Synching iPod after upgrading to 8.0.2.20

No trouble upgrading but I've just tried to synch my 30GB iPod and I'm being told that "this computer is no longer authorised to play purchased items that are on the iPod. Would you like to authorise this computer for items purchased from the iTunes store? If you do not authorise this computer 63 songs, including "Lights" will be removed from the iPod".
I've been using iTunes on this PC without being prompted in this way since iTunes began; I've certainly purchased more than 63 songs, and I don't have a song called "Lights" anywhere in my library!
So then I try to re-authorise the computer. It prompts me for an Apple ID but the field already has one of my kids' IDs in it. I overtype my Apple ID, enter my password, click authorise...iTunes accesses the iTunes store, then returns the authorise computer screen and prompts again for an Apple ID, this time with my other kid's ID already in it. Again I overtype my ID, password, click authorise, then it comes back with the same screen as before but with one of my kid's friends IDs! Overtype mine for the third time, click authorise, it thinks about it, then proudly annouces that "This computer is already authorised, including this one you have 3 out of 5 authorised". Click OK, same proud announcement, click OK, same proud announcement. Click OK, guess what:
"this computer is no longer authorised to play purchased items that are on the iPod. Would you like to authorise this computer for items urchased from eth iTunes store? If you do not authorise this computer 63 songs, including "Lights" will be removed from the iPod".
Aaarrgh!
If its relevant I'm running XP home edition.
Any advice anyone, please? Thank you.

  • Smart playlists won't play on video ipod after upgrade to itunes version 7

Upgraded to ITunes version 7 on Windows XP using Video Ipod with firmware level 1.2. Resynced Ipod after Itunes upgrade. Now when I hit ipod's play button on a smart playlist, nothing happens. If I hit play button from itunes, no problems...
Is this a known issue with a solution? I was unable to find a solution in the forum. Thank you for any assistance.

This problem only occurs when podcasts are included in the playlist. Full restoration of IPOD did not resolve problem.

  • Almost 28 gig of 'other' added to my ipod after upgrading to ios 5

Immediately after upgrading to ios 5, my 32 gig iPod touch was clogged with 27.9g of 'other' data that wasn't there before the update, leaving no room for anything else. Any idea what this data could be or how to get rid of it? If nothing else I'll try reseting it and installing software again.

Thank you wjosten. It did work!!

  • Music albums purchased in March are no longer in my iPad and iPod after upgrading to iOS 7 why?

After upgrading to iOS 7 all the music albums purchased in March are no longer in the iPad or the iPod although in the iTunes Store are shown as purchased. How I can get them back?

    Your original post:
I upgraded an iPad 2 to iOS 7 and since then SIRI no longer works when pressing the HOME button.  The settings for SIRI has also disappeared in the GENERAL settings.  I have searched and found no posts with this issue!

  • Is there a way to keep the apps on my Ipod after upgrading to IOS 5?

I plugged my Ipod touch (4th generation) into my mac and itunes prompted me to upgrade to IOS 5 (which I would like to do).  However, it says that I'll lose all my apps...
Is there are way to restore these apps after the IOS 5 has been downloaded/installed?  I don't want to go ahead with this process if I have to buy all the apps (with all the information I've stored in them) again!
thanks in advance for the help!

    - Transfer the app to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. That should also update the iPod.

  • Why won't music play on my ipod after upgrading to ios 6?

I installed the new ios 6 software and since then my music have not been playing on my ipod touch. I am already frustrated since I recently wyped away my computer and reinstalled everything, but itunes only backed up the music I bought from the itunes store to my computer, instead of my entire library saved to itunes and icloud, but I digress. At this moment I just want to know how come none of my music will play on my ipod touch after the ios 6 upgrade.

Try hooking the iPod up to the computer, turning off sync for music ("ok" to deleting songs from device), then turning that back on and resyncing.

