Synching. In the past I have synched my iPhone and ipad to my iMac. I would like to now synch my iPhone and ipad to a macbook pro. What is the best way to make that change without losing something ? To stop synching to the seldom used iMac.
My dumb question. I have been synching iphone and ipad to imac. I want to start syncing those devices to my mac book as I use that primarily and the imac seldom. I do use Time machine and have backups but was concerned I might create a problem for myself if I didn't check the right box somewhere. I imagine there is a simple simple way to do this ?

I would like to copy pictures stored in Events in iPhoto '11 on my iMac to my MacBook Pro which is running iPhoto '09. Is this possible without losing the organization of the Events?
Only way to do it:
Export each Event to folders in the Finder from the iPhoto 11 machine, copy those folders to the 09 machine. Import them.
Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events. -
I have a mid 2009 and a late 2011 MacBook Pro, they both have the latest upgrade of Lion. Neither of them can "see" each other in AirDrop. I have reset the apple ID on both. Is there any way I can make them "see" each other?
As far as I know the older mac is compatible with AirDrop.

I'm pretty sure my Mac mini 2011 has that but for whatever reason I cannot send via AirDrop to the mini. The mini can see other computers like my 2010 MacBook Pro and send files to it, but not in reverse. The MBP is unable to see or send to the mini unless the mini has engaged it to send a file to MBP. Even then it's temporary and the mini will disappear from the MBP's AirDrop radar upon completing the delivery of its file.
So I'm a bit perplexed on how the Mac mini has AirDrop, can see other AirDrop computers and send files to them, but cannot be seen on other Macs to reciprocate. -

You can either ask for this when buying a new MBP at a "physical" Apple store, or as in my case in the UK the online Apple store allows such keyboard configuration in addition to 3 other languages like Spanish, German and French -

Experiencing serious problems with lion, I would like to install snow leopard instead of lion on latest macbook pro MD318 (oct.2011) Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, please tell me how. Will I have to use install-disks of previous model (eg. MC721) ? Or will retail-disks serve?

A retail disk with 10.6.3 did not work, I restored my previous Snow Leopard install with Disk Utility.
However, it is not the shipped software and is not officially supported on this Mac. Therefore, your advice to troubleshoot Lion is the best option. -

Hi, I bought a refurbished Macbook 4,1 at present it is running Lion 10.7.5( although it is an older machine circa 2008) I would like to transfer everything from my old machine( early intel Macbook Pro) to the newer machine. My older machine runs Mac OS x 10.6.8 and that allows me run some very old software. Should I make a time machine back up?and restore from that or use Carbon Copy Cloner? to transfer everything, the system, applications and data.

Connect the two using a Firewire cable. Boot the newer machine in Target Disk Mode. Boot the older one normally. The disk for the newer machine will appear on the older machines's Desktop.
Drive Partition and Format
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select newer machine's hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
2. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
3. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
4. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
the Source entry field.
5. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the newer machine's drive. Source means the internal startup drive. -

Bruce you can do a lot but you need to be specific. Your question is so general it's impossible to get an idea what you have interest in doing. However the first place I'd start is looking into sharing on your System Preferences and before you start punching in preferences get yourself a book at a bookstore about OS X and study a little on sharing and OS X in general. Hi guys! I have a new Macbook Pro purchased from Best Buy yesterday. I had the Geek Squad upgrade the RAM to 8 gigs (They only had PNY brand, I was concerned but went with it anyway). I had them install Boot Camp Windows 7 Ultimate. Today I picked it up and when I started playing with it I learned that they installed the 32 bit version of Win 7 Ultimate instead of the 64 bit version, why, I have NO IDEA.
So, I want to replace the Win 7 installation with the 64 bit version but have read that this can be tricky. What is the proper way to do this? I'm not sure I trust the Geek Squad to do this for me.
I assume I need to reformat the Windows partition, defragment and then install the 64 bit version of Win 7 Ultimate, but am not completely sure. I want to be sure that I do NOT do anything that could affect the Mac side

I think you should take it back to the Geeks and tell them what you want, I also think you should backup before you do.
You do not need to reformat or repartition, you need to reinstall Windows from a 64bit copy, 32 & 64 have identical requirements as far as partition and format go, defragmenting has nothing at all to do with your needs. -

The only real reason you might need to install Office 2007 on your Mac is if you need Microsoft Access, and don't want to go through Filemaker Pro for Windows to migrate Access to Filemaker Pro. Once in Filemaker Pro format, it can be put on Filemaker Pro for the Mac. Numerous applications for download and online offer free to nearly free access to Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents, including LibreOffice, OpenOffice, Neo Office, Google Docs, and Zoho Docs. This would be much cheaper than installing a database on your Mac and PC, if Access is not part of the equation.

Yahoo is still popping up as my primary search engine even after going through preferences and setting each for google. Now I'm really not likeing Yahoo who seems to be more like a spammy virus than an option. This happened after I got my Apple computer back from repair and now I am stuck with it-when you right click you can see it as the main option for searches which tells me it's somewhere deep. This only makes me dislike Yahoo even more. Thank you for the help.

I use an Apple bluetooth keyboard with my iPad. In messages I can't find a way to "send" a message without tapping on Send on the iPad's screen. I've tried every key and key combo that I can think of. Am I missing something?
I already have multiple devices and by far I like my iPad the most over laptops and the iPad. That including checking out my friends MacBook Air.
The difference for me is the touch interface on the screen itself for things that do not require a lot of typing. For me, the iPad is more "magical" than anything else I've used.
Again, I do appreciate your answers but you don't know my situation. Not everything is as it is perceived without knowing me and what I have to go through. -

Is there available some other (than described bellow) easy way to detect it or disallow set of controllers to receive more characters that can be displayed in given composition area?
My partialy failed attempt (simplified)
For example lets say that I've got an editable textflow with attached two instances of ContainerController.

Use case
I want to create fillable form. Field might have a single or multiple lines. One field might start in the middle of the page, continue in the next line where it spreads through whole page and end in the - quarter of page width long - third line. Text typed by the user can't exceed given area since it might cover some static text that sits right after/below field.
