Synching iphone 3G and ipod 5G

Just acquired an iphone 3G. I want to sync to outlook and only certain picture and music files with the iphone. I want the old 60GB 5G ipod to continue to sync everything. Reading the online iphone manual re: sync it states: "On a PC, if you sync more than one iPhone or iPod to the same computer user account, you must use the same sync settings for each."
I don't want to duplicate the music library with a new identity in Windows XP, so I want to use the same account. I can't believe that the sync settings would have to be the same (i.e. same music, photos, everything) and most of my research (google) suggests that it doesn't. Given the quote above comes from the manual, I just want to make sure I'm not confused.
Any help/clarification is appreciated. Thanks.

I sync an iPhone 3G, an iPod Touch, and two different Nanos -- all with different settings. I just have to give them different names. iTunes remembers the settings for each.

I don't have a large library of music on my iPhone 4s since I've only had it since Oct 2012, but since the update to iTunes 11 in early December, my album artwork has been all messed up. Everytime I would try to add new music, it would assign the wrong album artwork to anything new coming in. And in addition to that, it would also mess up album artwork of music already on my phone. I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod although I can see the iphone but NOT the iPod on the computer (windows 8.1 Pro). I checked everything , cable, services, stop and start and automatice, etc.and went through all the steps on the apple support site, to include removing all apple software in the designated order and reinstalling it. iTunes still doesn't see the iphone.
The Apple iPhone shows up only under protable Devices in the Device Manager window and has a Yellow ! warning triangle, and there is no Apple USB controller in the devices menu.under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. When I look under the properties of the Apple iphone, it says in Device Status, to reinstall the drivers for this device (Code 18).
When I do this, I get the following: "Windows found driver softweare for you device but encountered an error when attempting to install it" Apple Mobile Device Driver One of the installers for th this device cannot perform the installation at this time. I tried both suggested locations on the C: drive.
Also I can't seem to find out how to install the Apple USB Contoller or is that related to the problem above?
The iphone and my ipod work fine with this version of itunes on Windows 7 on my laptop. is it possible that I am missing a critical update from Microsoft on the driver and USB controller? I have been leery of installing them since my computer had problems with some updates in January.
I 've tried every thing listed in this forum, I think, and the Apple support page on this subject. Please help!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

Very simple. Turn off Find my iDevice, then Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

Syncing Outlook for Mac with a hotmail pop accountto 'mail' on iphone, ipad and ipod

I'm using Outlook for Mac 2011, with a hotmail account set up as a pop account to my outlook inbox. I also have that same hotmail account set up on my iphone, ipad and ipod. Is there a way to sync my e-mail between Outlook for Mac and the 'mail' on my other devices, so that when I delete an email on my computer, it deletes on all devices?
I'm not so tech savvy and am happy to provide any additional information but am not sure where to start! I would appreciate any help you can give me.

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

When you plug in your phone go to the sidebar on the left, select the device, and select the menu you want to sync.
For example at the top there is summary, info, apps, movies, etc.
If you wanted to sync movies go under there and pick and chose the movies you want on the device.
Let's assume you are doing that and syncing is not going properly. Then first double check that there is a checkmark in the top left of that page that says sync movies
If there is uncheck and then hit apply. Then it will take all the movies off. Now re-check everything and hit apply.

How can I sync my iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4G to ANY computer/itunes without having to erase EVERYTHING on it?

I need to use another laptop to sync my music, I've already synced my iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4G with my laptop and had to delete EVERYTHING to do so! I refuse to do this again, I was NEVER able to restore my phone back to it's original state since then.
How can I sync up my idevices to ANY computer w/ iTunes without having to completely bomb my iphone and ipod? And if I can't do that, how can I back up all my music and apps? I've already tried "back up device" and that did absolutely NOTHING to help my predicament.
Long story short, I had my devices synced to my desktop, my desktop broke, so I bought a laptop, synced my devices to my laptop after erasing all my data, and my laptop was destroyed during hurricane sandy, so now I have to use my parents/friends computers to sync new music and videos. BUT CAN'T BECAUSE MY DEVICES WERE ALREADY SYNCED TO MY LAPTOP AND DESKTOP!
If I can get ANY help, I would greatly appreciate it.

It means that nano was used on a third-party software or synced from different computer to sync music. Does that nano show in iTunes? If yes, then restore completely. If not, then you may need to head to Apple Store and see what they can do.

IPhone 5s and iPod touch 5 quit automatically backing up

My iPhone 5s and iPod touch 5 have stopped automatically backing when I plug them in to charge while they are on wifi. My iPad 3 is still backing up correctly. I'm not sure, but this problem could have started with the update to iOS 8.3.
I tried logging out of iCloud on the iPhone and logging back in, but that didn't help. I have searched here and other places on the web, but haven't found a solution.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A number of conditions need to be in place for this to happen. Besides being plugged in and on wi-fi, your screen needs to be locked, so be sure this is taking place. If your iPad is continuing to back up, that indicates that you have enough free space in your iCloud account, so that's probably not the issue. I would check to make sure that your screen is locking after a set time.

(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

Iphone 4 and ipod classic computer autorisation bug

Hi there,
I'm having some problems with both my ipod and iphone.
I use my iphone on my PC and my Mac so 2 machine only it has not been connected anywhere else, however it tells me that I have it authorised on 4 machines and so i have only 1 authorisation left.
My ipod classic is even worst, as it is only ever being connected to my PC and more than once it has asked me to be authorised and i think i have no more authorisations left.
Many times after a major itunes update the PC will ask me to authorise the ipod for this itunes library.
is it possible to reset this authorisations? and why is this happening ayway?

I have Windows 8 Pro on my computer purchased from Microsoft for $39.99
I have the latest version of Itunes
I have desktop and the drivers seem to be installed but says "Windows encounted a problem installing the driver software of your device"for both iphone 4 and ipod classic 160gb.
The drivers are there and the actuall Apple products work but diagnostics in itunes don't recognise it. I''ve done Norton One/360 scans and no good. I paid Apple $39 dollars to fix and they said its a microsoft issue along with Symnatec.
I've disable the driver for Ipod and Iphone and reinstalled. It just says error updating the drivers and yesterday ipod worked and then did check for repair drivers and hardware and enabled ipod and iphone. Microsoft had a huge queue for 2 days and Apple don't understand windows 8. Can you help me diesel vdub? or anyone?
