Synching audiobooks

I can't get 2 audiobooks into the "audiobook" folder on my video ipod. It is in "recently purchased", but I can't get them moved to the folder called "audiobook". Thanks for any help.

Get info on the tracks of the audio book, then select options and you will see that you can set it to treate the files as an audiobook and also remember your position in them.

  • Previously synched audiobook disappears from IPod

I downloaded an audiobook purchased from Audible through Amazon last year. At that time I synched it to my IPod. Now it has disappeared from the IPod, but still shows up in ITunes. How do I get it to sync again? I tried syncing only what was checked and being sure that the audiobook was checked, but it still didn't sync although my checked music, podcasts, etc. did. What else should I try?
    Thanks.

Yeah I'm running into the exact same frustration. It seems like iTunes keeps losing authorization to play my audible book (despite me giving it a user name and password) and at first, it synchs as expected. But then, several synchs later, it seems to deauthorize itself and although the book is still in the audiobooks library it removes itself from my iPod Touch. At least, until I click on the book in iTunes and, again, authorize this computer again. Frustrating, to say the least - maybe someday the book will actually be on my iPod when I plan on listening to it?

  • Trouble synching audiobooks to ipod nano

Sunday I just barely figured out how to synch music to my ipod.
Now I decided to buy an audio book and I cannot figure out how to synch it to my ipod.

On my ipod if I click settings I will find the audiobook tab. But once I hit the audiobook tab I only see 3 options. Slower, Normal and Faster.
Is it even possible to download audiobooks to the ipod nano?

  • Problems synching Audiobooks to iphone 4

I just don't understand how Apple handles audiobooks. I have a variety of books which have been either ripped from CDs or downloaded from Audible. The ripped books are in my library by following the steps below:
    1. Insert disk; join tracks; hit import
    2. When the whole book is on the hard drive, select all files; get info; change media type to audiobook
    3. Create smart playlist with two criteria - 1) album name; 2) plays=0
When I plug in my phone, under the book tab, the playlist/book will appear in either "Audiobooks" or "Include Audiobooks from Playlists." Sometimes this will be in one; sometimes the other; sometimes both. Can't figure out a pattern.
When I synch my phone, my books often, but not always, show up under the Audiobook icon. Sometimes they show up under "Playlist" and then under "books."
Does anyone know how to make this more dependable?
Does anyone know why itunes separates the two locations for audiobooks?
    TIA

If you find out I'd love to know the answer.  I use Overdrive to download audiobooks from the public library.  All of the audio books I download are going to my iphone under playlists, yet when I go to iTunes they show up under books.

  • Synch Audiobooks:  How to get them off my iPhone but keep them in iTunes?

I'd like to keep my audiobooks on iTunes but not have them take up space on my iPod and iPhone. How do I delete them from just the iPod & iPhone?

If you set your iphone to manually manage on the summary screen, you can drag and drop what you want to the iphone and delete directly from the iphone.
The option to manually manage is on the summary screen when you connect the iphone to itunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem synching audiobooks with iTunes

I had lost audiobooks and the Apple support person reinstated them yesterday so they could be downloaded to my Windows computer.  However, I can't get them to download (sync) with my iPhone 5S.  What am I doing wrong?

You'll need to sync them from the Books tab of your device when it is connected to iTunes. Scroll down to find the Audiobooks section.
Audiobooks from the iTunes Store are sold on a one download only basis. Backup your library as they may not be able to help again next time.

  • The audio books synching is broken

I listen to an audio book from Audible on my iPod Nano 6G.  Then I synch that with iTunes.  Then I synch with my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4.  They do not reflect the reading position from the iPod Nano.
This sort of loosing synch has happenen many times before between iTunes updates.  Usually fixed in the next iTunes update.  When will that happen to fix this problem?

