Synching after battery change

I just put a new battery in my ancient, but fully functional m130. I have to run it on an old eMac with OS9.
My question:
I noticed after the battery change everythign was wiped out on the m130. I am afraid if I synch it will wipe everything out.
How do I synch it so the data in the Palm Desktop on the eMac is put back into the m130?
Seems like when I used it when I was teaching that it would synch and update with whatever was the lastest change in data--either the Palm Desktop if I entered data on it last, or the handheld if I entered data last on it.
If that is so, if I entered some new data on teh Desktop, would it then put all the data on the Desktop on the m130 and be back in business?
Post relates to: Palm m130

  • My iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change?

my iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change, I decided to change my faulty iphone 5 battery as i was out of warrenty, I managed to chance the battery with no problems (I Think), when i put the phone back together and tried to power on with the power button, nothing happened.!  i connected to itunes and it powered on, displaying the connect to itunes screen (recovery mode) all was going well, the phone was restoring, the image of the phone restoring and loading up was displayed on the screen, when it finished it restarted but to show the connect to itunes screen again, it is stuck in the recovery loop. i tried the steps with holding the power and home button etc, none worked.! now when i try to restore, it extracts software but then, ' the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (3194)' comes up, any ideas out there???? and Happy Christmas to Everyone ,

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Wireless Keyboard issues after battery change

I've search the forums for an answer and can't seem to come up with anything.
I have an older white wireless keyboard. It's been running great on my Mac Pro since day one, no battery changes since new, about 9 months now, maybe a bit more. The batteries just died on me and I went and changed them with 4 new batteries. Upon turning the keyboard back on, the green power LED comes on steady for about 5 seconds, then goes into a quick double blink, then a pause, then double blink again, repeating this over and over again.
I've replaced the batteries again with a different brand, same results. I've attempted to clean the positive terminals with a pencil eraser as found in an Apple knowledge base article. Nothing seems to change. The unit won't connect and doesn't appeared to be powered on as the Caps Lock key indicator will not light up.
Is it dead? Any ideas on the double blink indicating a fault? The manual does not have a key on blink codes.

Contacted Apple phone support. They had me reset my PRAM and after the reboot, the keyboard connected back up just fine and is working properly again.

  • Startup problems after battery change

My G4 Desktop, now getting on for 6 years old, but working perfectly until recently, needed a battery change on the mainboard as the clock was having problems. However this has led to startup problems: initially, following the startup chord, the computer wouldn't start at all. After some online digging, I found references to the CUDA button/zapping the PRAM. I can now restart by resetting CUDA, but the computer usually won't restart or even start from power off, meaning I have to go back to the CUDA button every time. The computer also fails to recognize the installed RAM, except for 128MB, corresponding to one of three RAM strips.
Apart from the battery, the only other likely contributing factors are that the computer's been shipped internationally recently (however, it was professionally packed and shipped, and made its first restart after this move without problems). The other potential factor is the switch in voltage, from 240 to 110, but that was handled normally by switching over on the back of the case.
I would really appreciate any advice that can help me get this old clunker back in action, and with all RAM recognized. Nice as an upgrade would be, it's not a strong option for me at the moment, and I'm otherwise satisfied with the G4 anyway.

    Hi, Yukiguni!
You sure have an interesting problem...
You might review Texas Macman's tutorial at the following link:
    http://www.geocities.com/texas_macman/pram.html
I'd check that replacement battery with a voltmeter to insure that it's good. ("New" isn't necessarily synonymous with "fresh".)
You might try completely de-energizing your Mac. In the link above, there's a Tip just above the Battery section that refers to what to do when sometimes computers lose their mind. This procedure oftentimes works to reset a PMU/CUDA that seems to refuse to reset properly and retain the correct startup parameters.
If you can get the Mac to boot from disk again, you might run the Apple Hardware Disk. Definitely run Repair Disk from the install disk if you haven't already done so and can get it to boot from disk. (You might try booting to the Startup Manager by holding down the option key at startup and trying to select the disk from there. Your best bet for success is to do so just after resetting the CUDA/PMU.)

