Synch with Groupwise Causes alarms to be set at 12:05 AM

Hi,
I have a Black Berry 8700 and I have the 4.7 desktop client and am synching with Groupwise 7.0.3. When I synch my calendar items they get transferred to my BB with an alarm time of 12:05. I have my default alarm time set to 5 minutes prior to the appointment start time set in both Groupwise and on the BB.
If I manually change the appointment notify time from say 875 minutes to 5 minutes it will synch back to GW fine. Has anyone seen this and more importantly what is the fix.

Install GroupWise Client 7.0.3 HP1 - (In Novell GroupWise versions earlier than 7.0.3 HP2, the alarm time was relative to a minimum value (midnight, 30 December 1899), whereas Novell GroupWise 7.0.3 HP2 and later, the alarm time is based on the current date and time.)
This solved my problem!!!!

I've stopped using my Palm ever since I got a 12" PB that is light enough to carry around. But my organization keeps the shared calendars on Groupwise. Is there a program available to synch iCal with it?

I have been around and around with my IT people about this and there is only one (barely) acceptable way I have found to make all this work: Groupwise 6.5.4, a Palm PDA, Palm 4.2 desktop software AND the absolutely newest version Intellisync handheld sync software on my admin's PC running XP.
My admin enters appointments and the like into my Groupwise calendar (via proxy rights to my account). At the end of the day we hook up my Palm z22 to her PC and sync my Groupwise calendar to the Palm via Intellisync. I then walk down to my office and sync the Palm with iCal, my phone, and my .mac account. It isn't pretty but it works.
I have tried doing this strictly on the mac side, trying to figure out a sync solution via Entourage. No go. Even if you are able to get your events to show up in a calendar folder in Entourage (I interface with Groupwise via an IMAP setup in Entourage) and then, by some special arrangement of the planets get an app like E2Sync to move the data to iCal (REALLY problematic in my experience), the missing link is getting events from the Entourage calendar back to Groupwise. (This is all a Novell issue. The code writers for that company should be ashamed with their implementation strategies, Mac client, and their overall lack of adherance to standards. And the decision makers at my company should have their heads examined for getting in bed with Novell in the first place.)
The Intellisync solution is not without its problems. Tech support is nominal on their sync products. Their software is incredibly finicky about when it is installed. The Palm OS preferences in Intellisync are confusing and misleading. But I have finally gotten it to work and things apppear to be syncing well.
If this collapses on me for some reason (it's Intellisync and Novell--you never know) my rocket scientist of an IT guy has just tested and verified another solution: He set up a WebDAV server on one of his OSX servers and used an app called Sunbird on the PC side to serve as the calendar program. He verified that his iCal data could be imported to the WebDAV server in one big data import. And he verified that the PCs could not only see the calendar but add and modify it. For me, the downside of this solution for me was it pulled me completely out of the Groupwise calendar world, which is something of an issue for most GW users at my company (can't do busy searches, etc.) It also means another app that my admin support staff has to navigate. So that solution is waiting for me if Intellisync flops, but for now, so far so good.
If anyone is in this world of pain and wants more detailed help sorting this out feel free to contact me directly. This has been way more difficult and frustrating than it should ever have to be so I would be glad to help you avoid similar heartache.

Also - my battery has been telling me "service battery" for a LONG time and then it switched to "replace soon" som time ago. Can't really see what this has to do with anything but whatever.
That could conceivably explain all the problems you're describing. Replacing a Mac's battery should not be postponed since a failed battery will cause other problems to occur. It is also possible that its hard disk has failed, which means the information on it may soon become unrecoverable.
... my latest TM back up was from April 2014, can I just run this when I have rescued everthing and then it might not be as slow?
If that Time Machine backup remains intact, it may be the only viable means of recovering that Mac's information. I suggest you do not attempt to restore its contents to your ailing Mac.
Given that you are having trouble creating a newer Time Machine backup you should stop using that Mac immediately and have it serviced as soon as you are able. Do not take it to anyone other than Apple or a service facility authorized by Apple, for the very reasons you explained. If there are no Apple Stores in your vicinity search for an Authorized Apple Service Provider using the Contact Us link below. Use one of the options that appear under Contact Apple Support. The language on that page will be different for your location.

Are you wanting to import iCal to the MacBook Air. Since iCloud doesn't work with 10.6 OSX you probably don't have any data in iCloud yet?

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app. Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows. If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again. Make sure you transfer purchases first. Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

It may be a situation where we all wait for things to clear up. The Verizon Cloud has been having issues for a very long time. Have you tried backing up contacts to your Gmail account, if you have one?

This has to do with the Time Zone Support selected in your phone. If you check in Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars, there is a setting for Time Zone Support at the bottom of the page under Calendars. If that is turned to off, the calendar should support the local time. Because time is set to Automatic (since you say the time is correct on the iPhone), it is reflecting the local time. That information comes from the carrier, not the iPhone itself. You can check, however the iPhone says that if you turn off the Time Zone support, it should reflect in the local time. Do a test, if possible, and see if that will do what you are asking.

