Synching iphone with iMac gives 7 hour time difference in iCal

When I input events in my iPhone they often come out 7 hours later on the iMac in iCal, and then seem to end up back in the iPhone 7 hours later than intended. Real nuisance since I seem to have meetings at 3am the next day when they are supposed to be at 8pm the previous day! Any ideas?

On a separate thread I was advised to check the time zone setting on the iPhone. Even though the clock displays the correct time for my time zone, it turns out that the time zone was not correct (out of the box). When I reset it to Cupertino, all the calendar entries reset to the correct times.

    Hi Choc55carter,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You can sync Mail accounts from a computer to your iOS device. For more information on how to sync, see this article:

This sounds like an error in Time Zone support. The time zone needs to be the same in Outlook as well as the phone.

  • HT201210 When I Restore My iPhone with itunes gives error -1 will end of the Installing  firmware

When I Restore My iPhone with itunes gives error -1 will end of the Installing  firmware
    what is the problem ?

Error -1 generally indicates a catastrophic hardware failure.
You'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation

  • When I Restore My iPhone with itunes gives error -1 will end of the Installing  firmware

When I Restore My iPhone with itunes gives error -1 will end of the Installing  firmware

Error 1 means, as the link that Chris gave you says, that your phone is either jailbroken or damaged.
It can also mean that your antivirus is blocking the update, but this is rare. Try disabling your antivirus if your phone is not jailbroken. If that doesn't resolve the problem you need to get the phone fixed or replaced.
If the phone IS jailbroken you have just learned why you should not hack an iPhone. And you will have to go somewhere other than an Apple-hosted forum for help.

  • Is there an option of synching Iphone with two itunes on different mac books ?

is there an option of synching Iphone with two itunes on different mac books ?

You can't sync it to two computers.
But you can plug it into a second computer and add things or take things out of apps (under the app tab, scroll down).
Also you can take photos off on a second computer.
There are a few things you can do on a second computer.
    But not a sync.

  • Sync Read mail on iPhone with iMac & MacBook

Which settings do I need to sync my read mail on iPhone with iMac & MacBook Pro?
I tried setting up Microsoft Exchange server but get the message "Unable to verify account information".
    Thank you

GO TO YOUR SETTINGS ON YOUR MAC AND SETTINGS ON YOUR PHONE AND MAKE SURE THAT FOR ONE, YOUR USING SAME ACCOUNT.  AND MAKE SURE YOU THAT YOUR PHONE HAS THE ICLOUD MAIL ACCOUNT LISTED AND TURNED ON.  ON YOUR MAC BE SURE TO ADD THE ICLOUD ACCOUNT.  ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LATEST AND GRESTEST LION SOFTWARE SO THAT YOU CAN STREAM PHOTOS AND MAIL USING ICLOUD.  IF YOU DONT HAVE LATEST UPDATE IT WILL NOT WORK.

  • 3 hour time difference

I purchased the iphone while out on the west coast and returned home and when I sync my phone to my computer there is a 3 hour time difference from what I have typed on my appointments on the phone to what appears on my icalendar. When I try and correct the time on either device it changes the appointment on the other by the three hours. Oh what to do?

If you are syncing your iPhone calendar events with iCal, do you have Time Zone Support enabled with iCal, and do you have Time Zone Support enabled with your iPhone?
If yes, confirm your time zone settings on your Mac at System Preferences > Date & Time under the Time Zone tab.
And on your iPhone at Settings > Mail > Contacts > Calendars under the Calendars section > Time Zone Support.

  • Is it possible to exchange the 16gb iPhone with the 32gb by paying the difference in an apple retail store?

hi, i bought an iphone 5 about two weeks ago, my iphone has only 16gb of storage and i am running out of storage. Is it possible to exchange the 16gb iphone with the 32gb by paying the difference in an apple retail store? Also i didnt buy my iphone in an apple store.

If the retailer you purchased the iPhone from allows a return for payment credit within a designated period of time after the purchase date, you will need to return the existing iPhone and package contents for payment credit to that retailer - Apple deducts a 10% restocking fee when an iPhone is purchased and returned at an Apple Store, followed by purchasing the iPhone with the storage capacity you now want.