  • ITunes won't recognize ipod after upgrade

Yesterday my ipod synced fine, then I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and now when I plug the ipod in, it does not show up anywhere. Nice.
I tried re-installing itunes re-booting and resetting the ipod countless times, different usb ports, etc. I'm convinced it is the software upgrade.
When I plug it in, it does not give the "do not disconnect" msg. It does nothing except indicate it is charging (little lightning bolt).
I had this same issue after an upgrade last year, and all the sudden it started working after simply plugging it in a few days later (magic!)
I also find it hilarious that one of the tips Apple suggests for this problem is to re-set your ipod to factory settings....which step 1 to do so is to connect it to your computer and select that in itunes--I can't get it to show up in itunes, so how can I re-format it!!
    Any suggestions?
Are there any other files I should trash when deleting itunes off my mac besides the application?

OK, it is working now. Not exactly sure the cause of problem, but here's what I did in case others have a similar problem:
I did not have a syncservices file Carolyn mentioned.
So I hunted around and found a document suggesting to delete the ipod.plist file and the isync.plist file in the preferences directory.
I did it one at a time, rebooting both my imac and ipod before connecting again.
Deleting the ipod file did not work.
Deleting the isync file DID WORK. Also note that throughout this I had re-named my "iTunes" folder (where all my songs are), so when I opened iTunes, it created a new blank song library. Also, each time I did delete the itunes plist files mentioned previously in this thread.
Once iTunes recognized my iPod I went ahead and restored it, deleting all the iPod data.
I then restored my original song library to itunes, and re-synced the ipod.
Then the moment of truth, disconnecting the ipod and re-connecting to see if iTunes will recognize it. NO LUCK. SAME PROBLEM! %$#@&!
While I'm re-booting the mac, I was playing some videos on my ipod, I had not played in a long time. By pure chance I find that 2 of them appear to be corrupt and did not play correctly...they were very old qt movie of some commercials I had from 10 years ago, that I stuck on my ipod for fun last year.
I also found a video podcast I downloaded from Apple --the day I had these problems--would not even play. It played on iTunes, but locked up my iPod--my iPod has never frozen like that.
So I trashed those corrupt video files before I re-synced my ipod yet again (after restoring it again,etc.).
NOW IT WORKS LIKE A DREAM.
Not sure if a corrupt video file can hose up iPod syncing, but that is what the evidence points to here. Or possibly the older videos combined with the new software upgrade.
    Thanks to Carolyn for suggestions.

  • I can't sync my iPod after upgrading to iTunes 7 - Help!

I'm running an Intel 20" iMac with all of the latest software updates applied.
My iPod is a 30GB iPod Photo (4G) running software version 1.2.1.
I upgraded to iTunes 7 last night. Since then, I can't sync my iPod. Here's what happened/happens...
I installed iTunes 7. On first run (iPod disconnected) it checked for album art and ran through my library to determine the zero gap playback info. That all happened successfully.
When I connect my iPod (which is set to auto update), it recognizes it, and show the status page (also shows up in "devices" in left pane) and immediately a small window pops up with the text "Updating library on 'Evan's iPod'". The progress bar gets to somewhere between 30-70% and then hangs.
I left it running all night and it never finished. My only option was to Force Quit iTunes. Once I did, my iPod was still fine, and had all my music on it, just nothing new.
I've tried rebooting my computer and iPod, to no avail.
I would try reformatting my iPod, except that you can now (seemingly) only do that through iTunes (as opposed to a separate updater as in the past). Since iTunes locks up as soon as my iPod is connected, that doesn't help me much...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Evan

Ok... I just tried connecting my iPod directly to a USB port on the computer rather than via the USB hub I was using and everything is fine. Odd, but I'm happy now.

I get "The iPod "name" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (1417)".
I have tried the standard things... reset internet connection, restart PC, uninstall and reinstall iTunes...

  • Smart Playlist is not syncing to iPod after upgrade to iTunes 9

Since upgrading to iTunes 9, one of my smart playlists is no longer syncing to my iPod, however, it syncs fine with my iPhone.
The conditions for the playlist are:
    Media kind is podcast
    PlayCount is 0
Any ideas why it's not syncing?

Quick fix: Make a regular playlist. Drag the contents of the smart playlist into it. Sync the new playlist.
WIthout seeing the rules for your smart list it is hard to guess what the problem is, but you may get better results if you break it down into more sublists gathered together in a playlist folder.
