Synching iTunes/iPhone - newly added songs

Hello,
Not sure if there is a way but when I add new music to iTunes is there a way to make my iPhone recognize the newly added music and just add those?
thanks

Hi there,
This is definitely possible. Take a look at the section titled "Syncing Automatically" in the article below for more information.

  • How do I stop itunes from automatically adding songs into my itunes library?

I want to disable itunes from automatically adding songs into my library.  Every time I sync up my ipod I'm finding miscellaneous debris on it that itunes keeps importing into it.  Theres got to be a way to disable this function but I can't seem to find it in the preferences.   I'm using a 2011 macbook pro with os x 10.6.7.

I figured out how to change itunes as my default player.  I did this by selecting a new audio file and hitting cmd and I to get info, then I selected the "open with" category.  Inside "open with" theres an option to open the file with quick time, underneath that is the "change all" option.  select that and you will solve this problem if this is a nuisance to anyone else.

  • Can iTunes transfer only newly added songs?

Hi, just need a quick answer. Couldn't find the answer I was looking for in the FAQ section. Posted in the iTunes forum, but not as many people on there as here.
I know iTunes can either transfer the whole library or we can manually do it, but is there a way iTunes can transfer only new songs added to the library since it last transfered to the iPod? And if we changed the info for an existing song, would it know it's newly added if the first question is possible?
    Thanks,
    JayDee

This is something that I haved wondered and the simple answer unfortunately is no (to the best of my knowledge). With podcasts and Photos, iTunes keeps whats on the iPod and only adds to this bringing the collection up to date. For some silly reason, there is not an option to do this with music - an auto update will erase and replace the entire iPod library to match your iTunes library (very annoyingly). The only way round this is to use manual manage songs, which as you've probably found out saves you a **** of alot of time! The first time you re-connect your ipod and discover it is starting from scratch is quite agrivating! 55GB and USB1!

  • Having trouble with synching (iTunes/iPhone) & Security software

I use ZoneAlarm Security Suite on my PC.  Ihave been using iTunes/iPhone successfully for a couple of years with this software, but after the most recent iPhone o/s upgrade I get communications errors that prohibit my iPhone from syching properly.  It often comes up saying that I need to restore my iPhone.
Any suggestions on firewall settings that may be causing these issues?

Find a new friend. If you don't have access to the last computer your phone synced with, you will have to force your phone into recovery mode & restore it as a new device to remove the passcode. All data on your phone will be lost:
Turn the phone off using the Sleep/Wake button, then the slide to power off. If you are unable to do that, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, you will only be able to restore as new.

You may be better off posting in the iTunes or iPhone fora.

  • ITunes/iPhone not removing songs

    I'm using iTunes 11.1.5 and iOS 7.1.
My iTunes folder is stored on an external harddrive, along with my iPhoto library. When I attempt to remove music from my phone (iTunes is set to sync only checked songs), the music is not removed. I tried restoring my iPhone to factory settings and adding the music again. That worked to remove ALL the music, clearly. But now I'm back to square one. When I want to remove an album, the box is unchecked in iTunes, but the music is still on my phone.
I've also had problems with sync getting stuck on "importing photos."
    Anyone else having this issue?

If you are referring to the "Complete My Album" feature, that indeed only applies to tracks from that particular album. The same tracks purchased as a single or as part of some other album, even though the tracks may be identical, will not be credited.
    Regards.

  • Genius doesn't work for newly added songs

I've noticed lately that Genius Playlists don't seem to work for anything I've added within the last 6 months or so.  I get a message saying that a playlist can't be made, and a suggestion to pick a different song.
It seems like at a certain point, anything I added to my Library from that point forward stopped being Genius-able.  I've updated it from the Store menu.  I've even disabled it and re-enabled it.
These are not super obscure tracks... Ben Folds, Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens...
Any thoughts?  The only weird thing that I can think to mention is that I moved my iTunes library to a shared folder a while back so that my wife could access the same Library from her OS X account.  Is that something that could have affected this?

I've found a lot of threads in this forum with the exact same issue.  Can ANYONE create genius playlists from songs from the following albums?
    Ben Folds - Lonely Ave
The Decemberists - The King Is Dead
Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz

  • Newly added songs on one device

While traveling, I recently added some new songs to my MacBook Pro (through discs).  When I got home, I subscribed to Match from my iMac.  I've activated Match on my iPad, but wondered if I need to do something before activating Match on the MacBook...will the new songs get synced to my Library?  Is there another step I need to do so that once I activate Match on my MacBook Pro it won't erase the new songs I just added?  Thanks for your help!

iTunes Match will recognise additional Songs and simply add them to your current set.  You do not have to perform any action beyond enabling iTunes Match on your computer.

