Synching apps

How do I get apps from iphone and ipad to automatically sync on my Mac?

Because one is a computer and one is a tablet.
You can also have different OS versions on devices.

  • Itunes 12.01.26 Crashes Synching Apps on NAS

I am extremely disappointed that Apples has still not provided a fix to
iTunes crashing when it starts to synch apps following the release of iTunes 12
The crash happens every time I try to sync and just because my iTunes Library
    iOS on a NAS Server
All worked fine until after iTunes 11.4
Shame on Apple for not getting round to fix this issue as there are an
enormous amount of discussion forms and people who have reported this to Apple
We run numerous Apple devices but following this issue and the debacle with
IOS 8.01 we are now considering getting rid of all our apple devises
We still have two iPhones that are updated to IOS 8.02 that are showing they
need to update to 8.01 !!
APPLE WE NEED AN ANSWER TO THE iTunes SYNCHING APPS ON A NAS SERVER LIBRUARY
    NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Lee Earle,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with iTunes on OS X. The following resources provide some great trobuleshooting and isolation steps:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
There are several ways in which an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
    - Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer.
    - Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface.
    - Slow performance.
    - iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly.
    - You see an alert while syncing stating "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you notice any of the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any plug-ins not manufactured by Apple by opening iTunes in Safe Mode. This is done by holding down the Option and Command keys (on Mac OS X) or holding down the Shift and Control keys (on Windows) while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see the following dialog before iTunes finishes starting up:
"iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
Isolating an issue by using another user account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4053
    Symptoms
When isolating issues and/or troubleshooting software issues in OS X, you might want to use a different user account. Learn how to use this technique to narrow down the cause of an issue.
    Resolution
The issue at hand may simply be caused by a bad preference setting or user-specific data file. With proper isolation, you can avoid time-consuming and inappropriate troubleshooting methods.
    Thanks,

  • IPhone and synching Apps

I have a number of Apps ion my iPhone that I have purchased and installed via the iPhone. I am now synching to a new computer. Music is fine, However, when I checked the synch Apps bos I was warned that all my apps would be repaced by what is on the computer. I have carefully arranged my apps on my iPhone the way I want them. Is there a way to have the iPhone control the iTunes instead of the other waty?

Connect the phone but do not sync. Then choose "Transfer Purchases..." on the File menu in iTunes. Once the apps are on your computer you can sync and they should not be deleted.

  • ITunes dont want to synch apps in 3GS

Two days ago, when performing a synch between iTunes and my 3GS iPhone, I noticed that the apps are in gray and it doesnt allow me to make any changes.  Why is this? How can I synch apps from my Mac to my 3GS ?

I created a lot of Itunes account
Why did you create "a lot" of iTunes accounts?
You only need one iTunes account.

  • Synching apps with 2 user accounts, 3 devices and one computer only

    I have a question that I can't find a clear answer.
I previous had one iPod touch and one iPad that I synched with my iTunes library. No problem. But now the wife has finally purchased a verizon iPhone and I want to be able to use my vast app collection for her phone.
Scenario is we each have separate user accounts (so we can maintain our own calendars and contacts, ect.). We each have our own ITunes accounts and our own iTunes libraries by default. She will not be purchasing much on her account though.
How do I, without creating a can of worms, create one library to sync to so I can put apps and music on her phone without erasing any of her separate information. I have read a lot on the subject and there does not seem to be a clear answer anywhere. Yes, I have read ht1495 but that does not seem to be exactly on point
Basically, I have 3 devices, 2 user accounts and 2 iTunes accounts but one computer only. I want to be able to have all iTunes stuff available on both user accounts and be able to have both people be able to read and write to the same library. I am sure there are plenty of people running into this issue with more and more people getting iPhones with verizon. It seems that it is easier to do with multiple computers than one computer.
So, I am looking for help or advice on the easiest way to accomplish this task.

In a way, each iTunes libary is considered to be a different account. Your daughter's iTunes account doesn't have access to your wife's data which has all the verification data.
One option would not only to place the library in a Shared area, but also the verification data. I poked around and am not sure where it's stored. It's a good discussion to have with an Apple store Genius if you have one nearby.