You will be ok if you do this. When you get home with the iPad - do not sync until you transfer purchases if you download apps and music on the iPad before you get home and sync to your computer.
Launch iTunes on your computer and go the menu at the top - iTunes>Preferences>Devices> and check the box at the bottom of the window that says Prevent iPods, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically. Then quit iTunes.
Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes if it does not open on its own. Right click on the iPad name or music that you downloaded into your iTunes library. While you are still in iTunes you can then select the music, photos or whatever other content that you want to put on the iPad in all of the different tabs in the iTunes window at the top. Make sure you check the appropriate headings in the various tabs - such as "Sync Music" - then select the playlists or albums that you want to sync and then you can sync.

You don't have the option to sync to your existing iTunes library? You should get that option. If iTunes tells you that it will erase the iPad and sync with the new library isn't that what you want? ... to sync with your own iTunes library again?
You can look to see if you maybe have another backup from which you can restore - but if you auto sync that will just create another new backup that you don't want to use.
See if you have another backup first - from the iTunes menu go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and look for another backup.

Pages on iPad not synching with iCloud

I have iCloud set up on my iPad. I have iCloud turned on in Pages. However, none of my files are uploading. All the Apple IDs and passwords are fine. Could it be I don't have the cellular plan turned on? I rely on my home wifi network.

OK... here's the low-down from Apple-care. They put out the update, but it will cause pages (and keynote?, and ???) not to synch with iCloud. They knew it... they put it out anyway, and it won't be fixed until they do the new, free update to Yosemite sometime later this month. I did find an end-around though. E-mail your document to yourself and open it up in pages. Pain in the posterior... and certainly not Apple-Tech, but it is a workable solution until they fix their blunder. Oh... did you update your iPad to 8.0.1 and it mess you up? They pulled that and sent out 8.0.2. Wow... I'd think i was back in PC land... Not cool.

ICal on iMac won't synch with iphone 4 with 4s software update

Help please.
Since I updated my iphone 4 with the software for iphone 4s my ical on my imac won't synch with my iphone calendar. Also events are duplicated. It is driving me crazy as I have to check both clandarsd to ensure I don't miss any events and have to physically re enter them separately into the different calendars.
If the fix involves backing up or anything technical can you please explain fully how I do it as I am not a very experienced mac user.

"Well, I figured it out. The events that weren't syncing from my laptop to my iPhone were events for which I had changed the "calendar". In other words, I set up some events in iCal, all of which were part off the same calendar, but then I didn't like the color of those events. So I created a new calendar and changed these events by right clicking on them to assign them to the new calendar. Somehow, moving these events from the calendar they were created on to a different one caused them not to be recognized by the sync process. This sounds like a bug to me."

My Apple TV (1st Gen) will not synch with iTunes on my Laptop

I've been trying to do this for a while, it shouldn't be too difficult i think.
All i want to do is synch all the content on my laptop with my Apple TV (and vice versa) so all the content including photos and home videos is the same on both my Apple TV and my laptop.
Some points:
There's enough hard drive space on both
I'm using Windows 7 ultimate on my laptop
The correct port exceptions have been added to Windows Firewall
I have purchases on both my laptop and Apple TV from the iTunes store
We're using a wireless network and it while it's possible to get them both cable wired, it would be a pain
Home networking is set up in iTunes on my laptop
I've set up my Apple TV to synch (not stream) with my account on my laptop
Both iTunes and Apple TV are up to date with their downloads
I think that's it - am i missing anything, or should this now just work?

Blackberry calendar not synching with Outlook

Hi guys,
We did 2 upgrades and now some black calendar are not synching naymore with outlook.
Here's our setting
We had Blackberry Enterprise server professionnal 4.0.17 or something like that we upgraded to Blackberry server Express 5.0.3 MR 1 (Bundle 19) for Exchange server
we had Microsoft Exchange 2003 and we upgraded to 2010
Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Version 14.1.218.15 with service pack installed Update Rollup 5 SP1 and Update Rollup 4-V2 SP1
The issue is with some Blackberry device when you add something to the Black Calendar it's not showing up into Outlook calendar.
I tried to removed every cical ligne into the services book and resend the service book from the blackberry server, had no luck
I tried these steps :
On the BlackBerry smartphone, open the Calendar application.
Click the Menu button and click Options.
Set the Wireless Synchronization option to No.
Click the Menu button and click Save.
Set the Wireless Synchronization option to Yes.
Click the Menu button and click Save. Turning wireless calendar synchronization on and off will reset the calendar database on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Create a calendar entry in Microsoft Outlook and verify that the entry wirelessly synchronizes to the BlackBerry smartphone.
no luck too..

here's some new information I tried / double checked...
I make sure that Options > Advanced Options > Default Service > is set to Desktop no facebook or something else configured on the device
I'm thinking of doing this.
we can try a forced reload. Before proceeding you need to be
aware that these steps will erase the device calendar and load a fresh copy from the server. On the device open the Calendar > press menu > Select Options >
Type RSET (nothing will appear as you type) > Then when prompted select Yes to erase the device Calendar and load a fresh copy from the server.
this would really be my last option because our employees that are having the synch issue had added some important stuff into their calendar related to their job and this information is only available on the blackberry calendar...

No app on the iOS device is required.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or continue to show off-line.
- You can also wipe/erase the iOS device and have the device play a sound via iCloud.

- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the device and report to police and carrier if iPhone or cellular iPad
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the erase (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 or later on the device. With iOS 7 or later, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