For Itunes 10.6 and Iphone 4s with  iOS 5.1  update (3/10/12)
Apple and updates, they always change what was working fine. Here one night I go to synch a new book, I plug in my Iphone 4s, synch and find nothing on my Iphone in my 'Playlist => Audible'    Where are my books?
Abstract: You can't synch your audio books to your Iphone 4s, Ipad or Ipod after the iOS 5.1 update
    * You have to manually check 'Manage Music and Video's, apply the changes.
Then uncheck this box, apply the changes. After that, You can synch audiobooks.
I noticed when I went to synch a new Audio book from Audible, it didn't synch
I have all my audio books un checked so they don't automatically synch.
For the ones I want to listen to, I check, then Synch my Iphone 4S
After the dual Apple Itunes Update and OS patch I noticed something different.
Perviously in my Iphone4s to see my Audio Books they were in a Playlist called 'Audible'
Now they are also in another place. From your 'Playlist Menu' choose 'More' in the bottom right corner.
There you see 'AudioBooks' here also
So you have two options to synch books
Me I prefer not to have all my 80 books synch. When I choose 'Random on music' nothing breaks the mood more than going from a cool tone to 'This is Audible' and a book start playing. So I uncheck all my Audio Books and only check the one I want to synch. That way there is only 1 book on my Iphone.
If you plug in your 4S, Click on your Phone , and scrool down and ensure 'Synch only Checked' songs and Videos'
You don't need to check 'Manually Manage Music and Videos' unless you actually need to. I prefere at all cost to let Itunes manage my music. But if you have a small Ipod/Nano/Iphone and lots of music, and you only want to synch small parts of your library, then Check this box.  Luckily I have a 64gb Iphone 4s and 30gb of Music, so I can keep it all in in one synch.

  • Audiobook has been synched from computer to iPad but not showing up on iPad anywhere

Why are audiobooks treated completely differently as a song ?
When i download a song from iTunes it goes right into my iTunes library.
How come the same thing doesn't happen when i purchase an audiobook ?!?!?!?
Went on a road trip with just my iPhone and iPad Air.
For the trip home, i wanted to listen to an AudioBook.
Went into iTunes, bought and successfully downloaded an AudioBook.
Where did / does it go ?
I can't find it - a nice informative popup would be helpful.
2 days later and i still can't find it - altho my credit card has been charged for it.
It didn't appear in my Music app.
No new AudioBook tab appeared anywhere.
No new Genre appeared in my music area.
Went back to iTunes - AudioBooks - looked at the AudioBooks - said I already downloaded it !?!?!
So the next day, an 8 hour trip without listening to the AudioBook was a strike against Apple.
Also got an audible email ping letting me know that I was now being charged for this invisible book.
Got home, have been looking online for an answer, still nothing that's worked !!
Hooked up my iPad to my computer to try and manually synch things up.
Went into iTunes, selected my iPad device and looked at the Books section.
It lists my AudioBook but there is only a dotted outline icon around it.
On computer, went back into iTunes, looked for Recent Purchases - saw my audiobook and downloaded it onto my computer.
Then I synch'd my iPad with my computer and saw it move the AudioBook onto my iPad.
Now i thought I finally had it.
In iTunes, still on my computer, i went to my iPad device tab, went to the "On This iPad" tab, clicked Books and voila - i see that my purchased AudioBook is now listed on my iPad.
Same question - WHERE IS IT ON THE iPAD ?!?!?!?
On my iPad - it isn't showing up in iBooks [since it wasn't an iBooks purchase I'm not surprised but i'm annoyed so am looking anywhere].
It isn't showing up on the desktop.
It isn't showing up in iTunes.
And it isn't showing in the Music App.
I could've gone to a bookstore, purchased it and read it in the amount of time i'm spending trying to find an answer.
    Pretty annoyed by this experience.
According to my laptop version of iTunes, on the iPad tab, the audiobook exists on my iPad - how do i finally get to listen to it on my iPad, where is it ?

I only have 1 Apple ID and all my devices know about each other.

  • New itunes no longer synchs my new music, audiobooks, TV shows, etc...does synch itunes U and photos...most of the music is from my own CD's

I never had a problem until "upgrading" to latest itunes.  Nearly all my music (over 4k songs) is from CD's.  itunes still recognizes each ipod/ipad and does not delete what's already on (including audiobooks that I have unchecked once I have listened to them).  It still allegedly "synchs", but only itunesU and photos get updated.  I can get around the audiobook problem via Audible's app, but I do have new music on itunes in the computer that won't transfer.