  • Synch. iPhone with 2 computers

I would like to snych my iPhone with my business Windows XP based notebook (Outlook synchronization of contacts and calendar) and with my private MacBook Pro which contains all music, videos, podcasts, ebooks and pictures.
I assume that this senario is most common and should be best practice. So allow that I address this synch issue to the apple development team to elaborate a solution for this request soon.
    Thank you very much. Wolfgang

Answering andy76sz's question, yes my behavior is the same as yours. Each time I try to resync my phone with the my other computer (no matter if it's my iMac at home or my work PC) all the syncing options are cleared and I have to recheck the ones I want. As sisterblue said, Apple probably intended this behavior to prevent inadvertent syncing to occur.
So it seems this is just the way it is for now. I hope 2.0 of the iPhone firmware will address this common usage scenario (i.e., full synchronization of contacts and appointments between the iphone and 2 different computers). This has been a feature of Windows Mobile for a while now and many of us have come to depend on having our phones (formerly PDAs) provide a way synchronizing our busy schedules and dynmically changing contacts and their info between work and home. I agree with andy76sz's assessment that Apple probably didn't initially provide this capability because they were worried about people copying music/videos between different computers using the iPhone as a bridge. I don't even use my iPhone to listen to music or watch videos.
I do have an idea though, that might work until Apple provides this capability... I have a couple of old Windows Mobile phone lying around gathering dust (T-Mobile SDA, SMT5600). What if I were to go back to using Missing Sync on my iMac and use these old phones as bridging device for syncing my calendar and contacts between my home iMac and my work PC. Would be a pain in the butt, but I think it may work. Any body tried this?

  • Synching iPhone with external hard drive

I recently got a new MacBook Pro. For some time, I've been storing all my iTunes music on an external hard drive with no issues.
I was having trouble synching my iPhone with the new MacBook at first. It was telling me it would need to erase the current music from my phone. Finally I realized I needed to copy the iTunes folder from the user Library on my old Mac. Then I was able to synch my phone.
BUT then I realized that, rather than accessing the music on my external hard drive, iTunes had copied all my music to the new Mac's hard drive. So I looked it up and got it to recognize the external drive -- ended up having to copy all the music from the Mac BACK to the external drive, where it already existed.
But now the phone won't synch again! Those files are still in the Library folder. Why is the Mac treating my iPhone like a stranger again?

But, as I said, by copying those files from the /user/Library/iTunes folder, I had solved the problem temporarily on the new computer. Now that it's looking for the music on the external hard drive, something is messed up again.
And, by the way, the music is still all on the internal hard drive, too. But I did do the "consolidate library" and I've verified that iTunes is finding the music on the external hard drive, not the internal one.

  • Cannot synch iPhone because it gives me an error message..."iPhone cannot be synched. You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation."

Cannot synch iPhone4 because it gives me an error message "iPhone cannot be synched. You do not have enough access privileges for the operation" However, both the iPhne and computer are both mine...please help!

It may be the cache folder with problems, you can check this discussion on the issue to locate folder and try that solution.

  • Problem Syncing iPhone with iMac

    Hello,
My iPhone has been working and syncing (with new iMac) just fine - until tonight. I plug in iPhone. It shows up in iTunes. I have Automatic sync checked. But, within less than a minute, I receive this error message:
"iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone [name] because the iPhone disconnected"
I also get same error message when I click "Sync" button in lower right of iTunes window. Obviously, I did not disconnect the phone as the error message alleges.
I have rebooted computer. I have recycled iPhone (top right switch off, then on). I have changed iPhone cord plugged in back of iMac screen. I have ejected iPhone, removed plug and reestablished connection.
I need to sync my contacts from iMac Address Book. Can someone please identify the problem and solution?
    Thank you,
    Dale
Note: The iPhone was updated several days ago to 1.1.3. Syncs have taken place successfully SINCE the upgrade prior to tonight.

With your iPhone connected and available with iTunes, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences under replace information on this phone, select Contacts and then sync. This will replace all contact information on your iPhone with what is available in the Address Book application.
