising from one computer to another. There isn't really a way to sync two computers automatically, but you can use methods such as File>Export/import as Catalog, Dropbox, or copying through the operating system.

  • HT2688 How to play same song of two different computers at the same time

Hi I have turned on Home Sharing. So one computer can play music on another.  Is there any way to have one computer play what the other computer is playing at the same time.  Other than just starting the same song as close in time as possible on each computer.

create an album of all of the photos you want to order, open the album, select all and order - be sure teh photos are cropped to the print size so unexpected cropping does not occur during the printing process

  • Ive had my itunes for different computers. how do i get all my purchased on one itunes

how do i get my purchased products from one computer to another with the same itune account? i selected the purchased section in itunes. everything came up the first time but not i cant find it! ive been at it for a while now and nothing seems to be working. please and thank you!

    Hello stefdare,
I recommend downloading the songs from your list of purchased songs in the iTunes Store.  As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the songs, you will not be charged for the songs.
You can find the steps to do this under the section titled "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer" in the following article:

    Hey Mike2793,
Thanks for the question, I believe the following article has the answer you are looking for:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers

iPod shuffle and iPhone are intended for use with a single computer. You cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle and iPhone like you can with other devices.

  • Purchased Songs on Two Different Computers

I have two computers, one at home and one in my office. I have purchase about 30 songs on the computer in my office using the same itunes account I use at home. When I open itunes at home, I only see the two songs I have purchased at home. Once I buy a song, shouldn't I be able to access it on both computers? Do the songs get saved to my account on only the computer used to make the purchase? Thank You for your help...not crazy about itunes support. Danielle C.

To transfer, I would just save the songs to a folder and send them to my other computer for download?
Right-click an item, locate it, copy that file as well as any others in the same area of the hard disk to the new computer, and then drag them into the open iTunes window. Alternatively, back up the library to CDs or DVDs and restore the backup on the other computer.

  • Buying apps from different computers - how to get everything on the iphone

    Hi,
I have an iphone which I sync mainly with my home mac for music, videos, photos, and apps.
I also sync the iphone with my work windows PC for contacts and calendars.
Both the mac and the PC are authorised on my same iTunes account.
From time to time, I buy apps from my work PC, when they're on sale and because they're too large to download under 3G. (no wifi at work)
But I don't know how to get those apps on the iPhone then ? I didn"t try to sync the iphone with the PC for apps, as I am afraid this will break everything.
I tried to copy the .ipa files from the PC to the mac with a USB key, but then iTunes on the mac don't seem to "see" those IPAs...
So what is the solution ?
    Thanks in advance,
    best

You need to drag them into the open iTunes application window.

  • Downloading songs from two different computers?

Can you just download music from another computer on you iphone or would that just mess everything up?

The iphone can only download music from one computer at a time.
If you connect the iphone to a second computer and download music, it will erase all the music from the first computer.
However, if you have music on 2 computers that you wont to combine into one itunes music library, this article might help out.

Also, if the music you want to combine is purchased music from the itunes music store, this article might help out.

  • How can I use the same "I Tunes" on two different computers

I’m using two different kinds of Personal Computer: One is Desktop PC And the other one is Notebook .
In each computer there are the same songs and when I get the new ones to the Desktop I want them to be placed on the Notebook or reverse.
Where does the I Tunes save the playlist on the hard drive ?
I have prepared a playlist on my Notebook and want it to be seen on the Desktop but I dont want to fallow the steps File > Library > Export Playlist on the Notebook. Is there any other way to make this issue instead of the mentioned steps.
How can I see the same Playlists and songs on two different computers ( notebook and desktop) including the updating processes.
    Operating systems of the computers:
    Desktop: XP Pro
    Notebook: Vista Bussiness

I use SyncToy 2.0 to keep two instances of my library in sync. SyncToy's preview will show which files it is about to update giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the changed files will be copied saving lots of time.
As long as I sync after making updates at one instance of the library before making any updates at the other then everything works just fine. I periodically run iTunes Folder Watch to check for any orphaned entries or new items that haven't been imported into the active library. If your machines are regularly networked together this process is fairly straightfoward. Mine are in disparate locations so I use one of the (physically) small WD My Passport host powered drives which I take between home & work, synchronising at either end. This gives me three complete copies of my library so I'm covering backup & synchronisation in the same operation.
When connecting my iPod at either location iTunes recognises itself as the "home" library for the iPod so I'm able to use the sync with selected playlists option without getting warning messages about the iPod being synced with a different library.

  • How can I transfer songs from two different itunes?

I want to transfer songs from my brother's itunes library to my shuffle, but when I plug it in his computer, a message saying that his library is not linked to my library (or something to that extent) and whether I would like to replace the songs. If I click yes, all my existing songs are replaced with HIS songs. If I click on NO, the Shuffle icon does not appear at all and I cannot transfer any of his songs to my shuffle. How can I transfer songs from two different computers into my shuffle without replacing any of my existing music?
    Shuffle   Windows XP
      Windows XP

You'll have to setup your iPod to manual instead of automatic update (I'm not sure, though, if it works with the Shuffle as well).

How do I transfer music from different iTunes accounts on different computers?

Move the song files to the desired computer and then either drag them into the library in the open iTunes application window or the Automatically Add to iTunes folder. If this would cause the single library to have content from more than five Apple IDs, you may not be able to sync it to an iPod or iOS device.

My family owns 3 computers, how can we share, or better yet, centralize our music when we have 3 different Apple ID?
How can we sync all 3 computers music content on itunes Match? Even when only one purchases music?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photosstream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
If only one of you purchases content from iTunes (this includes Books and apps too) then I suggest you use that account for each of you for iTunes only.