  • Synching apps from PC to iTunes/IPhone or iTouch

In the past, I've had issues transferring apps from my new or replacement iPhone to iTunes. Apps would not get synched and everything was lost on both the device and in iTunes.
Soon, I plan to buy an iTouch 4G and I have an entire catalogue of apps on iTunes that I want to synch with the iTouch.
Is there any way to enusre that my apps will be synched TO device without the device deleting OR forcing me to create a brand new profile on iTunes where I wont be able to retrieve and synch my apps from iTunes TO the device?

    .

    Same for the ipod touch.
The apps should be in itunes on your computer. If they are not then put them there.
You ipod backs up some info with every sync ( not apps/music/etc, which is hy you need to be sure the apps/music/etc is in itunes on your computer).

  • Synch app iPhone iTunes

I just got a new mac and when trying to synchronise my iPhone, I cannot synch my applications, the format is different on the iTunes (I have four fixed app on the bottom, and iTunes on the new computer has only 3). I wouldn´t like to get rid of the four app, but I would like to synch the app in the future and not to have to get back to my old computer
Note on the old computer I had 10.2.2 (14) and on the new one 10.2.2. (12) but it doesn´t find any updates.

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When syncing an iPhone with an iTunes library on a new or a different computer and the same for transferring photos, all iTunes content and photos transferred from another computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
After installing a new hard drive, your MB is detected as a new or different computer.
If the Genius Bar was able to recover your entire iTunes named folder from the failed hard drive, which stores your entire iTunes library including 3rd party apps, and placed the iTunes named folder in the same location on your new hard drive, this wouldn't be a problem.
Since all 3rd party apps were obviously not recovered from your failed drive, you have a couple of options. Assuming you have re-authorized your MB with your iTunes account with iTunes, with your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If all 3rd party apps on your iPhone do not transfer to your new iTunes library on your MB, you can re-download the apps with iTunes on your MB and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.

  • Need Help Badly - still unable to make iTunes synch apps with iPad

iTunes 10.1.2, MSWindows. iPad WiFi/3G 64Gb. Cannot get all apps on iTunes to transfer to iPad so cannot restore an app I had to delete on iPad. Number of apps on iTunes doesn't match in quantity. Also, specific apps that are deleted from iPad still show up in iTunes. I download to the iPad from AppStore and then synch them to iTunes. Have read ALL tech bulletins, searched this site, searched other sites, etc. Rest of synching appears to work fine. has been going on for over a month. Similar threads on this site don't appear to have solutions either.
Have tried to drag specific app icon in iTunes to Device iPad, no luck, has circle with slash. I do NOT use automatic synching so the iTunes deleting critical files issue during synch doesn't wipe the iPad. I synch manually by Device iPad right-clicking and synch. Transfer purchases says it works but the new purchases on the iPad don't show up in iTunes. I tried resetting synch history in preferences but synching again didn't act any different. In fact, that first synch didn't act like the warning said it would (will act as if synching for first time).
I am completely at a loss. I love the iPad but it is now physically impossible to keep it synchronized with iTunes.

I am going to be no help, except to say that I have similar issues. iTunes shows apps as loaded on my iPad but those apps are not on the iPad. Problem seems to involve a random selection of apps. I've synched, reset, and tried several ways to delete and reinstall but can't figure out a solution.. Strangely the same missing apps are working fine on my iPhone 4!
I had some trouble with videos not working, which has happened twice, but an iOS restore resolved that issue. I only add that in case the issues are related.

  • ITunes freezing while synching apps!

k the apps on my iPhone have stopped working so i deleted them all and wanted them to synch back on but now iTunes froze and doesnt response but my iPhone still says "synching" should i leave it alone or should i force iTunes to close and try it again?
    impatient dude needs help ^^

It's happened to me as well. I checked the ipad and it had some questions and set up for the iCloud. Now I can see/use the ipad, but iTunes says it's still syncing apps. AND I can't open any apps. They open and immediately crash. I can't lose everything off here. Please help.