Just an update, following last nights USB sync all music shows as In the library on my iPhone, however only the same 500 or so songs are playable, the rest go from appearing to be in the library to going into the cloud and starting to download when manually selected. If on shuffle the music skips over them. The iPhone  memory usage shows only about 10gb used most of which is for the iOS/apps, so once again my music library is not on my iPhone. Apple have managed to take a great product and turn it into a steaming pile of turd.

  • Why do I need 45.6GB free on my iPod 160GB to be able to synch my podcasts and audiobooks?

Previously when synching my iPod 160 the capacity bar on would always show a large amount 'over' after clicking 'Apply' to apply changes made during podcast/audiobook selection. However, today it went over, but refused to synch stating that I had 23GB too much in my iTunes folder to allow for synching. After some mucking about I deleted about 30GB off my iPod and it will now synch. But I now have 45.6GB free and my regular updating of files is going to be much more annoying as I can't, as far as I know keep podcasts on different update/archiving settings. I.e. Some I only want new episodes for, others I want the entire archive.
An answer to either question would be appreciated. The synching issue with overflow prior to synch as been with me since iTunes 9 something or other, so it's not a version issue, but the overflow only became a problem today or yesterday, and it wasn't the iTunes update that did it (I only performed that today when I was struggling with this issue).

I am experiencing the exact same issue. It says my phone storage is full but its not. And all of my apps crash when I try to open them. I can't back up my phone via itunes or icloud.

  • How can I synch my audiobook?

I have a new fifth generation 80GB iPod. As the cable that comes with the new iPod is USB 2.0 and my home computer, an eMac, has only Firewire and USB 1.1, I used my work computer, an iBook, which is my personal property, to synch the iPod. All my music files are on an external hard drive. I hooked the external hard drive to the iBook, made a new account on the iBook (so that I could still use the small iTunes library that resides in my regular account on the iBook) and loaded the iTunes library from the external hard drive to the new account on the iBook. Then, while the hard drive was still connected to the iBook, I hooked the iPod to the iBook and loaded it up with my library. I was able to do this with my iCal and Address Book data and to drag photo files between the two computers via Firewire when I restarted the eMac as a Target Disk. It all worked, and I was thrilled! Now I have just purchased an audiobook. I bought it while logged on to the eMac, as usual, and assumed it would be loaded onto to hard drive. But when I later hooked up the hard drive to the iBook, it did not appear as part of the iTunes library on the second account on the iBook. Can someone please tell me why it's not working? It is a lengthy book and cost me nearly $40! I am legit, as I own both computers and simply want to get the audiobook onto the iPod so that I can listen to it while walking. What's the hitch?

Both the ipad and iphone are designed to be used with a computer.  Neither is a stand alone device.
Both are intended to be synced to your computer.
You should be syncing your ipad with a computer and the iphone.

  • Itunes audiobooks won't "synch all"

I have many audiobooks (43) all purchased from iTunes, on my iTunes. But only the same 12 will synch to my iPod nanos--both my old old one and my brand new one--7th generation.  I have plenty of memory--11.4 GB left on the iPod. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Connect the iPhone to the computer via USB, then select it in the "DEVICES" section of iTunes. Select the "Music" tab. Enable "Sync music". To sync Audiobooks, choose "All songs and playlists", or choose "Selected playlists" and enable "Audiobooks".
To make file into an audiobook, select it in iTunes, use "Get Info" ("File" menu or via right-click), click the "Options" tab, set "Media Kind" to "Audiobook", and click the "OK" button.

  • Unwanted Audiobooks stay on the iPhone in iTunes synch.

Unwanted Audiobooks stay on the iPhone in iTunes synch.

Any restrictions active in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them and see if you can delete them after that.

  • Synching place in audiobooks between multiple iPods/iPhones/iPads

Is it possible to have your place in an audiobook by synched via the "cloud" in such a way that you can use several mobile devices and pick up where you left off no matter which mobile device you were using? This might also be useful for movies or iBooks as well.

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply (this option isn't available for 1st or 2nd generation iPod shuffles which aren't designed for use with multiple computers). The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • How to delete audiobook from iPod after completely deleting it from iTunes library and synching it?

I no longer have the CD from the book. It isn't on my PC, but it's still on my iPod Touch. Any suggestions??
