Synching iPhone with newly-installed iTunes

I plugged in my iPhone to newly-installed iTunes on a new laptop (to synch it) and a message popped up telling me iTunes would take my iPhone back to its factory settings and that I would lose my media etc. Will I get it back? And how?
Thanks

Howdy Paddy275,
I would recommend copying your library from the other computer to this one. This article will help with that:

The content WILL be wiped when you sync the phone. But if you have the library that has all your media in it copied over and you can see it all in iTunes, then you will need to select what to sync back over. Use this to assist with that if needed.

If you cannot copy the original library to your new computer, then you can always redownload your past purchases free of charge from the iTunes store.

  • Sync the old iphone with newly installed iTunes....

    Hi,
I recently formatted my laptop and hence my iTunes got erased ( everything). Now when I try to connect my iPhone4 with the laptop and try to sync it, it says, everything on the iphone will sync with iTunes, which obviously would erase every app that I'd installed on my phone.
What can be done to resolve this??? Also, I had not taken a backup on iCloud....Please help....

  • HT5100 Sync iPod (Shuffle) with newly installed iTunes; songs deleted? :(

My music from my ipod (shuffle) is not on my ipod anymore after my newly installed itunes on my PC asked me to sync my ipod music, where did it go? My itunes library did not have any songs which is why I thought the songs wouldn't be replaced. I need help ...

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party progtam like one of those discussed here
    Copy music
    - WHen everything is on your computr connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup. Do that by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not contain synced media like apps and music.

  • I have changed computers and installed iTunes on my new computer. I want to sync my iphone now but the "sync" program indicates that it will remove all data on my phone and replace it with the newly installed itunes that does not have my information.

I have a new computer and have installed iTunes on it.
Now I want to sync my iphone but the new itunes on the new computer wants to remove everything on my niphone and replace it with what's on the newly installed itunes data but it does not have my data.
How can I sync the new itunes with my iphone and not have my phone data wiped out?
    Thanks,

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem.  You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

  • Is there an option of synching Iphone with two itunes on different mac books ?

is there an option of synching Iphone with two itunes on different mac books ?

You can't sync it to two computers.
But you can plug it into a second computer and add things or take things out of apps (under the app tab, scroll down).
Also you can take photos off on a second computer.
There are a few things you can do on a second computer.
    But not a sync.

  • Synching Iphone/Ipad after reinstalling ITunes

    Hi There,
My laptop hard drive just died and I have replaced it and reinstalled all programs.  My music was back up and re-installed as well.  I plugged in my Iphone to my laptop but I am afraid to synch it with the new itunes.  Will I lose all the data from my phone?  My music shows in the library but my playlists and apps are not currently shown.  Any advice before I hit synch q

If the playlists and apps are not showing in the library, then the library was not restored.
What specifically was backed up and restored in regards to the library?  Was it the ENTIRE iTunes folder or simply the iTunes Media/Music folder?  If the former, everything is as it was prior to replacing the drive.  If it's the later, well you'll be creating a new library unless you still have access to the old drive.

  • Can i use a 2nd iphone if i install itunes on another user account.when i tried to create a second library i messed up both phones, the second one now has all my contacts and when it sends txts it either says its my other phone or email address

can i use a 2nd iphone if i install itunes on another user account.when i tried to create a second library i messed up both phones, the second one now has all my contacts and when it sends txts it either says its my other phone or email address. i can cope with the first phone and getting it back on itunes but dont want to syn the 2nd phone until i know it is independant of the other one. Does it matter that both phones use the same itunes store account?

Deleting the account on your phone only removes if from your phone.  The account and it's data remain intact and doing so will not effect your daughter's phone.
To do this, first go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn any synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off, and when prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone.  When finished, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Then set up a new iCloud account with a different Apple ID and turn any data you want to sync with iCloud (contact, calendars, etc.) back to On.  This will upload your data to your new iCloud account.

latest message indicates I need Apple Application Update
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Hi all, i just updated my iphone 3gs with 5.0 ios version and now i cannot configure the iphone with it because itunes is not recognizing my iphone

hi all, i just updated my iphone 3gs with 5.0 ios version and now i cannot configure the iphone with it because itunes is not recognizing my iphone

Contacts are NOT part of the iTunes backup.  If you had read the User Guide when you got your phone, you would have learned that Apple recommends you synch your contacts for safekeeping to your computer (Outlook, Address Book) or a cloud service.  Using the phone as your only source of your contacts is foolish as the phone can easily be lost, damaged, stolen, or the data become corrupt.
If you've been using your phone as strongly recommended, your contacts are safe and sound on your computer or cloud service ready to be synched back to your phone.  Of course, you should be backing up your computer regularly as well.
If you haven't been doing this, your contacts are likely gone.

    Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.
It says my phone can only be set up woth one itunes account. How do I remove the previous account?
No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer.
