Synching aperture across 2 macs

This post is really to aid others who may have the same problem I have had (and the other posts about this subject are too old for me to be able to post a reply).
I have a MBP and a Mac pro, and wanted to sync the libraries on each machine, using my Mac pro as the master library after a photo shoot on location. Hope this helps others who are looking to understand and use this feature, and who have problems as I did finding where to look for the information.

I believe you cannot sync Aperture Libraries on 2 different Macs.
The best way I have found at the moment is to keep the pictures referenced (on external HD) and I keep Libraries with the same name on the 2 Macs with reference to the same external HD. The libraries are saved on the 2 Macs into the same Directory (say \APLIB). Each time I do some work with the Macbookpro and I come back home I simply copy the relevant library to the iMac and I do the same from iMac to MacBookpro before leaving home. For safety I also keep a copy of the referenced masters also on a second HD but you need to use only the right one with Aperture. I also do the same with vaults. At the moment this sytem works for me: I would like to try even a better system, that is keep the Libraries also on the external HD but I am not sure if you can do that. And in that case you even could not see the pictures without the external HD.
I would appreciate suggestions on this matter from a more expert user.

Well, without more information about whether you're using POP because it's free, it's the only option your employer offers, etc., etc., it's hard to say what the best solution for you will be.
POP is optimized for users who access their mail from the same computer everytime. Its default behavior is to download the mail to the computer and then delete it from the server. To get the mail to another computer, you will have to synchronize all of your mailboxes between the computers, which will be a big hassle, easy to forget to do regularly, and easy to mess up, especially if you get mail regularly and use both computers often. You can tell POP servers to keep the mail on the server, but many POP servers have low limits on how much data you can store. If you're using a POP account because it's free, then there's a tricky work-around you could use, if you're not willing to find a free provider that uses the IMAP protocol. Set up a second POP account, then access the first account from the same computer every time, and set up that account to forward every mail you receive to the second account. Then access the second account from the second computer every time. This is an ugly solution, especially if you get a lot of mail, because you'll have to repeat filing/deleting actions on the second computer.
The short answer is that if you really need to access your e-mail from two computers regularly, you should use an IMAP account. Alternatively, use a web reader to access your POP mail. If you must use a POP account and don't want to use a web-based e-mail client, then you can copy the mailbox files from one computer to the other. You'll have to keep very careful track of which computer last accessed the account and is the up-to-date machine. I don't recommend this, because there's a lot of danger that you will accidentally delete mail you don't intend to.
Maybe if you provide a little more information about your mail provider (which will give us an idea of what options may be available to you - for example, Gmail allows one-time download by a second computer) any special circumstances, or specific needs you have, etc., someone can offer more useful information.

Podcast synching on multiple macs with same account

How do I get my podcasts to synch on multiple macs and therefore ipods with same itunes authorized account, ie the subscriptions I have on home computer don't show up on my work itunes account and therefore when I'ved watched flying one way, when I land I want to load the next set of episodes, but find the need to create entirely new subscriptions?

I was able to resolve the problem using addMessageCountListener and messagesAdded method, as suggested by you.
I am now facing another problem. Whenever a new message is received, code inside messagesAdded method gets executed. Here I am trying to spawn another thread and do some stuff. But this new thread is not starting at all. It goes into some JavaMail:EventQueue and does nothing. What is the concept of EventQueue here? How can I get this new thread executed?
Also will there be synchronization problems in messagesAdded method. Say I received a message and I am processing it in the messagesAdded method. In the mean time another message comes up. How will this behave.

Check your contacts aren't in another group other than iCloud, only iCloud contacts will sync.

Open iTunes, and under View, select "Show Sidebar". The old sidebar you are used to will show up, and everything will work the way it did under the old iTunes.

Will "Reminders" on my iPh4 (OS5) synch with my Mac?

If I use the new "Reminders" app in iOS 5 on my iPhone 4, will these reminders be synched or backed-up with an iTunes synch? (I synch with Office Mac '11 Outlook for Calender, Contacts & Notes)? I am reading that they will be backed up and (potentially) synched thru iCloud, but I am not using iCloud (yet) because my Mac is still running Snow Leopard (and will be for awhile), so I don't see any advantage to iCloud if my only potential synch target is my Mac, which can't use iCloud until I upgrade. But maybe the need to back-up Remindes is a reason to use iCloud, if they're not backed-up any other way?? Comments appreciated.

Reminders are part of the iPhone backup, wherever it goes (iCloud, Mac via cable or Mac via iTunes). However, I haven't found an app that they sync with. They do appear in iCloud, but I've found it to be "quirky", in that Reminders in iCloud have different fields and capabilities than those on the iPhone.

Try to download your MobileMe content from your me.com web page:
Ope your System Preferences, then select the "Mobile Me" pane / Accounts panel.
There press the "Visit Me.com" button and download your Mobile Me contents. Then sign out of Mobile Me.
When you relaunch Aperture and the "Mobile Me" has been discontinued panel pops up don't use the "ok" button, but click the "Learn more" button. Ignore the web page, and open the Aperture preferences.
In the "Web > Accounts" tab of the preferences remove the "Mobile Me" account.

Aperture and .Mac Gallery

Hi there! I downloaded the trial version of Aperture 2 on my G5 Dual 2.0Ghz. With my X800 XT it sounds to work faster the the first version, but I have got some troubles with .Mac gallery. I have installed Little Snitch on my G5, and when I run Aperture, it asks me the authorization for logging to .Mac gallery. Well, I allow the connection, but Aperture becomes unusable, absolutely slow. From the monitor network of little snitch I see that there is always an exchange of data from Aperture to .Mac gallery. This strange connection is always active even if I don't have any .Mac gallery in my library, or when the .Mac gallery is already published. I already checked that if I don't allow the connection, no data are sent ore received and the speed of Aperture is good. Can anyone tell me how it's possible that?

I've been researching the same issue. I have a .mac account and have been playing with iPhoto '08, creating albums and publishing them on my .dot mac Web Gallery. I love the features of the Web Gallery (syncing, downloading pics, other people uploading pics, subscribing). All of these features at the touch of the Web Gallery button at the bottom corner of iPhoto have made me a Mac Convert!
That said, I like the "expanded" features offered in Aperture (referencing to masters, editing, seemless editing with Photoshop, better templates for albums and web stuff). However, I recently created an "Album", a new "Web Gallery" from that album and then clicked the "Publish to .mac" button. Voila! It sent it to Homepage in .mac instead of "My Gallery" (the one I set up via iPhoto). Both are visible in my .mac account, but there should be a way to publish my Aperture album/web gallery to "My Gallery" instead of Homepage. I'm trying to avoid importing the Aperture photos into iPhoto because it copies them into iPhoto creating a nasty disk space issue for me. In fact, that's one of the major reasons I wanted to use Aperture (so I could simply "reference" the photos on an external drive).
Let me know if you hear of any solutions.

If you're using a PowerPC Mac, no.
If you're using an Intel Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

Are you sure this is what the error message says?
Your iPad is recognized by iTunes and when selecting sync, does the error message say that your iPad is locked and you must unlock it in order to sync?
