Synching data from iPhone 2g to iPhone 3g

I am attempting to transfer my friends data (contacts, music, texts, pictures, etc.) from an old iPhone 2g to an iPhone 3g on her laptop. The 3g had its data cleared and OS 3.1.3 reinstalled on my computer. I didn't sync anything onto the 3g.
On her laptop, I synched the iPhone 2g to iTunes and when I connect the 3g, since the phone was installed with my computer, I was never prompted to select a backup. There is an option to Sync but am afraid of what will happen if I press it.
Two questions, if I Sync the 3g, what will happen (will the data from the 2g iPhone transfer to the 3g/will the blank 3g overwrite the old iphone 2g data)? What would be the recommended way to transfer the data from the 2g to the 3g?

Connect your 2G to your computer, itunes running, right click the phone in the device pane & select "Backup". This will insure your backup is current. When finished, eject the phone & connect your 3G. Right click in the device pane & select restore, restore from backup, select the 2G backup you just made. Follow this by syncing your itunes content back to your phone.

I believe that when you boot your computer for the first time and you are following the onscreen instructions you are prompted whether you want to transfer data from an old mac or PC. If you click 'transfer from an old mac' and follow the onscreen instructions, this may work.
If you have already skipped this step you could use iCloud to transfer data. If you make sure that everything you want to transfer is synced in iCloud, this may also work.

I can't transfer my data from macbook pro to iphone 5?????
Is there anyone to help me?
    Thanks in advance.

This should work, how did you do? Explain ‘I can’t transfer my files’. You are in the new mac, the older mac is connected via wl network or eth, it is detected and mounted, and does not work?
Firewire would be better, probably with a 400-to-800 fw adapter (6 to 9 pin).

  • How do I recover Apps Data from the iCloud on iPhone 4S with IOS 6.1?

How do I recover Apps Data from the iCloud on iPhone 4S with IOS 6.1?

You would have to restore to your entire iCloud backup, if you have one.  (The backup includes app data.)  Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process.  If you have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that you want to save you'll need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • I just buy a new iphone 4S, i wanna sync my data from 3GS to new iphone but i forget the password for the 3GS

i just buy a new iphone 4S, i wanna sync my data from 3GS to new iphone but i forget the password for the 3GS

Connect your 3GS in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • Migrating data from old to new iPhone?

I have an older (1st gen) iPhone and am planning to upgrade to a new 3GS next week. Is there an easy way to migrate my data from one phone to the other? By "data," I mean things like:
    - Application settings
    - Stored WiFi networks
    - Paired Bluetooth devices
    - Layout of icons
    - etc.
(I know that the standard stuff like songs, contacts, e-mail, are all pretty easy to move.)
Is there a way to just tell iTunes to migrate everything over to the new phone? (And, if so, what is included in "everything"?)
I ask in part because of an experience I had once with my old phone. The phone had died and when I plugged it into my computer, iTunes gave me a message asking if this "new" iPhone should be replaced with the data from <name of my iPhone>. I said yes, and it seems like most settings were transferred (though not all -- the layout of icons, for example.) Will this same thing happen when I first plug in the 3GS? If so, does anyone know specifically what will be carried over... and what will happen the next time I plug in my old iPhone (the one that apparently will be turning into a glorified iPod Touch)?
    Thanks!
    -Mike

The first time you connect your iPhone 3GS to your Mac, you will be prompted to transfer the backup for your first generation iPhone to your iPhone 3GS. You should sync your first generation iPhone immediately before doing so to update the backup for the iPhone if needed.
The backup includes data such as most iPhone settlngs, email account settings, SMS messages, Notes, recent calls, call favorites, photos in your iPhone's camera roll, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app. Not the apps (which must be transferred from your iTunes library, and not your home layouts for 3rd party apps.
You can use your no longer activated first generation iPhone as an iPhone Touch, but in order to complete the process for a firmware update and the same when restoring the iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed, you need to leave the no longer activated SIM card inserted in the iPhone - the SIM card that was used with the iPhone when the iPhone was activated.

  • When we synch data from AD to FIM Portal 2010 r2 the data is not updates in FIM Portal.

    Hi,
When we synch data from AD to FIM Portal 2010 r2 the data is not updates in FIM Portal.
Active directory attribute co have value vietnam but in FIM Portal country attribute have value VIET NAM
we simply mapped AD Attribite to FIM Attribute for inbound
    co===>country
    why this happen
    Regards
    Anil Kumar

Anil, please check what do you have in metaverse. It seems that you have attribute flow precedence configured in a way that doesn't export to FIM Portal.
Let's say you have flows like:
    (AD MA)
Import flow: (AD) description -> (metaverse) description
    (FIM MA)
Import flow (FIM) description -> (metaverse) description
Export flow (FIM) description <- (metaverse) description
And you have higher precedence from FIM. Then, you would never have FIM value updated - even if value in AD changes. It would be exported to FIM only when you don't have this attribute filled in FIM.