  • Newly added songs show up in my library but do not sync to my ipod 6th generation

I recently purchased songs from itunes and they did not sync to my ipod.  However they do show up in my library.  How do I get them to sync?

Make sure they are configured to sync to your iPod.  For example, if your iPod is set up to sync only checked songs and videos, make sure these new tracks each have tick marks next to them in your main iTunes library.

  • Itunes is not adding songs to ipod

So this issue started around a week ago. If i add new songs to iTunes, they all won't show up in my iPod when its synced. Only a couple of songs will appear in my iPod but not all of them and it's really frustrating. I'm thinking about restoring my iPod but i have a fear that by doing so, if the problem is not fixed, then most of the songs i already have in it will not sync back.
Should i go ahead and restore it anyways?

Try disabling a/v software and turn off the Firewall on the computer then try syncing.
    Disable antivirus software
Turn Windows Firewall on or off

  • ITunes freezes when adding songs

I upgraded iTunes to 6.0.1.whatever and now i can't do anything. When I try to add files or folders to my library iTunes freezes and i have to shut it down. Along with this it will no longer recognize or find any of my songs that I was recently (before upgrading) able to play that are located on my external hard drive. I can only play songs that are on my local disk. Can anyone help????

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

  • Itunes crashing when adding songs

Everytime I add a bunch of songs or a folder to my itunes it crashes, I have updated to the latest itunes and I still have this problem. I can open the songs on Windows media player. I can also add one song at a time however it takes forever. If I download some more songs, I can add them ok.
I think this is due to my hard disk crashing a few weeks ago and I think some of the files are damaged but why would they still work if I add them individually ?
    any advice please ?
    cheers

iTunes is a lot pickier about MP3 file headers than some other programs.
Maybe check one of those problem files with MP3Validator, as explained here

  • This is silly: iTunes duplicating newly added music in lib? O.o

Just adding some new albums to my main library and every file copied twice and gets duplicated. From new location, brand new files been added, still dubplicating. What the ... ? Tell me something smart please... :\

Unfortunetally the only way you can listen to music on an Apple TV is via iTunes Match or using iTunes Home Sharing, as ATV is not a storage device, but is a streaming device.  It will show up, but only using iTunes Home Sharing.
Let me know if this answers your question,

  • Why are my newly added playlists upside down?

Just this week, I've noticed that my newly added playlists are importing from the file folders on my hard drive to the iTunes and iPod Touch upside down. I accepted an Apple pushed update sometime last week and hadn't noticed anything funny with the playlists until I added a few new ones this week.
I updated my iTunes to the latest available as of last week and my iPod Touch states that its current version is 4.2.1 (8C148).  I've been reading that iO5 has been having this issue since its release late last year and iTunes intermittently over the past few years going back to 2007 with various version updates; yet, no one had a solution until another update is released.
Since I have a Gen2 iPod Touch, I didn't think that my firmware could be updated to iO5, which contains this upside issue with the playlists.  But apparently, implements of iO5 exists in the latest 4.2.1 update which causes this issue.
When looking at the list of songs in iTunes, the newly added songs, even with the correct order of tracks, 1 of 18, 2 of 18, etc, written into the properties of each track, they do not show up properly in the song list.  I have to create a playlist and move the songs over and then manually reorder the songs.  With the iPod Touch, which is weird, the songs move over in order from the playlist created in iTunes, and are visibly in order, but when I access the playlist on the device when not docked to a computer, the songs are in upside down order.  Even when I manually Edit the playlist on the device and correct the issue and save the change, after docking the device to my computer, the songs will revert back to upside down order on the device, but visibly looks fine (correct order) in iTunes and the playlist when the device is still plugged into the computer.
Does anyone know why this problem exists and what I could do as a workaround to resolve this upside down issue with playlists?

Think of the arrow pointing from large to small, so the wide fat or large end of the arrow is at the top and the sharp pointy or small end is at the bottom. So it will sort from large to small and alaphbetically Z is larger than A. Click the Name bar and the arrow will reverse with sharp pointy end, small, at the top and large fat end at the bottom so it will now sort A to Z, as A is deemed to be smaller than Z.
    Hope that helps?
    Phil
