Synch stuck on "updating contacts"

Haven't synched in about a week. Plugged in and the synch starts but stays stuck on "updating contacts." Anyone know how to get this resolved?

I was expecting to see that or some other type of pop up window with some type of message but nothing. I started and stopped the process 3 times and the 4th time it seemed to work okay. I haven't synched yet today but I will later so we'll see what happens.

Hi, I have the same problem. Using ipad 2 with ios 5 and a mac running lion (10.7.2). My iphone syncs fine, but my ipad2 just sits there for ever with the message:
'Synching Data to ... (Step 6 of 6) Waiting for items to copy'
Have tried rebooting the ipad but it didn't help.

Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to a minute. If it's stuck, you might want to give Apple support a call to see if they are experiencing unreported server issues. Since your device is new, you are within the 90-day free call support period. You can set up the call here: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/. You will need your serial number, which is on the box and (I believe) the back of your iPad.

I recently updated my iPhone 4s to ios6, and lost 1200 odd contacts. I have a backup from about 4-5 months ago avaiable. Can I add/update contacts from the back up rather than restore which i assume will literally delete any new contacts added...?

I have a backup from about 4-5 months ago available on an external hdd as a time machine backup. Can I add/update contacts from the back up rather than restore? The reason i wish to do this is because in the update i didnt lose any messages, so all of the people i have met and networked with since that last update those many months ago, i have in my messages listings. They are all unidentified numbers at present but over time i will be able to work through the messages and based on the conversation recall who each was with. Also, yesterday, some two weeks after the update had left my contacts list entirely empty... a vast majority just reappeard, though all of them are without any phone numbers, all just emails or facebook contacts. This is the work of facebook not mac/ios6 isnt it...? Any help here would be greatly apprecaited. I am about 2 days from flying to canada and having those contacts would make life a lot easier.

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

How can I synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder in Outlook 2003?

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3. In my 'contacts' menu I have 3 folders: 'Contacts', 'iPhone' and 'Old.' I created 'iPhone' and 'Old' folders and 'Contacts' was the default folder. When I synch my 3G iPhone with Outlook I want to synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder. But I can't seem to do this. My options are to synch all folders or a selection of non-default folders (i.e., anything but 'Contacts.')
Does this make sense? I don't want to synch anything in the 'old' folder to my iphone. But I also don't want to move all of my current contacts to a special folder just so I can synch only these items.
So when I synch my iPhone I want it to limit the synching to only the default 'contacts' folder.
Is there a way to do this?

Open one of the folders that keeps changing. Set it to the view mode you prefer. Press Command-J (Show View Options in View menu).
At the top of the View Options screen is an item which allows one to set "Always open in xxx view". Chekmark that.
Repeat for each folder you want.
This is a per-folder setting. Note that the View Options screen is 'live" - you can leave it open, and as you open successive folders it will display the settings for each in turn.

I have updated to IOS 6, the App store won't work, is stuck in update mode for 1 day and the battery now goes flat in 3 hrs without use. Can I go back to IOS 5?

Hi, I was forced to upgrade to IOS 6 due to a restore.
Since the upgrade, I have lost information, the App store is stuck in update mode, my battery drains in hours and many more problems.
Is there a way to go back to the VERY RELIABLE IOS 5? This phone is nearly useless now.

Just FYI - the situation is resolved. I downloaded the new snow leopard 10.6.8 update for safari and now itunes works. I have no idea what that has to do with anything - but I saw it on another forum and it actually worked.

Check icloud.com to be sure you contact list is correct there. If it is, just go to Settings>iCloud on your device and turn Contacts to On to sync the contacts to your device. If contacts are already set to On and you still see duplicates, you may be viewing a duplicate contact group in addition to the iCloud contacts. Open Contacts, tap Groups, then tap any groups other than iCloud to uncheck them, then tap Done. See if the duplicates are still there.

How do i update my contacts on icloud with the updated contacts on my iphone5?

Apologies if this has already been answered, here's my problem.
I have updated my contacts on the iphone 5 by merging my contacts from my email server hotmail. so how do i send this updated contacts list back to the icloud.
I have tried to exchange, update. but its not as simpe as it looks. i am unable to do this by backing up to icloud or by finding a sync contacts function.
I would appreciate any help and advice as i am trying to create a group for sending team texts out.

Messages stuck in updating after Yosemite install. Tried re-install of Yosemite and quit messages, still unable to access.

Hi,
Go to the ~/Library/Attachments folder. (well it should be a folder).
If it is not a Folder then rename it and create a New folder with the same name.
restart Messages.
Or if you have a Time Machine backup replace the Non folder item with an Original from just before the update.

PC Suite: "Could not update contacts" - "Kunne ikk...

I got my new Nokia 6220 Classic yesterday and went immediately start to manage my contacts. I have pictures on about 70 to 202 contacts.
When I had to add a picture to a contact, PC Suite posted an error "Could not update contacts" Since my phone was set to via Bluetooth I tried with the USB cable without success. I rebooted phone and PC but it was the same.
I uninstall PC Suite and tried again but the USB cable and Bluetooth, without success. Today, I am at my job where I use the USB interface. Exact same error. I tried to update the firmware on the phone, but with the same, because there is not a newer version. But I get the same problem. The calendar works as it should, but messages do not work, here comes the message "The message could not be sent." - I can (From job, not at home) see the messages which have come, but can't answer or create new messages ..
Now I run a PC Suite Cleaner and reinstalled PC Suite. Same problem.
What should I try and what can be wrong?
I am happy using PC Suite and I use it very much! I want it to work .. )

Hmm... I think I have solved this..
I started by taking a Backup this morning.
Now I finally desided to delete all and start over. I made another Back up, Restored the Back up from erliere. Then set contact memory to SIM and back to Phone...
And now it works?!?!?!!?
Only a few photoes to some contacts has to be redone, and som contacts appear more then once.. But My Suite works!

Numbers Doc stuck on updating

I have a numbers document that I created on an IPAD1 (IOS 5.01) and synced to ICLOUD. I've been using my IPHONE 4 (no S) to update the sheet but today it refused to upload the updated copy. I reset all settings on both devices, same but now the document appears to be trying to update on the IPHONE and IPAD both.
I logged onto the ICLOUD web site and the document is there, but stuck on 'updating' and wont change. Since its updating, I cant download it. The only option it gives me is to delete it.
Any ideas on how I can get this file to sync or allow me to download it? The document itself isnt very large.... it has 5 sheets and 4 forms in it. Not alot of data entered in it.

This is happening to me on my iPhone 4 using numbers and iCloud as well. The first time it happened I tried several times resetting, rebooting, relaunching etc. I discovered as Winston states I could get it out via iTunes. But I also discovered weirdly enough that I could continue to open, edit and close and duplicate the spreadsheet the whole time. I was also able to email the spreadsheet just fine from numbers while it was open too. It just seams stuck updating the changes. I ultimately deleted the spreadsheet and reuploaded like Winston described. Problem is now its doing it for the second time this week with the same spreadsheet. I am suspecting some sort of iCloud iFail. Since I've been using iOS 5, numbers, this spreadsheet, iCloud and this iPhone all for months with no changes till this week.