  • Transfer data from BB Torch to IPhone 5S

I'm not sure an Apple store will do this, but your carrier can usually do this for you if you visit one of their retail stores.

  • Share data from an app between iPhone and iPad

We have an app called Pocket Expense on our iPad. If we download the app on our iPhones, can we import/ use all the account data that's entered in the iPad app.

    Probably not.
Unless the app developers have arranged for coordination of the app's data through another app like DropBox or offers cloud storage for their app through a service whereby you open an online account with them, I don't know of another way to share the data from one device to another.

  • Transfer data from old to new iPhone after setup

I Got a new iPhone today and they set it up in the store using my iCloud accout be it hasn't been updated in a few months so the data was out of date. I'm trying to transfer the data from the old phone to the new one using iTunes but I can't figure out how after doing the initial setup? I haven't really used the phone yet so I dont mind doing a factory reset as long as it won't effect my cell and data ( I don't want to have to go back to the store).

You need to plug in your old iPhone first. Then, select backup in iTunes 12. After finishing backup, plug in your new iPhone. You can choose to Restore Backup in the iTunes 12 which you had backup on your old iPhone.

  • Recovering Data from a disabled/passcoded IPhone

My Aunt has had an IPhone for quite some time and she has a lot of data on it. Contacts, photos and so forth. She recently accidentally passcoded the phone and does not know the passcode, so it is more or less disabled now.
Now the big problem, she literally never synced it with a computer.
Is their any way we can recover the data on it? Most of the guides I read would simply wipe it clean in restoring the passcode. She could care less about the phone (would be glad to upgrade to a new one), but she wants the data. The people at the AT&T store were less than helpful and basically said we are screwed.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Or even some place that we can send it to recover the data to place on a new phone.
    Thank you much.

You need to call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store, not contact AT&T about something like this.
The passcode lock feature is to protect access to data on the iPhone in the event the iPhone is lost or stolen. If it were easy to reset the passcode, it would defeat the purpose.
The iPhone is designed to be synced with iTunes on a computer. iTunes creates and maintains a backup for the iPhone. Although contacts are included with the iPhone's backup along with other data, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. Although photos in the iPhone's Camera Roll are also included with the iPhone's backup, photos can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. When there are photos in the iPhone's Camera Roll, the iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer.
The passcode lock is not included with the iPhone's backup. Had this iPhone been synced with iTunes on a computer on a regular basis as designed and intended, the iPhone could be restored with iTunes from the iPhone's backup.

  • How do I transfer data from an IOS 7 iPhone 5 to an IOS 6 iPhone 5?

I missed the cutoff for reverting to IOS 6 via iTunes, so in desperation I just bought an iPhone 5 with IOS 6 on it. (I have a vestibular disorder that leads to feeling very carsick when I use the phone, even with Reduce Motion on.)
My last iTune backup was from my IOS 7 phone. I have read that I can't use that one. But can I restore from a recent iCloud backup? What data am looking at losing? Can I move my iTunes library over? Am I restoring, or accessing a backup? I would love to know what steps to follow, if anyone can help me.

If your backup is made from iOS 7, then you can only restore that backup to a device with iOS 7 or higher. There is no way to restore a backup from a newer iOS to a phone with an older iOS.
Your only choice would be to sync data to the phone after setting the phone up as new. Contacts and calendar can be synced from iCloud if you were syncing from that, but not if you were just using iCloud as a backup.

  • Synching apps from PC to iTunes/IPhone or iTouch

In the past, I've had issues transferring apps from my new or replacement iPhone to iTunes. Apps would not get synched and everything was lost on both the device and in iTunes.
Soon, I plan to buy an iTouch 4G and I have an entire catalogue of apps on iTunes that I want to synch with the iTouch.
Is there any way to enusre that my apps will be synched TO device without the device deleting OR forcing me to create a brand new profile on iTunes where I wont be able to retrieve and synch my apps from iTunes TO the device?

    .

    Same for the ipod touch.
The apps should be in itunes on your computer. If they are not then put them there.
You ipod backs up some info with every sync ( not apps/music/etc, which is hy you need to be sure the apps/music/etc is in itunes on your computer).