  • Trouble synching apps

i have recently bought a 32gb itouch off of my friend, i have synched music from my itunes library fine. However his apple ID keeps popping up on my itouch even though i have already signed in on the app store, also i am unable to sync the apps in my library to the itouch
if anyone has any suggestions on how i can get rid of his apple ID or how i can sync these apps it would be appreciated, thanks

It appears that there are apps on the iPod that were purchased with the account that pops up.  Delete those apps. Those are licensed to the person who purchased them and not to you.  They do not transfer with the purchase of he iPod.
Are your apps on the computer compatible with the model iPod and iOS on the iPod?  Are restrictions invoked (Settings>General>Restrictions) on the iPod that is preventing their syncing?  Are the correct boxes checked to sync the apps to the iPod?

  • Can't synch apps

    Hello
So today I've become a proud owner of one of the Ipod Touch. Brilliant.
So I started trying out all features of it, but when it comes to apps, it won't give a bunch.
See, I can view and drag and drop any App I downloaded from the store, but it just won't sync. Downloading manually from the iPod itself doesn't work either (indicates an invalid link).
Obviously, one of the enthusiast part is the app world. But this isn't really working...
I was hoping someone could help me out:) since I only had problems already with iTunes itself, figuring out how it works....
    Thanks in advance:)
    Alec
    iPod 4G enthusiast

    Thnx for the reply spyglass.
But no, I didn't purchase any app on my Touch. If I want to download an app directly to my Touch, everytime I go to the iTunes store it say it's an invalid link.
But when I download apps from my PC and I wish to transfer those to my Touch, nothing happens...
Eveything thats related with synching the iPod with apps is greyed out. So I can't click anything. And when I try to drag and drop, it just indicates it's not possible. With no error message or anything at all.

  • Why aren't there more data-synching apps for iPhone?

I've been watching as new apps get added to the App Store (I've bought 20+ already, and got a bunch of free ones) and I'm surprised that people/companies aren't developing more apps that sync data. I'm thinking of things like ToDos and Notes. I see a bunch of apps to manage ToDos on the iPhone itself, but nothing "industrial strength", like Documents to Go and others that have been popular on other platforms. I see that Doc2Go does have a product coming for the iPhone, but it looks like they've left out Note synching, so that hole will remain.
Another data-synching niche would be for an iPhone app that syncs with products like Quicken, where you can have your entire financial portfolio available, and you could make updates on either side and then sync them.
Yet another - and probably most versatile and robust - would be an iPhone version of FileMaker Pro (or some other DBMS) where you could create data structures on the iPhone (or sync them from a bigger computer) and then add/edit/delete data on either side and sync them.
If it's just due to software developers ramping up to the iPhone platform, then I'm not concerned. What I do wonder about is if there are issues with either the SDK or the OS itself that make this type of application nearly impossible to develop. So far the iPhone doesn't seem as "open" as other platforms in terms of data management. I don't know what kind of file system it uses -- whether it's HFS+ or what, but I imagine that would be an important factor in developing data-intensive applications.
Anyway, I'm hoping eventually to see the business-oriented apps on the iPhone that will free my from my old HP iPaq.

Well one restriction is the the SDK does not allow access to the 30pin dock. So they cannot write anything that can transfer/sync like iTunes does.
Also this means some type of app must also be installed on your computer. Not to big of a deal, just means for stuff like Quicken they have to update their product as well to work with the iPhone. And since the iPhone's port is not allowed to be touched, they are going to have to do it over WiFi. Not too big of a deal but then you have to deal with users who don't understand their own routers or firewalls to open ports to allow such talking. Like some of the VNC apps on the AppStore to allow you to access your computer remotely. There are tons of bad comments about not working, but that is because users don't understand they also need a VNC server on their computer, they have to setup firewall to open port, and may also need port forwarding depending on their setup. Things many home users just don't understand.
So while possible (and I agree would be a nice setup for an app) the SDK restricts talking via the dock, so an App to work over WiFi really is only way, but is also very doable I think and a good idea.
Just so you know, the better forum to bring this up in is the Developers Forum ( http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=164 ) May get better respnoses there and maybe get somebody to make something for you.