  • HT4254 Problems after battery changing

everytime I change the batteries in my trackpad, I have to intermittently hit system preferences to get it to recognize the trackpad. Any suggestions? And yes, the batteries are in the right way.

    Hello:
If that only happens after you change batteries, I would say that is normal.  You might make the device a favorite - that may help.

  • Power Mac G4 MDD not powering up after battery change and pci reset

First my clock was off. Then iTunes 9.0.3 problem - error message 'this copy of iTunes is corrupted or installed incorrectly. Need to reinstall.' I uninstalled iTunes according to the KB instruction. Then 9.1 install failed. This is the beginning of nightmare. Everything I tried failed thereafter.
I thought the low battery might be partly or solely responsible for this behavier. So I bought and installed a new battery. After that my Mac was OK for about one hour. Then I was trying to use Disc Utilities using the installer disc to check the HD's health. It failed. I started up to the internal OS. I used fsck. Came up the message saying 'This volume of the HD could not be repaird.' I repeated restarting a few times altogether. Finally, it quit booting. Precisely it boots up to gray screen with Apple logo with a daisy spinning underneath (for a long time). Then the screen turned blue and a cursor blinked periodically. Tried a couple of more times. Same thing ...
So I reset the PCI (PMU). Nothing has changed. Same pretty blue screen. Where can I go from here before I head for Apple Store. Please help.

I believe that the directory on your hard drive is corrupted & Disk Utility can't repair. DiskWarrior can probably fix your problem. DiskWarrior by Alsoft

It is called leave well enough alone.Changed battery as mentioned then put old

    be welcome please.

No there is not. Kernal Panic at start up, cannot boot to OS means that there is no operating system on your hard drive and you will need to load one on there. There is nothing on the device, even though when plugged in, iTunes will recognize that there is still the data on the iPhone.
The hard drive is corrupted, and you will either need to get a new phone, or somehow find a way to format the hard drive and load the operating system on it. This usually happens with old iPods as well.

  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard totally dead after battery change

Ok, so I got the classic "your batteries are low" message from Leopard this morning, and pulled the batteries out of my keyboard and replaced them with new ones.
Now, all of a sudden with the new batteries I get no power on the keyboard (no led activity). I double checked and yes, they are in the right way.
I thought, ok, dud batteries so I tried another set with no luck. Tested the batteries and both sets are new. I also tried pulling the batteries out of the keyboard and holding down the power button on the keyboard for a minute to try to get it to drain any residual power and reset, still with no luck. No LED on keyboard and no signal to Leopard that it exists..
Has anyone else seen this or have any suggestions besides driving to the apple store for a replacement? This one is finally broken in just right..
    Thanks,
    MC

    Hi MC:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I think your thought is correct. Head for the Apple store and have them test it on one of their systems.

  • [Solved] No boot bc changed file(Old:not booting after battery runout)

    x86_64
    kernel 3.7.9-1
    Cinnamon DE
I was copying files from an external USB HDD and I didn't notice the battery was running out, and so it did run out.
Therefore it shut down, and now I can't access Linux. (Also tried fallback mode)
Also I'm dual-booting arch and w7, and w7 does boot, it's weird that arch just won't.
So Grub menu does load, but after selecting Arch , it just hangs with one text line and prompt, also can't input anything; it shows like this:
    /dev/sda4: clean, 250964/1638400 files, 2039871/6553600 blocks
That's shown when I don't have the USB HDD connected (the one I copied files from)
And when I do have it connected, it's the same just some more lines:
    /dev/sda4: clean, 250969/1638400 files, 2040885/6553600 blocks

