Synching ipod nano

I am trying to synch my ipod nano to my PC.........it will only synch for a few seconds...........there are many albums in my itunes music on the PC that will not synch onto the nano.....any idea why this has just started happening???.....thanks so much for any advice...

I will like to add 200 extra tracks from my sister's laptop ITUNES library onto my own very IPOD nano. Anyone can advise how to synch it so that it can add those audio files WITHOUT erasing those already stored on the IPOD?

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library. Even when manually managing an iPhone, you can only add content from one iTunes library.

I am temporarily using a borrowed PC while my Mac is being fixed. When I plug the iPod into the iTunes PC, it asks me if I want to re-format the iPod. If I do so with the PC, will I be able to re-format it back when I go back to the Mac OS X Tiger, Leopard, or Snow Leopard ?

Yes, you will be able to reformat the iPod back to Mac's native format when your iPod returns.
Since a Windows machine cannot read or write to a Mac's format, you will have to format the iPod in order to use it with the PC you are temporarily using. Keep in mind, that by reformatting the iPod, you will be deleting everything from it, so make sure all your music and files that currently reside on it are backed up somewhere for safekeeping.
On another note, you don't have to reformat the iPod again after re-syncing the iPod with your Mac, because Mac's can Read and Write to Windows formatted iPods, but you can still choose to do so if you wish.

Ipod Nano error message when trying to synch

Im having problems with my ipod nano it keeps giving me the error "The ipod cannot be synched.The required folder cannot be found" Also gives me "some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to the ipod because one or more errors occurred"
Ive tried reseting the ipod on and off the usb cord,also tried restoring the factory settings with no joy, tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling with no joy. It starts synching gets so many songs then gives me the error messages and when i check the ipod no songs are on it! HT1727 I lost my old iPod and bought a new one. The old one had many of MY personally owned and legally bought CDs on it. I have those iTunes backed up ant now I can't seem to "synch" them to the new iPod nano.

You might consider restoring the iPhone, then removing the SIM card after activating the iPhone, so as to use it as an iPod Touch. This should prevent any unwanted association with a phone number, and thus, voicemail, as well.

Ipod nano 4th gen won't synch with windows 7

I recently reset my windows 7 laptop. Ever since, itunes has not been synching with my 4th gen ipod nano. The device is being recognised and charges, but music would not synch. This wasn't too much of an issue for a while. But today I wanted to update my music so i tried updating itunes and restoring my ipod to factory settings and seeing if that helped. it successfully wiped the device, but will still not upload music. Whenever I click synch I begins the process but immediately states the synch is complete even though no music has been added. So now I have an empty ipod which cannot have any music put on it.

You probably need to set up automatic syncing. If you do not set it up, it will still "sync" but it will sync nothing.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod so that you see its Summary settings screen (click the "device button" on horizontal bar). In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, click Music. To the right is the iPod's Music settings screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync your iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music. This enables automatic syncing for songs. Below that, if your entire iTunes library fits on your iPod, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.
Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Then, select what you want to sync from the lists below. On convenient way to set this up is to create one or more playlists in your iTunes library with songs just for the iPod. Or you can use existing playlists. On the iPod's Music settings screen, find and select (checkmark) just those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your iPod with your selection(s) on the iPod's Music settings screen, and keeps it "in sync" automatically.

When I linked it it used the name I had given the ipod so it seems strange that it won't synch even though it is definitely connected.

Ipod nano not synching with itunes: HELP!!

I just purchased an ipod nano and tried to synch with the latest version of itunes. I'm unable to synch and get an error -53. Does anyone know of this error? I tried calling support and was on the phone for over 3 hours and was unable to receive any help from them.

The error messeges that I get when trying to update my ipod to 1.1.3 from 1.1.2 is 1417. The error when I try to synch or restore is -53. Does anyone know what they mean? I just purchased an Intek21 high speed USB card. I also get an error on the diagnostic regarding no IEEE 1394 host controller. I'm not using a firewire though, it's a USB connection.

IPod Nano 5th Gen unmounts before synch

The questin that the computer asked you was "This iPod has been synced with another computer. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this computer." If you said yes then it deleted everything. The way to put it back on is.
1. Click on the iPod
2. Click Podcast on the top of the screen.
3. Check the box
4. Choose what Podcasts you want to have.
5. Click the sync button

IPod nano 6th generation no longer synching runs to Nike+

Just got a pop-up when I connected my iPod nano (6th generation) that stated something that workout data would no longer be sent to Nike+ because iTunes no longer supports pedometer devices. I can't seem to find any details about why I can no longer synch workouts, from either Apple or Nike.
Anyone know what's going on with this?

Here is what i did and i manage to fix it.
Un tick the option connect automatically to nikeplus.com from your itunes
Click Apply or sync on the down left corner.
Then click connect automatically to nikeplus.com and
Click Apply or sync on the down left corner

Ipod nano 7th gen problems synching

for the past 2 days, I have been battling an ipod nano synching issue. This ipod has been working flawlessly for the past year. And then all of the sudden, without warning, I tried to add additional music and I could not. I cannot remember the exact syntax of the error but it had something to do with the ipod not being recognized and required a restore to factory.
I have corrected the first issue where the ipod was not recognized and had to be factory restored. Each time I restored, it would not be recognized by itunes.
I installed itunes on another pc and the same ipod synched and reconnected just fine, pointing back to the itunes install on my primary machine.
I resolved the first issue on my primary machine by following ht1923.
However, now the problem I see is that even though the ipod connects successfully , to my primary machine , when I synch and add music, no music shows up on the ipod even though itunes says synch successful. The ipod says "no music".

I would like to chime in that I've confirmed this as a reproducible bug on my iPod Nano 7th generation. I have an iTunes library with an offending compilation, and to avoid any possible tagging incompatability, I've converted the files to AAC with clean tags containing the album, artist, title, and track number. The album artist is "Various Artists" and I've checked off the "Part of a compilation" box for each track in my library.
These tracks all show their correct artists when I sync this library to my iPhone. However, when I sync the exact same tracks to my iPod Nano 7th Gen, it choose a random artist from amongst all the artists within the compilation and shows that artist name on *every* track.
iPod Nano 7th Gen has a bug in the firmware for displaying artists correctly when they are part of a compilation. The OP is likely doing nothing wrong. Apple needs to issue new firmware. Alternatively, I cannot think of any decent workaround short of splitting off each track of the compilation into a separate album, which, would be a huge pain and likely impractical for most people.