Without the 'quiet' kernel parameter, it says that dhcpcd service failed and it stucks at [OK] Graphical User Interface.
Also managed to get the logs (dmesg,journalctl,xorg.0.log). And with all of your input I realized that I recently modified several files to have another keyboard layouts, which I still haven't managed to achieve. I remember I did reboot after the changes to those files, but other layouts never showed up, so I left those files modified (mistake)
Now the thing is that I thought that I had fixed one of them '10-keyboard.conf' in the above posts, as frank604 suggested commenting out the whole section inputclass. For some reason I Interpreted that as 'coment out only ''inputclass' line'' and never checked the log (xorg.0.log) after the change...
Well now after checking the new log, it says 'error on line 7' so after commenting out the whole section, like this:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Keyboard Defaults"
    MatchIsKeyboard "ye"
    Option "XbkLayout" "us"
    #Section "InputClass"
    # Identifier "Keyboard-layout"
    # MatchIsKeyboard "on"
    # Option "XkbLayout" "us,es"
    # Option "XkbOption" "grp:caps_toggle"
    EndSection
I typed startx ,it didn't mark another error but it still wouldn't start,so I decided to reboot.
After that... arch does enter now !
All of this just because I wanted to change the keyboard layouts.
Having said that.. the problem was that file I modified and after removing my changes and rebooting, now it boots!. Seems like the 'battery run out while copying files' was not related to arch not booting, or so I think.
    Thanks for all your attention

  • Blank screen after a change in the motherboard's Bios

    Hi,
Recently, I have bought a MSI motherboard - 865PE Neo2 FIS2R. The computer works fine after I installed all the components and applications (including Windows XP [included Service Pack 1], Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility and all the drivers), as well as updating the bios to the most recent version.
However, after I changed one of the bios settings as follows:
    1. Select Frequency/Voltage Control.
    2. Select Performance Mode
    3. Select Ultra-Turbo
then I try to quit and choose Exit & Save Changes and press the Enter key on the keyboard. Immediately after, the screen fails to show anything.
The reset button on the computer case also fails to response (the reset button works before this incident). So, I shut down the computer, wait for a while and then power it up again, the monitor still does not show anything. Also, I do not hear any special beep sound. At that time, all the fans in the case (including CPU fan, system fans, power fans and video card fan) are moving. Here are the things that I have also tried:
    1) I have tried the monitor and video card separately on another computer and both the monitor and video card work fine.
    2) Also, I have tried to clear the CMOS following the procedure mentioned in the manual jumper but the screen still fails to show anything.
    Here is my computer's configuration:
    Motherboard  :  865PE Neo2 FIS2R (Bios version 1.4)
    CPU :           Intel Pentium 4 2.8CGHz (800 FSB)
    Memory :        Crucial PC3200 512MB CL3 (two of these)
Graphic card :  128MB Crucial Radeon 9800 Pro
    Hard disk :     IBM DTLA-307030
Case :          Thermaltake Xaser III V1000A Black
    Power Supply :  TruePower 380 12V AC 380W ATX TRUE380PGB
Therefore, may I know if the problem is solvable and what caused the problem. Also, I have just bought the motherboard for about 2 weeks, should I go back to the retailer to get a replacement?
Thank you anyone whom may help.

The difference in the performance modes above SLOW is the DRAM SPD timings used ...seems yours is unstable at the Ultra-turbo settings (you may be able to use this setting if you increase your DDR voltage slightly though (I use 2.7v for my CORSAIR)) ...only trouble is gaining access to the BIOS to do this
A few things you can try:-
Use only a single stick of memory -go into BIOS and increase the DDR voltage or reduce the performance setting
If that fails and you have another type of DDR available try using a single stick of that instead (DDR 2700 has worked for me in the past) ...this will force your motherboard to boot at the SLOW timings -you can then enter the bios and increase the DDR voltage, save, shutdown and reinstall your memory.
Try booting with the "Insert" key pressed to force the BIOS defaults to be used
Remove the power cord press the "start" button a few times (to discharge any power left in the PSU) remove the CMOS battery and set the jumper to the "CLEAR" position ...have a cup of tea (or coffee) ...reset the jumper, install the battery, insert the power cord, cross your fingers and BOOT?

  • Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 stuck on toshiba logo after bios change

My Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 is stuck on toshiba logo after bios change.
entered bios fine changes from UEFI to CSM boot and now i cannot enter bios or boot past toshiba logo.
Ive tried F2 tapping and holding while powering up the laptop(tried every Fkey,DEL,ESC, with and without FN key)
    cannot re-enter bios.
Also i tried to run the bios update cd created multiple  1.50 1.40 even 1.00, it doesnt seem to read any media.
i tried holding C, FN+C and f and just about every key on the keyboard to get something to work. i had dvd as top of boot priority for a while now so i shouldnt have to try f12 or holding C before boot but i tried . it doesnt seem to read any media
i tried windows 8 install cd, Ubuntu, centos, nothing goes past toshiba logo and no errors, i dont get the non bootable device error so its seems to not be reading the dvd. (dvd does spin and make read noises) im trying to find my usb floppy drive to try a floppy version but it acts like its not reading any media.
I also pulled the HDD and all usb devices to make the dvd the only media available and with the HDD out it spins then toshiba logo then black screen with solid white  horizontal curser on top left of screen.(only happens when hdd out)
is there some type of key combination that will force a bios update or a crisis recovery mode for bios.
I also Pulled the battery for 2 solid days(battery, cmos battery, and power supply and held power button for about 10 mins while watching tx to make sure the thing was drained before the 2 day sit with no power at all.
this happened the second i changed from UEFI to CSM boot so its not a motherboard problem or anything like that because all was well before this setting change.
I already pulled the HDD and backed it up to another drive and swapped it to elimiate that.
any ideas on a secret key combo to force a bios read from dvd or usb or anythng.
or another combo that im just missing to enter bios after CSM boot.
    UPDATE
to do a crisis recovery on this laptop
1 get a usb stick and format it in fat or fat32
2 download "7zip" and install it if you dont have it.
3 download bios from toshiba website.
4 run the installer for bios but dont choose and option just close it we just want to extract the files to the location normally  c:\splnvxxx where xxx is the version number like 150
5 goto the installed locaion "c:\splnv150" or whatever number.
    6. find file os2014273a_150 or something similar. it will be an application, it will end in version number _150, and it will also have a disc image file of the same name. but we want the app.
    7. right click on it and you should have an option 7zip then extract
once extracted there is a folder now archesxxxxxx_bios_v150_win
8 copy the bios file located in archesxxxxxblahblah/X64/BIOS.fd , BIOS.fd is the bios and just copy that to a BLANK usb thumb drive that was formatted with fat or fat32.
    9. put usb into your satellite and unplug the power from it.
10 holding FN + ESC key together plug the power back in and press power button.
    11. release keys FN and ESC if all is right it will have the power button and led on from blink abut every 1 second while it searches for the bios. once its done it will reboot and you should be good to go.
if it keeps cycling with the power button then the bios is named wrong or something is not right with the usb. try reformatting it again and make sure that the bios file is the ONLY thing on the drive.

Ok a little research and digging into the bios exe downloaded from toshiba shows this has INSYDE BIOS witch should have a recovery process wich i prepared a usb stick with just the bios.fd on it found some post around toshiba forums with different models using win +B or Fn + F but neither of these worked for me to force bios update
anyone with this model know the key combo to force recovery

my ipod was stolen and i finnaly was able to get into my account after they changed the password is there a way i can fid the locaition of my ipod even if it has died ?

No.  The only way is if the FindMyiPod feature was already set up and wifi is on.  However, that can be defeted by turning the iPod off or restoring it. If they have access to the iPod then can just turn the feature off.
If the iPod off/battery drained how would you expect there t be a way of finding it?
    Apple will not help.
